[6.0.1] Samsung Stock Rom Port To J500FN [FN ONLY] Tweaked [BETA] - Samsung Galaxy J5 (2015) ROMs, Kernels, Recoveries

Update 19/09/16
ok people new update out, fairly minor changes here.
Changelog
Code:
Updated Kernel with some changes to help aid performance, enabled F2FS data mount support also.
Changed few minor things in rom - device identifies itself as a Galaxy S5 Mini currently as i try to sort out NFC.
Updated kernel included in recovery to allow F2FS formatting to work
performance seems to be noticeably improved but is still not perfect but i am still investigating
known problems
Code:
Flashlight does not work
Camera Autofocus can be a bit slow
Secure Lockscreen not working currently
Download Link: Mod edit : Link Removed
any bug reports welcome people.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
ok folks, been keeping this one quite quiet but have been working on it for a bit alongside the cm13 port ive already posted about.
this rom is based on samsungs stock 6.0.1 for the J500F and has had no major changes except for stripping a few bloat apps.
the kernel on the other hand is completely different to stock and is based on my current DMPKern for the j500f but has been modified to allow it to boot on the FN model,
so you have all the features of my custom kernel aswell as 6.0 os
link below, i have tested this for a bit and it seems to be working ok including audio etc,
it does sometimes lag a little especially with graphics work as one of the major changes to the kernel is in relation to the drivers for graphics and display.
calls and messages seem to work fine,
other testers are always welcome though

nevermind but dude great job! now focus on cm13 for fn xd

Thank you!
Thank you sir!
Using the rom right now, quite usable for a Beta! for sure it needs optimisation and some fixes but everything is just working! thanks for bringing MM on our device.
For the moment main issue I have is freeze of system.ui during some seconds, & few lags sometimes
And please, guys, don't tell the devs what to do, they're not working for you! or at least , you can be polite!!

[ROM Preview] Want to maintain me? [PARANOIDANDROID][1.2c]

Hi, I have this ported to the fascinate and was wondering if anyone with some experience would like to maintain further updates to this.
So far I do believe everything is working (calls,sms,mms,bt,wifi,gps,etc..) and it has a lot of neat features that have not been seen before, including the new PAL!
I will upload and provide a fully working zip if anyone wishes to take this on. Again everything works that I know of.
Preview Release
This is a MTD ROM, so all MTD rules apply! (ie: no 3 finger & must already be on mtd)
Since I did not post this in the Devolopment section please feel free to discuss and/or help each other.
Not a complete list! Might be more!
Not Working:
Portable wifi hotspots (Wifi tethering) Bluetooth tethering works though!
Camera does not record video
Bugs:
Choppy video playback
I recommend giving it about 20 seconds before clicking Start!
Includes: Gapps,CarHome,ROMManager & Terminal
Launchers: Trebuchet & NovaLauncher
All Pre-Glitched via prebuilts for your pleasure....
There may be other things that I missed but seems mostly working!
Flasher assumes risk:
First flash: Wipe Data!
1.1 to 1.1a and vice versa: Wipe Dalvik-cache & cache!

umm... I suppose I could post a test link? My upload isn't the best but I'm gonna get some grub and let it upload. I'll check back in awhile and hopefully post a test link here in the OP.
Dev-Host hangs at 99, tried it twice! Trying a different place now but if it don't work it's my last attempt for the night quite possibly!
Upload worked so there is a link up...
Also again while uploading I noticed video playback wasn't working, so there may be something else I missed. I do have video playback fixed though!

Yes video playback wasn't working which means video recording might not be. Also Camera does not have flash and a few settings missing. Regardless I have all of them taken care of now!

Nice Work
This ported version of PARANOIDANDROID won't boot on my roomate's Fascinate but when I flash it with the version for the Vibrant, his Fascinate boots and it works. I also have to flash Icy Glitch Beta 6 kernel for Fascinate to get this ROM working. The only problem is no data or 3g when using this method. I have a Vibrant and this ROM is awesome on it.

Weird
I wonder what I could be doing wrong? I've done a complete wipe and even formatted system and data. I was able to get CM9 SKANKWICH 6/1/12 working with no issue and the Vibrant version of this ROM with ICY Glitch Beta 6 Kernal for Fascinate working. I haven't ran accross an issue like this before. When flashing this ROM on the Fascinate, the phone just boots right back into recovery for me. I had an issue with the phone and had to Oden it back to stock. I'm gonna give it another shot and see if I can get it working. Any tips or suggestions would be great. One thing I did notice was on both the Fascinate and Vibrant, is that when playing flash video in the browser, the browser becomes unresponsive when I select fullscreen. I tested multiple sites that use flash video and everything works great until fullscreen is selected. Youtube app of course works fine, even in full screen. Thanks for all of your help and this freakin' sweet ROM. You rule.

Sorry no tips. Never had that happen before and I've put my phone in some pretty tough spots.
Thanks for the spot on flash, I personally haven't tried that yet. I haven't even had market on my phone for months.
But again I'm on 1.1a I think, several little clean-ups n fixes! I would maintain it possibly but I like source.

How many using CM10.1 by After_Silence

I can not post on the developer area so After_silence many thanks for your great work!
How many mediapad users using CM? After_silence has told that there are too few users out there using media pad, so he is no longer interested in developing for media pad. how many are we? I myself would love to continue using his excellent CM 10.1 and was eagerly waiting for BT to work on mediapad .
Sent from my Huawei MediaPad using Tapatalk 2
I want to install it but I'm using 301w model device and I'm not sure if it's going to work on it. I'm afraid to install it
I can't post to developer forums because I don't have enough post count so I'm middle of nowhere now.

Hey I'm using S7303u and cm10.1 works fine, I'm currently working on porting AC!D MOD for all enhanced audio, beats, xloud and clear+, bravia2 to run on media pad, its almost ready just running into storage issues in the system partition, not enough room to fully flash my zip, libs and framework not flashing, causing boot loop, broke zip into two desperate zips, you can install one or the other, works fine, but I need all mods together with settings to manipulate sound. I hope his break isn't two long was really looking forward to new builds, guess I'll try and get Bluetooth working for now
here... also using CM10... tried the CM10.1 for testing... and it is okay... but i am using BT and HOTSPOT so i return back to CM10... also can't reply to the CM10 thread...
so maybe after_silence thought there were only few of us using his FIRMWARE... but if the 10 post LIMIT is not there... he would receive a lot of response... and user feedback...
thanks again... for the nice firmware... still looking forward for the 4.2.2 (CM10.1)...

Then i pressed power button for a long time and pressed it again. Device turned off. After booting all works fine.
agreed, many thanks to the wonderful developers
i'm currently using aokp 30.1 final jb4.1.2, looking forward to bluetooth & most importantly more stable hdmi mirroring on the 4.2.2 nightlies though (so can output & play stuff like playstation emulator there or use with wireless keyboard/mouse as nice media pc on tv)

Where to get the ROM's
Hey guys,
I'm currently running the Stock Springboard + ROOT and loving it. Theres only one problem though: if i fill up my 32GB SD card with music, the machine slow to a halt. I believe this is an OS issue. Does anyone know if the new ROM's take care of this issue? Bluetooth is important to me. I'd prefer everything working: HDMI, 4G, BT & hotspot. Can someone give me some advice and where to get the ROM's and which ones to get?
Cheers,
Zubin

[ROM][4.3][ CM 10.2.] Unofficial CM 10.2 for Galaxy Note II (N7100)

It appears there is a new CM on the way... And it appeared it wasn't available for the Note 2... And that made me disappointed, so I set out to put that right.
4.3 is a small update from 4.2. Unfortunately, Google also decided to change almost everything about filesystem mounting. And Samsung exynos devices are a hotchpotch of everything...
Today, xplodwild and I carried out a war of attrition against the nasty Samsung devices. Firstly, there remains a battle-scar in the form of graphics, where we had to disable the ability of the device to screenshot itself. You'll see this in the lack of thumbnails for your long-press-home task switcher. #Blame-Samsung
Storage was a nightmare, but I have finally beaten it into submission. It should now work. Nicely. And properly. At least for now.
Because open source is wonderful, a VERY messy device tree (commits need squashed etc) - https://github.com/pulser/android_device_samsung_n7100/
I suggest a wipe before flashing, but I have tested from 4.2.2 and should be OK actually, maybe some apps will cry, but that's not my problem
Link: http://goo.im/devs/pulser/N7100/CM/cm-10.2-20130810-UNOFFICIAL-n7100.zip
Pretty much everything is working and tested - you shouldn't have any issues getting it to boot. The other version posted appears it may have issues booting, but I was not aware of its existence until just now. Actually, seems there's no link in the other thread, give this a shot, and see if it helps you. There's a lot of issues on Exynos devices when doing any kind of update... Sneeze and it might explode!

BTW (off-topic but... I believe necessary when it comes to AOSP and Exynos) When I click on your githup link the Audio recording fix is on top of the list for 6 months ago, which reminds me; we have never got the chance to see CM 10.1 recording audio properly on videos or sound record apps (not saying it is mono but the sound is terrible actually).. For now it seems the only thing that prevents me (and some others I guess) from using any AOSP ROM as a daily and "fully functional" driver is this problem. Any chance that we can see 10.2 have proper audio recording? Since our voice is recorded just fine on calls we can say the mic is working as it should on both at earspeaker and the loudspeaker. So, there is a software which can use the mics properly and I -with all my heart and never-ending hope- believe this software could be also used for good sounded video recording or help us not to shout too much for Google Now
Thanks for reading. And the ROM

works without a hitch. no bootloop nothing. simply booted up and worked. Huge thanks for that PulserG2 and xplodwild =)
Will try this new one tomorrow... Thanks!
BTW. Is anyone using GoBackup Pro or Titanium Backup? I had an issue on my Nexus 4 running 4.3 .
They didn't restored my Apps. Since the Note 2 uses a SD Card Slot, would it be the same issue?

This sounds like something more for the guys that did the work on the audio HAL. I've not looked into the solution, but audio on these devices is a dirty hack with tinyhal
there are some occasional rendering glitches with the stock browser while loading a page and scrolling through. nothing majorly bad but still visible at times.
(independent of the webpages i visited)
despite that I didn't come across any other bugs. once again great job :good:
finally glad to see the update in our devices thank you guys

Re 4.3 in general
I have been testing 4.3 on an "old" device , my Nexus S, the last couple of days. Interestingly, the device was much smoother than 4.2 based ROMs, at least on that limited processor device.
Once this all gets ironed out is there reason to believe that 4.3 will be better for our Note 2's?
Thanks for your work !

It really depends on your use cases...
I can make the fastest and most cutting edge android phone lag like crazy without installing anything silly...
I just need to type at my full speed on SwiftKey for about a minute and it will be lagging pretty horrendously. That's a bad app - SwiftKey is very poor lately for performance.
Why do I mention this? Well, your definition of better or smoother will really depend on what you are doing. Android is a horrendously complex operating system. It is ridiculously inefficient in many ways such as how data is presented to the user.
As such there are many badly written apps which will slow down your device. I reckon unless Google considers using native code for drawing the screens, we will never reach the true smoothness the hardware is capable of.
At the end of the day, a particular apple phone is available with lesser processor, graphics and RAM. Yet it offers smoother in-use performance because of its use of native code where possible, rather than a virtual machine based language like java.
I don't think it seems significantly faster than 4.2, but I probably am hard to please. I simply despair as I look at the code in android... All the nasty object orientation and strange ways to to things... Each and every time it happens, the java virtual machine must run instructions.
I reckon if you reduced the number of lines of code used to achieve simple tasks like show the settings menu (which is horrendous with resources in countless files and java classes), performance would be vastly superior.
Probably not much of an answer, but if anyone else is irritated by the horrendously inefficient code in android, I've finally found someone else who sees it!
That actually helps a lot. I think the processor and the device makes a difference too with the Nexus S being a "Google" device and the Note 2 being Samsung.
I just notice that when browsing Tapatalk that seems to be my main gauge - the scrolling seemed pretty smooth even on the Nexus S.
I read in the Nexus thread that the 4.3 code was written to run with less sytem resources but I wasn't sure of the source of that comment.

thanks! i flashed the 10.2 with the older official gapps... nothing seems to be wrong with it and everything is working
do you know what is new with the latest GApps as attached a few posts above?
Flashed it, and it's working good. For the 1st Build it's working quite fine. But the camera (app?) isn't working properly. I took one pic, the camera froze, and when I launched the camera again, it said "No connection to camera".
It's the first build so yeah.. this can happen of course

S-View Cover on CM / Custom ROMs

Just wanted to let you guys know of an open source implementation of the Hall sensors which allow the function of the S'View covers to work on custom ROMs like CM
HallMonitor
https://github.com/durka/HallMonitor/blob/master/README.md
Credits fully to the author, just posting here to let you guys know about it

Mayby you should go back and read again what it does and what it uses before posting crap? Yes it uses the proximity sensor but it also uses the s-view sensor.
But it is no way near how nicely stock works.

Dude, i know. I used it a while ago on CM. At first it seems cool and everything, but after a while it annoys the crap out of you. Every time you accidentally place my finger near the proximity sensor the app goes off and interrupts what you were doing. I'm back on stock now and it's way nicer. Just flashed it yesterday after being on cm for months.
It's not as polished as in stock...
BUT, since version 0.2.x, it's improved a lot, and if pretty fine working
and, as said above it DOES utilize the magnetic sensor, no finger-craziness here
(Look on F-Droid for the latest version)
hi !

Try the new relese 0.4.1 it uses only the hall effect sensor, so it will consume less battery
You can answer phone calls not by swiping, by just touch.

Hello,I have an Galaxy S5 and when i install hall monitor the s view screen size turns smaller
Is there any galaxy s5 cover edition of the app
Development progress / support for CM12.1
Development of HallMonitor seems to have stopped since version 0.4.2 (latest commit of the author "durka" is from 22 Jul 2014). This version doesn't support CM12(.1) (see issue 52 on durka's GitHub page).
Installation of the "MagnetOff" Xposed module is not a very useful workaround since you can't use the hall sensor (magnet sensor) anymore and would have to fall back on the proximity sensor (which is a pain in the a**).
The GitHub user "manusfreedom" has added several features and took development up to his version 2.0.2 beta (but his last commit is quite old too, from 21 Sep 2014). Has anyone tested manusfreedoms fork on CM12(.1)? Or does anyone know about a revival of HallMonitor's development? Would be so awesome to have this for CM12.1 :cyclops:
no rom with stock kernel? or export the s-view feature?

Xposed Modules for V20

I know there's a whole thread dedicated to working modules but I wanted to start one for this phone, basically just what works what doesnt, I'm running
AD Blocker Reborn
Amplify
Greenify
Flat Style Keyboard
And Xmessenger
They all work perfect if anybody is running anything else that works feel free to let everybody know
I should say I'm not as well versed in Xposed as some people, I started using it in Kit Kat maybe maybe lollipop not sure but I'll try my best to answer any questions that get asked
Did you get the autotint feature to work with the flat style keyboard?

I can't seem to get amplify working on my phone. Mind telling which rom are you using and what type of root (supersu or magisk)?

There's a magisk module called greenify4magisk and it allows it to run in Xposed mode I'm on break at work or id link it for you and also a few posts above said use 3.7.1 I would try that it will probably work better
Edit: I just installed 3.7.1 and it detects Xposed and works great

Released officially for Nougat a few days ago, I'm on WETA Rom and everything is pretty smooth, I made this thread so people can post what works and what doesn't specifically for this phone, there is an ongoing thread for all working modules on nougat but that includes AOSP ROMs and not all of us are running AOSP, also haven't run into any major issues boot times are a little bit longer but I haven't noticed a decrease in battery life or performance
Guys, do you xposed might work on Tilde's ROM?

If it's a stock based Rom I can't see why it wouldn't work, same goes for an AOSP Rom, as always make a Nandroid backup in TWRP before flashing just in case it doesn't work

I went to WETA for customization and the aroma installer had a bunch of stuff I could choose from, rooting in general it's just something I've been doing since my first Android phone, I'm amazed at what I can do with basically complete control, as I say to my friends that don't know what root is, if I want to do something I more than likely can, music didn't sound good enough to me so I installed viper4android music sounds amazing and I couldn't go back to stock, I wanted my battery to last longer so I installed greenify to force doze when I turn my screen off so I can get iPhone levels of standby drain, also it's just something fun to do there's always new stuff going on, Xposed just got released officially a few days ago and I honestly can't wait to see what comes of it.

yeah I would love to be able to force DOZE and also use Greenify to help preserve battery.. but nervous what features i'd lose going away from stock... does everything still function? or did you loose things like 2nd screen, or camera quality etc ?

Yeah i had started with the VS995 Verizon variant when I first went to the V20.. but after we switched to MetroPCS (via TMobile service).. I noticed that without all of the GSM bands.. my connection was HORRIBLE.. plus I did not have the WIFI calling / SMS features... so I switched to the H918 variant... SO Glad I did.. love the knowledge I could unlock my bootloader.. and it seems to have some of the default features that Verizon had locked out... IE FM Radio.. etc..
right now i'm on the 10q software.. so not sure if i'm locked out of anything or if thats still able to root / unlock and flash safely.

As far as I know 10p still hasn't been rooted, I would hold off updating for a bit if you do want to root, I don't know when a 10q root will be available
