Some suggestions for having a rooted device - Sony Xperia Z Ultra

I dont know why I dont see thread about alternative appstores and other stuff.
I thought, well, let me be the first guy.
This device is my most favorite phone I have ever held so I thought about making a thread about somethings you might not know, especially if you have a rooted phone.
Let me start:
FDroid https://f-droid.org/
This is an opensource appstore that you can install, root or no root. Not only does it have interesting apps, its free and offers some apps which were banned by google because those apps were responsible for "Blocking" ads, such as adaway, adblock+.
There are some interesting apps which I use.
Adaway, removes ads by blocking them in the phone's host file. I have run into issues with this one. You may need CM to make this one work correctly.
AfWall+, my most favorite app there is. Its a firewall that you can customize to block apps from communicating with the internet. Very handy for those apps that download ads or privacy.
GnuCash, its a accounting app. It helps with keeping up with bills and prices.
K9-Mail, custom mail app, offers some extra options compared to your normal Email App in your phone.
DocumentViewer, very handy as it offers full screen viewing, with the Z ultra its very neat.
OpenConnect, VPN app.
DashClock, very very cool clock widget. It allows for customization.
hacker's keyboard, customizable Keyboard.
Adblock Plus, self explanatory...
aLogcat ROOT, full system logging,
Arity, complex calculator with more features than standard android calculator.
URecord lets you record sound.
Phone recorder, records every phone call you make.
All these apps are FREE and some of them or all, have open source licences. Which means, you can read and learn from their stuff.
Also, there is the amazon appstore, they offer a free app everyday.
Last, I want to stress that there are many ways to overcome google's lockdown on apps by country. I use aptoide, an appstore which offers many apps available in the google playstore.
However, you can use the online version aswell. Very useful for those guys or ladies living in countries where apps are not available.
If someone can share some more apps, do so!

Really the only thing that made me want to root this thing(stock GPe rom) was to remove the soft keys and install LMT Launcher. I can mostly use this thing one handed now.

This app has direct urls for all the apps. Great app!
looks like he wants to submit it to the store (at least that's what it seems to me via google translator), can someone who speaks polish verify this? I don't want to waste one of the 10 apps allowed to deploy..

Try mine, it uses the Microsoft company apps deployment method, it doesn't count towards your 10 apps. It looks like ****, but it works. I'm hoping to include more soon besides nokia.
App is already submitted and try now new version of xap. It has more apps
@th0mas96: You *do* know you can remove apps (for example, once they are available in the store) to free up some of those 10 slots again, right? It's not like they're one-time-use or anything stupid like that.

yes I do, but I have quite a few that I use frequently that won't be available in the store, clocks with live tile or self-made "apps" that I use as a timetable - just a PivotView with TextBoxes in it, since that's more efficient than a real timetable app for me.
Just for the record this works with the proxy settings from reker's Everything At Once from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2400715. No need to run Fiddler.Install the app, open marketplace, close marketplace, configure proxy settings and open App OEM Update application. If an app is unavailable just back out try other stores and come back to it.

5 Apps to add functionality to the Note 10.1 2014

The Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition does a lot of things really well; Here are five apps that make it a better, more functional device;
1. GMD GestureControl: Definitely worth $4.99, makes the tablet way more user friendly, and gives you a more intuitive way to control your Note.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.goodmooddroid.gesturecontrol&hl=en
2.Dsploit: Gives you the ability to know more about your network, and do some pretty specific network admin stuff like deny certain people service, reroute everyone's internet traffic that is connected to your router to a site of your choosing, stuff like that. Check it out for yourself, but be aware that it is functional and does have features that may be legally and morally objectionable. (not a big deal, just needs to be said).
http://dsploit.net/
3. Clash of Clans: Free, and makes me happy I know, it doesn't add functionality, but I put it in the video anyway. (and if you remove this, you still get your 5 apps that add functionality!)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.supercell.clashofclans
4. XBMC: its the Xbox Media Center app, coupled with Navi-X lets you watch pretty much any movie out there, and even some that have yet to come out....
http://xbmc.org/download/
5. Wifi Analyzer: My most favorite app, because I'm always setting up someone's WiFi. It gives you a more fine tuned view of the surrounding wifi environment. It also lets you connect to wifi access points through the app (well, you can after you download another little free piece of the app).
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.farproc.wifi.analyzer&hl=en
6. Pry-Fi: free, but gives you a chance to donate. Changes your MAC address, but needs root; It actually works, however I've found that it only works with DutchDanny's custom BinDroid kernel (v003 is what I have it running on), at least on this tablet. It also changes your broadcast MAC address when your not on a network, and withholds your known SSID list from being broadcast. Pretty useful, eh, I think it is
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.pryfi
ps: my cat is always in my business, so I just let him do what he wants to do; that's why his foot is in the picture
Ok, so XBMC doesn't work properly on our device (SM-P600) because it needs hardware acceleration, but only the nightly build has that. So, I about to start a thread on how to get the nightly build of xbmc to run Navi-X.

[MOD] One Hand Zoom Enabler (Adobe Reader/Firefox)

The usual way to zoom in a webpage (/map/document etc.) is the two finger pinch in/out gesture. However since Android 4.4 there's the new Double-touch drag gesture (One-finger press, lift, one-finger press, move, lift) allowing to zoom using just one hand/finger. (Thanks to Google's AppCompat it also works with older versions of Android.)
This handy gestures is supported in Google Maps, Google Earth, Chrome, Gmail and some other apps. See the actual gesture on video.

Although supporting this gesture is no harder than switching from Holo to Material or writing 100 lines of code, plenty of top Play Store developers keep ignoring it (despite of my email requests). Both Mozilla Firefox (bug) and Adobe Acrobat Reader have over 100 million downloads from Play Store yet they are unable to support this feature.
Therefore here come Xposed to rescue. Initially I wanted to create universal solution but I no longer think something like that is doable because of custom double click detections etc. I started with Adobe Reader and Mozilla Firefox and managed to hack in support for this gesture using Xposed. So the currently supported apps are:
Adobe Reader 15.2.2, 15.3
Firefox 42.0, 43.0 & Nightly/Fennec 45.0
I intent to look into supporting other apps as well. Next in line are OpenStreetMap apps such as Osmand (bug), MAPS.ME and Scout.
Let me know if there are any other apps you'd like to have supported (maps, office/document viewers and editors). The current module version is limited to Android 4.4 and up.
This module has been merged into new module http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/mod-xposed-tweaks-cm-t3279109. Please check that module for any future updates.

Magic Tag Magic Tag lets you read tasks from and write tasks to a tag with ease. Tags can be placed in various locations so you can enable different modes quickly. Use this app with NFC tags to activate different profiles. Get a handful of NFC tags for about $10 from Amazon.

RecorderThe recorder app built into the Honor 8 is very simple to use. You have REC, Pause and Stop controls. Some recorders have a tendency to over complicate the process by adding too many additional features. The stock recorder here seems to strike a perfect balance.
ThemesCustomize your system down to the very last detail. The easy to use theme engine built into the Honor 8 gives you a bunch of possibilities from custom icons, wallpapers, animations, font styles and more. Mess around with it to create your own theme, or import themes from the Play store.
Phone ManagerThe phone manager is a very clever app that manages all sorts of activities on your phone. It will scan your system and close out of apps to keep your phone running at an optimal speed. You can also manage your harassment filters, white listed apps, pin locked apps, notifications and much more.

I like the steps counter.
The remote control app looks really useful but haven't tried it yet.
So far so good. These are useful apps (Atleast I think they are) Are there any bloatware?

The only "bloat" I found when I received my phone was apps that led to customer support, store page, and other Honor webpages. But these can be easily removed by uninstalling. Other than that there isn't much. There is this included Mirror app which I don't really find useful when I found just use the camera app as a mirror.
The remote control app is wonderful! It has more brands than I can count in an hour (no, I haven't tried). So far I have it set up to both the TV and the sattelite receiver. I think I'll try it on the floor fan next time.
