Because probably u use it on Verizon and is giving you those glitches and reboots etc.

More than that: 2 major updates failed on Wi-Fi (sim removed). Capacitive buttons sometimes don't respond. Battery life is awful. Good hardware marred by bad ZTE software tweaks.

Every good phone has issues on Verizon...even Nexus phones have issues on Verizon...the button issue may be a bad phone you got...this phone is working very good for most.

Phone has worked great for me with no issues. Haven't applied the second update though. Battery life is better than my HTC 10, which I'm now selling.

Bootloader now unlockable?

On mine I didn't get the update yet

My right to complain and I already have an RMA from Amazon so I have 29 more days to complain until fixes are in place. [emoji33]
I just did another factory reset for the second time in 24 hours. This time I am on TMO sim: no updates being pulled. Again, capacitive buttons working better after reset.

Like others told you might have a bad unit, most of us that using a different SIM card not Verizon or Sprint doesn't have your problems.

True I have the same problem Google play force close , bug report, I will report that for further updates
Sent from my SM-G935W8 using XDA-Developers mobile app

Can anyone grab and share the Ota update package? It'll help in understanding the system and starting the development for the phone. I haven't gotten the update myself yet.

I am using TMO as indicated in my latest. True, could be bad unit. Factory resets seem to fix some issues. Still doesn't explain why the software updates are not being pulled after the failed attempt despite the reset. As I said, good hardware but I have a feeling it is software related.

This is a problem with Marshmallow, not the Axon 7. Many, many phones running Marshmallow 6.x have the exact same issue with adding a location.

Nexus 5 camera question re: G2

So, I just watched the new Nexus 5 ad showing off the camera.
Being pretty serious about photography, my experience with the G2 has been very mixed. In bright light, it's quite good. In anything else (including moving subjects, low light, and dynamic range) it is pretty much garbage. Seems mostly due to image processing and metering as the bright light pics are really good.
I don't think Google would pump up the camera so much if it wasn't excellent, so is this something we might be able to port over once the N5 is released? Or is it going to be hardware specific to the camera module in the N5?
I think it is a hardware specific

I'm not sure about improvements. But pictures look sharp and auto focus works just fine. And the app needs to be resized. Or it should be coded to hide the softkeys. But hey. It works

It does not, at least on the stock rom.
Photosphere works on aosp Roms for me if you add the libs
Sent from my LG-G2 using xda app-developers app
N5 and G2 images look very similar high contrast in light and some over exposed in dark. Looks like they cherry picked code of the G2 as expected. Don't know why you'd use a phone if you're serious about photography.
Sent from my LG-D802 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Photosphere is also in the stock camera app. It's called vr panorama.
Or is there a difference?
Sent from my LG-D802 using xda app-developers app
The way you block each image is different (match square rather than pointing at dot).
I read that aligning the square is supposed to get even better results but I've never had photosphere and have only tried vr pan once so can't say. My first attempt turned out mostly nice though. With some real issues that I attribute to taking some shots out of sequence. Like a whole section then rotating around to start shooting elsewhere before coming back....

Ah and you can't set the camera higher than 8 megapixels.

Just a quick question

I have an s4 still with the mdk version but it has some issues. My proximity sensors are bad I have issues waking the phone during calls, this only seems to happen in cm based or aosp based Roms (I don't know why) so my question is. I'm thinking of Odin back to stock and getting a replacement. I'm sure its going to arrive with the nc5 update. To my understanding the newest update is rootable right???

Try to odin back to mdk, reroot and install a new rom via loki. For someone with mdk you are giving up to easy, and won't get any sympathy from us on any build past mdk. On root for nc5 you can find that info with some basic common sense and reading comprehension.
You have dust on the sensor under the screen. You can blow some air through the top speaker to clear it out or take te phone apart and do it that way. It's a hardware problem not software.
Blowing air into the speaker is not a recommended method. Its very easy to damage the speaker. To determine its a hardware problem type *#0*# in your dialer. A diagnostic menu will appear. Then press sensor. Now move your hand near the proximity sensor and the phone will vibrate and the screen will turn green. If this does not happen then your hardware is bad or something's blocking it. If it does then its a software issue. I know this diagnostic menu is present on almost all Touchwiz builds and many aosp roms. Let me know if this helps.

Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
There's a known software issue with this phone and the proximity sensor on aosp roms . Some new aosp builds have a feature to force the screen on after a call.
Getting a replacement is pointless, you'll still just be limited to touchwiz then anyway.

You need to be on a rom that has the HiddenMenu.apk in it. Go into system/app and look to see if it's in there. If not then you need to flash a rom that has this apk. I'd go with a TW most have this. Once on one that has this apk then go to efs/carrier long press on the HiddenMenu text file and choose open in text editor (I'm using Root Explorer) change OFF to ON then reboot. After reboot open dialer then type *#0*# and follow @Unfathomable instructions.

Persistent notification removal

I use an app called Notifications Off. You need to be rooted for it and it will stop all notifications for the apps or services you allow it for but it's done the job. The permissions manager still works as I have to grant permissions whenever accessing somewhere new in an app for the first time, contacts or gallery for example, so don't see any issue getting rid of the notification.
Tried rooting, but I'm on the latest software and you can't root that yet
Sent from my P9000 using Tapatalk
Is that 20169419? Have you been able to flash TWRP recovery?
It is rootable you've just got to make sure you have the latest version of super su which isn't what appears in the forum post on elephone HK I originally tried. Can't post links yet but I did find the correct files someone posted in the thread about the latest update. Look for a post be @new7 with a link to elephone mobile eu. I know some people aren't interested in rooting but it's essential for some of the stuff I do in Tasker.

Yes you can
the app permissions you are using is the elephone app permissions. if you go to settings and in the search bar type app permissions and then turn that off the icon will go. This will then enable the default marshmallow permissions to work in the bnackground without the icon. Weirldy elephone decided to have their own app permission even though Google has it in by default in 6.0.
Hope this works for you

I have found a solution!
1:You have to install the Xposed
Framework
2: Search in Moduls for GravityBox and instal it. Follow the Instruction off the app.
3: In GravityBox go to statusbar tweaks >
ongoing notification blocker > mark permission control > OK > restart you're device.
4: you are done [emoji106]

Cheers got them. So there's custom ROMs already then. Only had the phone week & I've been reasonably happy with the stock rom rooted so not really researched alternatives. I'll look into it more tomorrow but I'd appreciate your opinions on the differences in performance if you spent any amount of time with stock before moving to Eragon. Cheers.
Sent you a pn about my impressions of the rom.

The US/Snapdragon variants are actually missing the framework and apk, it works just fine in the international versions. It has been removed and replaced by our/US carrier versions of Caller Id that you have to pay for which is total bs. There is a thread about this in the original Note 7 forum.
Nice find, there is quite a bit of stuff to get into in there, you can change the roaming settings from just voice to voice and data as well as auto call recording

Damn yeah that is dumb. Our version isn't the same or as good. It doesn't screen calls or give us useful info. Can you link to the thread? Hopefully we can get this working without root

This did not work for me. Then today I was poking around in the settings and got it to work. I went into Applications in settings and then in the top right enabled system apps. I scrolled down to smart caller ID and clicked it. I went to permissions and enabled contacts.
Anyway an hour later I got a call from a family member from their home phone. I do not have this persons name saved in my phone. It said their first, last, and middle initial right on the screen. I was like wow it's working. So naturally I went into package disable pro and turned it off LOL. I tested it again with the same caller and this time it didn't show their caller ID, only their phone number. I tried to re enable the feature and have not been able to get it back since. If someone can try these steps and see how it works, maybe we can figure it out.
Kept messing with settings and it started working again. Rebooted and it went away.

For the phone recorder, where does it record to? where can we find the recording for playback and deletion?
Seh6183,
Where is the setting that you enabled the permissions for smart caller id. I cant seem to find it in settings, applications, system apps, smarcallerid?
Thanks in advanced

Use the same app from the OP and search for "smart". It will populate smart caller ID. Create a shortcut. Click the shortcut and it will give you permissions for smart caller id. Then try it.
Good find. I added a toggle for data that's missing on at&t

[A2017]ZTE Nougat ROM Preview

Well, now isn't this interesting. Seems ZTE has published some early screenshots from the 7.0 ROM.
http://www.myzte.cn/thread-316781-1-1.html
I find the built in root/unroot interesting.
Now this is what I'm talking about. Everything listed here makes me very happy to see it come to fruition. I didn't see anything about the notification bell everyone dislikes, bit we'll wait and find out.

What do they mean by saying root ? It would be preroot ?

Don't see any screenshots, did they pull them already?
This indeed would be nice, but it could also be another dangling of the carrot on a string. We have heard things from them before.
Check on the laptop and u can see the screenshots and they do show one of them whit that option
Root device
Unroot device ?
That would save so much time to us ? at least to me I'm not to Bright when it comes to mess whit the method they have to root right now I try one time and did work so I just left that alone ??

To anyone not seeing screenshots make sure you select request desktop site option. Looks promising so far.
I'm not a fan of the built-in rooting function unless it's a completely open source ROM. Like, I'd rather they just support CyanogenMod officially. With all of the implications of root I don't understand why. If anything, I'd rather have some more security.
My guess would be that the root / unroot would just be for in house testing of the ROM. It would be odd to deliver that in the final version, but you never know.
How hard would it be or what needs to happen so ZTE or someone that works there would provide a program like Odin for Samsung where u can restore the device to factory settings like old times whit the captivate ... That would save lots of time for the company and for us not having to send the phone to them to reflash it ? it may be to old fashion but I don't see why not !

I'm just as excited for this as everyone else, but this doesn't seem like the right section for this until we have a flashable 7.0 rom.

Android already has a way of flashing full roms. You don't need Oden or any other proprietary tools to do that. What we need is for ZTE to release a full factory image for the US model. They already have some out for the other versions.
The way it looks they probably won't release them ?

Me either. But Chinese users seems to love their built in root features -- it's all over the forums as a request. And I've seen it with other Chinese devices as well. It would seem odd for an official ROM to have it built in, especially with the security focus Google has been taking the last few years.
3rd party ROMs can do what they like (with all the security features finding their way into apps now, I'm starting to lean toward it not being included at all, so the ROM can still pass tests and people can flash whatever type of SU they want then).
Most importantly I want to know why he was searching for "spang bang" on his work computer....

Someone posted a lot more pictures from the Nougat work -- oddly flashed via TWRP.

Lockscreen notifications! Never been so excited to see those. Maybe it's a cm14 build?
