If anyone is interested in being involved in a group buy please post here.
Each 1GB RAM module is $18, shipping to the UK is $49, the idea is to get as many people as possible to reduce the shipping price to the UK, so for example, 10 people will reduce shipping to $4.9 each, for a total of $40.9.
I would then send 2 modules to each individual so shipping from the UK would then be added on top, for Europe I can send for about $7.3, so that means 2GB RAM for $47.2, the US or Australia may be a little more, but it will still be far cheaper than buying individually.
Post if you are in, you will need to be able to solder the BGA yourself or get an expert to do it for you, so you may want to get a price for the work.

Do we have details of the MTCD RAM chips and equivalent 2gb? I couldnt see that from the posts - also do we know if these are equivalents for MTCD?

No, this is just for MTCB/C. I would speak to other MTCD owners about RAM for those units.

I asked Felix for a better shipping price. When he writes back, I will tell you if I join your order.
Maybe if more people join, Felix can make us also a better price for the ram chips.

Ok, yes ask for 3 sets - @CARRisma wants some as well and as they are so light weight I do not think the postage would be any different if you bought 3 sets.

Hi,
I'm interested too. So you can add me for a futur order
For information, i'm from France and i have a MTCC KLD6 (no branded)
Thanks.

The idea was myself or @Oberbergler buys from the German importer and then distributes them amongst everyone wherever in the world they are. I m happy to get a price for UK to New Zealand postage, I dont think it will be much more. I think it may be a while before you get enough people together who are all in NZ.

Felix wrote back that IM could ship with DHL, UPS or FedEx. FedEx will cost 49 USD, for the other couriers i have no info.
If now so many people join the order I am also in

It's very easy to determine that.
Just take a look at your SoM memory chips (or to an existing MTCD SoM picture) and compare them with the picture attached to post #1723.
If your memory is SK Hynix H5TQ4G63AFR-PBC then the replacement is the IM memory described in post #1669.

There is not SoM in MTCD units, AFAIK its all mounted directly to the MB. Its easy to establish the RAM type - just look at a photo, I ve seen one in the MTCD forums.

Looks like I'm the only one in South Africa. I've got 2 head units so I've ordered 4pcs from Hong Kong. Felix is delivering to a friend of mine in China for USD15 and he'll send it to me for free. I know postage from Europe to SA is expensive anyway so this seamed like my best option. I'll post in the original forum when it arrives and my installation experience...

whys that cus of VAT? ifso your VAT is returned to you upon dispatch
maybe its not cause of vat, cause i noticed xperia is listed as 419 pounds and this is listed as 519. if that is vat, all the others i checked price with took vat off before asking for payment, this one isn't doing that.
I noticed they put the price up on their site to £519.99, my email receipt when I ordered said £499.99, anyone know if the new price will charged for existing orders or is that just for new orders now? I'm pretty sure someone mentioned that Gum charge on order and not dispatch so I'm presuming that I'll only be charged £499.99. If they decide to do me for the extra £20 without informing me before they do though, I'll be severely annoyed.

no u wont be charged more, u pay for the price at the time of your order, they ovsly upped it due to high demand and its almost matching a few other retailers prices. So ya got it at the best time!
They just emailed to say VAT will be removed upon shipping. How much is VAT? 20?
If they're in stock now, do you think it's possible for it to be delivered by end of next week?
I might go this route and cancel Clove considering the price is about the same.
Any thoughts?

I preordered yesterday evening at 22.
I emailed them asking if I was included in the first batch of expetidion, their answer was that I was, but only if I preordered in the same evening.
By the way you can read on their site that they paid a special courier to leave on saturday, with the arrival of the expeditions on tuesday.
below is the email they sent to me
Hi,
The previous price was a special pre-order price with a free pouch which has now ended
Yes we refund the VAT back after the order has been shipped and it takes about 1-3 days to go back on your card.
Yes we will ship on Satruday but please not there is a bank Holiday in our country on Monday which may slightly slow the shipment on that day.
It’s the Tegra 2 model and we have no confirmation of NFC however we have reason to believe there is now NFC
Let us know if we can help further and we will be happy to assist.

They are advertising a 1.2 ghz cpu + mali400 gpu...Orion chipset
And they are selling the tegra2 version.
I'm going to cancel the preorder if they cannot provide me the exynos chipset.
They can't be selling the Tegra 2 version. I think Samsung said themselves that all of the UK & Europe would be getting the i9100 Exynos, and most of Asia would be getting the i9103 Tegra.

No, but they must have given you false information. I think it would be against consumer law for them to ship i9103's when the website lists the model number as i9100(and the fact they clearly state in the description it having the Mali chipset). There would be a valid case for argument if they did.
I'm presuming that the people who answer the emails & phone calls just basically read information from a piece of paper they are given without checking the full facts. All I know is that if I do get an i9103 I'll be sending them a stern email asking for a full refund(or a substantial discount on the product. ).

yup i agree, ovsly whoever replying getting it wrong
Though Gum Mobile is bit cheaper but no way i am going for Tegra 2 and they are not sure if it has NFC or not...
I dont understand why these retailers are not sure what specs they are selling. I guess samsung know the demand so they wanted to sell what ever they got available as we are buying.. I think after couple of months, we might see Exynos plus NFC SGS2 available in market.. or if they get late.. SGS3 might have Exynos plus NFC for all regions..
Now what variant SGS2 got (as per my research and conclusion)
1.2 Dual core Exynos plus Super AMOLED + without NFC = UK/ Europe (8.49mm)
1.2 Dual core Exynos plus Super AMOLED + with NFC = South Korea (8.89mm)
1.2 Dual Core Tegra2 plus Super AMOLED+ with NFC = 2nd batch UK/ Europe (8.89)
1.2 Dual core Exynos plus LCD+ ????= Guess Russia
1.0 Dual Core OMAP plus Super AMOLED +/ LCD Plus NFC= Middle East
Will stick with Expansys preorder.
I sent them an email so hopefully i get a good responce.

Where are you from, from which country.. That would be helpful in answering your question
You could try Google shopping if it is available in your country..
I would say Gumtree or the AVforums
Problem with Ebay you have to add the 10% charges on top

What if someone recommends you somewhere that doesn't send you a phone after payment, or it doesn't work in your country ??
Pay what it's worth from somewhere you trust... There's not a huge disparity in prices

buying it in ebay from south korea

Hey all ,
I want to buy this watch and I noticed many sells on eBay from south korea.
watch has a very good price and according to the list it should work fine in my country as far as bands.
also asked the seller if I'll get FOTA updates and he said that yeah.
so my question is , can anyone think on other reasons why I shouldn't buy it from there?
sell for example : http://www.ebay.com/itm/321576361962
Thanks for your help
On the side of pessimistic, I'm always very careful about ordering anything from overseas. Mainly cuz what if something goes wrong???
Once i ordered a fairly expensive HD IP Cam from Asia, and when it arrived it was clearly a fake. The worse case I know of, is a co-worker that ordered an Galaxy
S5 from Korea at a great price.
After a few weeks, weird things began happening.
By utilizing a few sites that specialize in spotting fakes, he would've never been able to tell that he got taken and bought a cheap clone. And the kicker of this story, the fine print in the con's listing forced ebay to rule in his favor.
So overall, try to order products from US vendors and be sure to read the description in its entirety.
Sorta like the guy that bought a picture of a gold iPhone for big $$$, cuz he didn't read (or maybe doesn't know how).
Good luck!!!

I think that for hige-end devices such as this it would be very easy to spot a fake product , for example , curved screen is not something that every manufacturer can make.
and as you said , ebay buyer protection plan can always save you.
in addition there's the whole feedback system that if you know how to work with you can figure within 2-5 minutes of investigation if the seller is reliable or not.
my main concerns are about the version of the watch , will all apps work on it etc.

Don't be so sure on the looks alone. Take a look at this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gear-s/general/gear-s-150-t3001480
First off. This model won't work in the US.
There are a lot of different versions of the GS... Each for a different segment of the world. I would do some 2G/3G/4G frequency research on the model you're buying and the provider you'll be using it with. Also, make sure it's factory unlocked... Trying to get it unlocked from another country would near impossible.

it is the original samsung gear s with sim/wifi. the other problem is because its from Korea the navigation is not there on the watch all thou i updated it through samsung kies3 app.

How to buy Moto Z in Mexico? It's one of best markets...

I've seen Mexico is one of the best international markets for Moto Z: large choice of models and accessories, 64 GB models, interesting "bundles" and great prices... :fingers-crossed:
So I'm interested in buying it from Mexico (to Italy...), since European 32 GB versions aren't good for my needs...
Problem is that none of the Mexican online shop ship outside Mexico, since of Motorola directives...
If it was US I would have used systems like Viabox, US TO GO, etc. to have it reshipped from a "fake address" to Italy, BUT I was unable to find anything similar from Mexico...
Somebody does have hints for me to find a good solution?
I had the exact same question, and someone pointed me to Parcl. It's pretty much P2P parcel forwarding. There are only 3 forwarders in Mexico right now who will forward to Italy, and none of them has any delivered shipments yet (Parcl is still in beta, so it's pretty new). You have to decide whether you trust Parcl and their registered forwarders. If you do and this works, you can almost purchase anything from anywhere in the world!

I had the exact same question, and someone pointed me to Parcl. It's pretty much P2P parcel forwarding. There are only 3 forwarders in Mexico right now who will forward to Italy, and none of them has any delivered shipments yet ....

Well... I gave a look at Parcl. It's surely interesting but...
- As you already seen only three forwarders reship from Mexico...
- of them, only two can compile customs documents
- of the two remaining, only one has logged in during last month...
- none of them have already a single feedback...
Would we try him? You first?

I won't, as I was only looking to import because Moto Z & Z Play weren't released in Australia last week. They were just released this week, and I most likely will purchase locally. Price isn't a big issue for me, local warranty is more important.
I won't be too bothered by the fact that the user hasn't logged in to Parcl for a month. After all, it's in beta and those people are ordinary person doing this as a side job. If I were doing the same thing, I won't login as well unless I was notified by the system that there is a potential job waiting.
It's still a risk, just like when airbnb and Uber when they started, and to some lesser extend, even now.

It's not a price matters for me too.... it's more about available versions.
In Europe they are selling only 32 GB versions, only single SIM and with only black version of MODs... at TOP prices of course!
About warranty... well, no more than 5 minutes after I would have in my hands it will be with unlocked bootloader.... so... bye bye warranty!

In Australia we have 64GB, dual SIM and both black and white versions of MODs. It's not at bargain price, but it's much easier for you to buy from Australia.

I've seen prices between 12,000 and 13.600 MXN$ on Amazon.mx in the past days... 16.000 is from Motorola.mx...
Anyway, if I decide this way, I'll be very happy to pay A BOX of beers to you if you made me this service... :highfive:
I'll decide what to do after my trip in Malaysia at the end of October. I've seen there is no Motorola.my, BUT I think they should sell it in Malaysia too... and it could be the Indian/Thai/Singapore version...
Then eventually I feel free to contact you or the Australian pal, OK? :fingers-crossed:

It's no more listed on Liverpool, but even on Amazon.mx prices have changed in these days... from 11,999 to 15,999...
As I have already said, when I'll come back from my trip in Malaysia at mid November I would decide where to buy it.
If I would go for Mexico, your offer by ebay/PayPal will be my first choice... tranquilo amigo! :good::laugh:

yes, it was only for two days, they have something named "venta nocturna" where you can buy using any payment and you have very good discounts. Also, here in mexico we have our "black friday" (buen fin) where for 4 days we have several promos and pretty good deals, from november 13 to 16, you can wait and see if any of the promos are suitable for you and of course, if you want I can sell you via ebay and paypal payment, I have no problem at all. here are the list of all the stores that will have discounts on "el buen fin" http://promociondescuentos.com/el-buen-fin-tiendas-participantes/
PS. I bought mine on Amazon on pre-sale and was $13.000, never saw it at $11,000, and also I had a $500 discount because the day of release.

I have a lot of phones in my history... htc 10, mate 8, note 5, recent and iphone 6 plus. Moto z for me is very sexy phone, motomods is a plus, and i like vanilla android, great battery adding external moto mod battery...
My average points
Htc 10 = 10 (very quality phone, the best sound on phone and the jack por headphones, sense wow)
Mate 8 = 7 (great phone, quality phone, very bad software)
Note 5 = 7 (great balance phone, a lot of garbage apps, need more vanilla android)
Iphone 6 plus = 9 (quality phone no doubt, balanced in every aspect... Ur phone and Apple owns you, think for u)
Moto z = 9.5 (no perfect physical disign and battery size...)

Buying in China?

I'm going to the Beijing area later this month. I'm thinking about picking up an Amazfit in a store. It should be easy enough to change it into English firmware or PACEify it.
Has anyone bought it in a store in China? I wonder which stores are selling it - any electronics store or just Xiaomi branded stores and what price to expect?
Don't know what price are at in China but I got mine online for $104 us dollars.
I'm Europe based, and in order to avoid VAT and admin. fees by importing from US or China-based online webshops I have to buy through Europe-based resellers - and then the price is something like >$200 according to my research. So it would just be easier (cheaper), when I am in China to buy one there if possible.

I'm based in europe and the price I paid was £82 from gearbest and also geekbuying (I bought 2 amazfits).
You don't pay any VAT or admin tools from either of those retailers if you just choose the standard delivery method,.

Where are you in europe?
I bought through gearbest, with "priority shipping to Germany" .
It comes at their price, no additional tax, it's €88,88 atm

UK.
I'm in Denmark. So gearbest ship from within the EU? Maybe I'll look it up.
Though still traveling to China so if anyone have information about getting one of these out there let me know.
Check with some aliexpress seller (sort by number of orders) and ask them from what town they are. Maybe you will be near them, so you can make personal deal. Or just order from aliexpress and put the adress for delivery where you will be in that time. Easy as that
You can do same with Gearbest/geekbuyibg, etc.

Yes gearbest ship to the EU. Though recently I've had a better experience with geekbuying (their shipping was much faster)
I think buying online would actually end up being less hassle than buying in China, and I'm not convinced there would be a huge saving anyway. At least with buying online you have some protection and after sales support.

No they are not shipping from the EU, but they have found a way to avoid for you to pay taxes.
Probably won't last after brexit, as it is rumored that they ship via UK and then avoid taxes at all.
Just a short update. I ended up buying Amazfit Pace from the Xiaomi store in the shopping mall 'Modern Plaza' (https://goo.gl/maps/ETduKM7SLcw) in Beijing. Easily accessed by the subway.
The unit price was 799 Yuan. No problems by installing English firmware and updating to 1.3.4f.
I did look for it other places but couldn't find it anywhere. I found most resellers only had a few Xiaomi phones and sometimes more simpler fitness trackers.
