Direct link to confirm whether your Note 7 is part of the recall or not - Note 7 Guides, News, & Discussion

I've seen a few threads updating information on the recall. I haven't seen this crucial link posted yet so I'm hoping this post isn't redundant.
It's very simple. Please go to this website and enter your IMEI number. This will immediately inform you of whether your phone is part of the recall or not. If it is, I suggest taking part in the exchange. If not, then it's up to you. Good luck.

As mentioned earlier in the thread it is the IMEI of SIM 1 that is used to identify ur phone, which should be the one printed on the box.

I have a green bright green battery icon now!

Hey all.
I used the Samsung imei and serial number checker on their website made for the US. I'm based in the UK with a sim-free Coral Blue Note 7.
My replacement (Received Sept 12th) device showed - Not from the affected batch when entering both the IMEI and Serial number. (Good News)
My First Device - Showed *affected* when just the serial number was entered. It showed *not from the affected batch** when using the IMEI number only. Interesting results.
I guess our UK devices do now work on their website. I hope this info helps in some shape or form.

Question about a blacklisted verizon phone

I have a verizon note 2 I bought off cragslist recently its imei is blacklisted on verizon I was wondering if I do the apn hack would it work on att .

Yes, the fact that it's blacklisted simply means that Verizon's database shows it as not being able to be activated. This has no effect on the phones usability on another carrier.

Keep in mind att uses gsm radio and Verizon uses CDMA.
You may run into trouble.
However I believe the Verizon note 2 is a works phone?
Who knows exactly what that means for you.
God bless the American people.
Figures someone who uses barrack Obama as name wouldn't be any help how fitting. The note II has gsm and cdma radios. It's unlocked from the factory so you can throw a t-mobile, AT&T, straight talk ect and it'll work fine. The note supports 1900mhz frequency which is the refarned hspa42 for t-mobile and 3g hspa for at&t

I buy/sell/trade phones and I've run into a couple bad esn phones (no I don't buy them, shady people report them stolen). I actually picked up a Note 2 several months ago. I checked the esn over 611, came back clean, brought it home several hours later to put it on my wife's line. We popped her sim in, it activated, then almost immediately deactivated. After hours on the phone with Verizon they said the seller reported it and there was nothing I could do. We got her a new sim card and reactivated her S3. As I considered my options, the next day I called Verizon and checked the ESN again. The lady said it was clean. I didn't understand and took it to the store to ask a rep. It was explained to me that when a IMEI is blacklisted, it "burns" the sim card you put in it. Since we are in no way faulted on our plan, we were given a new sim card. The rep explained that the phone is blacklisted against that one sim card. So if I put my new sim in, it is now linked to my (clean) account.
Long story short - if you pop in a sim card, it will get zapped. If you get a new one and try again, it SHOULD work fine on Verizon.
I hold no responsibility to what you do or how accurate that info is. It worked for me and was approved by a Verizon rep. Try it or don't.

And "yes", it will work on AT&T if you add APN's. No LTE though. Only AT&T's 4G (kinda like 3G+) and lower.

if all the next guy needs to do is pop two sim cards in it and it works?

If a seller reports a phone stolen, they can sell the phone and collect the cash, then turn it into insurance and get a new phone.
They don't care about you actually still being able to use the phone or not, only that they get free money and a new phone.
I bought my Note 2 off of Craigslist in November I checked the number with Verizon. I was told everything was good to go. About two weeks ago I got a call from the Sheriff's office letting me know that I was in possession of a phone that had been stolen directly from one of their stores. I had put my own SIM card in so I never had any issues.

I would assume that you could, Just because Verizon has put the ban hammer down on the phone doesn't necessarily mean that other carriers would also. I guess the best way to know is to give it a shot.

I had a similar issue with a S3 when they first came out. I traded a Razr Maxx for it. I used it for a while until I found a blue one, so I gave it (white) to my wife. About 3 months later I got a call from an investigative department of Verizon. I explained the situation and they allowed me to keep the S3 (unblacklisted) for cooperating with them. I gave them all the info of the person I got it from. That guy called me a week later to warn me that Verizon may be calling, lol. Turns out the person be bought it from had stolen several of these off a Fed Ex truck before they reached the store.

[Q] Recycle Blocked Phone?

It would appear I've been silly and bought a blocked phone on Gumtree.
I bought it almost a year ago though and it's working on 3's network all this time, but none of the other networks work apparently. I didn't know this and sold it on eBay, the recipient couldn't get it working and I've had the phone back and given him a refund. He says he had a CheckMEND done and it says it's blocked on some networks.
I'm reading what CheckMEND say about recycling them and I get the impression if no-one claims it after 28 days it's deemed to be mine and I would then get the £££
I just wonder if anyone else has experience of this and any advice on what I should do?

It doesn't work because it doesn't accept others sim card or it's blacklisted (by IMEI number) because it is flag as stollen ?
If it's a Sim lock protection, no problem. If it's your IMEI number, the phone is dead and your can put it in a bin or use it as an expansive mp3/mp4 player.

Received OP2 (Chinese Version) - UK, EE

Hello everyone,
I have received my OnePlus 2 today - it is the Chinese version of the handset with Oxygen OS 2.0 installed (with no bloatware). I thought I would post this in-case it is helpful to anyone, I can confirm the following:
4G/LTE work fine on EE
Dual SIM works fine - I can both make and receive from the two SIM cards - however I cannot see the phone number of the SIM in slot two (probably because the phone only has 1 IMEI I suspect - but this does not stop me making or receiving calls on the SIM in slot two)
I will continue testing things but so far so good, very happy.
EE is great for FDD-LTE phones from China. I've had loads work fine, including my old Chinese OnePlus One.
Interesting re. dual SIMs working - good news for importers. Out of interest, do you have two IMEIs on the inside back (my International variant does)?

I'm using three UK with a Chinese version OPT. LTE works however when signal falls down to 3G, the possibility is that it will not revert to 4G unless you reboot. very annoying. probably a baseband issue
I also have a chinese one from merimobile but mine came preloaded with a whole load of malware. An Oxygen rom of some kind with the usual chinese 3 "browser" icons and lots of "your phone is running slowly" notifications....
I flashed the Oxygen rom that is easy to find, gives Oxygen 2.0.0 and no malware that I can find, but it does have actionbar issues - both K9-mail and Up crash on startup with logcat lines similar to this :
AndroidRuntime( 1843): Caused by: java.lang.NullPointerException: Attempt to invoke virtual method 'void android.app.ActionBar.setDisplayShowCustomEnabled(boolean)' on a null object reference

I had similar problems. If you have enabled Dark mode under Customization then try turning it off. That fixed a lot of issues for me.

Thanks
But in case of Aliexpress try to find the seller with strong reputation and some fast delievery (like DHL or EMS) or you can wait for ages (many of them do not have the phone on hand and can tell you long stories why you should wait). And before payment contact the seller and ask the question about avaliabilty and when he can sent the phone to you.

I guess they are just importing them in bulk from China? Still loving it?
It took a week to arrive via DPD - it came with a converter plug, screen protector and case for free too. I really do love the handset, it has worked out quite well for me having confirmed dual SIM functionality does work and I get LTE on EE.

You should be fine with Three, if you get either the EU/Asia variant or the Chinese. The EU/Asia variant would be better as it can access both bands that Three use for 4G are 3 (1800Mhz) and 20 (800Mhz).

For the label and listing doesn't have to be always right! The call thing is just to be sure ... Works on almost every mobile phone with a few exceptions.

The one that I returned ended up being affected.
All that where sold before they announced the recall will show up affected, it doesn't mean the phone will have a problem. Of course everyone should change it regardless....
Mine came up "affected" but i haven't had any issues and i watch it like crazy

It says in the article that this IMEI tool is for future purposes. An example would be buying a used Note7 off of Ebay or something. You won't know for certain if you are buying a "first gen" Note7 or a "2nd gen" one unless you use this tool.
So as of this very post, every single one of us who use this check tool will have affected phones. The tool is currently useless until the fixed phones come out and the population begins to mix with a few stragglers of the old version.
Edit: Only phones currently not affected are the Chinese phones btw.

My tmobile dot com

Interesting how the My T Mobile com website notices the devices I am using, normally if I purchase unlocked international devices they show up as "unknown" but the two Samsung Note 8's we bought from Samsung directly ( TMO versions ) are already registered on their system when I log into my tmo website. Just thought Id find that interesting. Even got the colors right, wife is orchid grey mine black.
TMobile branded have tmobile IMEI , IMEI have the color and gig size tied to it , once a Sim is installed it's registered in that network
I've had the opposite experience. Whenever I log in it shows I have an old HTC Windows phone that I had back in 2011. I can change it but it doesn't stick.

I have the Note 8 just got 2 days ago,
but my s8 plus I bought on ebay from someone who bought it from Samsung, tmobile branded.. when I went to unlock it, it said the imei is not registered... I had to call tmobile so they can add the imei and then call back in 3 days to have it unlocked,
but know I hear about going to twitter and speak to rep and they will have it unlocked quickly... i just don't know who exactly the twitter handle is...
if someone knows the name let me know...
edit
here it is... @TmobileHelp · I'm on twitter on the pc, much easier then mobile for me...
edit.. took about 2 hours in 1 chat cause they didn't respond all the time and my son had my phone that I didn't notice a few texts,
but yes, it was done super fast compared to a few days or so..
earlier I was able to do temporary for 30 days, then after twitter and showing the paid receipt the person who sent me the info, they were able to do it.
