how to achieve continuous 30fps recording for video in low light? - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Questions & Answers

how to achieve continuous 30fps recording for video in low light? This seemed to be a problem with HTC devices and on CM custom roms for other devices. In my experience, only Samsung provides continuous 30fps video recording out of the box in low light.
The frame rate drops in low light to about 16fps. I tried with third party apps such as snap camera.
Any solution for this? I want footage to be recorded at stable 30fps even in low light.
P.S. I am on MIUI 6.9.29 stock rom

[Q] Best Videocamera App for Samsung Galaxy K Zoom

Hi,
I also have a Samsung K-Zoom SM-C115 and wanted to know, what is the best Videocamera app where I
can adjust the brightness or contrast in the 1920x1080 video recording modes ?
As the normal camera app has 1080p 30 Hz and 1080p60Hz mode,
I tried to see, how I can optimize these modes., so I can also record in low light conditions
with it, like at a concert or outdoor in the evenings..
Although in picture mode you have a nightshot mode, these are not available in the video modes and
you can not control the video brightness..
So is there any solution for this in maybe a Lollipop ROM version or do you know a videocamera app that
fixes this ?
I have already tried the Apps "A better Camera" and "CameraMX" but both have also problems...
They are able to do realtime video processing during recording so you can brighthen up the
video during recording, but somehow the zoom is then not really working and other bugs...
So is there any other real good solution to this ? Any videocam app that is better than these ?
Many thanks.
Regards, Stefan.
Or is there a Lollipop Android 5.x Rom already out that fixes these camera problems ? Many thanks.
Take a look at Cinema FV-5 https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.flavionet.android.cinema.pro
It has manual controls, and volume rocker can be configured for zoom.
Personally I find the stock app full-auto "good enough" for most of my casual videography.

Serius Camera Bug on Xiaomi Device

I am mainly a cinematographer and I need a video camera all time with me. Mobile phone does lots of everyday work for me but after I bought Xiaomi Redmi Note 2, I couldn't use this video camera app -_- if light is little bit low then it will drop the frame. I tried different third party app like google camera, Open camera, Cinema FV-5 and more but same result. Everything is fine but the fps is droping....
Sometimes it was 9/10/15 fps
Btw, If i shoot anything with slow motion then it took constant 30 FPS. but with normal mode no solution... even with front camera. I tried lots of rom but the result is same. Even I tried some different Redmi Note 2, mi4i, Redmi Note 3 Device same thing happened
But, only Camera MX can shoot properly 30 fps. and if I modify the media profile it only affect Camera MX app. All other camera app is not affected. And off course I can see this low fps problem mainly occurred on low light (indoor, car etc...)
I can see some bug report about this issue with some different Xiaomi product from last year but I don't know why Xiaomi didn't took notice. Any Idea how to fix this frame rate drop issue ?
Thank You.
Only media_profiles with 30fps setting and 3rd party apps, like Camera MX, Better Camera, Cinema FV. You must try.
But, with these U lose PDAF focus in camera.
Original app is good, but not for video.. It drops FPS to 15 when low light.. We cant set the constant 30FPS value

Thanks for your reply. I modified media_profiles with 30 fps, even i set minimum fps to 30 but without Camera MX other camera app use 15/12 fps at low light. It always tried to enhance low light image quality, but I don't have any problem with low light but need constant fps. I use google camera, open camera, cinema FV5 but each of them ignoring media_profile minimum fps command.
Any suitable rom with constant fps ?

Camera issues on my z7 (NX506J). anyone else have these?

Hey guys. As you can read in the title its about some problems i ran into when using the camera. Using the official v3.88 rom btw
For example
Video recording
4k records in laggy 15 fps in good light, 11 fps low light
1080p records 24 fps in good light, 11 fps in low light
For 720p its the same as 1080p
Photography
I have focusing issues when using automatic mode on macro and/or close up shots. Camera tries to focus, then focuses beyond the sweet spot (meaning its sharp but it still adjust focus beyond that so it gets blurry again), and then it jumps back to what the focus was before. Happens very rarely that it stops the focus where it should be to get a good picture.
Now for low light and complete dark conditions using the led flash.
The focus issues here here are similar to the previous macro/close up issue.
Example scenario: complete dark room, camera with flash led enabled. Now when i try to take a picture using the shutter button (not onscreen one as this just shoots without attempting to focus at all), the led turns on, camera tries to focus, led turns off after focusing, focusing indicator appears again somehow (orange square), now i press the shutter down completely, it takes the picture and it comes out really blurry as it resets the focus right to where it was at the beginning (thats what similar to the macro shots).
Does anyone of u guys have these problem on the same rom (v3.88)?
Do any Mini and Max users here have similar issues?
If u have time pls try out the things mentioned above (video and photography pls) and post your results if you have the same issues or similar things happening to you.
Anyone?
Guys, pls. Already 170 views and nobody answered. This goes to anyone. Max, mini and normal z7 users. Pls tell me about if u have got camera issues or not on the latest available stock rom on your phone
I'm having the same problems with videorecording, low FPS in low light, like 10-20. Im using Resurrection Remix 7.1.1 though, i dont rememeber if this happened with the stock version i had (3.84). Have you found any fix to this?
Edit: i´ve found a workaround for the low FPS in low light. You have to set the "exposure" setting to -2, it will make the video darker but you will get a stable framerate.

Thank you for responding. Yeah i know its due to exposure being too aggressive while video recording. What about taking pictures in low light (or even in a completely dark room) with led flash on? Does it focus correctly and captures a sharp image or does it kinda reset the focus after led turns off and gives u a blurry result?
And what about 4k video recording. Does it give you stable 30 fps in good light conditions? I know mine didnt.

What is best video options for different recording types

I want to ask something about some different video recording situations
What is best video recording options for wide angle video output (quality, stabilisation fps etc...)
What is best video recording options for normal angle video output (quality, stabilisation fps etc...)
What is best video recording options for X3 zoom video output (quality, stabilisation fps etc...)
I see not so many video options but you know what I mean, it's resolution.
Resolution changes the field of view output of video.
What are your settings and why are you using that for different situations.
Shine my dark road with your light of wisdom
I use :
- 1080p 30fps : when I film in a regular way such as filming landscapes, or filming things I don't intend to put an emphasis on
- 1080 60fps : I use this more when I have "living" subject on my frame, such as filming my friends laughing or doing whatever they are up to. The idea is to be able to apply a little slow motion in post to emphasize some moments.
- 120fps : that option is on the slo-mo options. I only use that feature in great lighting and if I intend to create a more dramatic look to the moving subject I wish to apply a slow mo on. But I rarely use that feature since I don't have much opportunity to capture fast moving subject.
I recommend using the Pro mode for video since you can control the focus. (Manual focus, autofocus, focus lock)
Your camera settings depends on what you want to shoot. You will have to play around with all of them and well switch from a mode to another depending on the situation.
30fps provide better image quality
60fps is smoother but somehow less sharp in some situation
120fps don't use it if you don't have enough light otherwise you'll end up with a blurry not sharp not good looking slo-mo.
There are 3rd app such as FilmicPro that gives you more freedom with the camera settings. But I don't use them since I haven't found one that take advantage of the 3 lenses that comes with the Mate 20 Pro. So now I deal with the stock camera in Pro mode.
Hope it helps
This helps a lot. Thanks for posting details.

60 FPS Video Recording stutter issue

I just got my Galaxy S10 Lite, and i tried 4k 60fps video recording, it seems stutter a lot or fps drop when i'm pointing to the dark areas, same thing with 1080p 60fps, but when i tried 60 fps recording with front camera there's no stutter. In mean time i will stick with 30fps recording until it fix.
Anyone experience this? I hope samsung fix this in the next patch.
