I need a help with ROM flashing. - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey there!
I have a question: can Marshmallow device flash a ROM.zip, which has inside only system folder and boot.img?
I read somewhere that some Marshmallow devices can ONLY flash a ROM.zip which has inside system.new.dat, system.patch and file_transfer.
I tried to flash a ROM.zip with only system folder and boot.img, but the recovery gives me ERROR 7 and after modifying the ROM ERROR 6.
I don't know, if I set right mount points in META-INF.
Is it possible to install system folder and boot.img in a ROM.zip on Marshmallow?

If u have the correct recovery installed, it is possible to flash system and boot.img.(most of the mtk phones has system folder instead of system.dat)
for status 6 and 7 error follow this--

You will have to flash an original image of the system partition via odin.
Go find out how to make a custom odin package with a system img that you extract from a stock odin package.
Check out my tool in my signature.

Sideload only works for rom.zip files, not for backups. you either have to push the backup to the right folder using adb push command or sideload any rom (don't forget to flash the boot.img in fastboot first) and copy the backup to the device as soon as it has finished booting.

or install a custom ROM (e.g. ARHD8) first and then you can copy the unzipped backup to the sdcard.

me install custom ROM ARHD8 and me copy ( 2.18.401.2_stock_twrp) to SDcard
and now how can I back to stock I done see restore for 2.18.401.2_stock_twrp ?
Copy your files 1-6 into a subfolder under TWRP/BACKUPS/<serial number of your device> on the sdcard. Then you should find the backup in TWRP.

I worked the following steps:
sdcard/TWRP/BACKUPS/>> and folder name my serial number << / and copy 6 files in folder my serial number
and after this how can I restore (stock_twrp) ? nothing in restore and backup
Sorry for the inconvenience
You have to create a new folder there - as I wrote it ('subfolder'). Then move the files into this folder.

[CLOSED][Q] How to root stock rom with system.img file after this? without flashable zip file

DELETED
recovery.img needed
nalas said:
Hello
I have a question to devs:
I have stock rom with system.img, boot.img and recovery.img files.
I want to add root access into the rom, but with kitchen I can add supersu.zip file and do flashable rom zip file for all.
The problem is with no custom recovery on my device - I can flash only via SPD flashtool so I need raw file like system.img , boot.img and recovery.img
Anybody knows how add root and compile system.img with root? so I can flash via SPD flashtool?
I tried add su , superuser.apk and busybox but not works - after reboot I opened supersu app and had binary install error .
PLS Help.
Regards

If you have Windows use 7-zip and view the archive so when you right click onto an app within you'll see a "delete" option which should work. If your on linux install p7zip-full to your system to do the same

Sounds good boss! It should work as long as your system.img isn't sparse
If the *. zip has a system image you can also do the same with EXT2 explorer (Windows) for EXT4 images

Yes, there is a boot.img but no such system folder to delete apps. I know that Android Kitchen can edit these type of files.

If you see a system.new.dat or system.new.dat.br you can convert it to a system.img
1) Mount somewhere on your PC the system.img contained in the zip file of your ROM
2) Remove these directories :
Code:
/priv-app/GoogleBackupTransport
/app/GoogleCalendarSyncAdapter
/priv-app/SamsungCalendarProvider
/app/Chrome
/app/ChromeCustomizations
/app/GoogleContactsSyncAdapter
/app/Drive
/priv-app/GoogleFeedback
/app/Gmail2
/priv-app/Velvet
/priv-app/HotwordEnrollmentOKGoogleCORTEXM4
/priv-app/HotwordEnrollmentXGoogleCORTEXM4
/app/Hangouts
/app/Maps
/priv-app/GmsCore #Google Play Services
/priv-app/GoogleServicesFramework
/priv-app/Phonesky #Play Store
/app/Photos
/app/YouTube
3) Unmount and repack the ROM
4) Clean flash + wipe Dalvik/ART cache
But what the point of doing this ? Can't you just flash a Google debloat script for your device ? What phone do you have ?
