For me it's a really good bargain for its price.
Good hardware, & a lot of devs, -> incredible rom choice
Last OOS 3 are good too.
For battery life, depends on usage.

Unless you're getting it at a really cheap price, I'd suggest you look at something newer. The SD801 is full 2 generations old. There's most probably going to be at least some noticeable performance difference even with the current gen mid-range offerings with SD650/652 (all other factors like skinned UI, bloat, etc. being equal).
Plus Nougat has already been released, but no SD800/801 device will be getting it; they can only go upto MM. So OOS 3 is officially the end of the line for this device.
Having said that, I'm plenty satisfied with the device personally.
So you'll have to weigh what would be better for you

i will buy him about 140$ but the are a lot of phone with this price: xperia z3 compact , xperia z2 , galaxy s4 , htc one m7
i don't now what should i buy, all of them have a cm14 or aosp 7 so i don't worry about rom

The only area where the other phones you've listed surpass the OPX is the camera. And the screen size to a small extent, in case of the 5.2" Xperia Z2. Other than that, OPX should be good.

what about battery life i'm gamer specially the game with 60fps; in the test of gsmarena the battery life is really bad (54 hrs) before i have z3 compact (101 hrs) and he's nice so the battery life on OPX is bad is that true? and i don't like the biggest size like z2 1+1 and i hope the OPX is good in one hand

I find the OPX pretty comfortable to use with just one hand. And battery averages around 5hrs SOT for me, but I don't play games, so it may vary for you. My usage includes watching a lot of videos, and quite a lot of browsing.

I love my OPX! Sexy AF. I'm actually on the lookout for a second one. LMK if you find one for a decent price
I don't have huge hands, so this size of device is perfect for me. I like the fact that OnePlus caters to rooting and custom ROM's because I like to tinker.
- Battery: I was a little off-put by the battery life at first, but then I realized it was the OOS ROM. I moved to RR, and now I get over well over a day without having to charge. When its less than that, I know its some app messing with my life.
- ROM: go with CM13
- Camera: use Sultans HAL mod; I've never had any complaints with the picture or video quality
- Multitasking: the 3 GB RAM has always been more than enough for me
- OTG: a bit finicky, but it may have been the native app or my adapter. I use MiXplorer now and it works a charm
- I love the display. I have DPI set at 400 and black theme everywhere.
Other points:
- wireless charging would be nice, but for the price I'm not complaining!
- the tri-state notifications button is pretty useful.
IMHO this phone is by far the best in its class - I have owned a lot of phones. Now when I find myself considering a new phone, I compare it to my OPX and it doesn't come close.
I've had a few mishaps with it; but always been able to repair it.

Hi everyone, I have the OnePlus X and very happy with it, but in the back of my mind there's still that small issue that's it has last year specs, now gearbest has the Xiaomi Mi4c for £150, £30 cheaper then the OnePlus X, I just want to hear you opinion, if you would swap the X with the Mi4c, considering the that the Mi4c has up to date specs, IR blaster, better camera and a CM13 build already... Looking at this seems like a no brainer, but for some reason I still feel like I should stay with the X

Mi4c is like a polycarbinate OPX that runs faster and lasts longer. The only issue would be network support so check the bands first. I suggest you spend a little extra to get the 3/32GB version as no SD card is supported.

Runs faster where? You mean everyday life/use or the difference is only notable on heavy usage? And what about smoothness?

Xiaomi better HW, 1+X better OS(in US)
i do agree mi4c has better hw but opx will have better dev support in the long run. miui updates do come in on a weekly basis with their beta roms but lack in custom roms. Mi4c cm13 has bugs still and so as opx's cm13. do note that miui rom runs heavily as well. it all comes down to tuning in the end of the day really.
Yeah, I'll stay with the OPX for now, hopefully the dev support will continue, now that MasterAwesome has stopped developing for OPX =( he help loads with the progress of CM12.1, if the OPX has the same support has the original OPO, then yes, this will be totally worth it

Runs faster everywhere, especially in gaming and web browsing. Mi4c also has much faster internal NAND as Oneplus really cheaped out on emmc. It might not look like a flagship, but it sure runs like one. The 801 was beast in its day but it is two years old now. It isn't Armv8, doesn't support Open GL 3.1, isn't 64 bit, has slow storage... it is over a year behind the internals of Mi4c and its performance confirms this. Not to mention battery life is 40% better on the Mi4c. It has three ROMs out not to mention the entire MIUI community. It checks out as a better device unless you just care about looks. That goes to OPX.

I'm currently using CM12.1 (stable 3.0) by MasterAawesome. Also I have used Mi4c, its a good performer. In the end it's Oneplus X which feels way more luxurious in hand than Mi4c. Also dev support for O+X is on rise. MasterAwesome's build already running just fine, not to mention three are some things yet to be fixed. On other side O+X's kernel has been made public. WHICH leads to some serious kernel build for stock OxygenOS e.g. Blue_spark by know name here on XDA. I would definitely not hesitate recommending Oneplus X over Mi4c.

I own both I I can't say which one is the best.
It depends of your priority.
For heavy use and gaming, I would recommend Mi4c (if the 32Go are enought for your games / music....). Battery is really good.
For other use, I would recommand OPX. The screen is better. I find it more ergonomical or practical to use. Don't know why, it's just a felling. Battery is not bad at all. Dieep Idle, is good.
I can last around 2,5 days with a little use (airplane during night, gmail synchro and phone, something like 3H screen on on this period.)
There are others Pro / Cons : NFC / Tuner Radio....

It my moderately extensive battery testing, the OPX smoked the Mi4c (OPX best = 7 hours 51 minutes, while Mi4C best was 5 hours 30 minutes) in the web page refresh test, and matched the Mi4c in the video playback test (best score from both was 6 hours 45 minutes). Yes, this is not "real world" usage OST tests, but they are indicative.
Also note that Mi4c kernel has not been released and may never be released.
The hardware differences powerwise (SoC etc...), while measurable, is not something you'd ever notice in real life usage unless rendering video or compiling code.
Mi4c has a better camera, but will anyone notice if you're only posting on Facebook and in emails, eg digital sharing / not making big prints? Probably not. The IR remote is a real positive for Mi4c if you have devices you'd really use it with. For myself, the possibility of TF SD expansion with the OPX is a far bigger bonus than IR remote.
I'm not downing the Mi4c. It's a great choice, but in terms of day-to-day typical and most beyond typical usage, the benefits of the stronger SoC and better camera aren't enough to recommend it over the OPX with TF SD slot, already released kernel and likely much broader custom ROM support for the foreseeable future.
So I went completely different way xD, I ordered a Huawei P8, I saw one for £165 and went for it, I know that dev support is non existing, but with Android 6 already available, I decided to try it, the design seems impressive and reviews say wonders about the camera, very important for me, with 2 young kids, a good camera is important, OPX was not bad at all, but some detail is missing from the photos...
I'll probably keep the P8 for a week or 2 and then I'll move along

Please let me know how is this phone in real life? Many mixed reviews are confusing me. Also please understand that I live in Mongolia and when I purchase something from US it will take 3-4 weeks to get here and purchase is not good/faulty then impossible to return, so I have to be very careful.
My current phone is Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and it is dying. When I compare SGNote 3 and Oneplus X in GSMArena I see almost same specs such as Quad-core 2.3 GHz Krait 400, Adreno 330. I installed Cyanogenmod on my SGNote 3 when CM was available and still with CM ever since.
I want a phone with good battery life, good camera and good GPS, because I do lots of traveling, hiking, camping and taking outdoor pictures. But this time I can spend only $250-$350.
If software is only an issue on Oneplus X then how is it perform in CM? I've been using all my previous phones with CM, I have very good experience with CM, if all problems is related to Oxygen OS then I'm happy to install CM. But how stable is current CM?
My current choices are below, if you were me which one would you choose? Also if there are any other recommendation please let me know.
- Oneplus X (Good price, looks nice, to me small is really good, for one handed use in cycling, driving, hiking etc. But unknown to this brand and there are so many mixed reviews are scaring me, specs are outdated) $249
- Nexus 5X (Looks nice, smaller, fingerprint scanner but mixed reviews, medium spec) $349
- Nexus 6 (Water resistant, good reviews but discontinued, too big) $349

Why is your note 3 dying? Perhaps its better for you to buy a new battery (or other parts). Because in performance it will be almost the same.
My experience with opx is that it's the best < 140x70 mm with 5" device for me. Close followed is xiaomi mi4, but lack of amoled and design quality (aluminum trims) made me go for opx. My sot is stable around 6 hours with stock oos and root.
Mi4c has better battery life and better camera (when not tweaked). Mi5 has better hardware.
Huawei is an alternative too.
But both are less custom roms capable!
OPX has a tons of alternatives!
PS : it doesn't come from the US...
Well to be honest this OPX device maybe is not the best spec phone ever, but im my opinion for its price its a master piece, ther way it performs is absolutely great in every situation. From my view the important thing was to have a device with a good GPS, this phone is awesome at that, and of course, I wont use my phone to gaming but to work, that is the main point.
Everything depends on your necessities, mines are absolutely fulfilled with this phone.
Positive points are, overall performance and multitasking, its very fast 0 lag from my experience.
As negative I have some too, im honest, The gyroscope is not 100% precise, but nothing important just some little degrees.
And another point is that the back glass can get little scratches very easy.
I cant say nothign about that the gaming is bad cause I dont buy this device for gaming , instead of that I would have bough a gtx 970 for that purpose.
And the most important thing, and what for what I finallly decided to buy this phone, the magnificent team of independent developers, specially this community that bring us many possibilites and tweak our phones to be even more satisfied with them

Thank you guys for taking time to answers my questions to help me make my decision. I just ordered onyx OPX .
About my Note 3, last summer I have dropped it into the river. Technician said he fixed it but it is acting weirdly since then, specially last 2 months, such as randomly restarts, freezes etc, so annoying. And I'm starting to like small phones, after using my girlfriend's Galaxy S5, it is so easy to use when I'm in active situations

Totally different devices. Redmi 3 (any version) is budget device while Z5 (also compact) is premium model. Not comparable

I stand behind my answer. Redmi 3 is not bad device, but it is budget device in all aspects. Not comparable with Z line from Sony

Man, as others are saying R3 isn't comparable to Z5 Compact. R3 is budget friendly offering, while Z5 compact is high-end.
If you still wanna compare, let's see.
SoC - R3 Pro has SD616, while Z5 C has SD810. You know, 800 series of SD is high-end, while 600 is mid-end. Both are octa-cores, but Z5 has four A53 & four A57, while R3 Pro has all A53s. Also, clockspeed is low in R3 Pro.

Thank you for taking the time to respond! I realize that the Sony is better in almost every way, but what i'm honestly looking for is someone who has experienced both? The sony, owning it myself is not in my eyes a flagship, its above average. Sure it has a 820, but the most current fw is not the fastest it could be, this compared to my girlfriends Wileyswift Fox, a uk based phone maker, also a great value/cost device in my mind.
Camera, sure it takes great photos, but its sluggish in starting up, or taking rapid photos. And i'm not a big photo maker anyhow, occasional photo of my nieces or my dog or my girlfriend. So I don't really need THE GREATEST photos. You know?
So in that sense i'm very curious about this phone. If its comparable to the Fox one i'm going to be damn excited coupled with the 4100 battery. I am playing more games lately and i have been needing a powerbank. So thats would be a big up for me. How is the heat when it charges does anyone know?
Also curious about ROM support. From what i have read there appears to be some good support seeing as this is out longer then the 3S Pro. Only really read up on that device AFTER ordering the 3 Pro. Anyhow, couple of roms that I noticed were looking good.

About all the stuff you've written and asked, I would like to answer it in simple way -
You won't notice any much performance difference between the two phones. Forget SoC, forget RAM. If you need better camera go for Xperia Z5 P, if you need just a camera which takes grainy and noisy pictures indoors, go for Redmi 3 Pro. You can see, my only concern is camera. But wait, MIUI seems terrible to some users, some love it. While Xperia's UI is admired my many users, as it's closer to stock. Well, you're on XDA, so you might install a custom ROM. I hope, you got the idea. BTW, if I was you I would not spend 320$~ on Z5, as it really is overpriced. You can easily get Oneplus 3 or G4 Plus by adding more amount, if you don't care about big screen.
I've recently owned the z5c, z3c, lg g3, moto x play, z3 and now the redmi 3 pro. I prefer the redmi 3 pro. It's great value, performs well, has good mic and sound, amazing battery life, and runs very smooth. Not running marshmallow but it suits my needs. Runs everything perfectly. Provided it supports the band you need i don't think others are worth the excessive price. Z5c was not performing well, had poor battery life, and my call audio echoes. The only gripe with the r3p is the camera isn't the best.
Hi right now I have a Samsung s3 mini value edition (words cannot describe how bad it is), and I have a limited budget to buy a new phone. I can't get anywhere near enough for op3. I'm stuck between this and Moto G4 plus. I can only afford the 2gb ram Moto. Do you think it's worth spending the extra for this. Will the 2gb ram severely limit the Moto and will it be laggy. I've heard things about heating issues and cpu issues on this device, and support issues. Is the software support bad? Thanks
one plus 2 is great device, yes it has problem with heating coz of snapdragon 810.. but if root and install cm 14.1 nougat version, the problem is less.. how about xiaomi phone. is cheap and fast phone.. i suggest get redmi note 3... snapdragon 650 and 3g ram.. it also a lot of custom rom and development but the real problem is to unlock bootloader.. it quiet difficult

It all depends on your personal preference.
But if u are asking me to choose from one of the devices you mentioned above, oneplus 2 would be the most obvious choice reason being it was a flagship device, so its got a hell lot more support than the moto g4. For the other departments like Screen quality, build quality, battery life might equivalent in both the devices but oneplus excells in sheer performance, good looks, low light camera performance. On the other hand, fast charging, expandable storage faster android updates may be the + points in moto g4. And regarding heating, the oneplus heats up like any other phone under heavy loads, i mean its just normal. Both the devices go upto 42-44 degrees if u r playing MC5 for about an hour.
Apart from these two devices, i would like you to go with none of 'em but Xiaomi redmi note 3 pro (3gb ram version). Its an excellent device with almost every feature in it pocket and will cost you same as the moto g4. Super good performance (snapdragon 650 is a beast) along with beefy battery which can give u 6-7 hours of sot even with heavy usage. Its got pretty good development support (2gb ram version is however not popular among devs) and a highly durable build quality. Moto g4 is simply no match for this dragon and it surely surpasses oneplus two overall. The only con i see in rn3 is the camera is on the weaker side but still its captures well in ample lighting conditions.
OnePlus 2 wud be my 1st choice, using it since last 1 year and i can say the development section is quite good, battery is decent display and usage is very smooth with negligible lag.
There was some heating issue but could be controlled with custom kernels.(ohh come on after all it had SD810 proccr, a little bit of heat issue is acceptable )
Still a happy owner of OnePlus 2
Thanks for all the replies . Unfortunately it doesn't look I'll be able to get a xiaomi because they are hard to get from China. Looks like the op2 will be the best choice then. Does it get decent support and updates from oneplus? I'll probably end up with custom roms eventually but it would be nice to know that the legit support is good.
Oneplus will officially support op2 until August 2017 atleast. And for xiaomi, u can try getting it from online sites like gearbest etc. They ship worldwide.

for me... camera is poor on op2 because i use cm13. on oxygen camera is far better. im not foto guy.. so thats okay with me.

RN3 camera are worst comparing to OP2.. OP2 are more better in low light

Well, I haven't had software problems.
I come from a OnePlus9 pro and there I had more software problems. It would once crash and the screen would go black and couldn't be unlocked. I felt worse with the OP than I did with the Zenfone9.
Asus has updated my phone once every month. That in OnePlus did not happen to me.
In short, it depends on the personal experience of each one.
And if you can, go for the 16gb, but you will only have it black... I love red model! Snif...
I write to you from a black Zenfone9 16gb with the official beta of Android 13.
I would go for thisone over the 10T. OnePlus Software is just not good anymore. This fone is what OnePlus was onces.

Pretty much, the OP9 was the last OnePlus before they got fully merged into oppo. Check the OnePlus 10P/T forums here to see all the problems.
I came to this phone from OP 7T Pro, there are few things I don't like (the camera is not as great as I hoped and the bezels around the display are pretty huge, especially after coming from 7T Pro), but overall it is a great phone. The FP reader is the best I ever tried, it unlocks on instant, it cannot be any quicker, I love the small footprint, this is the main reason I went for this phone. I hate those huge 6.7"+ devices, I have short thumb. And all the small phones are usually low or mid tier, this one is a proper high tier phone, very smooth and fast.
The battery is also awesome, almost 2x better than my OP 7T Pro, which wasn't too bad either. And I'm using 120Hz and AoD, I'm getting 6+ SOT easily. With 7T Pro I was getting 3-4 hours SOT
SW wise it is great, as someone wrote before me, it is what OnePlus used to be. Clean Android experience with few extras. I didn't have any major bugs, just small details, but ASUS is nicely active on their support forum, we are reporting bugs and they are working on them.
I'm currently on the A13 beta and I haven't noticed any major issues so far, smooth experience, good for daily driver.
AND FINALLY the home gesture bug is GONE in A13! Now my Niagara Launcher experience is smooth.
But you cannot judge the phone based on the support forums, all you can find there are issues, right? Nobody is posting on forum about good experiences, people usually post only if they encounter any issue. And there are issues with every phone

Is this phone a good upgrade to the Pixel 5 ?
I've been satisfied with the pixel 5 in general - it feels great to hold, has good bezels, good camera and it's light.
Performance has been better than decent - for the apps and things I use it at least.
But still would like to have a snappier performance with the better chipset that the Zenfone 9 offers.
The only drawbacks I'm seeing with the new Asus Z 9 are the slightly thick bezels, it's weight, camera perf., and ROM development
As far as the camera goes - are the GCams giving any considerable improvements in the Z 9 ? The factory camera app is giving decent results but I think I like my Pixel 5 pics better from the comparisons that I'm seeing.
Also - what do you think ROM development would look like for this phone ? The love these phones get in the NA market is non-existent pretty much. And maybe Lineage will drop a ROM - but would like to see some ROMs dev. in the future.
I'm loving it so far. While I'm not enthused about the two years of updates instead of more, I am learning about ROM development and will post here when I can.

I have a Pixel 5, too, though currently as a backup. Performance is okay on that one, but I can't believe how much better 120 Hz on the ZP9 feels than the 90 Hz on P5. Battery life is also much better, too: P5 is 10-11%/hr screen on rate, ~1% screen off rate; ZP9 is ~8% screen on rate, ~0.8% screen off rate. (Accubattery)
If price isn't an obstacle, I'd recommend it.
I wouldn't change this phone for anything. I upgraded from Zenfone 8, as the one thing that was missing was a physical fingerprint reader (rather than the under-screen one).
The software experience also feels much smoother (stock) than what it was on Zenfone 8 (which I later rooted and flashed wtih LineageOS). I am content keeping this one stock.

The battery life on this phone is awesome, Im running with 4.5 hours screen time so far and 2 days stand by and I still have about 41% battery life.
performance is great, the camera is not bad, however those huge lenses do stick out like a sore thumb.
but overall if you can get this phone on special price, its well worth it.
