Replacement Note 7 Catches Fire ? - Note 7 Guides, News, & Discussion

I think that isn't even the first news of replacements doing the same.

1st one on a plane.

I checked my exchanged Note 7 box and it was very different from this. The black square was in a totally different place, the colour is described as "Black Onyx" on mine but on this one it just shows "Black" and the box looks like it is made from cheap cardboard. It says "Made in Korea" why doesn't is say "South Korea" or "Vietnam" which is more likely?
The guy immediately goes and buys an iPhone after the 'incident' The fire came from a powered down Note not connected by a cable, just as the plane was taxiing. This is yet another very suspicious story, if proved it's fake the fraudster will face a long time in jail for sure.

It might explain the difference I didn't know they come in such a crappy box if they are not direct from Samsung like mine.
But yeah this story still stinks. The guy went straight to The Verge, had a convenient photograph of the box which he handed to them, went an bought a new iPhone and took another flight. Amazing how all this panned out for him in such a small amount of time.

Im pretty sure that competition like crapple or other android manufacturs have been ading more salt to the case and take the chanse to bash Samsung and get a peace of the cake while same time making sammy lose face ....and some people will burn there phone for media attention. ..beside just google iphone battery explode and you will see many stories but media loves apple and hate the korian outsiders

I'm so mad at Samsung right now. I've been one of their number one fans since the Note 2 has come out. I have owned every note in the series since the Note 2. Including all the tablets. But after buying the international version on eBay with both eBay and Samsung refusing to give me a new one or refund I know I got the new update with this pop up on my screen and it's 60% power max.. pretty much my phone is useless because the pop up as soon as I cut it off it pops right back up within 60 Seconds. I've actually called Samsung 29 times in the last 6 weeks to ask for information on what to do and the furthest I got was they would get back in touch with me which they never do. Today is supervisor got on the phone with me and said that they can't do anything unless I bought a US variant. Which is not fair because I wanted the unlocked bootloader and the Exynos version... it shouldn't matter which version Note 7 I have and where I live or anything like that it is a mandatory recall for the whole world not just the United States yet Samsung says they can only return us not just the United States are Samsung says they can only return US phones... so I'm supposed to not use my phone not return it and just be happy and thrilled that I lost $980. And then after contacting eBay for the 15th time today they told me my 30 days are up so there's nothing they can do. I thought this was a mandatory recall if it's mandatory...then they should Mandatorily have to take it back

Edit: My suggestion is, since Samsung US will not exchange the unit, ask them for an address to ship it back to. Even if it means overseas.

Chinese-made Galaxy S II???

I just received my GS II (ordered from Amazon US) and found out the sticker inside the battery compartment says "Made in China"!! I was like, what the?? I thought the GS II was supposed to (still) be made in Korea!! The writing on the GS II box and the quick instruction manual are all in Spanish. The warranty card is also in Spanish and seems to be for Venezuela.
Anybody knows if there are any differences (specs, performance, quality, etc.) between the Korean and the Chinese GS II's? I'm afraid mine is a counterfeit/fake unit and is inferior to the Korean GS II's. And worst, there was no factory seal whatsoever (or any kind of seal for that matter) on my GS II packaging!! Should I be worried? Should I just return it to Amazon and get a full refund before I regret it?
Thanks in advance and sorry for rambling. Just being paranoid after shelling out such a chunk of $$$ and receiving something that's not what I'd thought/expected it would be.
Why do you even care? its still a Galaxy S 2
Mine says made in Korea by Samsung.
If yours was a fake surely they'd fake the label too to say made in Korea? Maybe some are made in china. I'd contact amazon if your worried, unlikely they'd sell fakes given the size of the company. Tell them you want a refund anyway cos all the stuff with it is in Spanish and you can't read it

Like I said, it's just me being paranoid. Did some research online and found out some people not being satisfied when they received the non-Korean made GS II.
Actually, it's not that I'm worried about my GS II being a counterfeit one. I'm afraid the Chinese-made ones are inferior to the Korean-made ones (in terms of spec, performance, quality, etc).
Thanks, though. Maybe I'm just worrying for no reason.
The build can be from Korea, China and Brazil, there is a thread about it. And soon they are going to start making them in Argentina, I think this is just assembling...
Mine is made in China as well and came from Chile, the phone is perfect as the SGS2 can be, nothing different other than being made in China.

Hahaha.... Naaah! Everything looks and appears the same as every other GS II I've seen online. Only difference is the sticker on the battery compartment says "Made in China/Hecho en China". No 2nd SIM card slot! Was just worrying for nothing, I guess.
Anyway, will try to power it up for the first time tonight after work. Hopefully my unit doesn't have the dreaded display problem of yellowish tint on the left side of the screen! Crossing my fingers :-\

The sticker appears kinda bland compared to the UK/EU version, doesn't it?
Looks like both cell phone and batt were manufactured in June 2011.
Mine was made in china also with June 2011 on it...but I'm extremely happy with it and no issues at all unlike the screen with yellow tint or something...even if it was fake, china did hell of a job making this phone...

Do you know that in China, if you have money and guts you can blueprint any device to the details and mass produce it legally as long as the name isn't branded yet.
This post made me look at my AT&T SGS2 box a while ago... Yeah, mine is also from China
At least as long as it says "Samsung" with the correct spelling, it is Samsung. Just the "Made in China" thing that bothers many people.

Box Seal Broken & Smudges

Like many pre-orders, I received mine on Thursday.
I was disappointed, however, that the seal has been broken and there were scuffles and smudges in the back near the camera.
Perhaps, mine was opened by US Customs to examine.
I'm wondering if there are many others out there who received their phones in similar condition.
Also, I couldn't find any headphones included. Is that right?

The serial number, hex and dec number on my box were different from the ones on my phone. I had all kinds of problems getting it activated until i pulled the back cover and saw different numbers. The tech support guy at sprint i was on the phone with said he has only seen that 1 or 2 times in the several years hes been there. Customs must have taken it out of the box and put it in another.
Yall are just the unlucky bastards.
1st guy... Probably did check Yours and the agent didn't give a crap.
2nd guy... Lol that is 100 percent the agent was a retard. My of broke it and put a different one in it.

Wow that really sucks....I hope you can get that replaced...or at least replace the top plastic.
i'd be madd pissed.
denggg.. so did the customs agents just randomly open boxes to check? i thought maybe they'd take one from each batch or just one period for investigation. rediculous.

Maybe the phone that was originally taken out - was NOT but back in, but they kept the packaging/labeling and threw in another phone? Hence the mismatch numbers. Just a guess Would probably be easier to open a box with no label and just put that phone in the labeled box.

All the phones I have ever had come with headphones (and micro SD too). Odd.
It's a $500-$600 phone, and doesn't include headphones. That's quite perturbing.

OG Evo didn't come with headphones either. Box. Phone. Charger.

My last 2 phones were the EVO, and the EVO 3D, neither of which came with headphones. The way I see it is the headphones that come with phones are usually pretty crappy and I'd rather have them spend that few cents on improving the build quality of the phone. They're most likely going to cut corners somewhere to pay for the headphones they include.

The Verge completely discounted the development potential and disregarded the fact that this is more of a dev toy than anything else. I think that once it's been opened up and the oh-so-wonderful things people will be able to do with it they will be sorry they didn't pick one up. Hell, I got one coming from ebay for $200. I think the manufacturing that went into this is well worth it.
Really, how long will it really be before someone has netflix/hulu running on this thing?? A couple months max maybe? Blue tooth game pad? Play games through Onlive with this thing?
I'm hoping to using this thing as a teaching instrument for myself. I've wanted to get into android dev and this device kicked straight in the ass to go for it!
I just bought my third. I've got one in my home office, one in the home theater, and one in the bedroom. I see the potential in this device. I bought one of Ebay for $193 including shipping. I couldn't pass it up at that price.

It looks like we won't even get a Nougat port from the S7 / S7 edge... I am really surprised that everyone returned their Note 7's. It would have been nice if we got Updates and ports but honestly I rather have my Note 7 then anything else. I use my Note 7 since the release and b.t.w it's a original and not a replacement Note and to this day it never acted up! And I don't any other Phone. I've been using it everyday what just is a proof that not every Note 7 was affected by this. I wonder what Samsung has to say in it's press conference today/tomorrow.

You People in North America have it difficult compared to us in Europe. I think you guys somehow have to activate a Phone for the line you gonna use it on or something not sure. But we just pop our Sim in any device we want to use and that's it. There wasn't even much talk about imei block in Germany. North American markets got carried away with the whole issue and made it something really big. Honestly if a imei block comes in place I'm gonna buy one of those boxes for flashing and unlocking samsung devices and change my imei simple as that. I even flew with mine. The Airline made a announcement about the Note 7 which surprised me honestly. They just told us to turn it off and not charge during the flight that's it. And the press conference earlier about the issues was so weird. Samsung and those 3 companies just repeating themselves. I remember seeing pictures of the battery that said there is not enough room and things get bent inside and touch each other. And btw. I'm not saying all is a lie! I just believe some units are affected and some are simply not. I am taking this issues seriously.

Here in Mexico everything 100%! not a single thing about capping batteries or blocking imei from networks, I have my silver titanium 2nd batch since 10th October, and very happy with it

Also have my note 7. Iam probably the only one left in africa who has one. How i wish i got custom roms and other mods too
I really want Nougat for Note7 seeing how fast the S7 is now with official Nougat. Jealous!
You know, it surprises me that the developers here would give up on this just because of 100 out of 2.5 million devices. You guys are the techies, you know better that samsung lied.

Yet, an iPhone kills someone, and another one explodes next to someone's face.... Where's the outrage? Where's the investigation? Where's the recall?

Don't just make statements. Africa is huge and you're not the only one who got hold of a Note 7.
