EDIT: Apparently this forum does something to compress embedded images and when I saw what it did to mine I wasn't happy with it. Attached the PNG below, hopefully it won't get recompressed again.
I wanted to do something with KLWP, but it's rather complicated for what I want to do...

Baby Blue Muttinz
Have had this phone for a while. I have a thing for HTC, have since their begining. The first "flagship" phone i ever had was an HTC PPC Mogul - Sprint. Still have it and many other HTC to this very day. I custom made this puppy. I call him Muttinz. I started out with 1 sprint model and 1 cricked model as parts phones and built Muttinz out of both. Wont see another like this around. I am running the stock cooked Sprint/Boost MMDB Rom from the Dev Section and soon swapping in a different kernel if I can get it working right with the manual carrier unlock i did putting it on UMTS OR Sprint. Yep no need to go back I am able to use both sprint and gsm carrier (not both at the same time!). I created my own theme and im using Sense UI 7.0. TWRP 3.3.0 and SuperSU soon to be swapped out with Magisk. Pretty much done with it after i do that. Then Muttinz will retire to the phoneyard with the other badasses, oldschoolers, and youngpuks lol... Using this phone until i get my s8+ i also custom built finished up as it will be my daily driver #3.
Here he be!

HTC Desire 510 0PVC1 a11chl - Virgin Mobile
Another of my collection soon to go out to a client. Got for free with mint condition with a broke digitizer.. $7, 6 hours total of tinkering and result.... -> Later model HTC Desire 510, Blue, Virgin Mobile, CDMA Unlocked, TWRP, ROOT, SuperSU, Rhinstone Kernel, WIFI Fix, RaptorRom, S-ON, HBOOT (thinking of adding custom HBOOT), Themed by me, few custom apps for kernel tuning etc.. and thats about it..
https://imgur.com/4dEZgWd - TWRP Recovery Video
https://imgur.com/BMC1p9T - Video of Boot Animation / Launcher Home etc..
Too bad GSM wasn't possible with this Desire model. I unlocked every way I could and no signal.. Only thing left to do would be flash Crickets modem after tinkering with it.. Anyone did this?

HTC Desire 510 HTC0PCV1 0PCV100. Custom cooked ROM on 4.4.2, TWRP, Rooted with SuperSU, themed, new back and bigger mAh battery. Sprint and soon to be unlocked when I get time.

I'm 99.9% sure it can't be done. Even on other HTC models it's already very hard to port over, much less a different brand of phone.

In the immortal words of dumd and dumber
" so your saying theres a chance"
what about just porting the touchwiz and the parts it needs at first then the rest of the os
I think due to the Galaxy S being an hdpi device it would be a near impossible job of porting it to our mdpi Hero. I think the nearest you'll get is a theme. I currently have a near complete framework port of all the images, scaled and re-9.png'd it looks cool but it's still not the ROM is it.
I wish I could do this for all Hero users too. I saw my coworker has bought a samsung galaxy. This device is really fantastic. Also its customized andriod system is very impressive. For instance the overview of desktops. Not like HTC, all desktops are reduced to a almost unreadable size but are aligned in one line. The menu font can be changed. The contact list looks more like iphone style. For me, the buttons in HTC sence look too bigger. This will also minus some points.
I bought my HTC hero last october. But the device has been slighly dropped to ground twice but looks optically very terrible now. And the microphone in headset does not work properly. Generally speaking the HTC qulity is not quite confident to me. Plus the attractive samsung software, I am now heavily considering to switch to samsung. (Smartphone is a great thing. I cannot help to wasting more money on it)

Well the themed framework should run on any 2.2 Froyo ROM. But to achieve the look you need to be able to change the Clock, Date, Notification text colour etc... like in CM6 or Fusion.

Maybe best to try on non-Sense/Vanilla ROM.

I have tried it and it does run, but there are some alignment and graphical issues. This would be due to the resolution it was meant for, Nexus and the like. This guy over here - http://forum.samdroid.net/f42/touchwiz3-launcher-spica-mdpi-screen-1615/ seems to have scaled a version down to fit mdpi devices. Not sure if it works but gonna give it a go. If so, the next cool thing would be to see if we can get some of the widgets to work with it.. ? :S

[Help] Looking to port a rom to CDMA Evo 3D, STUCK!! :(

Hi. I'd like to start by saying that first off this is my first time messing about with this kind of thing, and what i know is from various threads on porting different roms to different devices. i dumped the rom from the Meizu M9 (GSM) 2.0.5 firmware, https://www.dropbox.com/s/oiyajvv8x37em8e/meizu m9 rom dump.zip and tried porting it to the CDMA Evo 3D. All my attempts have either led me to getting stuck at the HTC splash screen, or boot looping at a black screen after the splash screen. I've pulled multiple logcats, with each of the outcomes they say different things but when i try to troubleshoot i get nowhere. So, what i'd like to know is if a dev could take a look at the rom dump, see if it is even possible to port this or if they would even be willing to take on porting it . If nobody wants to try to port it, i'd really appreciate pointers or tips on getting it to boot/run if its even possible
Edit: if it makes any difference, an earlier version of this rom (android 2.2) was ported to the Evo 4g last year. So -- it should be possible to get it running on the evo3d right?
Did you set the mount blocks right?
block 23 is for system
block 24 is for data
could also just be that it doesn't work. When porting from one device to another, 90% of the stuff won't work.

Hehe miui is nice but there's something about the meizu skin thats just 'wow'

I want my cake and eat it too!

I recently got my hands on a shiny new HTC One and I really do love it. Loving out even more now that it's rooted and I removed all that crap AT&T put on it. (tards)
Anyway, I had some questions for the community. I'm coming from the Galaxy Nexus and I had CM installed so I'm used to a lot of things like battery % in the status bar and the daydream app.
Thing is, I kinda like the new sense (minus the launch and blinkfeed) and I'm really wanting to stay on stock if it's possible. I know that whenever the new update arrives I'll have the coveted % but what about daydream?
If anyone gots some info on that I'd really aprreciate it.
Oh and I also really miss the battery/power menu on vanilla android. Does anyone know if there is an app or a mod that I can use to get the same experience?
Thanks

I think many of us AT&T One owners here on XDA are running 4.2.2 ROMs from the International HTC One section due to their perfect compatibility (no need to change CID, go S-OFF or flash firmwares to run ROMs from that section, and all AT&T-specific issues from the 4.1.2 days are resolved) since the AT&T section is a ghost town in comparison. That is how you have your cake and eat it too, as your title says.
To answer your first question, the stock based HTC One 4.2.2 ROMs do have built-in daydream and stock battery %, so the AT&T update to 4.2.2 (if and when it ever comes) should have these features also.
I know you said you wanted to stay on stock if possible, but keep in mind that AT&T is holding back this phone's potential. Since you're already used to 4.2.2, and we can all wait on AT&T until the cows come home, you may want to consider just biting the bullet and flashing a stock rooted HTC Sense 4.2.2 ROM. There's one here in the AT&T dev section that is an excellent option if you're wanting to stay stock, based on the latest build from HTC. The stock AT&T radio works fine with it BTW.
In the new 4.2.2 ROMs, HTC has gotten rid of the black menu bar in apps by officially providing the option of mapping a long-pressing of the home button to the menu function. If you end up finding out that long pressing the home button intermittently acts like a single press, upgrading to the matching 4.2.2 firmware helps significantly with improving the sensitivity of the capacitive touch buttons, but that's getting a bit ahead of ourselves...just wanted to mention it. However the new firmware won't work with the stock 4.1.2 AT&T ROM.
Thanks for the info and the link.

Nevermind, I got it. Although, now I'm kinda scared to flash it cuz since I rooted there's been some screwy things going on. I was using Titanium Backup to delete some att apps and some of them keep coming back like Facebook and Twitter. When I go to superuser it says that it needs to update binary and then it tries but then it says it can't and that it's a problem. I can manually go into TWRP and flash stuff as I did with a script that supposedly wiped the crapware from att but I'm still not sure about flashing something custom.
any ideas or should I just go for it.
Also, I'm guessing that since it didn't give a limk for Gapps then I don't need them right?

Stock kernel has write protection for the /system folder. You'll need to flash a custom ROM that has the write protection removed. Much easier to flash a custom ROM than to mess with the **** AT&T has done to it.

Yes that is the International section.
If you want to stay on the stock rooted ROM, you can just disable those apps instead of deleting them, using the method built into Android (Settings>>Apps>>find your app and disable it), or alternatively you can freeze them in Titanium. This doesn't require write access to the system partition. These disabled apps will still occupy a small amount of file space but they won't be running anymore and using up RAM, and their respective icons will be gone.
You can flash a custom ROM from either the AT&T section or the International section. The International section has a much better selection and the threads are much more active. There are rooted stock ROMs (Sense and Google Edition) and custom ROMs (Sense, Google Edition and AOSP). AOSP ROMs on the One are pretty good now but there are a few issues with them, and you lose features like Beats and Zoe if you care about those things.
you can still get the HTC Sense camera for GPE. Works for me, with the exception that I can't click to my gallery from the camera itself (but the pictures do save there).

Me too, but I used Zoe's before, and they dont work with the GPE framework...too many files missing. You can search through the forums to try various things based on the GE rom you've flashed though. I ended up going to ARHD, which has all the features OP asked for anyway.

Sense 5 on AT&T One X+

I am fairly inexperienced with custom ROMs. My phone is fully rooted. Is it possible to install something very similar to Sense 5 on the AT&T HTC One X+? Is it likely someone is working on implementing the features from the international release on the AT&T version? I love Sense but I can't stand the ring-based stuff in Sense 4, which is my most important concern (i've disabled the lock screen altogether but who wants to drag a ring to snooze their alarm, etc.?). I've tried to figure this out on my own but the information in the custom rom pages is over my head.
Thanks for any help :good:.
There is a sense 5 theme by ghost that is exactly what you're looking for.
Sent from my HTC One X+ using Tapatalk 4
Just FYI, you can snooze the alarm by pressing the power button (maybe even the volume ones). The day I figured this this out, it took me like an hour to get out of bed..lol.
Yeah, I guess it's time to get rid of the One X+ AT&T phone since there have been no updates, no Sense 5 for us at all.
Sucks...but that is the game I guess...Time to relock/RUU and sell on eBay....haha
I just swapped phones with my wife. She has the Samsung Galaxy S3. I just want a phone that I can constantly flash new custom ROMs.. I like experimenting with all the different User Experiences they all have to offer, and unfortunately the AT&T HTC One X+ just doesn't have anything custom out for it. Sure a couple of developers have their hands at attempting to make it worth while. But it's just too closed of a system to unlock and enjoy this phone to it's Full Potential.

If your phone is fully rooted, why not install a custom rom? I'm a noob at this but I installed viperxl 4.0. It is fully tweakable and sense 5. It makes the phone similar to the HTC one.

Is it only the international One that's getting the 5.5 update right now?
Or is the AT&T variant included in the current rollouts? Cause I haven't received it yet.

The current rollout is only for the INTL version. I wouldn't be surprised if ATT doesn't give you Sense 5.5, since they just updated to 4.3 with Sense 5 not terribly long ago. I'd guess IF they update to Sense 5.5, it won't be until after the MAX has been out for a little while. They have to have some incentive to get people to buy it...

I wouldn't root just for 5.5 unless there's something really specific you're wanting. BUT, I say root that sucker since you've had one before and you're used to it. It will open up a whole new world of One possibilities. And while s off is available I would definitely take advantage of it if you ever think you might want to root or tinker with roms and kernels.
I realize rooting and unlocking/s-off isn't for everyone, but if you're inclined to open up the doors to custom software, the development on this phone is UNBELIEVABLE, if you're watching the dev forums in this section I know it's not a lot of activity, but that's because once unlocked all the development in the regular HTC One section can be used.
As a sidenote: My phone and ATT network like the new firmware that was rolled out to the international version. I'm getting service inside the building where it was a dead zone before, although it's not a very strong signal, and my LTE speeds went up a lot, both upload and download. Just in case you do root it and you're wondering about that.

I thought the same about rooting but since I've always rooted my past android devices, I did. I have such a better experience rooted (using TB, Greenify + framework modules).
What makes me think to update sense 5 to 5.5, is if I have to delete everything like last time (RUU method) I might skip sense update.
