Question is authenticity. How come samsung make this blunder. Samsung don't have track which two IMEI is built on same device? If Primary IMEI is all need to enter then why this information not provided?

Agreed, seems like they are just throwing things out there to cover themselves legally, its hard to find tools like this from their sites so they seem to be just doing it for the sake of doing it. Seeing as they are recalling all of them anyway it makes no sense unless they were trying to put peoples minds at rest but could back fire if their imei checker is as faulty as some batteries.
Imagine the lawsuits that would come if someone checks there imei and it gives them the all clear, then there phone catches fire.
Currently they are on one big ass covering exercise and not doing a very good job of it either
Only annoying thing about this whole debacle is two hours before they announced a recall i had sold my note 5 lol (with your rom on it of course!!!)

Just a thought!
Total recall policy is doubtful. It will never been clear what exact they will provide with new devices. Just new battery ? If so then certain batch don't have issue will remain same ?
Better Samsung have recalled every device and refunded them it could be wise decision. Later after couple of month may come with N8. They may get little loss but surely emerge with clean image and that would be total profit.

Mine's affected, good thing i took mine back this morning.

those IMEI check tools will be official after replacement take place
so you find out from which batch your new N7 and be rest assured its safe

for now maybe all SDI show's as affected

Mine is affected. No surprise.

Just tried mine.Duos bought in dubai and none of the 2 imeis are affected. in your opinion is this good enough to decide to keep the phone?

This thread is not for you,if you already have a good one.
This is for who love this tablet and are trying hard to find a good one...
Most of us here, has went through 2 or 3 tablet and still has LIGHT BLEED,DEAD PIXEL and YELLOWISH COLOR etc....
Just went to my local Staples and bought 4 unit, not open yet ,already return 3 device to GOOGLE base on the same problem.
Hope the one from staple will be the GOOD ONE...
If the 4 tablet is not good, i am still going to pursue the hunt for a good one...

One guy has a thread up stating that when he sent it in to Samsung they managed to reduce the light bleed, but in his photos it is still visible at 0 percent brightness.

I feel lucky that I only have a dark shading near my camera and some weird buzzing coming from the back lol.... Tablet hasn't reset on me yet!
Waiting 3 to 5 business day for Samsung to call me back with the service request. I bought it at Walmart, and no other Walmart near me has had it in stock since I bought it. If they have it in stock before Samsung calls me back, I may try exchanging it there instead. But I'm going to demand Samsung checks the replacement screen and checks again!
You can also wait until the second batch comes out and return it to Google then.

Just called Google and their going to cross-ship a unit to me, at least that's how it sounded like. Needs a credit card and everything which is fine for me
I personally prefer this over anything else as I can inspect my replacement unit and it ensures I get a completely different unit.

Gs2 stolen....

Just got back from a heavy weekend at butlins in minehead..... Got my phone stolen. Luckily someone I know sorted me out wit a HTC desire HD. But stil is no where near as good as my s2.

Does anyone know what u can/can't do with an S2 that's had its imei number blocked?
I've blocked my stolen galaxy but not sure what u can still do on the phone ... Don't like the thought of someone goin thru all my pics/texts etc...

I guess it'll be blocked from accessing any network. That's all. The data on your phone will still be there unfortunately. Use this app called Cerberus with your next phone to prevent such situations. I've been using it since a year and it's brilliant. Allows you to locate your phone and a whole lot more including remotely wiping the phone and SD card and turning on data and WiFi. The lifetime license for 5 devices is a paltry amount too. I'm not advertising the app, it's just something that everybody would do well to have.
In any case, if you had a security lock on your phone then it won't be a problem. The thief or whoever he sells it to will probably just factory reset it. SD card data is another thing though, as it can be removed and opened with a card reader. If your pics were in the internal memory and you had a security lock then it shouldn't be a problem. Messages are stored in the /data partition anyway.
The Desire HD, which I own too, is a brilliant phone. But obviously not as good as S2, being of an older generation. The build quality beats any Samsung phone though. Mine has fallen down hundreds on times and taken many beatings, but other than a scratch here and there it's perfectly fine.

Did you mistake XDA for your blog?
If you hadn't have blocked it you could have downloaded plan b on it from the play store on your home computer.
Now they can do whatever they like on it except for text people, call people or use 3g etc.
Did you have a screen lock? if so then you may be alright for not having your pics nosed at/downloaded/passed on. If not then your out of luck.

First of all his post is relevant to XDA, since he had a S2 and is simply asking questions about the phone. Yes, he should have posted it on the Q and A part of the forum, but it is still relevant.
Not trying to be rude or anything but from most of your posts that I read, all I see is sarcasm. If you don't have anything good to say, don't say it.

Replacement note so much better

Here's an interesting thing. I am on my third note with the other two being replaced due to screen and USB plug issues respectively. I get my new note and it is remarkably better. The GPS works where it couldn't even lock before and the phone itself is sooo smooth. It this how it was supposed to work the whole time?

Sent my Note in a week before my warranty was up to have the screen fixed. Now the screen is much better than it ever was before. The screen was great before but it is noticeably sharper and brighter. My buttons are also super bright now. I think the screen has to be a hardware upgrade that could only be in a new Note or replacement screen.

Yes ....but with a one time, $36.00 upgrade charge.
I've been a customer with them for nearly 15 years, since the early days and I also hold a level one business account.
So results for others will likely not be the same.
I've got 11 contracted devices in service with ATT, for my employees.
Having device replacements coming is much easier under those conditions.
They also let me keep the new device, and the tech told me to sell it for parts or repair the button and sell a new working device.
I've got a new power button coming Monday, and a shop I use regularly that will fix it for me too sell.
All together I'm placing 5 devices and their cases, chargers and packaging up for sale this week as I'm getting ready for the move into the note 2 this Tuesday.
I'm planning to stay around the note 1 section for a while, as we have many new users needing help from those of us who have been around this device for a while.
And I've also got duties to perform with the super thread and our Korean note users needing a section built inside the super thread space.....g

What is the support process for getting a device fixed.

I bought an Omate TrueSmart from a backer that didn't want it anymore and looks like the SimCard slot is not working. I tried emailing [email protected] as well as reach out to a contact the original owner had but no response as of yet. Any help would be appreciated.

Well the simcard is not being recognized but I think it's hardware since it supposed to let you take the sim card out via the "spring" motion but it just grabs it without letting me eject it. Otherwise it's fine but really useless outside of the house since I can only do wifi to use it as Bluetooth is not usable to tether to the phone to use it.
How did you put the SIM inside? Notch towards the unit, with chip face up to the screen?

followed the directions online. there is a video of the process. there is just no spring action. in that type of sim insert configuration there should be a way for it to come out when pressing. some phones i have seen that on. i guess there is nobody here from Omate to assist. i have emailed and no response.

Oh ok. I didn't have a user manual included when i purchased it. I got the watch in the original cased box with the pillow and the card signed by the CEO as well as the extra battery and screws. I can provide whatever you need as far as proof but I asked the original owner and he advised me he never put a sim in it. I also notice on the lower left corner there is lite leaking from under the sapphire glass.
If I have no hope of achieving any support for the device since I am not the original "kickstarter" backer then I will just sell it since I paid more then the bought it for sure.
thanks again for your quick reply Kuronosan

In that video, the sim is never shown correctly inserted into the TrueSmart. If it springs back out any, it was not pushed in far enough to latch. When fully inserted and latched, no part of the sim chip is still visible outside the slot. To get it out, push it even further in with a tool or fingernail and it will pop out to the point where is shown in Kurt's video and then can be tweezed or scraped out.
Having the sim inserted partially like in the video might work for some TrueSmarts, but it did not for mine. Once I got past that on my watch, my T-Mobile sim started functioning immediately and continued to do so without any issues.

I am sorry yours does not work right. I had hoped I could help since I had been a little misled myself, initially,by the video you linked to.
I got no similar light leaking, though there was a report with a photo of someone else who did, on the Omate forum that is now down I think. There was some speculation that such a light leakage might indicate that individual watch was not likely even vaguely water-resistant.
My only issue on my 1/8/1900 DevEd Nov watch is that it runs at a maximum of 1gHz instead of 1.3gHz. I have resisted testing the water-resistance and have not opened the back yet. I would like it to run at full rated speed, but have not initiated a warranty claim yet because I feel like the Omate folks do not yet have the resources to respond. I suspect that a lot of the watches in the early Feb USA shipment are running at 1gHz max.

Well i followed the steps so i can take my sim card out otherwise I would not be able to use my regular phone. The matter is still the issue with the sim card not working and now the lite leakage. Why is there no response from the company that is manufacturing these devices.
If someone tells me listen you were not the original backer so we can't assist you I will forget about contacting them anymore and would just write this off as a loss. It's a shame as it's a really nice device and I spent over $250 for it so it sucks that I am at a loss.

They get hundreds of emails a day. With as small as their staff is, it's two maybe three people having to answer those emails, label and ship units as well as other duties.
As a point of comparison , when I worked as a warranty certified tech for Acer, it took 8-12hrs of sitting on hold just to get them to answer a phone call.
Question, does your SIM look like this when installed;
Orientation
Insertion
Installed

At what level it fails? Usually it is bootloader and modem.
Simply extract system.img and boot.img from old firmware, make tar and try to flash should work.
Or void warranty and flash custom rom

Been a fee guys here have tried it and it failed.
I agree with you its likely the bootloader but if you extract as mentioned i wonder if that will remove the 60% battery cap?
Your updated rom still has the battery cap if on an affected device if Im not mistaken. People want to remove that 60% battery cap so they can use their devices normally until replacements come

Of course my rom have it and intentionally I have keep it there as safety measures, Samsung have recommended.
Still users can extent it to 80% and which is I believe fine too. It's very easy to fake safe battery and possible to get ability to charge fully (I posted in other thread) on even latest base but this will mislead by enabling green battery so not to implement for safety purpose.

In some countries there is no official replacement program. I am about to have the limitation like forever. A solution to downgrade would be perfect.
Try doing a factory reset, it worked for me. But, don't know if it works for everyone.

In some countries there is no official replacement program. I am about to have the limitation like forever. A solution to downgrade would be perfect.

Look by yourself in Samsungt official websites. See in how many countries they have representations. Look specially in africa. It's a very few countries. If you dig into news in sub Saharan africa, it's only in Nigeria where officials made a statement to question samsung about what they were planning regarding the country. And they threatened to ban samsung products. It's only in this case that they came up with a plan. Have a global look. In plenty countries there are no samsung official shops. Shops are just branded samsung because they order a lot. But there is no official link between these shops and samsung itself. So there is no recall or replacement plan. I even bought the phone in a cross border country. The guys apparently travelled by themselves to get 3 units in in dubaï. They are not willing to move a finger for me.
I have a limited phone for nothing. No solution to get it replaced.
See for yourself. Dig into samsung system and see by yourself how is the global situation related to replacement program.
It's not all about USA and Europe. It's a whole world concern.
Community has to do something for people like me.
I am not asking for a green battery icon. I am asking for a way to get my 100% battery back. And a way to have a custom rom. I think they even limited the phone's capacities because it suddenly became one of the worst samsung unit I had since note 3. I never saw a phone so slow since note 2.

I am in west africa. How much do you think it would cost to send a phone in dubaï? And who do I send the phone to? How will I get a replacement unit? How will a take it ?
Can you imagine like getting your phone replaced from USA to europe? Even in this situation it would be possible. What about the case for people like me?
Samsung should pay all costs... writing to samsung dubai won't hurt
i've sent mine back with knox trip 0x1 and with ketan custom rom^^ no problem with the exchange (Germany)
