Is it possible to enable Dual SIM for Honor 7 india - Honor 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have Honor 7 - PLK-UL00IN - Indian version.
Dual SIM is not enabled in this version. I'm in a need of it now.
Is it possible to get it via a patch or some other thing without rooting ?

My suggestion is to debrand it and flash a fw of a region which have dual sim support.
And I am not sure if this will work

I am not sure but I saw an entry in build.prop which says dual sim= true or false.
You can search online for editing build.prop using adb (without root, think I read somewhere that it is possible) and give it a try but keep a backup and figure out a way in advancr to put the original build.prop back if something goes wrong.
Might work... You can also contact DigiGoon, an Indian honor 7 developer for confirmation or more information.

Switching it to true could make it work, but I will hold off and wait for someone to make a guide

Plz someone help to make indian version of honor 7 = plk-ul00 to dual sim. Honor lauched it in india as single sim devies but hardaware still support dual sim (as seen in build props ) they some how made 2nd sim in airplane mode also sim mangement option is not available in settings.
I think we should install firmware of other region with dual sim suppo but then also promblem of 2nd sim imei no remains

So far no one did a mod for honor 7 (indian variant) to work as dual sim

To get it done legally only Honor people can do it. Because our handsets came with single imiei no. If u unlocked 2nd sim but without having 2nd imei no, it is crime in india

I forgot about IMEI, it may not work without a second one being present

I think we should request for dual sim support @ authorised sevice centers and Compony people.
Also somewhere on net I read about tools for enabling imei no. But that was for mtk (mediatek)devises which has much devlopment support .I dont know about honor/ huwei/kirin how to do it but there are ways too.we need somewone who is familiar with emui/kirin processors to do it

For now, we can't do anything about enabling dual sim on honor 7

But I'm locked inside 5X because of the Dual SIM support

It's a tough decision to which you'll use as daily driver, take 5x

Already riding on 5X. Hoping for a change soon.

I am waiting for my new device to arrive

I dont understand logic of honor people behind launching devices in some regions with blocked 2nd sim by software and in some regions with dual activ
Where as we pay as much price same, lets we deciide how to use the phone but they block 2nd sim tray.Again launched honor 8 and honor 8 smart with same condition
Pathetic

Seems that each region has their own preference.
In some region there is no proper OS update. But they release dual sim variant.
In some region they don't enable VoLTE. If required they are enabling it after some months.
In some region they give excessive bloatwares.
In some region they give 2 years commitment.
Its not the same all over the world. Sad to see this state

Can I unlock the band after rebrand a China version to international version?

As title.
You mean frequcy bands ?
All devices are comes with same bands but due to some regions sepertion, they are locked.
Rebranding will helps u. In my case i got honor 8, which in some region i got volte bands.in other rwgions they are absent
You can but I wouldn't recommend it. As the Chinese release of the Honor 9 uses slightly different hardware that is used in both the EU and US release of the device.

Mate 10 ALP-AL00

Hi, was looking at the Mate 10 ALP-AL00 as it appears to be available now by resellers. Can anyone confirm if the bands on this Chinese model are sufficient for Europe? And any other potential issues? Thanks.
I think that is Chinese, I believe the international is L29.

Yes, since AL00 has even more bands supported than ALP-L29 (version that will be sold in Spain, for example).
See bellow Mate 10 ALP-L29 (Huawei Alps) vs. Mate 10 ALP-AL00 (Huawei Alps) Frequency Band Comparison
https://www.frequencycheck.com/comp...-mate-10-dual-sim-td-lte-alp-al00-huawei-alps
The only hiccup you get with buying Mate 10 ALP-AL00 (Huawei Alps / China) is that although it does include English language there will be few parts in EMUI that are not fully translated therefore re-branding will be necessary (see link bellow for the rebranding tool and info) to have it without any chinese language leftovers throughout the system. After re-branding is done your phone will "act" like the ALP-L29 version with all OTA's and everything working

Did you have opportunity to check if dual sim is active or it is only standby?
Can you you be more specific? When you say that parts of the OS will still be in Chinese are you referring to system files that the average user will not be using and doesn't need to care about or part of the user interface that will be interacted with regularly or occasionally.
Why!!!
I bought a ALP-AL00 like it says in the box and in the cellphone itself.... I bought that version because of de 6Gb RAM and 128Gb ROM... BUUUUUUT... The firmware says it is ALP-L29.... I checked de imeis and both are the same that is shwon in tthe box.... Why?????

Unless you are in China, that is actually a good thing... AL00s are models for Chinese market, with different software and no Google apps. The fact that it say inside the phone software that it is L29 model means it has been rebranded to international software, with fully translated apps, Google apps and international OTAs

i would recommend to rebrand to bla29 aka the international version, but only possible via funkyhuawei so it will cost you 31 US $
Thanks that I Will do now just to choose The right firmware.
I think so it's more than 31$ because my boot loader is locked.
So, I'm seriously torn between which Mate 10 I want, the ALP-AL00 or the ALP-L29. The L29 would cost be about $600, where the AL00 would hit me for about $840.
I feel like I'm not a super power user so I wouldn't notice any kind of a difference between 4gb and 6gb, but at the same time I want the best.
I have a Mate 10 AL00
I rebranded my phone to L29
Will the LTE bands on my phone work like AL00 or L29?
I own an alp-al00 6gb version which is Only availble in china. Installed all the google stuff easily. And if you change the language its all English.

Yes if you are in eu you need to rebrand to c432 because the problem it's only for Europe huawei still didn't added eu country's to the list for associate the phone services with huawei ID that's why in the rest of countries in the world they don't have this problem With notifications with cn version of huawei devices
I had a honor v9 and I had the same problems In Spain then I rebranded to c432 and any more problems with notifications before that I need to have opened the apps for recive notifications

Huawei Mate 10 Pro BLA-A09 or the Huawei Mate 10 ALP-L29 International version

I've been reading various threads to determine if it's better to get the US or International version of the Mate 10 or 10 Pro
Is there a difference with unlocking the bootloader for the US/non-US versions?
Based on what I've read it seems to be more difficult to unlock/root etc the US version.
The Mate 10 specs claim that you can increase the storage via SD card in the Sim slot, but I checked a few Amazon verified purchases that claim there is no SD card via sim.
Lastly, I'm curious about ROM/Mod support, it seems pretty thin.
I'd like to install Magisk and possibly the ElementalX kernel. I typically install monthly security patches, but once I'm satisfied with performance, stability, and battery life I usually leave the phone as is.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
You are much better off buying a BLA-L29 and rebranding it as a BLA-A09 so it will work with VoLTE in the US on T-MOBILE and AT&T. If you try to do anything with a BLA-A09, you will likely end up bricking it. You can't force a dual SIM even though a dual SIM holder fits in the BLA-A09 and no memory card support.
Doing it the BLA-L29 way, you get the dual SIM and it actually works on the US rebranded.
That's my recommendation. I signed up for Funkyhuawei club to do everything.
Hope this is helpful.
I do prefer the P20 Pro over the Mate 10 Pro though.
Good luck.

OK, to make sure I understand this - BLA-A09 is US version, BLA-L29 is non- US. The BLA-A09 does NOT support dual SIM?
Rebranding ensures the phone works better on T-Moble (I use project Fi); what about APN settings - do they have to be tweaked to work with T-Mobile?
The ability to add storage is pretty important to me, so I was focusing on the Mate 10 over the Pro, if I'm correct, the pros sim slot does not support an SD card, but the Mate 10 does.
I assume rebranding is also important if I get the Mate 10 (not pro)
Have you tried to use the phone with Android auto? I've heard it doesnt work, and that the bluetooth connectivity is also dodgy.
Im reading Funkyhuawei on XDA now, thanks

APN should just come over naturally. But if you do not need a 2nd SIM, you actually are better off with the US version only because the cellular radio on the us version, the A09 is tweaked slightly better to pick up the US cellular better BUT software updates are like never on the US version or last in line. So it's kind of a toss up. I don't have connection issues with my P20 or my mate 10 and they are both Europe versions and I'm on T-MO. And P20 Pro does not support memory card either...
Sent from my CLT-L29 using Tapatalk
Also the L29 Version has more LTE bands so you need to compare those as well.
I was on the fence on these two models as well but pretty much decided the L29 was best cause if updates. I wish by now the A09 wasn't last in line as claimed (unless something has recently changed) I'm not really sure though but hearing about better cellular reception or stronger on the A09 makes me wonder if the L29 can be flashed with equal as to the A09 but again who knows.
I haven't purchased one yet as I need to sell 2 phones I have now first.

I found the Huawei Mate 10 ALP-AL00 128 GB unlocked for $575 with shipping, no tax. It will take up to 2 weeks for delivery via USPS, thanks for your advice.
Just be aware that only the A09 will have a warranty in the US. None of the international models or variants have warranty coverage of any kind when sold in the US (and they can tell what the phone originally was by the imei and serial number). Amazon sells the A09 and the L29 models (either one you can get pretty quick).

If you rebranded an L29 to an A09 you "should" get the A09 updates, there is an issue with the IMEI though as updates verify that number so an L29 rebranded to an A09 "might not get any updates as it would still have L29 IMEI numbers (not an expert on that though). With the lack of any warranty on L29 devices in the US unless you absolutely have to have dual SIM capability I would just get the A09 model.

does the M20P support hd voice and volte in calls ?

According to PDADB, the phone CAN do this...for both CN and Global versions 128/256:
http://phonedb.net/index.php?m=devi..._128gb_lya-lx9__lya-l29__lya-l0c__huawei_laya
I believe Huawei firmware HIDES the toggle of voLTE by default...but should work automatically when your device is connected over 4G LTE. My limited understanding is - by default it's already enabled, as its dependent on your location and carrier, too.
So, if you think it requires activating, which i don't think is the case, here's what P10 users did:
https://www.solvemix.com/index.php/android-smartphones/1778-huawei-p10-volte-making-calls-solved
If for whatever reason you think it's NOT activated or not working and want to visually SEE the toggle (and enable if disabled) then the following process requires ROOT access which you current'y don't have on your phone, unless you have a chinese ROM:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aUfmiDBPczw&t=6s
There, you can use an app like ES File Explorer and add a line of code in the BUILD.PROP file...It worked perfectly fine on my P10+ and my "VoLTE Calls" setting now shows and was automatically switched to ON.

If this response was in relation to my Optus question, thank you, but I'm not sure how that topic that refers to T-Mobile US relates Optus AU.... I have actually been following that thread and in my opinion M20Pro VoLTE won't work in US due to the carriers not supporting Mate 20 Pro full stop.
VoLTE is still not a defined standard hence carriers must enable specific devices for VoLTE and a device often must have carrier specific firmware on the phone for it to work. I assume VoLTE does work with Optus since they are offering the phone but hoping for confirmation.
To be more specific, I'm looking to purchase a Mate 20 Pro soon. I'd rather buy from JB Hi-Fi for the (hopefully) speedier firmware updates direct from Huawei but if VoLTE is confirmed working with Optus, and the only way to get VoLTE working is via purchasing the phone from Optus, then I would do that.

Hi ero,
This is just in response to some of the general questions in this thread.
What is Optus anyway?
Oh ok it's an Australian phone retailer.
Yeah that would be awesome if you could do that. Good luck man!!
Unless the Dual SIM has T-Mobile VoLTE, I'm screwed if I want the Mate 20 Pro though! lol Just sux. Part of me wants to say F it and just get it anyway, but not having access to like Band 12 sux. My area (Chicagoland) is about to get Band 71 as well from T-Mobile, and of course these phones don't have that either. FML! lol

I'm in Chicago on T-Mobile (via MintSim) and Volte is not currently working on my Mate 20 Pro. But I also have a P20 Pro (which like the Mate 20 Pro isn't sold or supported in the USA) and Volte works fine on that phone with the same sim card. I had a similar issue with the Mix 2 (Volte) and Mix 2S (no Volte) but on Xiaomi phones there is a way to force enable Volte by entering a dial code. There doesn't appear to be anything similar with Huawei, unfortunately.

I had a similar issue with the Mix 2 (Volte) and Mix 2S (no Volte) but on Xiaomi phones there is a way to force enable Volte by entering a dial code. There doesn't appear to be anything similar with Huawei, unfortunately.

Man, how many subsidiaries does T-Mobile have now?? lol They just bought Metro PCS too (now it will be called T-Mobile "Metro").
Yeah I just verified in the T-Mobile forum that the L29 Dual SIM ALSO DOESN'T have VoLTE either on T-Mobile. F'ing sux!!
Yeah I had verified last week that the P20 Pro has it on T-Mobile, but at this point I'd prefer to have the newer model, or just wait until the P30 Pro comes out next spring. Hopefully THAT has VoLTE AND Band 71 too!!!
I'm so tired of having to always check on this for unlocked phones. It just ends up limiting my options, which I really DON'T appreciate, at all.
Really? Wow. I WISH Sony and Huawei had that force enable code for VoLTE too. That would be awesome! I've noticed (and confirmed) that all 2018 locked phones from T-Mobile still have VoLTE, but it's been removed from the settings and "baked" in, so you can't turn it off. Of course you can still make a call and verify you have it as the call of course stays in 4G LTE the entire time. But yeah.........that's the story with the S9+ which my cousin has, the OnePlus 6T which I just bought from them. I was about to complain to T-Mobile lol but then I saw something on their site that explained all that.
I just really resent that I have to choose between the #1 camera phone and if I want great reception or not on my phone. It shouldn't be that way. Not fair at all. And I know it's all b/c our government thinks they and ZTE are spying on us. But I simply haven't seen enough proof to verify any of that.
No VoLTE support from Telstra in Australia either. I had it enabled on on my Pixel XL (stock unbranded firmware), which is the same sim card that is now in my Mate 20 Pro, but yeah no dice! Telstra has a list of mobiles that they currently support but it's only phones that they currently sell.
Apple iPhone 6 onwards, Apple Watch 3 onwards
Samsung Galaxy devices, S7 onwards, Note 5 onwards, A5 onwards
Google Pixel devices
LG devices G5 onwards
Telstra Signature Premium & Enhanced devices
Sony devices Xperia Z5 onwards
So I really have my doubts whether they will ever support Huawei phones. Which is really annoying because I was just starting to really love RCS messaging on my Pixel.

TMobile doesn't own MintSim. MintSim is a budget MVNO that pays for use of the TMobile network. I don't really think TMobile is blocking access to Volte for the Mate 20 Pro for political reasons either or they would have done the same thing to the P20 Pro. The fake controversy involving our president and Huawei happened before the Mate 10 came out and there's no question that it was politically motivated nonsense or Canada, the United Kingdom and all of Europe wouldn't allow Huawei phones to be sold by any carrier in the country who wants to offer them.
OnePlus and Blue are the only Chinese phone brands that have ever been caught putting spyware on phones sold in the United States. One Plus has been caught multiple times. Do you see any action being taken against either brand by the White House?
Volte compatibility with TMobile could be fixed in a software update from Huawei but since they are no longer selling their phones here I wouldn't count on it.

Oh ok. Yeah I don't know what the real story is. Maybe Huawei got the P20 Pro certified but decided not to do it for the Mate 20 Pro cuz it lost confidence in it selling well in the U.S.?
No I haven't seen any action. Only Huawei & ZTE have been named. And then I read that ZTE paid Trump $500 million as an investment in some new hotel resort he's opening up IN CHINA and then suddenly after that he decided they were no longer a threat. lol F'ing politics!!
Yeah I don't think the Mate 20 Pro will EVER get that update. lol So for now I'll happily keep my T-Mo OnePlus 6T with modded GCam app (aka same software used on the Pixel phones) and see what Huawei (and Sony) do in 2019.
This comparison vid is interesting.
To me, it seems that the Pixel 3 is better for daytime shots and tends to be seemingly more color accurate as well, while the Mate 20 Pro wins out for night shots. But Pixel 3 has a ****ty battery and I'm not big on its looks, and the Mate 20 Pro.............no VoLTE no access to Band 12 during calls, and also no Band 71. Such BS!!

Pixel phones have terrible build quality and lots of problems you mostly don't find out about unless you go to the official Google Pixel Support Site. They cost twice what they should at launch. I would steer clear of Pixel Phones or at least go to the official Google site and read owner comments. Owners are frequently shocked by the poor quality and many serious issues since they read nothing but fantastic things in places like XDA and Android Authority.
I learned this the hard way personally after having been a huge Nexus fan but the Pixel Phones feel much less premium than the Nexus phones in terms of build quality and design and list for twice as much.
The Pixel XL ran so hot Google support strongly suggested using it without a case and the phones suffered in very large numbers from permanent hardware failure dubbed the black screen of death which was comparable to the bootloop of death on the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P.
XDA, Android Authority and Android Police have never written a single word about those problems.
The Pixel 2 had a problem from launch where taking pictures would crash the phone, requiring a reboot. XDA, Android Authority and Android Police didn't write about the problem until 8 months after launch--when Google officially acknowledged the issue and released a software fix.
The oleophobic screen coating on the Pixel 2XL display (which is what prevents oil smudges and difficult to clean fingerprints on smartphone displays) started to wear off after less than 6 months of use. I have never owned any phone where that ever happened and the Pixel 2XL is supposedly a $1000 premium phone.
Those are only a few examples.

Yeah I won't buy Pixel ever I think. I have a friend who bought the 3 XL and returned it b/c he said battery life was awful. GSM Arena confirmed this on at least the 3 (69 hours, ouch!).
I've heard some bad things about the Pixels, but WOW! You have really opened my eyes here jhs! Thank you for sharing this information.
I will just continue to use my new T-Mo 6T with GCam mod. I'm very happy with the phone overall! Next year I will very likely (though not def) upgrade to either the Huawei P30 Pro, or else any of the following are possible: Sony Xperia XZ4 Premium, Samsung S10+, maybe iPhone too, or else OnePlus 7. We shall see. Right now I'm siding towards the P30 Pro.
I WOULD'VE prob bought the Mate 20 Pro if it had T-Mo VoLTE (it doesn't, unlike older P20 Pro) and preferably also Band 71, which T-Mobile is about to deploy all over Chicagoland (where I live) by year's end.

Question Does the S23 ULTRA support DUAL SIM DUAL ACTIVE (DSDA)

Hello,
The Snapdragon 8 gen 2 is supporting DUAL SIM DUAL ACTIVE (DSDA) . The question is the galaxy s23 ultra have that feature ?
if not , why ? and how to enable it .
Thank you
Qualcomm said that S23 series supports DSDA only in Chinese market with model number SM-S9180

Thanks for the reply. Do you have link for more details ? also, if I change the firmware (CSC) TO China do you think it will work since they have have same (SOC) and 5g modem chipset ?
There are EU regions with dual-SIM enabled for the S23 series. I would suggest trying one of those first.

They are same Hardware but verry different firmware and not interchangeable by CSC and you can't just flash Chinese firmware on any other device unfortunately
Feature was mentioned here in Qualcomm news letter

Seeing how that person is in Pasadena, CA, I question if it has to be the Chinese model.
It's stupid if Samsung doesn't support DSDA but I guess at the end of the day, it doesn't really affect me, as I use one SIM for calls and text and the other for data.
Through Odin, the firmware might be interchangeable. We just don't know yet because not many of us have our devices. What made conversions more challenging in the past with Samsung devices, was the different hardware. We don't have that here for most of the world.now. The Chinese version will not have eSIM capabilities because eSIM is illegal in China. We're probably going to be waiting on a custom ROM or combination ROM to get DSDA or DSDS for pSIM's enabled on North American versions, if the pins are there. From what I have heard, they should be. My eyes aren't good enough to see in side.of.my T-Mobile version to tell though and there is no place to buy a replacement dual-SIM tray in green yet to even see what happens when a second pSIM is inserted in slot 2.
With OnePlus, converting a device to another region or firmware, like with my 8T and 7 Pro, was fairly easy. However, OnePlus/OPPO cracked down on this and removed the second set of SIM pins making dual-SIM on North American models impossible.

Yup, There is a complete thread on S22U forum with hundreds of trials but no Success
How to flash a different model firmware (i.e. SM908E onto a phone currently running SM9080)

Interesting. This year though, no Exynos might be the game changer. EU firmware tends to be a lot more friendly for North American use from my experiences flashing OnePlus devices. This is my first Samsung since the Note 9 though. Definitely looking forward to some flashing goodness once developers start taking an interest in the S23 devices.
Edit: T-Mobile should get me my SIM unlock by launch day so I am definitely interested in trying once the SIM lock is gone on my device.
I'm glad that I was linked this article before buying an S23. Might pick up the Oneplus 11 5G instead.

It is also region dependent on one plus 11 you have to get Chinese version & unfortunately this year Chinese oneplus 11 units are region locked & cant make phone calls outside china
I want to know why DSDA is being limited to only China. Seems stupid to me.
