Rooting the new Huawei GR3 - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

After a frustrating and 'Wheel of Death' week, caused by the horrible Samsung Note 3 (my first and last SAMSUNG ever - can't really understand the hipe) I felt suddenly bought the relatively new Huawei GR 3. Several websites praise it as one of top medium smartphones.
I needed to root the Huawei, since all my apps + sys settings were with a Titanium Backup.
With the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, I used the super easy 'Towelroot app', but with the GR3 Towelroot didn't work .
I found the 'old' way with USB cable, a PC (switched to mac 10 years ago)and Olin etc. - too complicated.
Back to google and found this website with KingRoot to be found at cyberspaceandtime(dot)com
using
the new KingRoot App, I assume similar Towelroot
Then super easy, enable 'Install from unknown sources' in your settings, download the KingRoot..apk file to your Huawei, install and your phone is rooted.
To prove that your phone is rooted, you DL the 'SuperUser SU' app from Google Play and get the confirmation that your phone has root access. No cables, and done in less than 30min.
And by the way, I tried first to restore my apps and system settings with Titanium free version but after 5min non stop 'Ok' pressing, I organized the PRO version, which is with $6.02 not cheap, but worth every penny.
If you are short on cash, then you can download the Lucky Patcher for the Titanium to become the Pro version . Very important to update the general patch and the Titanium specific patch before you try to crack the app.
(to be found on NetBew(dot)com
Cheers from the Blackduck :highfive:

This is the Huawei WATCH forum, you need to find a forum for your phone!

There isn't any forum for this phone

[Q] Eliminating chinesses app from a STAR A3 (beginner level)

Hello all,
let me present my self as a beginner in the world of Android.
It has come an Star A3 to my hands, with Android 4.0 and among all great things of IceCream, few Chinese apps I want to get rid of
the phone is rooted (well, one headache less)
I have flash the recovery 592zn.com_recovery_Star_A3_MT6573.img with Mobileuncle tools (included in the mobile originally) and done a Boot/System/Data/Cache Nandroid backup
Apps I want to eliminate :
Baidu input (and add the standard input keyboard)
own Chinese launcher (I have already install LauncherPro, but I would love to get rid of the Chinese one completely)
UC xxxxx (some Chinese browser)
Root Explorer (Chinese version, to be able to install the English one)
ICS 4.0 (also Chinese version)
a Chinese flash-light
a Chinese dark/light switch screen
a Chinese version of the configuration menu
so, basically to keep a clean Android
so, where I have to look for help on how to do that ??
what short of help / tutorial am I looking for ?
I have installed:
http://www.ltr-data.se/opencode.html/#ImDisk
to be able to mount the nandroid img files in windows7-x64
but I can't see anything, it ask me to format the unit (?)
similar with Daemon Tools .
any help will be greatly appreciated.
thanks in advance.

My advice since you're rooted is install Titanium Backup and use it to uninstall everything you don't want. It's a root app that can get rid of virtually anything.
Seeing as you have a nandroid backup, in the unlikely case that the device won't boot at all without one or more of those apps, you can just restore the backup you have.

Star A3 for dummies
Hello
Ok I have searched for hours (as the video asked) and I cannot find an "android for dummies" guide. I dont know what a "root" is or what "titanium" is... so I may have found the correct forum - but I just don't understand it.
So the problem is this:
I bought a touch screen DualSim Android 2.3 GPS 3G MTK6573 Phone Star A3.
It arrived today BUT it has some chinese programmes on it (that I would like to clear) and I cannot seem to download any additional apps for it.
google.play wont work (apparently it doesnt support the device)
It has a few basic apps - but nothing wild or that I guess can't be re-downloaded again.
What would you recommend I do - do I wipe it and install something new or what. and if so please can someone explain it to me in small "for dummy" steps
I am not sure what else I need to tell you to give you abetter pic, but ideally I'd like this phone to work on the google apps system (or can you point me to where I can get similar apps)
On the "about phone" the
android version is 2.3.5
Kernel version is 2.6.35.7
I would really appreciate any help you can give me
Thanks
My first advice would be to try and achieve root on the phone. This should be relatively easy on a Chinese phone, most don't have great security.
Basically, "root" means to get increased permissions on the phone. There are certain files and actions on the phone that normally you can't do. With root, you can. Think of it as somewhat like logging into a computer as an Administrator rather than a standard user.
"getting root" basically means installing a hack to let apps on your phone do more than they could otherwise e.g. uninstall preinstalled apps.
To "root" your phone, you can use a tool like SuperOneClick or UnlockRoot. For both, you follow a few instructions, plug in your phone and click "Root" in the program, it'll work out the best way to do it for your phone and do it.
Once that is all done, there is a guide here for getting Google Apps (e.g. Play Store) working on unsupported devices: https://senk9.wordpress.com/2010/12...ogle-apps-gapps-on-your-android-device-phone/
Once you get Play Store working, Titanium Backup is an app you can install from there. Using root, it can uninstall any app you want.
Be careful with all this, if you're not you could break your phone.

Thank you so much! - and such a fast reply too!!!
I really apprecate your patience in explaining this all to me.
It sounds relatively straight forward - I will have a look at those progs and link you suggest tomorrow.
Obviously I dont want to break the phone either, then it would be more useless then it is already
Fingers crossed - will let you know how I get on.
Hi all,
Watched the video so I thought I would tag onto this thread instead of starting a new one.
Just bought a cheap star a3 dual sim android phone. This my foray into android phones and I am having some weird issues. Just a first note I have just rooted the phone but these issues where here before and after rooting. The A3 is a htc sensation clone i believe when my other half who has a htc desire tries to call the phone the phone goes straight into answer phone and rejects the call, she is on giff gaff in the uk and i have tried both a 3 network and orange sim and it happens on both. There is some weird chinese security software that I trying get remove but its seems very stubbon. Anyone any ideas. Ps battery life is awfull i only seem to get 6 hours from full to dead without hardly any use. Maybe I have loads running but unsure what I need to keep running.
Please help.
I have the star a3
Google play works perfectly. If you PM me, I am happy to send you the apk file for google play.
since you are rooted, I strongly suggest you get root explorer installed so you can go through and remove all the chinese apps.
Make sure you remove "himarket" its a big battery hog.
To the person who says their calls go straight to voicemail, remember this is a dual sim dual *standby* if you are using 2g or 3g cell data on one sim then the other sim cannot make or receive calls.
Also, there is no ICS for the Star A3, its just a skin on top of Gingerbread to make it look like ICS, if you go to settings, about phone and look, the version number will be 2.3.4 or 2.3.5 which means its gingerbread (if you really do have 4.0.1 ICS I would love to get a copy of the ROM for it!)

Can you clarify? I'm not sure what you mean. I don't find rooting instructions in a thread here.
Are you assuming the Trio Stealth Pro 7c and the Trio Stealth Pro 7 are the same thing, or do you know that they are?
Or do you mean it's already rooted out of the box, as the OP (a fellow newbie) reports here? (and what does that mean? That it even has a working Superuser.app and compatible su installed?
The manual (http://www.triomp3.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/Droid-stealth-manual.pdf <sic; that's the link on the site, even though it's named "Droid-stealth-manual") for the Trio Stealth Pro 7 says that one can do this:
1) Tap the setting icon.
2) Tap About tablet.
3) Tap System update, follow the onscreen instructions.
4) Tap Install system update only if there is new version available and you have the update file saved to your SD card.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=30709653#post30709653 (newer posts especially) seems like a good place to start with custom ROMs.

No it's not!
Trio Stealth 7C is rooted
I've seen a number of posts questioning whether the trio stealth 7C is rooted or not. So I tried a couple of things on my new tablet.
Since receiving it, I have only put CWM recovery 6 on it, which AFAIK does not change anything about root access.
My conclusion is that my tablet is rooted.
1) Using "adb shell", type "su" and did not get an error
2) installed terminal emulator, and typed "su" and did not get an error and the prompt went to a "#" symbol
3) Installed Titanium Backup Root and did backups successfully.
For comparison, I tried the first item above on some other phone that is not rooted and got an error about no having permission.
I suppose its possible that I did something along the way to get it rooted, but it certainly was not on purpose!
Trio Stealth Lite
I bought the Trio Stealth Lite, the 4.3" mini tablet, for my 3 yr old daughter as a traveling tablet. It's a perfect size for her tiny hands to bring along everywhere. It's much more portable than her 10" Nabi 2, plus at just $50, I don't care if she drops and breaks or loses it.
I wanted to add that this tablet to my surprise did come per-rooted, straight out of the box! After charging it up, I wanted to see by any chance it was per-rooted, since another kids tablet she had, the Meep was also per-rooted. (Side note, the Meep is a horrible tablet, I don't recommend it, returned after 1 week. I won't go into details, it'd be it's own separate forum). So, I installed Aptoide onto it, then Titanium Backup, which will tell you right away after you install and open it, if you have root access and indeed it did, straight from the box. After that, I downloaded and installed SuperSU and Busy Box, with no problems, which adds to the fact it's fully rooted already. Then I downloaded Lucky Patcher, since it has an option to install the normal Google Play Store or the modded version of it, since this tablet only came with the Amazon Store for apps/games. The Play Store works great on it, haven't came across an app/game that can't be installed onto it yet.
The best thing I did probably was after installing Root Explorer, I changed the "void fastb" file to swap the internal/external SD cards, which had only 1.7GB originally for apps/games, to now with the externalSD, as the internalSD with 29.7GB (32GB microSD), for apps/games! At first using a class 4 sdcard I had laying around, it'd have glitches sometimes not recognizing the externalSD after rebooting, but then I popped in a class 10 sdcard, the Sandisk Ultra SDXC (red/gray color card), and have had no problems ever since and still has 23GB+ for more apps/games! I also tweaked a few things to make it faster and longer battery life, which helped a lot. Its definitely the best $50 toy she has, I think..
So since, this Trio tablet came pre-rooted, there's a good possibility the other Trio's come pre-rooted too, and to test of yours is pre-rooted or not, you can simply follow what I did with my smaller Trio, first downloading Aptoide, then it's repos (for more apps). Using Aptiode, search, download and install Titanium Backup, SuperSU and Busy Box to confirm root access. Lucky Patcher and Root Explorer can also be found in Aptiode.
Oh by the way, I only had to install the Play Store, using Lucky Patcher, the other Google Apps that usually accompany it, was already installed on the tablet.
I would like to install a custom recovery for it, in case it ever crashes or freezes, and install back the factory ROM. It does have its own recovery, but can only be accessed thru the settings menu, which is no good, if it was to ever freeze up or can't boot. I tried all the different combos with the power, volume, and reset button, but can't ever access the recovery menu that way. It just takes me to the Android guy, lying open with a red exclamation point sticking out of its belly. Using the recovery thru the settings menu, actually takes you to a regular recovery menu, where you can pick to reboot, factory wipe, upgrade from SD, ect..
I tried installing CWM thru Rom Manager but it didn't have a recovery specific to this tablet and I wasn't sure if I could install a different tablets recovery onto this one..
If anyone happens to know how or where I can find one for this tablet, please let me know, I'd greatly appreciate it! :fingers-crossed:
Thanks in advanced!

Greetings, had a quick question for you. This was a great post, as I was having issues rooting this and had heard this device is aleady rooted. I was able to install Aptoid onto it with no issue, but when I tried Titanium Backup, it said the device was NOT rooted..? Do I need to install SuperSU first, then titanium backup? Thanks in advance if you get a chance to respond. I was able to get this device for $20 with a giftcard and was stoked to see how you got it setup.
Thanks!
Trio Stealth Lite Flixster problem
Hi,
I got the Trio Stealth Lite 4.5 inch screen and got a problem. I cannot play videos from my flixster account. I downloaded a ota root keeper and it did not help. So, can someone help me on how to root the device so I can use this device better, I don't want to mess it up. Thanks
Tried and thought i got it, but...
I have a Trio Stealth Pro 7c that I have been working on for over a week now to get Google play. It came rooted out of the box so I followed the above post with success. I downloaded Aptiode market, Titanium Backup, Busy Box, and all the rest suggested in that order. I loaded a mod version of Play that worked and I was playing games and loving it!! Then I powered down and went to bed. Next power on it had done a system reset and taken out all old markets and left only google play which was great except it seemed to add a partition to the internal memory which now wont allow me to download any apps and has erased all previous apps i loaded. It will fully function and I can use other app programs but if I download a google play app it says no room ( i now have have 2 internal storage menus 1 showing full with 35.44 mb apps and the second showing 1.71 gb total space with 1.65gb available.) Any thoughts on how I can either undo the partition so i can change to the original settings and start over or how to just undo the system restore that some how takes place at each power off? Not sure how I did it either! Thanks!

[Q] Rooting Huawei G-510-200, Almost Total Beginner

This is my first post, so be patient please. (Not normally a poster, just a lurker)
Alright, so I have had an Australian (I live in Australia) $129 Optus Huawei G-510-200 phone for almost a year now, and I tried rooting about 6 or so months ago. And Failed.
It didn't do anything bad, didn't brick, but did wipe my SD card. I just pasted the files back on and I was good, but a little scared. At the time I had lookout security installed, but I have since removed it. Now that my warranty is well and truly over, I thought it would be a good idea to try again at root.
Apparantly new users cannot post links, so I will just have to provide a Google search query instead... (Results should be at the top)
There seems to be 3 ways to do it.
1: Cydia Impactor
2: The one I tried last time that has no name but uses batch files and wizardry. Search: "how to root huawei ascend g510-200 theunlockr"
3: Kingo-Root Search: "Easy method how to Root Huawei G510 and G300" on YouTube (Again, should be at the top)
Sorry for the sniffling, this one might work, but no unrooting procedure was shown.
Now, some people say you have to unlock the bootloader, but others don't mention it at all... (For both methods)
And will either of these root methods wipe either or both storage's (SD or Internal)?
Also, one of my games (one I paid money for) says some users had trouble using it with a rooted phone, if I wish to play the game again, is there an un-root procedure?
Cydia Impactor or Kingo root seems easier and simpler.
Moderators: If I posted in the wrong place can you move me please?
And yes, I have done a decent amount of googlingering...
Oh, and can I install apps as per normal from the play store after root?
Extra info:
Underneath the battery (in the tray) is has the following:
MAC:509F278467FD
S/N:U6V7NC93A2601810
(Then a barcode)
IMEI:868496019652230
(Then another barcode)
Thanks!, I look forward to a reply and a Non-Bricked Device!

NEW ROOT METHOD FOR LOLLIPOP - Does this Root for those that took OTA? Testers?

This is a POSSIBLE Root method for 5.01+ for S4 but needs testers of which I cannot be.
So I read up on this Chinese company that managed to get root working for a variety of 32bit devices. I never fully took the OTA just dissected it(I never do! next time neither should u!)
Info gathered from: http://sur.ly/o/kingroot.net/AA001290
Obviously not my exploit. I know nothing just giving those that dont have root a chance maybe?

KingMaster for Phone
KingUser for Phone
From what I gather you use the PC version to root it currently. Download the .exe from the 1st link then install the file, plugin your phone and press the blue button. I'd try that 1st before trying the other files if that doesn't work theres a chance that the .apk or kingroot for the phone might you can try that as well. The last two files I listed appear to be more root oriented apps for removal of bloat or similar speed enhancements but also contain the ability to root if not already rooted... I haven't seen much on this new version of the app but a variant has been used to help root the S6. Different tho as they have 64bit we have 32bit. But from the press release it claims to successfully root S4 Lollipop along with Note3 and some others. Below is that Press release originally in chinese (with pictures) and translated by google:
KingRoot first a key Root Android L version of the Samsung S4, S5
Android 5.0 Lollipop (hereinafter referred to as Andrioid L) is the second major update 4.0, the biggest change is the UI user interface design, new Andrioid L system user interface more concise, more colorful, it has been widely recognized by users . Currently, there are already some Samsung S4, S5 and Note3 phone users receive OTA upgrade instructions, the first upgrade to the Andriod L system, of course, the whole rom download Brush upgrade rom can.
As a mobile player after upgrading to Andrioid L, or the first Root, which has become a habit. Currently, KingRoot first full support Andrioid L version of the Samsung S4, S5, Note3 model of a key root, for Samsung users to experience the new system, but can also enjoy such as modifying font, uninstalled own applications, shut down since the start of a process, etc. series of advanced features.
Kingroot PC version to achieve Android L version of the Samsung S4, S5 and a key root Note3
Case Samsung S4 process conducted by KingRoot root of:

First, Samsung S4 phone connected to the computer, then click the Start button KingRoot Root interface, you can wait a few minutes after the success of Root.

Exactly for Samsung S5, Note3 other models root process.
Root then build their own Andrioid L system
After the phone Root, users can begin to create their own exclusive Andrioid L system, for example: to modify the system fonts, uninstall system comes with the program (such as camera, contacts, etc.), modify the system's internal program (game cheats, change money , levels, etc.), the system landscape (change the percentage of electricity, transparent taskbar and other landscaping features), management software boot from the start, the application is automatically installed electronic market (the majority of games, systems management software), control CPU frequency, voltage (by controlling the CPU The voltage and frequency to control power consumption purposes), and so on.

In addition, after the phone Root can also be achieved, for example a malicious ad blocking, phone deep cleaning, game data backup application to move, change fonts, change the boot animation, brush into the Google service pack, view the phone system folders, modify the Hosts and other systems files and many other operations.
Figured it was worth a shot for you guys that don't have root any longer or those nubes looking to gain it for 1st time. If this works I can possibly work out a port to be able to remove the chinese apks and install SuperSu after rooted. Can you guys test and let me know results.... exactly what the phone does in each case would be useful.
crossing my fingers for you, good luck!

No luck. I've tried using the PC app in both Win7 and Win8 (virtual machines) and also tried using the APK.
Alas, I was one of those who foolishly applied the OTA. Tried this, both the PC and the phone versions, no luck. The phone version gives me an error of (google translated from chinese)

Hi, I'm new to all of this, and I'm looking into rooting my sch-i545 because VZW just pushed out Lollipop and I absolutely hate it. Nothing but problems on my device. So, what I'm getting from this is nobody has successfully figured out how to root around it yet?
Nope!

I also tried it and I keep getting this screen and it doesn't seem to work. I took the OTA out of impatience, but realized my mistake. Hope something comes out of all this.
Didn't work for me. Kingroot seemed to confirm it. (Translated text made zero sense but displayed an envelope with a check mark, will screenshot and post) but root checker says I'm not rooted and supersu says root isn't properly installed and needs to be rerooted.
King Root
Well I couldn't stand to wait so, I installed KingRoot & NO it did not work. tried twice.

It is a legit root tool. Just doesn't work for the S4, as of yet, and he was just asking for people to try it.

Guess it didnt work thanks for trying, looked promising.

Malware filled phone?

Hey guys, how are y'all doing?
Here's a little background on my problem:
A year ago bought a cheap-ass smartphone for my mom, from a big supermarket chain in my country that was selling french phones cheaply, it was only 60€ and my mom needed a phone, so there it is!
Anyway cut to the present, the phone is riddled of what I suspect is malware that installs itself as soon as I remove it such as Free Games, com.google.toolkit, MiniChrome, N62Androidpt, System Component, adservice, and a couple others.
It also keeps switching wi-fi off, and turning on that option that allows apps to be installed from unknown sources, and worst of all it keeps opening the phone in built browser with adds, and even porn sites on occasion, which is really not desirable as my very young aged nieces love stealing the phone and try to use it.
I installed malwarebytes, also did a factory reset to no avail it fixed nothing.
So I decided to flash a stock rom to see if I could get rid of it, searched around and found a repository of stock roms or firmwares or whatever it's called (I'm not too familiar with this side of smartphones), which I'd love to post, but apparently can't because I've last than 10 posts: doc-doapi.com/EM/selecline/smartphone/
It has a lot of roms for different models of my brand.
Used the UpgradeDownload - R2.9.2015 tool that was in that folder and flashed it successfully.
After I turned on the device it opened the new phone setup process, logged in to my google account, and restores my stuff like contacts, and a few trusted google apps from before the flash, but it soon started again to install those malware apps I stated up there on it's own, and it was soon in the same state as before...
Anyway here's some info about my phone that probably should've gone to the top.
It's a Selecline phone
Model S4S5in3g
Android version: 5.1
Kernel version: 3.10.65
Compilation number: S3S5in3g.V1.2_20160307
At the back it has a sticker and another model number 870712 which I used to find the folder on that repository of stock roms.
And that's all in a big nutshell, anyone has any tips?
Thanks.

Do you have login credentials for this Auchan website where you found the ROMs? It is asking for a login ID and password. I need ROM for Model S6S5IN3G.
Quick tip for getting rid of Malware even before they start. Go to Settings and check Data Usage. See which apps are using lots of data (downloading junk into your device). Note if there are any strange sounding apps that are downloading a lot of data, especially if it is not an app that you yourself were directly using.
Next, flash the stock ROM again. Once you flash the new ROM, you have to find a way to root the device. Try KingRoot. Then after the phone is rooted, go to Playstore and download SD Maid. Run SD Maid and give it root access. In the settings for AppControl of SD Maid, allow it to show system apps. Then run app control and freeze any strange-looking user apps (or anyone that was downloading a lot of data) and system app that are not required.
Please, let me know about the website and how to access the ROMs.
As mentioned before, install a clean room again. Copy virustotal app from the attachment of these post (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77053739&postcount=11) to SD-card and install it. Turn wifi on and let it run. Control every app and the system-apps. Post a screenshot of the findings. If there are findings, then the room is infected. The only way to deal with this, is to root it, install rootexplorer an kill the infected app. This can be dangerous, if for example, the lauchner is infected, an alternative launcher must first be installed and set as default, before you can kill the infected one (otherwise you will own a useless phone until you flash it again ;o).
Hey guys, thanks for trying to help.
I tried literally everything before, I've even somehow got a kitchen up and running and I removed everything that looked suspicious and all those bran add-ons from the rom, but even then I'd still get infected.
I didn't really try the antivirus route though and to be honest I already shelved that phone, but I'm kinda bored, so I'll try y'all suggestions, an extra working phone can always come in handy.
