1. Find a nice place without street lights close to you. The darker the better.
2. Use a small tripod. I got one for 6$ on AliExpress.
3. Set the ISO to 50.
4. Usually manual focus and focus on the the farthest possible. It depends on the scene so you can also use auto focua.. I prefer manually so it won't change.
5. Set it to 10 seconds timer , or use voice shutter.
6. Start with around 5 seconds shutter and play with it until you get your desired shot. Play only with the shutter speed.
7. Profit.

The instructions i gave you are for long exposure. I thought that was what you were asking..
Which kind of photography do you want to do on daylight?

Yes and no.
Yes, but not without sonething to block light from the camera. In DSLR we use ND filter. Yoi can search online for how to make ND filter for the camera homemade. I think it is possible to use camera film to block the light but I'm not entirely sure. Google it, I'm sure you will find something. Google "How to make ND filter for my phone".. without blocking light the photo will be overexposed no matter what.

Mozarts Camera (best settings)

Alright everybody,
I have had the mozart now for a few weeks and everything is outstanding on it, it's pretty far removed from WM6.5.
The only problem i'm having is the camera just seems to shoot a little blurry, I know some of the pics are me not quite keeping still, I was just wondering what settings it should be on for a good picture.
Thanks
Graham
Hi,
I've not changed any of settings and am getting pretty good results (when I remember to wait for the 2nd flash that is!).
Will have a play about with the settings over the weekend and post if I find anything interesting.
I'm currently thinking about getting a 7 Mozart myself and was wondering how the camera performs.
Could you please take some pictures and post them here?
Thank you very much in advance.

Could you please post some pictures (preferably in bad lighting condition too) of the camera, too?
Thank you for your work

How does the Mozart camera compare to the Omnia 7? I am considering either this for the camera or the Omnia for the S-Amoled.
I'm experience the blurred image as well and I did not change the setting either.
Just wonder how to take close ups with this camera e.g. when i take photos of a book the words are not readable, blurred???
EDIT: Wrong thread !
Anyway, I'm having the same issue with "blurry" pictures. Even my N900's 5Mpix camera is performing better... *Sigh*

This might sound a bit odd, but u know the button on the side to press to actually take the pic? .. Hold it in for about 5/6 secs and it seems to zoom in and crisp the focus ... then click to take a pic.

Have you tried Macro mode? Works well for me.
I've not had any problems with blurry pictures.....unless I move after focus has locked. Unfortunately there's no Microsoft update coming for me being bad at keeping still!
Ok, we need to press the camera button for a while until it adjusts the focus, then close ups can be taken and once focus is locked then there is no blurr and images are just excellent. thank dov74.
any thing i'm missing in settings about macro mode? not sure where it is.

No Problem.
Macro mode is under camera/settings/scenes then it's the last option. I've not taken any proper photos with it but I've messed about with it and have gotten good results.
From memory, another member on here uploaded a picture taken in Macro mode - will have a look and see if I can find.

thanks dov74, I've found it, never scrolled the scenes option further down

Official Camera Settings Thread

Ok guys we've all read the reviews hyping the camera as one of the best on a phone available right now. There are a plethora of settings within the camera app, whether its exposure value, ISO, effects, etc.
Lets start with some of the settings you guys are using to provide the best quality pics
BTW, I'm no photographer, by any means, just trying to get the most out of this camera. Have at it.....
Anti shake and blink detection really improved my photos
grr.. just waiting for instagram to build a freaking app for the android.
i always leave iso at 100 though. auto iso is bleh.

Eliminate delay
My camera has about a .5 second delay between focusing and taking the picture. Can that be eliminated?
shortcuts.. but I don't know why it deletes the shortcuts when I exit the camera app.
Second that .5 delay question, damn near impossible to get action shots.
Vignette seams to work without a delay.
Anyone know how to save your new edited shortcuts? Exiting the Camera app on task manager results in shortcuts being removed/deleted and have to put it on the screen again and again.
It automatically saves for me

I pretty much use all auto, no flash unless i HAVE to, and keep photo rez at the 2.4 wide. So far, so very very good.
ISO at 100. No auto anything except occasional auto focus. I've found the flash on this is far better than my point and shoot. It's a more natural white, and much brighter. Barely touches battery, too.
In fact, try turning on a flashlight app. I can go 3 minutes or more on 1% of my battery. 10% for half an hour isn't bad.
Can you guys aware me on these picture resolutions?
It seems like the 2.4M takes just as good pictures as the 8M does?

If you use GTG's NoNamed rom it will auto-save the camera shortcuts all the time.
(even if you force close the camera app using taskmanager).
If you want everything to work properly, why settle for anything less than the NoNamed rom......

Not going to lie, going from the Galaxy S (Captivate) to this phone, they removed the "Add Me" feature which was pretty epic, but I guess the rest of the settings make up for it. Fyi, Add Me allowed for people to be duplicated among a picture extremely easily, but yeah, that's gone now...

Even lesser will produce as good pictures as the max one. Until you print them out/enlarge them.
Quality-wise, its all about the lenses and the sensor, not max megapixage a camera has, hence why most cells will never compare to POS or better cameras.
So, if you plan on viewing/printing pics on large mediums/high quality/large screen rez, you don't really need a large base image rez.
I like to use spot meter and the exposure compensation....
I usually ttake photos of items up close....

Bluish tint and low quality
Sadly there is a bluish(sometimes greenish) tint and that is not light but too much. Any way to capture raw with normal colours? Also the quality is even lower than the jpegs captured with stock camera app.

also you should post the dng files on G+ page where the developer can take a look at it
I dont need the dngs.
The green is because of the missing colormatrix. But it can easy fix with awb tool in ps and rawtherapee or every other app wich can read dngs.
It would be usefull when the thread starter update it and make his knowledge for all users avail.
Its not good to point all problems to me.
I get bored when answering 20 times the same question and user get stupid answers or im just ignore them.
Its not my problem when people dont know how to process the taken raws. The quality can be worse when you dont know it.
Im thinking about to remove rawsupport in freedcam for all devices wich use the neutral matrix... Then its limited to g2/g3/m9 devices.

the preview is in dark conditons always a bit noise. for raw capture use iso 100 in all light conditions. it reduce the noise heavy. the exposure can later increased when its to dark.
also turning off wavlet-denoise can decrase the noise

We don't have a powerful camera like one+one and the raw output is expected to be noisy as no noise reduction algorithm is used.
Although FreeDcam has options for noise reduction and what not, i would rather do that in an external software. this is the reason why we are capturing in raw right?
With RAW you will get much more lighting information and thus edit should be much better.
Also try to use manual control available like adjusting ISO etc. Google should be your friend. Enjoy!

with that you can lock the camera ae routine. that means you can point into the sun lock the exposure and the cam does not change it until it gets released.
it can be used to trick the camera shutter time.
as sample when you want to have a longer exposure time at night. aim with the cam to a dark point or lay it to the ground and lock the exposure. then point to the scene you want to shoot.
the same trick can be done for a faster shutter speed. for that lock the expo into a light (sun or simliar)

Missing Google Camera Smart Burst

Am I the only one really pissed off by the removal of Smart Burst capability from Google Camera in our Pixel 3 in Android 10?
I just can't believe it... So useful thing, just removed supposedly in favour of Top Shot, which is something that covers just part of what you could do with Smart Burst.

This is very messed up! I use the 3 takes a lot of sport action photos. That 1.5 sec via Top Shot is not enough time.

it was such a useful feature. top shot just doesn't have enough frames!
You buy a phone with a set of features... and less and a year after, Google just removes one of them... I still can't believe.
They didn't remove the uninstall updates feature, but it's instead hidden underneath the overflow menu on the app info page. You can revert the app back to the version which still includes Burst photos.

Nope not the only one... I miss this feature a lot. As long as the quality of the "Top shot pictures" is lower than a "normal picture" (which is the case at the moment) it's no replacement for "Smart burst"..... :/
Is there a way to have the version with Smart burst still in and the latest version of the camera app installed at the same time ... Then I could at least choose the old version whenever I want to use Smart burst.

The feature wasn't really removed. They just changed how you access it. Simply press and hold the shutter button and it records a video. The video records up to 30 fps and then you can select the single frame from that recording and save it as a photo with hdr processing applied. Enjoy!
It was not that way when burst mode dissapeared... You're replying a rather old topic.
Thanks anyway.

Hi! I had just been uninstalling camera updates to get smart burst back, which worked until I updated my Android OS. So I just installed PX camera (the most recent version for Pixel 2), and I don't see an option to restore smart burst. Would you mind pointing me in the right direction to find the setting in the PX mod? After ruining a bunch of Christmas photos/videos by trying to use top shot (thinking it was just video recorder), I've spent a few hours this evening trying to fix this camera. No luck. I'd appreciate any additional help! Thanks!

Thanks for your quick reply! I'm not seeing that OR the 4k Time Lapse option on my 8.1 version (the one recommended for the Pixel 2). I may have to try another version of PX Mod and see if it's there. Though my camera speed has greatly slowed down since I installed it, so I may just uninstall. (Or it slowed down since the forced update that came with android... not sure which one.)
Thanks for the help!

Oh, you beautiful human, Xeust! I followed a link on an old thread from October 2019 and installed that version of PX Mod. Not sure what the file version was, but when I go to "About," I have version 4.2 of PX Mod now, and I see the Smart Burst option right where you said it would be. I turned it on, and it appears to be working! Can't wait to test it in action on my kid. Thank you so, so much! I don't have to quit buying Google products now.

New photo Pro app available

Guys, just seconds ago, I found, that there's the (from what I guess) new photo pro app from xperia 1 III is available here apkmirror.com
I tried to install and it worked!
Not able to take a screenshot as it's forbidden by system (not really necessary, sony). It has the new basic mode, that was shown on press release.
What are the differences with the mark II version? Difference in image quality or options?
From my guess, what sony is going to archive in future models, is to combine the normal and the pro-app, so there would be no need to develop and maintain two different apps - that saves money for them.
The linked app is already combined, some settings are slightly different insinde the pro-modes. You can switch to effects from basic-mode. I'm going to try to abandon the normal app and see, if the new one misses anything.
Thanks for posting that. I've tried it and it's great except that I normally open photo Pro in manual mode but this new app defaults to the basic camera app so you then have to change it to the camera pro app yourself. A small thing but just one more step that we didn't have previously when the two were separate apps. I see no setting to change how it opens by default so if anyone else does...
On a positive note, I may be imagining a slight thing but I think quality has maybe improved fractionally. To be specific, everyone has raved about this phone taking RAW files that you can develop yourself ( even though I think most flagship phones do now ) but I have always found that indoor shots with this phone in RAW always require a tripod which means you are just as well getting your real camera out. The ISO has to be low otherwise there is so much noise that even tools in lightroom struggle to fix it. But I think I see less noise now in handheld shutter speeds in low light.
But thanks to OP for spotting this app & bringing it to our attention.
BTW, how does anyone know this is the app from Xperia 1 iii when it's not released yet? Is there information on Sony website?
Many thanks.

A small thing but just one more step that we didn't have previously when the two were separate apps. I see no setting to change how it opens by default so if anyone else does...

I always open the Pro app with a push on the camera button. The new Pro app can be configured to open in Pro mode when pressing the camera button, so it works great for me.
Thanks very much. Ye, I saw you can choose the default in new settings too. I'm enjoying the new app.
Good find. Works well on the Xperia 5II as well.

The is a setting for "Open in last mode used". Since I always use the Pro Mode that works for me.
After installing the APK, can't choose the photo pro as option with camera key.
What I need to do to choose the photo pro as default?
Had to remap power button gesture to use the photo pro app. Camera button does not have photo pro option after installing this APK

That's what I've done too, with button mapper app. Howerver, it does not work when screen is off for my non rooted device. Don't forget to set photopro bypass in button mapper when photopro is active.
Tap tap app is also an interesting option.
For now I removed the update and reverted to the original Pro app.

So the old PRO app was not able to be used wiht the front camera, right?
Is there a way how to downgrade to original Photo Pro w/o root? I fear the answer is no.
It seems this upgrade broke eye AF at least on 70mm camera. All pictures of my wife and daughter focused on eye are out of focus. . Also manual object tracking seems not to work at all.

Yes, it's easy. Go to settings, apps. Find the Photo Pro app in the list, click on it. From the menu, choose "remove updates". That's it.

I really hope that Sony will provide the new photo pro app on our device with the Android 12 update...

If you want to open the new (Xperia 1/5 III) PhotoPro app with the camera button, even from locked screen, you can check my simple method here (since it's the same for Xperia 5II): https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/updated-camera-pro-app.4283199/post-85866439

Unfortunately, on our device Xperia 1II, this new photopro app tends to take photos out of focus...
