Entering method 4
I have downloaded latest developer rom,
moved it to phone's internal memory,
But when I tried to update with updater app, it throws an error that I am permitted to update to other stable update only.
For other methods, I am getting error at 50% "Couldn't verify device - Current account is different from the account info on the device". The phone is also not booting to EDL mode. It's just booting to android instead.

But as you have said on your other thread the method in the link follows fastboot mode which is for unlocked Bootloader only. My phone's Bootloader is still locked. And I am unable to enter EDL mode also. Phone reboots to android when I try to enter download mode.

Without edl mode with locked bootloader it is not possible to flash. So there are various methods to open edl mode. Search on google you will get it.

big thx !

do you turn off drivers signature enforcement in your pc

@m4mohit , maybe you should add, that logging into miui accound and activate device track can help at unlocking also. in fact this was how it finally worked for me. despite the other prerequisites

im using windows 7 32bit so there is no driver signature check i guess

[Guide] [M4 Aqua E2353] Unlock Bootloader, TWRP Touch Recovery, Root [M4 Aqua E2353]

http://forum.xda-developers.com/m4-aqua
I have just successfully completed all 3 steps in the title and would like to compile the information so that more people can report more success. Many thanks and all credit to the threadstarter of this guide, the devs of the amazing Flashtool, and the dev of this newly created TOUCH version of the TWRP recovery (finally!)
Code:
DISCLAIMER:
[B]Your warranty is now void. [/B][U]DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK.[/U]
I am not responsible for bricked devices, bootloops, dead SD cards, thermonuclear war,
or you getting fired because the alarm app failed.
Please do some research if you have any concerns about any of the steps in this guide before performing them!
YOU are choosing to make these modifications,
please own your actions and don't be a baby about it.
Bootloader Unlock (instructions taken from this guide)
0. First check if your phone allows unlocking by dialing *#*#7378423#*#* , when Service Menu opens, go to Service Info, then Configuration; scroll down to read Rooting Status.
If "Bootloader unlocked" says yes, skip to the next section on Root.
If it says no (unlocked allowed), great, proceed on to next step.
If it says no (unlocked disallowed) or something like that, I'm sorry, unlocking won't work on your phone. Lodge a complaint with your mobile provider for locking it.
Getting the unlock code (skip to Step 5 if you already have it)
1. Go to Sony's official bootloader unlocking website.
2. Select Xperia M or M2 in the dropdown.
3. Follow all the steps (including *#06# to note your phone's IMEI number)
4. COPY the unlock code and paste and save it in a text file on your desktop.
Ensuring Flashtool recognises phone
5. Download Flashtool here and install it.
(To apply the 0.9.19.10 patch, install 0.9.19.8 and replace x10flasher.jar with the one from the patch. Default install folder is C:\Flashtool , don't change it)
6. Open Flashtool, connect your phone via USB. (Make sure USB Debugging is enabled in Developer Options). If Flashtool warns that ADB driver is not installed, go to the Sony website to download them. If Flashtool recognises phone, skip to Step 11.
7. Unzip the Sony drivers into a folder.
8. Boot into Advanced Startup on Windows and disable signed driver enforcement (I'm sorry, you have to Google this for your specific Windows installation)
9. When Windows has restarted, go to Device Manager, click on the ADB Interface item with the yellow questionmark, click Update Drivers, Search Manually, Have Disk, and then open the folder where the Sony driver inf is. select the ADB inf and install it. Warnings will pop up but install the drivers anyway. When done, the yellow questionmark will be replaced by something normal.
10. Verify that Flashtool recognises phone by connecting the USB cable when phone is on. You should see information about phone kernel and ROM version.
<Congratulations for making it this far>
Setting up Flashtool for use
11. With Flashtool open and phone connected, click on Devices in Flashtool menu > Check Drivers.
12. More information will pop up. Under ADB Devices, your phone's serial number will be stated (something like 10 digits and letters). Copy that serial number.
13. Go to %USERPROFILE%\.flashTool\mydevices .
14. Create a new folder in here and rename it to the serial number.
15. Open the serial number folder, create a new text file and rename it "ulcode.txt" (without the quotes).
16. Open the text file, paste your bootloader unlock code, save and close the file.
For step 16, as a precaution, copy and paste the serial number folder inside registeredDevices too. I didn't test which folder was being used by Flashtool for the unlock.
Actual unlocking of bootloader
17. With Flashtool open and phone connected, click on the BLU button. Follow all instructions. One involves VOL UP, the other involves VOL DOWN (for fastboot), please take note to do both, it's not deja vu.
18. When you have done so correctly, Flashtool will pop a small dialog with your IMEI and unlock code already pasted inside.
19. Take a deep breath and click unlock.
20. Check in main window that bootloader has indeed been unlocked.
21. Unplug the USB cable and boot your phone to check that everything should be normal.
CONGRATULATIONS, YOUR WARRANTY IS NOW VOID.
Installing TWRP recovery (with touch capability but NO external SD card mount yet as of 13 Nov 2015)
0. Make sure your bootloader is unlocked before proceeding.
1. The download link is from the M4 Aqua Marshmallow Site, scroll to the bottom. (XDA thread is here)
2. Download and save the recovery.img file anywhere you like.
3. Copy and paste recovery.img to C:\Flashtool\x10flasher_lib .
4. Install the recovery using fastboot using the instructions based on this website (thanks and credits to Shyam Karnani):
Flashtool comes with its own ADB interface so we don't need to install any new ones or the bloated Android SDK.
a) Open a command window inside the folder C:\Flashtool\x10flasher_lib (shift-rightclick and select "open command window here")
b) Connect phone to the computer using the USB cable.
c) type "adb reboot bootloader" (without quotes) in the command window and press enter (if asked to allow USB debugging in the phone screen, touch ok)
d) when the phone has entered fastboot, type "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" (without quotes) and enter. Check that there are no errors produced by the flashing.
e) type "fastboot reboot" and enter.
The phone now has TWRP recovery but NO ROOT.
To boot into recovery
1. Simultaneously press the Power button and Volume down until your device vibrates.
2. Quickly release the Power button, but keep pressing Volume down.
3. When you see the TWRP screen, release Volume down. You have now successfully entered recovery mode.
(Instructions from Sony Developer website)
Rooting using SuperSU
0. Check that you have flashed a custom recovery. If not, please refer to steps right above.
1. Download SuperSU from the official website.
2. Connect your phone and transfer the zip file to the INTERNAL storage (because no recovery can mount external SD card yet as of 13 Nov 2015).
3. Power off phone and boot into TWRP recovery.
(An info dialog will popup asking if you want to keep read-only for /system. I chose NOT to keep, but need someone with knowledge to explain if read-only will block rooting procedure. It will, right?)
4. Touch the Install button and scroll to find the supersu zip.
5. Install the supersu zip. When done, clearing cache/Dalvik is optional (can be done using Titanium Backup anyway once you have root).
6. Reboot system.
Enjoy your root! :good:

Of course, that's what the title says lol. I cannot vouch for the other models.
I think the instructions can be modified, like for example different serial number for different model.
I'm having problem after clicking the BLU button, I'm doing what it said "Unplug USB cable, power off, hold vol down, connect USB cable" but will have an error USB not recognized, check flashtool screen it said usb debugging is off, make sure your not in MTP, I already turn usb debugging on. I'm stuck here.
btw I disable signed driver enforcement already and installed the ADB, but still no luck
Running OS windows 10
help please, :crying: if you can make a video it may help. thanks!
Everything went well for me thanks a lot.

Great tutorial. Thank you so much. I forgot many things since someone has stolen my Xperia S. Root revived this phone. Android 6 + root is great future but now I am happy with that, too.
Working on my E2303. If someone has problem then he/ she has to learn more about it. Just follow steps slowly and everything is gonna be fine.
I had the same problem but also on windows 10, flashed in a windows 8 computer without any major issues.

Stuck at Bootloader Unlocking...
Hi, I have a problem here. I have the E2353 Xperia M4 Aqua and use the mac version of Flashtool
I've followed every step from checking whether or not the phone's BL can be unlocked (it is allowed) to putting all the necessary text files in the "mydevices" and "registeredDevices" folder. Problem is when I press and hold the VOL Down key and plug the USB in...nothing happens, it's just stuck there at the instructions screen while I keep holding the down volume key. I expected to see the Bootloader Unlock Wizard but it doesn't appear
Is there something I missed? What should I do?
Worked on e2363!
I managed to work on my E2363, though at the beginning I had problems and errors (when using fasboot to record TWRP.img got the error "unable to record the image").
In step 0, i got YES, but the error I mentioned persisted.
So did all the steps again (assuming in step 0 I would have gotten "no") and worked, the TWRP was recorded.

Error while unlocking bootloader

I have to unlock my bootloader of redmi note 3 i got permission from xiaomi but when i used mi unlock tool to unlock bootloader but it is showing verific
ation error
It's a common error you might face. The solution is to enable oem unlock in developer options and USB debugging and go to i.mi.com and login in with your account to make sure that the device is shown online. Then go to fastboot and try unlocking. If it doesn't work, wait for some 3 days and try again.
Mine worked after 3 days.
this method worked for me (kenzo) when i was on V8.0.6.0.LHOMIDG MIUI8.
1- you need to switch from global stable to global developer rom, download the latest global developer rom on android lollipop(5.1).
unfortunately xda won't let me include links,so google this : miui_HMNote3ProGlobal_6.8.18_d0da79d09e_5.1.zip
2- after downloading the rom, rename the file name to Update.zip then copy to internal storage(in downloaded_rom folder).
3- open updater app, select choose update package, go to downloaded_rom folder and select Update.zip. It will verify your rom and install it.
4- download the latest global developer rom from en miui , repeat the steps 2 and 3.
5- sign in to your mi account on your device(enable find device),also on i.mi.com(to check your device). enable developer options, then enable OEM unlocking and USB debugging.
also check your status in developer options>unlock bootloader(I forgot the exact name of this section)
6- download the latest version of MIFlashUnlock tool and log into your account
7- turn off your device and go to fastboot (press and hold volume - and power button at the same time), connect your device to your PC, click unlock(on MIFlashUnlock tool), after your bootloader successfully unlocked, click on reboot.
also there is no need to wait after receiving your permission, it worked for me after a few hours of searching for solutions and if I knew this method in the first place, I don't think there would be a problem right after receiving my permission to unlock the bootloader.

[GUIDE] How to unlock bootloader and install ROMs

This guide should work with any Xiaomi device, including the Redmi K20, Redmi K20 Pro, Xiaomi Mi 9T and Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro.
Install ADB on windows 10
Go to developer.android.com and download SDK Platform-Tools for Windows as ZIP
Unzip and save in a folder on the C drive. Remark: you do not have to install anything or run any program.
Check installation: Shift+right click on an empty area in the folder and select open command prompt here and type adb. The result should be similar to this: Android Debug Bridge version 1.0.39 Revision 3db08f2c6889-android Installed as C:\ADB\platform-tools\adb.exe. If ADB is not correctly installed, you will probably see the following message: ‘adb’ is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
Unlock bootloader
Backup all your personal documents
Turn off lockscreen security (fingerprint, code, face ID)
Make sure you have sufficient battery.
Make a Mi account: Settings > Mi account
Activate developer options: Settings > about > MIUI version: Tap 5 times
Enable OEM unlocking: Developer options > OEM unlocking
Enter fastboot mode: Hold volume down + power
Connect to PC and install drivers: Use device manager and select manually downloaded drivers
Download unlock tool: Go to en.MIUI/unlock > Unlock now > Sign in > Download Mi Unlock as ZIP
Unlock bootloader: Extract ZIP > Run miflash_unlock.exe > Sign in with your Mi account and follow instructions. The unlock tool will say unlocked successfully and the phone will reboot itself
Install TWRP
Enable USB debugging: Settings > Developer Options > USB Debugging
Download TWRP ZIP: Unzip
Flash TWRP: Boot into bootloader. Connect to PC. Open folder where twrp.img is stored. Shift+right click on an empty area in the folder and select open command prompt here. Type fastboot devices to ensure your phone is recognized. Flash TWRP by typing fastboot flash recovery twrp.img.
Flash custom ROM
Download files: Download the ROM (and other files like Gapps, Magisk) and move it to your internal storage
Backup stock ROM: Select backup. Select system (not system image) & select boot. Select storage where the backup will be saved. Name the backup. Swipe to backup. When the backup is done, press reboot system for your phone to start up normally. Keep a copy of the backup on the internal storage and one on your PC
Wipe old software: Boot into recovery. Select wipe. Select advanced wipe. Select data, cache, dalvik cache and system** and swipe to wipe. When the reset is done, press back (twice) to return to the TWRP homescreen.
Flash ROM: Select install. Select the ROM (and add other files like Gapps, Magisk). Swipe to confirm flash. When flashing is done, press reboot system. The first boot will take a lot longer than usual.
Remarks:
** It is not always necessary to wipe system, since most custom ROMs automatically wipe system. Wiping anyway should not do any harm. Furthermore, formatting data (wipe > format data > type yes) is unnecessary most of the time. It is useful for people who have an encrypted device. If your device is encrypted and TWRP fails to flash, format data to remove encryption. Note that if you disabled all lockscreen security, then encryption is disabled. Encryption is not possible without lockscreen security. To encrypt again after flashing, go to device settings in the new ROM. Be sure to setup lockscreen security first.

I'm not sure you can get around the waiting time!
Some people get longer times than others I believe, you just have to continue to use the phone and potentially keep trying.
I may stand corrected though

It is not possible to get around the waiting time. The waiting time and the requirement for a Mi account is a safety measure to prevent reseller from installing spyware/malware. Just wait.

Why did you have to use TWRP? I used only MiFlash with the India ROM fastboot and it worked fine.

You can flash EEA, Global and China firmwares on different phones. You can flash custom rom. That's about unlocking bootloader, rooting is another thing which you can do once U unlocked.
For bad things you become able to harm or destroy your device(what happens if you do something very wrong, always double check while flashing from PC, don't lock bootloader on firmware not for your region) and there are security flaws in storage encryption.

Thank you for your reply sir. I was wondering about NFC or Google Pay, things like that maybe stop working after unlocking the bootloader.
Everything perfect except for Magisk. When I try to install Magisk from TWRP, I am always getting Error 1. How can I fix it?
Hi guys,
I'm sorry, but I have tue current problem of many people here : OEM unlocking is impossible.
I tried 3 times, with 168h/7 days intervall each time, but same error.
I allowed OEM unlocking and USB debugging, I tried with several MiFlashUnlockTools.
I can't find why it doesn't work...

What error?
After waiting 7 days and trying to unlock again, what happens?
When you are waiting for the 7 days to finish, do not change the Mi account on the phone, do not go to the Mi Unlock Status setting and press start. Doing anything like this will reset the process and start the timer again.
When the 7 days are finished you should only put the phone in fastboot mode, connect it to the PC and run the Mi Unlock Tool.

The same error : 168h to wait !
I don't think I do something to reinitialize the process : mi Mi account is not changed, oem unlock and usb debug always allowed...
I have a global rom, can it be the reason ? Or the method is the same for all versions of this phone ?
Hello,
Well, i've made all the steps, but after flashed TWRP, the phone only boots on Fastboot mode...
Can you help me?
Will the "bootloader unlock" cause a factory reset of the phone?
Kicked off the wait timer so 168hrs or 7 days to wait. Box fresh Mi 9T Pro; I'll probably be lurking around these parts of XDA now.
What happened to the old clear gel cases? The included black hard case is super-brittle and cracked as I was putting it on for first use. Ordered a good old gel case; I'd like to actually see the aurora effect :silly:.
Anyone know if running a system update will reset the timer?

Mi Unlock status stuck, keeps saying "Connect to network and try again" while net is

Mi Unlock status stuck, keeps saying "Connect to network and try again" while net is
I'm trying to activate Mi unlock status on my old redmi3 so I can unlock the bootloader using their tool, but every time I press the button it 1st says "Preparing to add account and device.." then near instantly " Connect to network and try again" (and if I try with no net then the 1st message doesn't show). The phone is tied to the Mi account, I know for sure since now every time I reinstall the ROMs it tells me is tied and I need to enter the Mi account password, its only Mi unlock status the doesn't and keeps the Mi unlocker from unlocking my bootloader.
Backstory:
So I have a redmi3 (ido) with android 5.1.1 bought in 2016, finally decided to try and update my phone from the ****ty vendor ROM (MIUI 6.9...smt) that had the updater bugged (the app couldn't also connect to net to check) and Mi unlock status missing, flashed MIUI 9.6.2.0 from the official site using their tool which fixed the updater (but now I can't downgrade) and now has Mi unlock but as I said it doesn't work.
What I tried so far:
-Log off Mi account and log in through the Mi unlock status (also tried using phone number as id)
-Change location to China or Indonesia then try again (tried both)
-Make sure the phone is the only device tied to the Mi account
-Enable "Find device" then use it to locate the phone (it was very accurate)
-try while having only Wi-fi or while having only mobile data on (tried both)
Here is some more info of the phone:
MIUI version: MIUI Global | Stable 9.6.2.0(LAIMIFD) (can also flash 9.6.1.0)
Android version: 5.1.1 LMY47V
Android security patch level: 2017-01-01
Baseband version: FAAANUZM-1.56482.1.63385.1_V013
Kernel version: 3.10.49.perf-g13b30f1
It also lets me enter in fastboot and EDL mode.
I had the same problem recently, after many tries I succeeded unlock bootloader.
Step by step guide:
1. Download xiaomitool and install.
2. Reboot phone to recovery.
3. In recovery menu choose Mi assistant, and connect to PC through USB.
4. Run xiaomitool and choose "My device is bricked and i want to unbrick it" and continue.
5. Xiaomitool will download chinese rom, this may take a while.
6. When its finish, in xiaomitool you can see message to set usb debugging, NOW you must power off phone, and enter to recovery again and select Mi assistant, like in step 2, and connect phone to pc throught USB, if you dont see this message xiaomitool should run next step.
7. Now Xiaomitool install chines rom, after reboot log into you account, unblock developer mode and click on mi unlock status when your wi fi is disable and mobile data is on.
9. Now unlock phone with mi Unlock.
10. AND DONE!!!!!

Buddy I'm the one you talked with on the Mi community forum so you already helped me : D
Only reason these are still up is that I couldn't find a delete button here : )) . Appreciate trying to help others in our similar situation tho
I am facing the same issue. The version of the ROM is exactly the same as the InowHateXiaomi's.
However, the method above doesn't seem to work. The XiaoMiTool V2 doesn't download the Chinese ROM.
I tried whatnot but cannot add the device to my account so that I can unlock it.
have tried this method..it tries to download the ROM but failed. dunno what wrong with my devices anymore.
Have you tried to
- install adb and fastboot;
- enter fastboot mode and fastboot oem unlock to unlock bootloader first?
it is not working, toker error or something...

Same here, where to report this problem?
change Your region to asia close to china or china, and then register once again using vpn set as You were in asia - then it should be ok, no waiting for old phones, I noticed they are blocking central EU or even west but asia is treated differently
i use this method but still dont solve anything, its say missing coockies or anything
