Weather app - ZTE Axon 7 Themes, Apps, and Mods

Can someone that's rooted grab the weather app and widget from system for me please.
Thanks
Sent from my ZTE A2017U using XDA-Developers mobile app

If you're not rooted, how are you going to install it?

Curious if there is a way to use the ZTE Weather app on another launcher? is that possible without root?

strange, can't find the weather widget on the G model. Only the clock that doesn't work because it displays the wrong time.

Give this a try if it is available in your region. Transparent Clock & Weather
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.droid27.transparentclockweather&hl=en
It is almost identical to the Axon weather widget (I wondered if this was licensed by ZTE for the Axon!) and I use it in place of the on-board widget. Fully configurable.

Can this app you linked give you a list of upcoming weather today for each hour? ie: a list like 1pm, 2pm, 3pm etc that shows the changing sun and precipitation? Can it show this either on the widget, or in the app when tapping the widget? It's incredibly useful for figuring out at what specific time rain will start downpouring.
The US Axon stock weather widget will also this, but only by several taps and going to a webpage.

Yes it can. And I should say it can be made to look like the Axon weather app almost exactly if that's what you like. It can be configured many other ways as well.

You could try HTC's Clock/Weather app & widget:

Thanks mate! Do I need the sense launcher for the widget?
My last 3 phones have been HTC. Love HTC sense especially blinkfeed. Does it work on the axon, too?

Ay, my bad. True, HTC widget only work with HTCSense. Sorry.
I'm a HTC / Sense fan since day one, and bought the A7 only after I was sure Sense would run on it. I'm not rooted (yet) so I can't run every app yet, but sense, clock/weather and galery app run fine.

Hi,
I installed HtcSenseHome, HtcServicePack, Weather, WorldClock, HtcWeatherClockWidget and HtcLocationServicesSetting from https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=92582 Besides that I installed Gallery and Calendar from https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=76053
As far as I know blinkfeed will work (if you install the plugings) but I don't use blinkfeed, so try it and you'll know I'm still trying to get other apps working, but I guess I need root for that. I really want People/Mail to work.
Didn't try Sense 8, maybe later, for now I'm happy. Stock ZTE software is a real let down if you used HTC's for years :crying:

Weather/Clock/Calender

Just flashed over to CM7 from sense. only thing i missed about sense was the stock clock/weather app. i saw a few on the market that were supposed to mimic the sense one, but they looked ****ty.
also, the stock calender app. i dont want a planner, or a text based one about where im supposed to be. i want a 4x4 widget that shows the months with the days.
any out there?
a full 4x4 news widget would be cool too. the stock sense one was nice, but thats gone, and i used buzz box too but that was taken off the app market on 1.27

Not completely. They're not animated like the Sense widget is.
I don't mind not having the animations I've heard good things about beautiful widget I guess ill go with that.
Any input for calendars? I'm using s2 now but I'm not fond of the look of it. Like i said not really looking for something to keep track of dates just something to scroll to to see what the date it two Saturdays from now or something.

Not really, sadly. I don't really use calanders that much. And beautiful Widgets has animations, as does fancy Widgets pro. Just make sire to turn on animations in the settings.

If you're running ADW or Launcher Pro where you can resize widgets you might wanna check out the Weather/Clock/News widget from the LG Optimus 2X. if you are running Sense the widget takes up a 4x4 space but only shows displays 2x2 space (2x3 if you turn on the yahoo news part of the widget) personally I like it even though it's not animated like the Sense clock or Beautiful Widgets.

I like using "Jorte" from the market as my calender it can sync with your google calender and come with a lot of widget sizes that shows the entire month

I would recommend using WP clock (in market) or make your clock (type "make your clock" in search engine on XDA). I really DIG both of them and have been stuck using Make your clock.

Yeah, but the skins look like cheap knock-offs at best. Also, I just tried Beautiful Widgets again and, nope, no animated clock flipping. Weather animations, sure, but no clock flipping, sorry bro.

well you were not specific in which animations you were referring to. You are indeed correct that there are no flipping animations in any but the Sense clock. However, the skins enable these widgets to look LIKE the Sense clock (although, for copyright reasons, none can look EXACTLY like it, of course).
Honestly, I didnt really care for the flip animations on the Sense clock, as it always started an hour behind just to show the animations as it flipped to the correct time, which annoyed me.
And the new beautiful widgets super clock looks sick

You could get LauncherPro. That has a calendar widget that looks an awful lot like the sense widget.

It does work. You just have to use the home.apk first. Then install the widget to that home app. It's pretty nice actually!
Or do you mean you don't want to have to use that launcher?

I would love to see this ported as well. I've been using the Atrix HD launcher to use it, but I'm getting sick of the persistent Google bar at the top of each screen -- especially since it doesn't play well with Google Now. I'm on a Bionic running the .232 ICS link, by the way.
Trying to port this app
I'm digging through the code right now, trying to find a way to make this awesome widget available to anyone with JB and possibly ICS and earlier, I'll have to test it a bit, but I will post if I make any progress.

Sweet wallpaper. ^^ Hm,
Some times a big picture comes along, doesn't really matter. As long as it's not all of the time. At imgur.com, on the right side, you can upload, once you pick the file, before you click "Upload" you can tick "edit" besides the image, and you'll get to another screen once you press upload, there you can say "lock proportions" and then just type in a smaller ress, the other number should then follow. But I use photoshop to resize. Never thought of the resizing thing on imgur before now. Pretty handy.

Hi I tried to sort out links from Play but being an old fart, I just can't get it to work sorry.
I use ADW launcher but the theme should work with nova fine.
The theme is called Graphene theme by Dcomobile. Unfortunately it's a paid for theme but it's not horribly priced.
My date and time is through UCCW app and the actual skin is called "texty"
Now I bought texty when it came out and as I hadn't flashed a new rom in 6months or so on my n7 (I used Rascarlo) I don't know when texty disappeared from the play store.
It can be found with a bit of googling.
That's pretty much it

i think many of these are already in development by our developers...i know some of them are already added in some ROMS.
This OP is just to make every user to discuss in every aspect to combine some interesting Mods & Features for our G2
I am with you my friend.

No need to port BlinkFeed, it will soon be available as an app in Play Store.

I am with you on this too. I think you might find that pretty soon your/our wishes may be granted.
Blinkfeed as said above will probably be available to all very soon. Knock code and hiding the navigation bar has already been implemented in the latest Korean update and so should be implanted in the next update that we receive. Hopefully very shortly.

Yeah, it works with the Flex theme . But in theory, if you open the Flex theme and remove everything but the weather widget then apply at it would be like having a stock theme with the flex weather

So something like this? Modified of course but essentially it's the stock LG theme with the flex weather widget

You need the zooper widget as well from the play store. It's what you apply that theme to.

No, the one I showed in the ss is the stock flex widget. Animated and all. Need to figure out as few more things before releasing it though

nope my idea is to create a lg flex weather widget on lg g2 stock theme, not via 3rd party launcher or themer

app drawer addition?

I saw in a review that LG's new UI has removed the app drawer. Does anyone think that when we get custom ROMs we will get the re-addition of the app drawer in "stock based" ROMs?
Just use a launcher as nova, and the drawer is back

That's the way Android is headed. Android N is rumoured to be this way too.
You could use a 3rd party launcher. Too early to say what (if any) custom ROMs will be. No word on bootloader yet as far as I know.
It has an app drawer. It has two launchers.

I think it may have been disabled in the apk. I need to look to lghome.apk published kdz.

Thanks for the heads up.
They haven't removed the app drawer, just disabled it and left out the possibility to turn it on. Easy home have been available as an option at least on the the g3 and the g4, but it's not something you would want to use. Icons are larger, you can't choose widgets or customize it like the regular home. If you really want the app drawer back you will need to use a third party launcher like nova.

This is all correct. I'd like to add that if you find any LG widgets useful (I do, after using LG phones exclusively for years) then Nova will not let you use them, so in my opinion, still not a viable solution.

I agree. Nova is a great launcher and I used it on every Samsung earlier. But after I switched to LG their UX kind of grown on me with it's widgets, smart notice etc. Hopefully LG will implement an option to get the app drawer back before the release. Otherwise I don't think I'll be getting one before theirs a tweak that allows to switch it back on.

New info,
Download the LG Home 4.0 theme from the LG Smartworld app on G5 and it restores app drawer.
Where the F was LG on this. They need to get their sh*t out there so people know what's going on with their UI/UX.
They are murdering themselves with incompetency marketing wise.
P.S. V-Lo is badass
If you want a app drawer everything you download put it in a folder and pow you have a app drawer

Awesome, just download and app drawer is back. I have to set my home screen up again but that's no big deal! Thanks!
FYI - LG Smartworld is loaded on your phone. Just open it in the LG folder and search on Home and it comes right up.

On the stock launcher, there is an LG Apps folder. It's in there. Download and install, then set it as your default launcher.
