How to Root Galaxy Note 7
First of all big big thanks to @Chainfire for making this possible and effort he took to made this without own device.
Right now no multiple methods are available so writing here simple easiest method available to root Note7.
1. You will require TWRP (ignore if you already have it)
How to Flash TWRP ?
- Download Odin 3.12.3 or higher
- Next you required id TWRP recovery. If you already have one then skip this, otherwise download TWRP for your device and flash using Odin. In case Odin Fail during flash, reboot to recovery - wipe cache and try again. Here is original thread for TWRP support.
- Download Latest SuperSu 2.77 OR Newer if any available from this original thread.
- Copy SuperSu zip you have downloaded to SD card OR USB OTG drive
- Now Flashing TWRP
Open Odin - Select TWRP tar file you have downloaded above with AP tab of odin. Reboot tour device to download mode. (Switch Off device - Vol down + Power + Home - keep pressing till you show download mode screen pre message. - Press volume up when asked to continue) Now you will see downloading screen.
Connect device - Go to Option menu of Odin - Uncheck Auto reboot and keep rest of options as it is.
Now Flash (Start)
When Odin display message about flashing finished (Passed) - Disconnect the device and ling press Vol down + Power
As soon as display turns off, Press Vol Up + Power + Home.
This will boot your device to recovery and you will have TWRP instaed of stock recovery.
IMPORTANT : In case Odin say Fail while flashing TWRP, DON'T BE PANIC but simply reboot to recovery and clear cache and repeat procedure.
Select - Install then - Select Storage - here select according you have copied your SuperSu zip depending on Sd card or USB
Navigate to Supersu zip and select to flash (swipe to right)
Keep patience for few minute and reboot device (to system) when flashing done
Check Supersu app in drwaer.
Your device should have root access now.
Once you have root access DON'T FORGET TO MAKE EFS BACKUP EFS Backup Thread.

Awesome work Doc!

Will this work on Tmobile?

Thank you very much

Should specify which models your method is for. This way could potentially make paper weights out of North American models! This method and recovery is for Exynos processors only!

Process should remain same ( Provided your BL isn't locked) but just you need recovery for your device.
I have edited OP and linked to general page of TWRP download instead of F/FD

has anyone confirmed this working on the 930fd model??

So you were able to root your 930FD with this method?

This of course trips Knox and invalidates warranty?

Dr.Ketan, really appreciate for your details explain for getting root, this will be the first time I did it by myself with following your instructions step by step, my 930FD just rooted and keep testing if there is any problem for it.

Same usual question. Will this trip the KNOX?

Obviously.

It's kind of funny how the SD model can be rooted and keep its warranty. But the Version with the Unlocked BL wiil be void when rooted. Wish we could just combine both.

Known Issues
doesnt boot due to qcom boot security.
Post and let me know!!!
How to install with Odin
(USB) Disconnect your phone from your computer
Start Odin3-vX.X.exe
Click the PDA button, and select cwm-grand2.tar
Put your phone in download mode (turn off phone, then hold VolDown+Home+Power to boot - if it asks you to press a button to continue, press the listed button, or run adb reboot download command)
(USB) Connect the phone to your computer
Make sure Repartition is NOT checked
Click the Start button
Wait for Android to boot
Done (if it took you more than 30 seconds, you goofed)
NOTE: Sometimes the device does *not* boot into recovery mode. Just do the entire procedure again if this happens. If it still will not install, make sure that in Odin "Auto Reboot" is not checked. Then after flashing, pull the battery, and boot with VolUp+Home+Power button to boot into recovery manually. This will start the install process.

The recovery doesn't boot.. It gets redirected to download mode.
Probably because of secured bootloader..
Safestrap might work!!..
so before we flash we do to remove cwm recovery from the tar file? or we flash this tar? .. and also where is the stock recovery ? if this cwm not work we can get back to the stock recovery.
reply very soon

Just was informed that this device appears to be locked down with knox. Knox is Samsungs latest locking method. Some devices with knox dont restrict booting modded boot images (boot/recovery) and some are locked down tighter than grannies panties. The Grand 2 seems to be locked down.
Thanks
Thanks for your efforts..
hope some day we could break Knox security layer :good:

There is no knox security in system and in bootloader like in note2 , S4 and S5 devices .Those devices has knox trip indicator in download mode luckily our device don't has that indicator .Also our device root is supported by @Chainfire .It's just the qualcomm secure boot that restrict any custom recovery and kernel to work in our device .The safestrap recovery can work only if some recognised dev can help us out .

Need stock recovery for 4.4.2 running grand 2. Plz Help...
SM-G7102..... ODIN flashable file

[ROOT][ODIN][SM-P600][4.4.2 and 5.x.x] CF-Auto-Root

This is for the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition with android 4.4.2 and 5.x.x with model number SM-P600 not the SM-P601
This page HERE has step by step instructions if you are confused, however, it is fairly simple and just a few steps if you are familiar with the process already.
1. Download Root file HERE
2. Extract that file
3. Make sure USB Debugging is Check on Setting>General>Developer Option
4. If Developer Options do not appear anywhere, go to Setting>General>About Device. Then hit build number several times until it says Developer Options have been turned on.
5. Turn Off The Note 10.1, than go to Download Mode by pressing and holding the Volume Down+Power buttons together (long press until the boot screen appear), now press Volume Up key to proceed to Download Mode.
6. Now connect your Galaxy Note 10.1 P600 to your computer via USB cable
7. In Odin3 screen, you should see a COM Port number like “0:[COMX]” at ID:COM section and “Added!” text at the message box. This means your device has been detected by Odin3.
8. Make sure that, only the “Auto Reboot” and “F. Reset Time” options are checked.
9. Now, click on the AP (PDA in older Odin) button and select the CF-Auto-Root-lt03wifi-lt03wifixx-smp600.tar.md5 file.
10. Finally, click on the Start button to begin the rooting process, wait up to a few minutes
11. Once completed, you would see “PASS!” message in ID:COM port having green background
*Your Tablet should automatically reboot after completion. You can now disconnect your Tablet from computer
**Also, you should open up SuperSU and update the binary the normal way not TWRP/CWM. That mode did not work for me so do normal.
Attached is the file you can also download from step 1.

this change the knox count, right?
Only Towelroot works without triggering knox. But its not available for exynos SoCs.
Can't get this to work unfortunately am running stock 4.4.2 and it flashes just fine via odin, goes to the "loading" root procedure with the pirate android but no Su gets installed nor is it rooted (as verified with root checking apps including manually installing super su)
Device; SM-P600
Build: K0T49H.P600UEUCNI1
Android Version: 4.4.2
Kernel version: 3.4.39-1462259
Device Status: Custom (??)
Update; Ah it might be due to the firmware I am using. Going to try retry this with UEUCND2 and see if this is absolved.
Update 2 (update to above); OK Kies just flashes the NK2 rather than the ND2... this also does not work so just waiting for ND2 to finish downloading.
Update 3; yup! Flashing ND2 worked just fine. Super Su wasn't installed but it was rooted so just manually installing is no biggie. Thanks!

Thanks for posting this. I saw the NK2 update on Kies but didn't get it after I read your post, so I was able to root ND2 using this thread. I read that NK2 fixes some issues with Chromecast though, so I'd still like to update to that if possible. OTA updates now don't work, but when I connect to Kies, it still asks if I want to upgrade to NK2. Has anyone tried this from ND2 and successfully kept root using SuperSU "Survival Mode"? If not, any other way to get to NK2 stock rooted? Thanks.
Update: Well I installed TWRP to make a Nandroid backup so I could give the Kies upgrade to NK2 a try. (I thought it could save me some time reinstalling and customizing things.) Kies downloads the NK2 firmware, reboots the tablet into download mode, but then fails saying the device is unsupported. I'm assuming it's because of the TWRP recovery. I don't know if it's worth flashing back to the stock recovery and trying again and then reflashing TWRP to attempt to root it with the SuperSU zip (if necessary). Really this is all a little beyond my experience level...
NK2 worked fine for me people (Just so you guys don't have to wait an hour to download firmware from Sammobiles free website)

I odin the latest twrp. Boot to recovery. Reboot to system within twrp. Prior to it rebooting, It will ask if you want to root it. I think the default is yes. So just acknowledge it and it roots it, boots to system and Super SU will be installed. Click on Super SU and update it and you should be good to go.
Technically, this method should work with any device that has an unlockable bootloader. I usually use this method for all my devices.

What version of TWRP are you using to root? I can't get CF-Auto-Root-lt03wifi-lt03wifixx-smp600 or autorootp600mj4.tar.md5 to root. It goes through the process but I have no super user. I was able to get into TWRP 2.7.1.0 but it failed to flash a rom because I think there is some issue with my root. When I tried to reboot to system via TWRP it didn't ask to root. I also tried TWRP 2.8.7.0 and it just freeze upon entering TWRP. Please help. I'm on Kitkat 4.4.2

SOMETIMES we get TWRP problems and it happens the easiest way to install it to go to Google Play download an app called Flashify you can install TWRP using that app

[Root SM-A320F /FL/Y] Samsung Galaxy A3 2017 - The most advanced 4.7 inch Samsung yet

This device is more reasonable to buy as it is small and elegant at a decent price.
It is IP68 water-friendly device and the display is much better - higher FPS than on higher resolution OLEDs - good for action games.
Root using CF-autoroot
Download the file from CF-auto-root repository:

Unzip the file
Run Odin from the unzipped folder
Browse by clicking AP button the *.md5 file from the unzipped folder
Connect the A320F in download mode (start the device by holding Power+Home+Volume DOWN)
After starting the device in download mode, press Volume UP one to allow the download
A new COM port should be recognized by Odin after the device is connected via USB
Press Start button in in Odin
Rooting will take place automatically and the device will restart twice.
After the first restart you can disconnect the cable from the PC.
Second restart might take a few minutes.
After that you will find the SuperSU app installed.
Other, more complicated methods:
Rooting using custom recovery:
You will need:
SM-A320F with Exynos CPU (waiting for updates on other model)
Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 on your device
Odin v3.0.4 (download link below)
Team Win Recovery Project - TWRP (download link here) or ClockWork Mod Custom Recovery - CWM (download link below)
(Recommended custom recovery: Team Win Recovery Project :good: - more features, newer, works better)
SuperSU-v2.79-201612051815 (latest ZIP version available today - download link below)
SM-A320F TWRP & CWM recovery installation procedure:
On your device enable developer options and then disable OEM lock (FRP lock) for the device to allow you to flash custom recovery
(Activate OEM unlock from developer options menu)
Boot your device in Odin downlaod mode (hold VolDOWN + Home + Power)
Flash the *.tar file of TWRP or for the CWM using Odin's PDA option
(Uncheck Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time)
Force reboot your device (hold VolDOWN + Power for 10 seconds)
SM-A320F SuperSU ZIP installation procedure:
Copy SuperSU-v2.79-201612051815.zip on a microSD card (trough USB data cable or any other method)
Unplug the USB data cable from the phone and shut down the device
Start your device in Recovery mode (Hold VolUP + Home + Power)
(RECOVERY IS NOT SEANDROID ENFORCED - this warning is normal when booting into CWM custom recovery but not with TWRP)
The recovery menu will appear
> Using TWRP Recovery:
Swipe to allow modifications
Tap on Install
Tap on Select Storage at the bottom and select MicroSDCard then tap OK
Browse for the SuperSU-v2.79-201612051815.zip and tap on it to install it
Swipe to install SuperSU (confirm Flash)
> Using CWM Recovery:
Select Install zip update package (use VolDOWN/VolUP to navigate and Power to select)
Select Choose zip from sdcard
Select SuperSU-v2.79-201612051815.zip and press Power to install Super SU
The installation will perform automatically and the device will reboot twice.
First reboot will take longer. Please be patient. After the second reboot you will have SuperSU and root.
Downsides/bugs:
Knox will be tripped the second you flash a custom recovery (Warranty void: 1 - non reversibile)
(That means that you will lose the warranty for your device and that can not be changed)
(Perhaps that's why I personally can't invest more than $300 in a Samsung cellphone ever)
You won't be able to use Knox-related functions including Secure Folder ever again
Because of a SuperSU bug you won't be able to use Smart View (Miracast, project the screen to smart TV) unless you make an edit as follows:
Lewdog45 said:
Use a file browser such as Root Browser and go to the root of your device then locate the "System" folder and find build.prop and edit it with any application that can edit it and find the bottom line, right at the edge of the bottom line you need to press enter twice and then paste this:
wlan.wfd.hdcp=disable
And then save it and reboot your device.

Do you think that it will be possible to install TWRP instead of CWM in recovery?

Yes. You can flash twrp in cwm and reboot to recovery. Twrp will be there instead.
wich version to choose?
Sorry. There's no twrp for a320 yet, but in general it's working fine to flash new recovery with existing one.
Hey guys, I will receive my a3 2017 soon and I was wondering if it would be preferable to root it now than waiting for the update to Nougat and re-root it then... Any idea when the update will be available for this phone? I was also wondering if I should use a specific brand or type of micro sd card with this phone?
Thanks

Magisk just tweeted that the "world's first true system-as-root" was just created. Do you think that with this we could achieve root for Pie? Or would this not change anything?

Would I have to flash every time i want to enter safestrap?
also if I were to want to revert to the rooted nougat ROM, do I have to follow all the steps on the rooting guide or could I just flash an image through safestrap?

you can just flash image in safestrap and then flash the safestrap for nougat zip in post 2 (or its included in the new DSF6 build) after you flash the nougat system image in safestrap to get back to nougat safestrap. If you fail to flash the safestrap zip for nougat your phone will automatically boot to safestrap on every reboot on a nougat rom.

Thanks for answering my question. I'm new to all of this, so I appreciate the guidance.
Another question. Would I brick my phone if I tried to flash a ROM image with a v3 bootloader through safestrap?

You can flash a system image from v3 firmware but must remain on v5 boot and recovery images and bootloaders and modems

Nice this ROM just goes over the Nougat image with all my settings and apps intact. Even the pay apps are working (probably because no root). Now I just need to find a way to flash Viperaudio drivers then I'm all set.

I've tried to flash a few different viper zips in safestrap to no avail. The driver would not load. I was told that root is needed to actually "load" the drivers, even if you install them via safestrap. I'm not sure this is true though because if it was, the viper app would ask for root privs, wouldn't it? Anyways, if you make any progress let me know I need that viper in my life.

You should be able to change the permissions for the files themselves with safestrap you can change file permissions if it allows us read write to system then you could try making an init script to load in on boot with rooted permissions to load the viperaudio like an init.d
Vipermod start service this is just off of the top of my head but I will look into more this weekend when I got some time to test out the new rom and safestrap
Viper will not work without root because it needs to execute a script at startup and no scripts will execute on a stock system. There were or maybe are rootless version but they still needed a permissive kernel to work

[TWRP][Magisk][Snapdragon SM-G9730]How to get Stock ROM with TWRP and Root

Hi Everyone,
With all of the hype around the Exynos phone its finally time for the TGY/CHC Snapdragon variants to get some attention.
No this won't work with US variants, please don't ask. This is tested on my normal s10 (SM-G9730). I'm not sure if the s10+ would work.
I've worked with a few key people to get this working. So credit goes to Flatty, Ianmacd and the creators of tomatolei rom.
This setup will let the user do the following:
-Boot/Restart phone without holding any odd button combos to boot into rooted rom.
-Hold the recovery buttons to get into TWRP.
-Not having to worry about losing root when restarting if you forget to hold your buttons, you don't need to hold anything once properly setup.
The following steps below will help you achieve a stock rom with TWRP:
1. You must be on stock rom, ideally non rooted. If you are rooted, flash your stock rom (The rom version is important, this was completed using the ASH2 version of the TGY firmware.) using ODIN (CSC HOME).
2. Once flashed boot into android and ensure OEM unlocking is enabled in developer settings.
3. Boot to download mode by turning the phone off, then press and hold the volume down button along with the Bixby key just beneath it, then press and hold the power button.
4. Flash attached TWRP from download mode. (This led my phone to boot looping). https://www.mediafire.com/file/cg8bcrf78v66v8j/LatestTomato.tar/file
5. Flash the second attached TWRP (you may have to restart and re-enter download mode again). (I believe the above flash is required too, as it likely contains vendor info). https://www.mediafire.com/file/21akg54uxqk3eix/G9730_TWRP_3.3.1-1_tomatolei-0831-v4.0.tar/file
6. Reboot phone to recovery mode (Volume up, bixby and power upon restart) which will now boot you to TWRP.
7. Flash Snapdragon muti disabler from TWRP. https://www.mediafire.com/file/opbsc7wrcr69b2v/multidisabler-samsung-1.6.zip/file *Per @FlatOutRU After flashing multidisabler you must Wipe Data (if you didn't do that before with twrp - Thanks for the clarification.
8. Boot to your rom and ensure all is well.
9. Feel free to download the latest Magisk zip and flash root from TWRP by using the recovery mode button sequence upon restart.
Sidenote: The G9730_TWRP_3.3.1-1_tomatolei-0831-v4.0.tar and tomatolei ROM also let me install PHH AOSP and PHH LineageOS
PHH AOSP microG: https://forum.xda-developers.com/pr...arm64aosp-9-0-0r21-microg-ufofficial-t3878115
PHH LineageOS: https://forum.xda-developers.com/pr...i-lineageos-16-0-gsi-arm64-ab-how-to-t3908029
Hopefully this gets a few nice Stock ROMs being produced.
Download links are added.

Thanks for the compliment @pixiebob
1) I believe the latestomato.tar has some pieces of tomato rom that allow for booting.
2) Yes, i didnt use magisk_patched.tar. I used the official magisk zip after all of my original steps as the last step.
3) I have several backups, I'm on TGY. Try start from scratch and follow my above steps using a TGY rom. Sounds like you may need to wipe and start over using the original steps provided, make sure to use the multidisabler originally attached.

Great to hear it's working out.
Once we root and install twrp, how we can update the phone ?
Otherwise, thanks for your work !
Yay dude thanks for using my instruction and my modified zips without asking me first
You've got an attempt before - trying to post my 9730 overlay for AOSP

No, you didn't work with other people. You just spammed me ,my pm here and in telegram to get explanation and posted it here without permission
You've also forgot one important step. After flashing multidisabler you must Wipe Data (if didn't do that before with twrp)
Multidisabler - i've just changed a few lines in @ianmacd code to get it working on our Snapdragon variant.
Twrp.tar - extracted boot.img and recovery.img from @tomatolei ROM for S10+ 9750
Thanks again @FlatOutRU I've updated the initial description to include the wipe after the muti-disabler flash as per your comments.
Hopefully this allows more work to be done on the Snap s10s!

When you say flash (with only stock recovery installed) do you mean with Odin? Which boxes in odin would this tar files go to (e.g. AP, boot?). My phone is s10+ 9750. has it been tested on that? thanks a lot.
Any chance for 9700 (s10E) support?

I see no one's responded to you in the last few days, probably because the OP says to not bother asking if it works with US variants. No there's no known way to get root on one of the 97_U variants. The bootloader is locked, and it would take a miracle to bypass that.
Cannot use Dex for PC function.
Could you upload tomatolei's twrp v6, which updated the kernel to support the Dex funtion? Many thanks!
