RecorderThe recorder app built into the Honor 8 is very simple to use. You have REC, Pause and Stop controls. Some recorders have a tendency to over complicate the process by adding too many additional features. The stock recorder here seems to strike a perfect balance.
ThemesCustomize your system down to the very last detail. The easy to use theme engine built into the Honor 8 gives you a bunch of possibilities from custom icons, wallpapers, animations, font styles and more. Mess around with it to create your own theme, or import themes from the Play store.
Phone ManagerThe phone manager is a very clever app that manages all sorts of activities on your phone. It will scan your system and close out of apps to keep your phone running at an optimal speed. You can also manage your harassment filters, white listed apps, pin locked apps, notifications and much more.

I like the steps counter.
The remote control app looks really useful but haven't tried it yet.

So far so good. These are useful apps (Atleast I think they are) Are there any bloatware?

The only "bloat" I found when I received my phone was apps that led to customer support, store page, and other Honor webpages. But these can be easily removed by uninstalling. Other than that there isn't much. There is this included Mirror app which I don't really find useful when I found just use the camera app as a mirror.

The remote control app is wonderful! It has more brands than I can count in an hour (no, I haven't tried). So far I have it set up to both the TV and the sattelite receiver. I think I'll try it on the floor fan next time.

Dev wanted for tablet mode refinements

im looking for a developer with some android background who could help to implement some changes regarding per app dpi as explained here.
what this will do is break free what many have come to call "tablet mode" but this time without blowing the phone to bits. we could have the best of both worlds: tablet UI, tablet apps (gapps, settings, youtube, everything tablet HD & related) and normal apps running in their default layouts. the problem is that google created a hole between tiny phones from 2005 and big tablets. all our phones fall in it. it makes no sense that a nexus for instance runs in 1-column layout, its ridiculous actually for such a huge screen. tablet mode, as it is right now, helps, but it forces non-tablet apps into tiny layouts.
now we've had some success with our manual mod and even some dev's jumped in to adapt their apps, nova for instance is now tablet mode ready. but we just need to dig further. without per app dpi this will only be interesting for a small audience. with the setting in check it will probablby blow over and re-define ICS as we know it.
i managed to compile cm9 and im learning how to deal with it but its so much. a simple grep for stuff takes like an hour because its gigabytes of code. it grows way over my head right now. i think i've found A. the position where the treshold for the tablet switch is implemented which could be lowered and B. how to implement individual DPI but there's stuff missing. anyone who's interested to help or lead us in this, please contact me.
ps. what we'll get will look like this:

with that setting it could be like that on all phones, not just high density ones like nexus.
thanks!

[Q] Disable Location set by GPS Notification

As stated. I am using anti theft software that forces my phone to switch on wifi and GPS but as soon as it does I get that message telling me something is using my GPS etc. This looks suspicious to a potential thief in my opinion so I want to know if there was anyway at all I could remove or disable this pop up

Well. I have found out that Cerberus somehow disables this message shortly after it is displayed. However I prefer to use PhoneLocator Pro and that is the problem app for me. I contacted the developer and this is the reply
Hello !
This issue is because of your custom ROM you are running.
This is not happening in all the ROM's and you should ask developers of this rom how this issue can be fixed - maybe there is a way to disable this.
I will document myself on this, but I don't know if this can be fixed - even if you are saying that Cerberus doesn't have this behavior . Cereberus might be using a hack to turn on the GPS, a hack which I don't want to use cause Google is watching and these things can ban your app from the Play store.
Switch to Avast.
You can remotely lock the phone, sound an alarm, send text, forward calls, forward text, wipe phone info, gps track etc.... all through text commands. You also have the added benefit of anti-virus and firewall protection.
Best of all..... It's FREE.

I have that installed as well, it isn't as feature rich in comparison to PhoneLocator Pro or Cerberus. Plus I like to use the web based interface rather than SMS
how to disable GPS notification in coolpad note 3. I turn off the location "setting->location->OFF" but it doesn't work.

In Windows phone 8.1, you can individually select your notification sounds for each app.
Here you will find a large collection of notification sounds.
You can not only download the notification sounds.
It can upload each its own notification sounds.
As a result there is always something new.
Find the coolest notification sounds and share your own with other users.
Available in 45 languages
Version 1.2.45.0
Now completely free of charge!!!
First research was hardly purchased the app.
The 5 notification sounds in the trial seem to be the most sufficient.
However, users spend to hear through the sounds so much time, that advertising revenues are higher than the revenue from the sale of the app.
That's why I decided to offer the app completely free of charge.
The first result can be also consistently.
Until last night, a total of 5000 notification tones have been downloaded.
In the last 20 hours, entire 15000 new downloads added.
Among those who have already purchased the app still no ads will appear.
Greetings
Moses
Thanks for the app Moses, after installing the app worked fine for the first run, I downloaded the M60 notification and make it my ringtone.
After the second attempt the app hangs on the startscreen. (XTROSE App Studios).
So I turned my device (Nokia Lumia 630) off and on and the app is running without any problems and I could also create my xtrose account.
Maybe nice to know for people who are facing the similar problem and decided to remove this nice app.
Thankz,
Thank you very much for helping
The app is dependent on a constant Internet connection.
If a connection is not possible, so the app can not download the content.
Today is the first day where the app is in the store.
As a result there were very many requests to the server, so that he in short term did not respond.
In the last 24 hours, 30,000 notification sounds have been downloaded
Thank you very much, to all users, for supporting this app

Some suggestions for having a rooted device

I dont know why I dont see thread about alternative appstores and other stuff.
I thought, well, let me be the first guy.
This device is my most favorite phone I have ever held so I thought about making a thread about somethings you might not know, especially if you have a rooted phone.
Let me start:
FDroid https://f-droid.org/
This is an opensource appstore that you can install, root or no root. Not only does it have interesting apps, its free and offers some apps which were banned by google because those apps were responsible for "Blocking" ads, such as adaway, adblock+.
There are some interesting apps which I use.
Adaway, removes ads by blocking them in the phone's host file. I have run into issues with this one. You may need CM to make this one work correctly.
AfWall+, my most favorite app there is. Its a firewall that you can customize to block apps from communicating with the internet. Very handy for those apps that download ads or privacy.
GnuCash, its a accounting app. It helps with keeping up with bills and prices.
K9-Mail, custom mail app, offers some extra options compared to your normal Email App in your phone.
DocumentViewer, very handy as it offers full screen viewing, with the Z ultra its very neat.
OpenConnect, VPN app.
DashClock, very very cool clock widget. It allows for customization.
hacker's keyboard, customizable Keyboard.
Adblock Plus, self explanatory...
aLogcat ROOT, full system logging,
Arity, complex calculator with more features than standard android calculator.
URecord lets you record sound.
Phone recorder, records every phone call you make.
All these apps are FREE and some of them or all, have open source licences. Which means, you can read and learn from their stuff.
Also, there is the amazon appstore, they offer a free app everyday.
Last, I want to stress that there are many ways to overcome google's lockdown on apps by country. I use aptoide, an appstore which offers many apps available in the google playstore.
However, you can use the online version aswell. Very useful for those guys or ladies living in countries where apps are not available.
If someone can share some more apps, do so!
Really the only thing that made me want to root this thing(stock GPe rom) was to remove the soft keys and install LMT Launcher. I can mostly use this thing one handed now.

[MOD] One Hand Zoom Enabler (Adobe Reader/Firefox)

The usual way to zoom in a webpage (/map/document etc.) is the two finger pinch in/out gesture. However since Android 4.4 there's the new Double-touch drag gesture (One-finger press, lift, one-finger press, move, lift) allowing to zoom using just one hand/finger. (Thanks to Google's AppCompat it also works with older versions of Android.)
This handy gestures is supported in Google Maps, Google Earth, Chrome, Gmail and some other apps. See the actual gesture on video.

Although supporting this gesture is no harder than switching from Holo to Material or writing 100 lines of code, plenty of top Play Store developers keep ignoring it (despite of my email requests). Both Mozilla Firefox (bug) and Adobe Acrobat Reader have over 100 million downloads from Play Store yet they are unable to support this feature.
Therefore here come Xposed to rescue. Initially I wanted to create universal solution but I no longer think something like that is doable because of custom double click detections etc. I started with Adobe Reader and Mozilla Firefox and managed to hack in support for this gesture using Xposed. So the currently supported apps are:
Adobe Reader 15.2.2, 15.3
Firefox 42.0, 43.0 & Nightly/Fennec 45.0
I intent to look into supporting other apps as well. Next in line are OpenStreetMap apps such as Osmand (bug), MAPS.ME and Scout.
Let me know if there are any other apps you'd like to have supported (maps, office/document viewers and editors). The current module version is limited to Android 4.4 and up.
This module has been merged into new module http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/mod-xposed-tweaks-cm-t3279109. Please check that module for any future updates.
