Zenfone 3 Ultra release in Vietnam with crazy price! - Asus ZenFone 3 Ultra Guides, News, & Discussion

Unbelievable, Asus release Zenfone 3 Ultra in Vietnam with crazy price, 13.990.000vnd = 649usd. The same price with Samsung S7 in Vietnam.
My god. Maybe Asus keep it to using with himself.

stop crying, it's not their fault that you cant afford one.

It isn't really whether or not one can afford it, it is whether or not it is worth that much. Just because the phone is big doesn't mean it should be valued the same as a flagship higher quality device. Other than size everything about this phone is mid-range value.

The market does its job: you buy if you want it, and not buy otherwise. The price and the profit is the decision of the manufacturer

The retail price of the Sony Xperia S is around 32k. I say you try to bargain a little bit, im pretty sure you can get it reduced a bit more, but if you don't mind go for it

23k? how? second hand or grey market...
well i want to ask if there are many problems with this phone or this is a solid one without any problem? well grey market does nothing it just gives u phone at around 5k less than market price... if this phone has no issues i will buy it but if there are problems for which i have to go to service center then i have to think.
Check the built no before you buying so that you can avoid off going to service centers..

I would not recommend u to buy any smartphone (at that price) without warranty. I can assure u that SXS is totally worth its price (i got it for 30k).
Anyhow, if u still wanna buy from grey.. then do check its batch no/build no (like AAAC/ABAB) as some initial batches suffer yellow patch/tint issue. I've had mine (ABAB) for 2 months, no yellow tint or any other issues so far!
About the list you have.. all phones are good, it all depends on what feature u like more in a smartphone! Good luck
Buy a second hand one. I got one only used 5 days and in an impeccable condition except the seal. I even got warranty. Look in Quickr or OLX. You might find some steals there

Is it a good deal? That depends on a lot of things. A lot of people seem to have a lot of complaints about this device. I won't go into detail because you can browse this forum and find them. In my case I don't have any real problems. This may be because I just don't use it in the same way as others do so I don't notice. I also have a later production unit. From what I've read, you can tell by the serial number. The oldest ones start with C1 where mine starts with C4. So for me it works fine for everything I need it for and for me $200 would be a good deal. You could get a new Nexus 7 for that or less but I really want the 10 inch screen so an N7 is not the one for me. So the answer is...it all depends.
What the guy above me said.
Except, if the serial number is a "B", serial number, leave. It's a trap.
Buy the Prime at a low price then exchange for a brand new Infinity, good deal!

Looks like it will be in UK Currys PCWorld on 13th

Just searching twitter and I came across these two posts from Currys PC World confirming they will be selling the Nexus 10 on the 13th in the UK.
Good news!
Not sure if we'll be getting more official news nearer the date. Was the Nexus 7 "officially" announced as an in-store release?
http://twitter.com/p_stead/status/265420427780845568
http://twitter.com/CurrysPCWorldUK/status/264360450437808128
Great news! It'll still retail at £389 though right?
Hey guys, I work in Currys/PC world.
The big hint towards us getting the Nexus 10 was when they announced a partnership with Samsung to build a dedicated area for Samsung products. And it looks like Nexus 10 might be one of the main items
Edit: We normally get the Products in days before release, so I'll let you know if/when we do get it. Can't wait to use it and get it out on display
Converted 95% of the customer who came to buy an iPad from me to either Samsung Note 10.1 or Nexus 7's. Now it's time for Nexus 10 to take the limelight
Great , Off to Currys then for me on the 13th!
It also says they have a 28 say repair policy for faulty units. That sounds less attractive. Is any other real store stocking them?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
Surely its a 28 day exchange policy? Better than Google's 15 day return period.

21 day return policy according to their website. Any faults and they'll replace it straight away.

Good news, means I can test for light bleed myself, Just hope they don't increase the price at all. I much prefer to buy from shops and walk away with it in my hand.
I'm hoping to find out when argos get it. Got some vouchers I want to make use of.
Funny they announced the nexus 7 32gb before they should have, yet no ones heard of a n10, even though it's been revealed ?

I will pick it up from Curry's on the 13th if the price is no more expensive than direct from Google.
Do we know if it will be the 16 or 32GB version?

PC World/ Currys needs more employers like you, I was a big customer of theirs, but now a days their staff is just horrible, they know very little about their products and its just awkward talking to them, even tho PC World prices can be decent.
Will you stock the 16Gb as well?

At a guess it will be the 32gb model only. Same as Walmart.
Probably be priced at £389.99 so only a little more expensive than buying from the Play store.

Not at the price google are selling it for, apparantly LG have recommended a retail price of £599, and all the UK phone shops will take advantage of that, the bets are google are selling them at cost or less than cost to get market share.

LG are pioneering a new Sales strategy, its called 50% ON
I predict extreme results.
They'll never sell that for £600 when you can get it direct from google for 320. That's just stupid.

That can't be true. The phone companies will be selling it for free on contract. Yes the price maybe higher then the play store but it's masked in a 24 month contract.
There's no way it'll be £599 anywhere though. That's nearly £100 more than the S3 was at launch.

Not entirely sure if it'll come with a carrier. But the wifi version will probably be available just like the Tablet Z was. Both in Sony Stores and in resellers like Amazon, Best Buy, etc...
Best guess is it'll run $499 for a wifi 16Gb just like the Tablet Z did, and $599 for a 32Gb model. Mobile connectivity versions a bit higher, depending on if you buy them straight up or on a contract.
Last I heard indicated either late April or early May for release in the US. Probably May is more likely I bet.
The cellular model looks like Sony made one model with every band in it.
So you could import and will work on Att and T-mobile.
It even has 1700/2100 band for t-mobile HSPA

Wow! I'm not here to bash, or promote, any particular retailer. I'm just a guy who wants to buy one of these and am frustrated that Sony isn't selling them here the U.S. (Similar story with the Z1C phone which I ended up buying from the U.K.)
But ... Did you really pay $1500 at Tropical Mobile (price I see on eBay) for a device which retails around the world for $5-600?
If so, my hat's off to you for being bold and decisive. I'm still waiting, hoping for a good option from the U.K. or from Sony USA. The price from the U.K., when available, is forecast at about $590 with support from Sony UK and a two year warranty. There are apparently reputable U.S. eBay sellers offering no-support Europe versions for $510. The latter are promised to already be through customs and ready to ship; what I read at Tropical Mobile is ambiguous about where they actually are and if there might still be customs issues.

I got the WIFI+LTE version from Tropical on Ebay.
I purchased about 10 days ago and the price for the wifi+lte version was $690
I see he just recently raised the price to over $1,000
Mine came from Singapore. Left Singapore and was at JFK and cleared customs the next day. No problems at all
Mine left Singapore too. I paid $560. It wasn't $1000 or so like u said at that time. So no need to rage just simple ask...

Thanks for both answers. That all seems much more reasonable. The big question I struggle with on any of these imports is warranty. Sony typically warrants their products for two years (sometimes with an offer of a 3rd year for an extra penny). I may never need it, but I hate to give it up. Did you get any kind of warranty?

I wouldn't assume that means anything. They may or may not be an authorized reseller, but if you take the device to Sony's repair facilities in another country, they may not cover it.
Sony USA for example has their own repair network. Their repair centers may not even have access to software or hardware for devices that aren't officially sold in the US market.
I'm not saying that the warranty is void, but unless you confirm it's valid with Sony and will be covered in your home country, I would not assume. I've got a lot of friends in the Philippines and they deal with that stuff all the time with items they have friends ship to them from the states. To the point where sometimes they ship items back to us for us to send in for repair, since the item is only covered under warranty in the US since that's where it was purchased. Similar circumstances may prove out for these.
That said, the prices are surprising. The SGP311 sold for $499 here in the states and I'd assumed the new Z2 Tablet 16GB wifi counterpart would sell for similar. I can buy that SGP511 model for $520-550 on Ebay. Even the LTE model is readily available in 16GB for $629. The cheapest I saw the TMobile complaint LTE Tablet Z was for about $650 in the states, without a subsidy.
I'm half tempted to buy a white 16GB LTE SGP521 just because I'm almost afraid prices will go up when the US model is available.
I may be overly pessimistic and completely wrong, but I both assume and expect that if I self-import an offshore Sony product that Sony USA week disavow any responsibility for it. Best case is that I would have to send it back to the country of export.

I was millimeters away from ordering the same model from the same seller - and may still. They were responsive to my inquiries and seemed like they would be reliable. They honestly answered my warranty question, which (to my shame) scared me away, or at least caused me pause. I'm not sure from your post... have you received it? Since they offered two-day delivery, I guessed they had the product in the U.S.A. already, which made me more comfortable about it not having to get through customs. How long did it take to arrive? It's supposed to have a U.S. plug; is it a satisfactory charger? Anyway, congratulations.

I can say that it is much cheaper now, than before...
I say I like it, and bought it at 18670..
from your POV though, it sucks, right?
I say I bought it at ~700 euros (~49K rupees), with the SmartWatch 2 included, and I thought it was the right price for the whole package.
I tell you more, I would have done it without the bonus of the watch as well.
Today is all about upgrades, you can't buy a phone/tablet/tv/pc/laptop and expect the company you bought it from to stick its head under the sand and wait for you to have the need for another device to upgrade its line of products.
I bought it on day one, for a premium price, for what I thought (and it was, and it still is) was a premium device.
I was OK with the price then, and it served me perfectly for this year or so.
Now it's 250 euros, so what?
Go buy a BMW M5 for 100K and resell it the year after, you'll see like half of your cash go down the toilet...
Bottom line, if Sony pleases us with another Ultra, I'll go with it.
If not, I may but another one for the price of a coffee just to keep a spare one.
