Z3 dual 6633 cyangenmode - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Salute the great minds.
I am new to this development world. I want to install cyanogenmode in my xperia z3 6633.
For the as per the directions from the sites, first I downgraded to 4.4 and then done root using super su. Then I installed Twrp xzdual recovery and it worked nicely. Then I tried to unlock the bootloader using sony site instructions. It was unlocked and at the same time before root , I tried to flash cm 12.1 through teamwin recovery and landed in big trouble phone become dead fully. Anyhow I made it repaired with outside professional support . Then flashed it with marshmallow again. I did'nt give up and installed the xz recovery again and restore my backup image. So, now I have z3 dual 6633 rooted (super su ) and teamwin recovery installed. But the boot loader is in locked condition again. This is the current status.
I WANT TO INSTALL CyanogenMod IN MY Z3. PLEASE HELP ME WITH STEP BY STEP PROCEDURE OR THREAD . ALSO DOWNLOAD LINKS NEEDED, BECAUSE MOST OF THE LINKS IN THREADS ARE EXPIRED ESPECIALLY FOR CyanogenMod.
SOMEBODY PLS HELP ME , NOW 4.4 IS RUNNING IN MY Z3, CyanogenMod 13 CAN BE FLASHED.....? OR GIVE A PROPER INSTRUCTION TO BECOME PART OF THIS DEVELOPERS WORLD.

if you have android 4.1.2 - use Framaroot.apk, install it in your z5
if you have android 4.2.2 - use chinesse Vroot. install it in your computer and follow instruction.
all methods are working. I`m used both methods on different ROM`s

Root (check) Recovery & ROM (no check)
Greets to all,
I just got this device myself & rooted it yesterday with the Framaroot.apk & Gandalf exploit. It's a very nice phone & takes great photos! (Btw, I sold my Xperia Z Ultra & used the money to buy this phone; the Z Ultra was simply too big, had no flash & screen mirroring was completely unstable). Unfortunately, almost everything out there about this phone is in Chinese; even the recoveries are in Chinese. I found a few pages about a Kitkat 4.4 ROM for this device, but the download is in 3 parts and online surveys must be completed to activate the downloads One of the pages can be found if you search for "Upgrade/Update ZTE Nubia Z5 to 4.4 KitKat" but I think it's likely bogus.
If anyone can find an English recovery or decent ROM for this device, please post & thanks in advance!
Edit: It seems there are ROMS and CWM recovery on the MIUI website (search "ZTE" and separately "recovery" on the English [en] site). I'm downloading a version 5 ROM but may not have time to check it out today.
Thanks bro

Thanks bro, i will try that one too... if you already test it please tell us how about the rom..!!!
You use which? ZTE Z5 MINI? or how do you know what model to download the rom???
waiting on a recovery
Hi cesarguaro,
Unfortunately, the recoveries mentioned on the site are not for Qualcom based devices like our NX501s; therefore, I haven't tried the ROM I found for the Nubia Z5 yet. It's too bad the stock recovery can't be used for backing up the ROM even though it can likely be used to install the ROM (which is too risky without a backup IMO). Have you installed a non-Chinese, usable recovery yet?
As for Miui, if you go to en dot miui dot com, you'll see the downloads link right at the top. Under "Brands" click on the ZTE logo and you're on your way

[REQUEST] custom ROM for Hisense hs-u980 ? (helpfull links included)

EDIT: For those of you who want the ROM, I've uploaded it in the thread on this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/rom-hisense-hs-u980-t3147968
hi every one
I recently got an android, it seems to be a china-android
its called Hisense, hs-u980
the detailed specs are in these links:
---------------
http://www.hisense.es/es/electronica/moviles/item/124-u980.html
http://www.dspecs.com/sp/735/Hisense-U980-Features-and-Specifications.html
---------------
the OS is old and boring 4.2.1 , I searched for a custom ROM but no luck
BUT I found THIS site, and it seems to have ROMs for it:
-----------
http://tieba.baidu.com/f?kw=海信u980&mo_device=1&pn=0&
http://tieba.baidu.com/p/3039480252?lp=5028&mo_device=1&pn=0&
http://tieba.baidu.com/p/3079914712?pn=0&
-------
but its Chinese so I don't understand a thing, even with Google translate, because I have little - but hopefully enough- experience with custom roming and rooting, and the translator messes with the words
so pleeeeease anyone help me
: D
after getting used to it and studying some roms and development stuff
i found that its not that boring afterall
actually it looks like its based on kitkat theme
but could there be Roms for it
or at least roms that work on it but for a similar device
cuz actually i think its based on some other official android phone but i dont know which one
any help would be appreciated, THX

Got mine last week. It's actually pretty nice for Android 4.2.1, hoping Hisense will upgrade to 4.4

Sorta at times yes. I installed camera JB+. Pictures are a bit better, but I mainly got it for the option to record video with flash. Camera360pro now that will always give you crisp pictures, even on my Huawei Y300, I was amazed.

Hi!!
Thanks for all the info but Im having some hard time finding the drivers to detect the phone on my PC.
The thing is that I read that to make a backup, I need first to use "MTK Droid Root & Tools" which would also allow me to root my phone. But that software doesn't detects my phone at all.
I connected my phone as CD drive, then it shows the drivers for it, installed but nothing changes. Device manager detects my phone.
Could you please help me a little on this? I would like to backup the whole ROM and phone before doing any risky changes and also want to backup the IMEI just in case.
Thanks in advance!
Well
Do like i did
Install FRAMAROOT from here
forum.xda-developers.com/apps/framaroot/root-framaroot-one-click-apk-to-root-t2130276
And try an exploit and it will work
As for the Recovery Mode
I think The link in a previous reply - mobile uncle - will only install a Chineese recovery mode
Would that work for doing backups? I am really more interested in being able to backup my phone than anything else.
Also, my main objetive is to repartition the phone since it comes with 2GB for apps and 6GB as storage. I would like to use that other memory to be able to install more apps since I have SD card and these 6GB are there laughing of not being used at all lol. It's verya nnoying to have so much memory and not being able to use :/

I installed this ROM on my phone, it somehow got me unrooted with no twrp. And I don't like it because it kicks me out of all the applications (making it unusable)
hello, is this ROM working ok?
what ROM would you recommend for E2303?

DISCLAIMER:
I am not responsible to anything going wrong with your device.
You are responsible to what you are doing with your phone, not me.
If you blame me, I will laugh in your face and I'll go grab a beer.
This guide is intended to be used for people who want to upgrade their Android experience. This process could be dangerous. Please follow instructions, and if in doubt, stop, and ask here. No one wants their phone bricked*.
"For quite a while you are using your LG G2 mini. You like the simplicity of Android 4.4/5.0.2 and you think LG did a good job on the UI. You live you life happily with the phone. But after a while you feel something is missing. you want more.
You googled "How to make my device awesome again" and you saw difficult terms, such as root, flashing, recovery and bootloader. You didn't know what they meant, but you knew you have to understand these terms and apply them to make your phone awesome again."
The steps to make your phone awesome again are fairly simple:
perform these steps in order from top to bottom. Do not skip any.
--Rooting--
"Yes... I remember seeing this term.. I vaguely remember something related to permissions.. but I am not totally sure what this means."
Root - The root directory of your phone. The home directory for all your important system files.
Rooting - Normally, you don't have access to this directory, since the manufacturer doesn't want you to mess with it. Rooting means you will give yourself access to this directory. Why do you want access to this directory? Because later on we will need access to it to change some files.
Most common question asked is: will this void my warranty? YES
How to Gain Root Access
Android 4.4
There are a few methods to try. If one fails, you will continue until you succeed.
Method 1
1. Go to this link
2. Click on the big lambda in the middle of the page ( ? )
3. Install the app on your phone
4. Run the app and tap on "make it rain"
5. Your phone will reboot
6. Download SuperSU from here. This app is a root access management tool, and it allows you to give certain apps root permissions.
7. The app might ask you to "update binaries". If so, let it update.
Optional: Install this app to make sure you have root access.
Method 2
Go to this link and follow the instructions.
Android 5.0.1
There is only one method for rooting on this version.
Method 1
1. Go to this link and follow the instructions
--Unlock Bootloader--
"Bootloader.... is that a machine that loads boots?"
Bootloader - Code that is executed before any Operating System starts to run. A bootloader is usually locked on an Android device because although it’s an open source OS, still the manufacturers want you to stick to their Android OS version specifically designed for the device. In order to apply this concept, manufacturers lock the bootloader. With a locked bootloader on Android devices, it is virtually impossible to flash a Custom ROM.
Most common question asked is: why do I need to unlock my bootloader? Unlocking the bootloader allows you to install custom Firmware on your Android phone.
How to Unlock the Bootloader
It is advised to be on Android 5.0.2 to unlock bootloader.
Android 4.4
There Is only one specific guide for the d620 / d620r models.
Method 1
1. Go to this link and follow instructions.
Android 5.0.2
There is a guide for all varients.
Method 1
1. Go to this link and follow the instructions
--Custom recovery--
"After reading so much I think I need to be recovered myself!"
Recovery - Software that can be used to restore the device to factory default settings, update its operating system, and perform other diagnostic tasks. A custom recovery is a third-party recovery environment. Flashing this recovery environment onto your device replaces the default, stock recovery environment with a third-party, customized recovery environment. A custom recovery environment will do the same things as the stock Android recovery. However, it will also have additional features. Custom recoveries often have the ability to create and restore device backups.
TWRP - Team Work Recovery Project is the most common custom recovery out there. It is highly advised to use it, since other recoveries made for this device are old and unstable.
Most common question asked is: why would I want to use a custom recovery? Custom recoveries allow you to install custom software such as ROMs and kernels.
How to Flash a Custom Recovery
1. If you already have a custom recovery, enter it and flash the new recovery zip.
2. If not, download and install THIS app and flash though it the recovery zip. Then you'll be able to enter the custom recovery.
All Android Versions
There are several versions of TWRP. It is recommended to use the latest version, though using an older version won't hurt.
1. Go to HERE for Twrp 3.0.2.0
2. Go to HERE for TWRP 2.8.7.0
--Custom Rom--
"That was it? It was so easy!"
Rom - stands for “read-only memory.” A custom ROM replaces your device’s Android operating system — normally stored in read-only memory — with a new version of the Android operating system. Custom roms usually have added features not available in stock Android.
Most common question asked is: why would I want to use a custom ROM? Read THIS article.
I'm sorry for any left out roms. A lot are old and not updated or contain bugs. An updated list of them can be found at all time in the "Android Development" section.
How to Flash a Custom Rom
1. Download a custom rom to your sd-card.
2. Enter twrp recovery.
3. Make a backup of system, data, boot and cache.
4. Flash the custom rom.
5. Optional: flash Gapps.
6. Reboot to system.

--Custom Kernel--
"I'm going deeper... so deep, I'm almost at the kernel!"
Kernel - The kernel is the piece of software that bridges the gap between the operating system (and installed apps) and the hardware in the device. Everything you do on your device involves the kernel. Increasing the volume while playing a video? Android doesn’t directly tell the speakers to increase output. Instead, it tells the kernel that it wants to increase the volume, and the kernel talks to the speaker to increase its output.
Most common question asked is: why would I want to use a custom KERNEL? Read THIS article.
How to Flash a Custom Kernel
1. Download a custom kernel to your sd-card.
2. Enter twrp recovery.
3. Make a backup of BOOT
4. Flash the custom kernel
5. Reboot to system.

Great instruction! I won't be surprised, if I need this guide some day!
I would like to ask anyone for suggestions on what to add to this post, so please, tell me!

The steps in making your phone awesome again are fairly simple:
perform these steps in order from top to bottom.
YES
Steps to Gaining Root Access
Android 4.4
There are a few methods to try. If one fails, you will continue until you succeed.
Method 1
1. Go to this link
2. Click on the big lambda in the middle of the page ( λ )
3. Install the app on your phone
4. Run the app and tap on "make it rain"
5. Your phone will reboot
6. Download SuperSU from here. This app is a root access management tool, and it allows you to give certain apps root permissions.
7. The app might ask you to "update binaries". If so, let it update.
Optional: Install this app to make sure you have root permission.
Method 2
Go to this link and follow the instructions.
Android 5.0.1
Unfortunately there is only one method for rooting.
Method 1
Steps to Unlocking Bootloader
It is advised to be on Android 5.0.2 to unlock bootloader.

Custom recoveries allow you to install custom ROMs.
Steps to Flashing a Custom Recovery
All Android Versions
There are several versions of TWRP. It is recommended to use the latest version, though using an older version won't hurt.
1. Go to HERE for Twrp 3.0.0.0 and follow instructions.
2. Go to HERE for TWRP 2.8.7.0 and follow instructions.
--Custom Rom--
"That was it? It was so easy!"
Rom - stands for “read-only memory.” A custom ROM replaces your device’s Android operating system — normally stored in read-only memory — with a new version of the Android operating system. Custom roms usually have added features now available in stock Android.
Most common question asked is: why would I want to use a custom ROM? Read THIS article.
I'm sorry for any left out roms. A lot are old and not updated or contain bugs.

Please do not quote the whole post.
The LG G2 mini Tegra edition is very different from the other varients. It has a different board and uses other components. Unfortunately, to this day there is no way of unlocking it's bootloader, but even if it could be unlocked, there is no rom development for it. I don't know about rooting it, but from my knowledge, there wasn't ever a serious discussion about rooting it. The main reason is this phone is mostly seen in Latin America, while the rest of the world uses the "normal" version of the phone.

Hi,
I have a LG G2 Mini D620 which is still on KitKat 4.4.2. It never got an OTA update to Lollipop.
It has:
Baseband version: MPSS.DI.2.0.1.c8-00012-M8926DAAAANAZM-1
Build Number: KOT49I.A1404447153
Software version: V10g-EUR-XX
It is rooted.
What I would like to do is upgrade it to at least lollipop. Stock lollipop is fine (custom rom is not a must).
Can you point me in the right direction as to what would be the best way to achieve this?
Regards.
You can find the version you want http://lg-phone-firmware.com/mobile/ and flash it to your phone

In the ROM section, you can see there is a thread with a flashable zip of stock lollipop. Of course read the instruction from rooting to the end, and if you have any problem just post here..

Do I need to unlock the bootloader and install custom recovery in order to be able to install the stock lollipop using that flashable zip?

Yes indeed, that will also give you the ability to flash custom ROMs (if you wish to in the future).

I tried different recoveries with different softwares but I always got the same problem.
I solved downgrading to kitkat and following the 4.4 method. I guess something was not working in the rooting procedure..
Hi guys, I have an D620k which is on KitKat. I want to update to Lollipop trough KDZ.
Do I need to download the 620k version? Or I can flash anyone that is for 620?
Thanks!

Need help upgrading my Software Kindle Fire HDX 7 Inch with Cyanogenmod 11 Safestrap4

Hello dear Community,
i really hope you can help me along. First of all pardon my english... i have not used it for a decade so it is really "rusty"
I bought a Kindle Fire HDX 7 Inch (the Version with Front Facing Camera) second hand. It came with Cyanogenmod 11 and Safestrap on it installed by the previous owner.
Now i figured out that there are CM 12 and CM 13 Versions availuable for this device (thor should be its pseudonym)...
I don't want to brick my device and i have no idea where to really start....
First of all i always read about unlocked bootloaders... if i am correct my tablet at the moment does not have an unlocked bootloader just a sort of "bypass" so that the older Cyanogenmod 11 works? Is that correct?
If so how can i unlock it properly... i already tried the 1 Click unlock method posted in this forum using VirtualBox etc.... which failed with an error code and did not seem to work out well.
What else do i have to do in order to successfully install Cyanogenmod 13 nightlys? Is Safestrap as sort of a recovery based on an older TWRP Version (2.7x is suppose) a proper recovery for installing a rom? Or do i need to change the recovery? What about the rom slot management options in Safestrap i found!?
I hope somebody might help me out with this (i am not totally new to flashing roms) but i just want to be sure to make it in the right way and order... (cyanogenmod wiki is not speaking a word about unlocking the bootloader in terms of how to do it properly).
Lots of Questionmarks over my head.... *sigh*
I hope someone can help me sort this out.
Best regards

Quick responses (btw - your english is fine!):
- Safestrap is not a generic recovery and can not be used to flash roms other than those designated as "Safestrap Compatible"
- Unlocking the bootloader is the best (really only) path to newer ROMs including CM 12.1 and CM 13; links to relevant threads below
- If you opt to stick with Safestrap v4 do NOT create or use secondary slots; everything happens in the STOCK slot
Everything you need to know about unlocking the bootloader can be found in these two threads. Read the thread OP (important) and then focus on posts made during the past 30 days. Good luck!
