Yes, it has USB 3.0+ (Snapdragon). - Note 7 Guides, News, & Discussion

I have a T-Mobile Note7. I used a 1 GB file stored on my PC's SSD, transferred through a USB A 3.1 motherboard port onto the phone's UFS internal storage for this test.
Using the included Samsung cable, the file maxed out around 50 MB/s. Using a USB A to C cable (3.0 to 3.1 - stupid as there is no benefit but I wanted to mention it), this same file transferred at about 160 MB/s.

Great to see Samsung embracing Type-C and USB 3.0. It'll be extremely useful in the future when transferring files from a phone with ufs 2.1 to a PC with an SSD.
Also, I hope you're OK after using a bomb as your daily phone

I got curious and tried this out since I have the Exynos note 7. Used a 1gb test file and copied it to the internal storage using an aukey 3.0 usb A to type C cable and the same app you used (lite version however). I can confirm that the note 7 Exynos FD has usb 3.0

ASUS Extension Kit - USB-adapter
My question was whether I can connect an external HDD without this adapter, but using female to female usb adapter or usb to mini usb.
they don't sell this adapter in my country yet (they started selling the prime about a month ago) and I wanna know if I can manage to connect it without this adapter.
Your cable proposal should work - the only thing is to try and keep the cable as short as possible. I think the USB spec. says something like the minimum transmission speed must be met with a 5m cable

[Q] Connect via USB but microSD card is not shown?

I have a Mac and in the past, I can connect my HTC Thunderbolt and Motorola Triumph to the Mac via USB and the microSD card inside each device will be automatically shown on my Mac. No driver needed.
However, with the Samsung Note, when I do the above, NO microSD card is shown. The Note does show "MTP Connected".
Is there anything I need to do different to have the microSD card shown in my Mac when connecting my Note to the Mac via USB?
Nobody?
UPDATE: Samsung Galaxy Note DOES NOT ALLOW USB storage mode.
If you were able to AND you are using STOCK ROM, show it to me.
I guess no one transfer large files via USB... i.e. multiple files in Gb's...
Its under Settings - wireless - USB
Don't mess with USB when you can get a great wifi transfer app for under 2 bucks:

usb is much faster for large amounts of files.
And AirDroid is free, why pay?

[Q] Android Head Units

Hey everyone,
Been searching around for a decent Android head unit and stumbled upon these:

I'm interested in a single DIN unit so that the screen can be hidden away when I don't need it. Primary function would be to interface with my Megasquirt ECU and display necessary gauges for me via MSDroid or Shadow Dash.
Those above examples have dual core 1GHz A10 CPUs with 1GB RAM, running Android 4.0. Not too bad.
Does anyone have experience with these particular models? Or any other recommendations.
Something discrete or able to be easily tucked away is important, I have a very minimalist interior and would like to keep it that way.
Trying to find out if it has USB OTG or USB Host, planning to use a USB to Serial RS232 converter. I contacted TradeSolution and they said the head units don't support USB OTG or Host.
I know the units above use WiFi/3G USB dongles, and you can plug a USB hard drive to it. Doesn't that mean it does have OTG/Host functions?

help needed - OTG cable, with a twist - dual micro and usb A

I think I have checked every OTG thread there is and I have either missed it or it does not exist.
I am looking for the following
I have a nexus 7, a 2.5" travel HDD with micro usb and a travel charger with normal USB. I would like to connect the lot together so that:
the tablet can read files from the HDD
the tablet gets charged from the battery pack
What I would need is for a micro USB to connect to the HDD with micro USB, and to the charger with USB A male.
Is his something which is:
a- possible
b- available
c- DIY hackable
I have already (but do not allow a minimal amount of cables, and connections, as with these below, I either have not the full solution, or yet another connection which can drop/brake/unplug during operation

I think it would be a way to upload a modified kernel, that would allow this, but i have no experience with compiling kernels. Is there something already available for the Redmi 5 Plus?
Thank you!
I managed to get it working. This is how, maybe it will help somebody.
1. First you have to unlock your bootloader.
2. Then install a custom recovery, i went with OrangeFox
3. After that i installed LineageOS 18.
After the ROM instalation everything works perfectly. I now have OTG and the phone is charging at the same time.
I needed this old phone to run OctoPrint for my 3D printer, instead of buying a rasberry PI 4, which is expensive at the moment and lower spec than the Redmi 5 Plus. So this is a huge win, as i already had the phone and it was collecting dust. Until now.
