yeahhh!!!!!!

Seems like my advice and others like me has been heard. Thanks to Jide for being responsive.

I have pledge remix io+ but please guys let us ask Jide to include a microphone in the controller so that we can do voice search over YouTube and use Google now voice search. I sent them an email asking this. Please guys send an email too. This is a function that needs to be implemented. Put a microphone in the controller like nvidia shield

With a May 2017 (estimated) ship date, and given Jide's record with the Ultratablet, does this mean that early adopters can expect support to end December 2017?
I'm not trying to throw mud at Jide but seriously, the way they seem to have screwed over ultratab early adopters is pitiful.
Hopefully if we choose to become Kickstarter supporters for the IO+, we won't get End-Of-Life status 6 months later.

I have heard that there were lots of issues with the SoC..

project has been stopped
this is no longer an active project as Jide Tech has abandon its dream to be one of the leading android TV/PC, however you can try Matricom Gbox they have been at it for years and the are back once again to lead the way.

[Q] Installing Andriod 4.2.2 onto RealTek RTD1186

Hello Android People...
I need some some help in getting started with my media player which OS sucks massively. The box is a PlayON HD 3D running some lame as pile of junk that I need to blow away and replace with the lastest and greatest version of Andriod.
Here are the specs for the box and some pics to show you the hardware that we have work with. I am looking for any assistance to help me get started in wiping of the rubbish and starting re-loading a real os. I am a linux user so feel free to post any cmd line linux stuff. I have also ROM'd a few Andriod phones in my time so not a complete novice. This is however, my first attempt at flashing a media player.
Any pointers in the right direction would be a great help.... and if anyone has done this before, then I would love to hear from them.
Thanks :highfive:

Running Android 4.x on Realtek 1186
My TV Box is Himedia H910A. This box is running Venus Linux + Android v2.1. Are you able to upgrade it to Android v4.4? Since typical box with RTD1186 only has 512MB RAM, so upgrading to Android v4.4 probably is a better solution. Your challenge is Realtek already stopped working on porting Android to RTD1186 after 2012.

Android + Windows dual-boot tablet with 5 GHz WiFi?

And root support pretty please? Damn cheapskate Chinese and capitalist Google/Microsoft.
I've read about Teclast X10 supporting dual band, but not from reliable sources. Can any actual owners comments on that?
*Oh and don't skimp on the microSD and micro HDMI (not mini, sorry camera lovers) support. Heck add USB-C since I'm probably dreaming or something.

When will Android N Remix OS be released for PC?
Again I would like to ask if Remix OS pre-installed on the device will be bloated with ads and recommendations of "fantastic apps" or it will be a kind of premium version of the OS without all that rubbish?
Will we be able to connect a ps4 controller?

That's what I'd like to see.
An OS with almost nothing, certainly no "Microsoft freebies" that have bloated the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2.
Just a basic browser, maybe email, google store, so you can go and grab FFox and whatever email YOU want, whatever apps YOU want.
If theyw ant to have freebies for buyers, let them host the apps on their website and people can grab what they WANT.
I was thinking about this device, but it haven't got one very important thing for me. Optical sound output, spdif. I have other TV Box and with Kodi I am able to play 5.1 films and music with that. If this device will have in future optical sound output, I will buy it. Stereo is not enought these times for many people, especially for TV Box. Most people which like to play films on TV in home have now 5.1 or 7.1 digital sound system. Even my 7-years cheap old TV have this output. Keep going and think about this.
But thank You for Remix OS. On my laptop and PC it is very good thing to have. Thank You for Your work.
maybe next remix IO add dvb s2 ?
...

Seeking Advice on a New Build

My existing rig is 13 years old and I've decided to have a new rig built for me. I've come to understand over the last few days that deciding on hardware is a lot more complex than it was 12 years ago and I need some advice but let me start by explaining what I want.
I'm not a gamer and from what I've been told for what I currently do on my PC, an Intel Core I3 would meet my needs. However, based on my experience with my current rig, if you exceed your needs now, the PC you'll build, will last as long as you don't have a hardware failure so I'm wanting my new rig to have a Core I5 instead. Since I want this rig to last I'm going to put a 13th generation Core I5 in it. I'm also planning on it having a Western Digital 1TB SSD in as well. With the above being stated this rig will probably be a once and done build with probably zero chance of it being upgraded down the road.
One question for starter is whether I should go with DDR5 memory or with DDR4? I was speaking to a tech today that said that for what he does, he can't tell the difference in speed between DDR4 and DDR5. Another person I've communicated with said that the price of DDR5 memory is low right now and that since this is a once and done build I might as well go with the faster RAM. With that in mind my local parts house seems to be geared toward DDR4 boards instead of DDR5 boards so if I were to choose DDR4 I would have a wider selection of boards.
Based on the direction of DDR4 vs. DDR5. I'm looking for a board that's not necessarily a high end gamer's board but I don't want a low end board so something in the middle would probably be best. Note that I'm certainly limited to any of the following boards but these are the boards my local parts house stocks. My problem is that I don't have a freaking clue if these are high end, low end or mid-tier boards but most of them are DDR4 boards instead of DDR5 boards. The store obviously likes Gigabyte boards with a couple of ASUS boards thrown in. Since this is a major purchase I'm trying to avoid a major screw up by not picking a decent board so any help and/or advice folks can offer will be appreciated.
