What did you use to decompile the apk? I tried but some of the structure was incomplete. It uses the old com.google.android.maps.v2.API_KEY but the maps failed as of 1.07 according to reviews on the app, possibly because the dev updated to the newest API but didn't update the API or key to com.google.android.geo.API_KEY in AndroidManifest. The com.google.android.maps.v2.API_KEY is a legacy component and will only work with the legacy v2 maps API. If you can get a copy of v.1.06 you might find it to load the maps if the case is an incomplete update with v.1.07, but these are only theories without seeing the complete source.
From google maps:
Note: As shown above, com.google.android.geo.API_KEY is the recommended metadata name for the API key. A key with this name can be used to authenticate to multiple Google Maps-based APIs on the Android platform, including the Google Maps Android API. For backwards compatibility, the API also supports the name com.google.android.maps.v2.API_KEY. This legacy name allows authentication to the Android Maps API v2 only. An application can specify only one of the API key metadata names. If both are specified, the API throws an exception.
I was able to get the maps working worldwide. I was correct in my theory that he screwed up the maps API. Use geo and a new API_KEY, fix the maps method to use the new API, change GET_TASKS to REAL_GET_TASKS so it doesn't halt&&catchFire on newer phones and resign it with the new key.

Redmi Note 3 Pro Special Edition (Kate) unable to add Google Family children account

I'm having issue trying to reset my device to use Google Parental controls (Google Family Link) - doesn't seems to allow me to add children even though the device meet the requirements.
Currently using Pixel Experience 8.1 ROM, but I tried Lineage OS 14, as well as MIUI 8.2.1.
It seems to complain that Update is required and please try again.
Anyone having similar issue?
Bump. No help guys?

Root Call Blocker

Hello!
I used the Google phones until the Nexus 5. Now I went to exchange and the price to import to Brazil is absurd. I bought the Xiaomi AI M1.
I used Call Master (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fahrbot.apps.blacklist) as a call blocker and SMS but this application is not working on Xiaomi MI A1 with Anrdroid 8.0 ( Oreo).
I also can not make SuperSU work on the Xiaomi MI A1.
I've always used SuperSU on my smartphones.
Now I'm using Magisk. I do not know if Call Master is not working because I'm using Magisk for root. The Call Master developer only uses SuperSU. But this developer does not support (even though I'm paying for the application).
Can someone tell me a root call and SMS blocking application that works on the Xiaomi MI A1 with Android 8.0?
Thank you.

Redmi factory spyware: Do I need to flash custom ROM?

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 9s was my top choice for phone to buy until I today read the Forbes article about Xiaomi spywware (different from bloatware… it's send user behaviour data to Chinese servers about not just web use but even music, folders, status bar, app use…
Questions:
1. Do European firmware also have this problem?
2. Will community ROMs like LineageOS solve this problem?
3. Can modified hosts file solve this problem?
The problem is with Xiaomi browser, you can use another browser you trust (Firefox, Chrome, etc.) and forget the concerns. However, Xiaomi released an statement two weeks ago explaining the data collected and a way to disable it. (https://blog.mi.com/en/2020/05/02/l...onse-to-media-coverage-on-our-privacy-policy/)
If you are very concerned about your privacy, yes, a custom ROM will help, because most customs ROMs are built over open source projects and focused on protect your data and privacy. Note that the Redmi Note 9S is new on the market, so the community development isn't mature enough. Maybe you can choose the Redmi Note 8, with more time on the market and with more community development available. Another alternative are Xiaomi Mi A2 or Mi A3, they have the advantage to have Android One, so you get rid of Xiaomi Services -and possible spying- out of the box.
