It does not have GPS. So you can't run Pokemon Go or other GPS demanding apps.

Pokemon need GPS.I used to try but failed.
Even Mi Pad 3 doesn't have GPS. Why are they always ditching GPS?

I'm asking you for HELP because I lost hope how to fix my problem with my new Asus Zenfone 5 on my own. I bought phone from China - Spemall.com (good and safe website). Phone is brilliant and very well made all is perfect except one thing - it was no play store installed. All other phones and tablets from them had play store installed this is first time when I had device without it.
I have this phone for two days now I was trying almost everything (in my opinion everything) to install both first Google Play Services and after that Play Store.
I downloaded both latest versions apk and first installed services and after play store but when trying to tap in play store icon all what I getting is
---Unfortunately Google play services has stopped.
I was cleaning data, cache, reinstalling both apps and even I did few times factory reset but nothing. I was still getting famous massage --- Unfortunately Google play services has stopped. Whatever I press Google settings or play store it will always end up in this same way.
Phone is not rooted!!!
I was using guides from you tube because that was easy start and you must start somewhere and sometimes when problem is little you are able to fix it but this time is different and my knowledge and you tube is not enough that's why I asking you guys to help me in this difficult moment.
Any help will be highly appreciated.

Thanks for you help I did installed this before but did not liked and after watching you tube I found how to install: mobile 1 ---- Aptido and Amazon store (Amazon is tragically bad with few apps free).
Mobile 1 and Aptido are very good I must find out what I did before because you tube does not work I had Google play services installed and I was working few things on you tube just to check if they work.
Still looking for solution to get Google play services and Google play store to work .

Not yet is new model and that's why we have so much problems nobody knows yet what a schame.

But idiots send me CN_user version... Stupid idiots... and there is no PLAY STORE..
There is(icon like bag / ASUS (written) ) but its only ChINESE.. you can find so aplications and install them... i installet outlook.com, viber, metatrade, display test, google maps,
its working you can install aplications.. BUT FU KIN ChINESE....
WHY those spemall think i need chinese version.... i wrote to them for help... to install play store or WW version... but stil they dont help me...
and i think to send back this phone..

Go to this forum, got method to change frm CN ver to WW ver. In pg 70 onwards. Must go to asus.com singapore site to download the official firmware.
Meanwhile, enjoy this beautiful phone!

I use Zenfone 5(LTE) with kitkat for a while and I found a problem with Google Play Services / Open GMail/ and other apps , there is a problem with this version, I seen a error messages "Unfortunately, Google Play Services has been closed", / Unfortunately, Gmail has stopped", I don't know that its come from Google or on ASUS firmwares. If you have seen this error? i Think this Firmware already infected with new virus, i hope someone help me to solve this problem

I have same problem and I CAN'T FIND A METHOD
Hi there,
I am trying to install Pokemon GO on Memu 2.7.2 from the website apk mirror (can't link it cuz I don't have enough posts)
Every app is easily installed however Pokemon GO fails to install without giving me any reason why.
Has anyone encountered the same problem and has a possible fix?

Same problem here. Haven't found a fix for it yet. The apk worked fine on mobile so that's not the problem.
We'll probably have to wait till it's downloadable through the playstore.
Yes they are blocking devices that can't get the app from the PlayStore and banning people that are sideloading it

There's actually a Lollipop version now.
I was able to install it from the Play Store, but it still force closes after I launch it.
Edit: I actually got it working. I just had to set up Google Play Games. It's working great now!

I installed the lollipop version and installed Play Games, and it still force closes the app upon startup. Was there anything else you had to do to get it to work?

Did you open Play Games and make sure you're signed in? That's all I did. Which version of Pokemon Go are you using? I have 0.29.2 which was released today.

Yeah, I installed Play Games, signed into my account, and clicked around on a few things to be sure I was signed in correctly. Then I just I installed the game from the Play Store, which I would assume is the most up to date version.
Edit: Just verified - it's 0.29.2
Double edit: I opened Play Games, navigated to "My Games" or whatever, and opened the game from inside Play games, and it worked. Wont work if I try to open it from the home screen though.
having same problem but going though play games didnt fix it for me. Running the latest memu beta, game installs from play store, run game from play games and still crashing. Thoughts?

She can get through when she starts it up using Wi-Fi, and switches to mobile internet afterwards. Whenever the game crashes, however, she is forced to find a Wi-Fi spot again to start up Pokémon Go.
Apart from Pokémon Go, she never has issues with Mobile Internet, so it's probably not related to the provider. Tethering isn't working either; she can't get in either when I'm making a mobile hotspot.

Perhaps your region isn't supported niantic... It was working for me with the apk long before Pokemon came to Canada, and Ingress worked fine in Canada too. Download ingress and see if it works in your region. Ingress is another game Niantic developed before, it has the same concept as Pokemon Go.

I live in Canada and it has already been officially released here. I was able to install an .apk with version 29.0 and then update it from the google play store. That didn't work. I then uninstalled it and was able to install again straight from the google play store. That also didn't work. It keeps saying my GPS signal is not working but google maps works fine and I have my GPS set to high accuracy.
Ingress works properly and I just tried using the Android Device Manager from Google and it pinpointed my phones location perfectly.

Glad you saved some money
I have the same problem as your girlfriend. What I do to "solve" it is connect to a VPN with mobile data and open the game, and when I get through the loading screen I disconnect from the VPN. Hope it helps!
Just bought the Pegasus 2 plus X550 from China and trying to add my Google account.
Although Play is installed and it allows me to enter my email and password, it authenticates but then just closes the app and the login is not completed. The attempted sign in is recorded as I get an alert from Google.
Is this happening because it is from China and how to do I get around this?

I manually update Google Play Services (I used version 10.0.84 (248-137749526)) from reputable alternative sites like APKMirror.
Then I was able to sign in to the Play Store.
*The phone then basically went nuts for about half an hour as it updates the other Google components in the background.*
After that, I was able to use it properly, the google account is signed-in.

I dont know any way without official update but you can trick your friends in showing that you have android 7.1 nougat using the android n ify xposed module and changing the android release to 7.1 by editing build.prop using es file explorer
