Backup Stock ROM before first install of CM - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Questions & Answers

Hi people,
I just bought a new Redmi Note 3.
Before installing Cyanogenmod on it I would like to backup the original rom.
Any idea to achieve that ?
Thx

TWRP backup should do

Use ZCX or Alka TWRP, they have advanced backup options like EFS. Keep a backup of everything for safe side.

To be on the safe side, it's strongly recommended to use Alka or ZCX TWRP and backup all partitions.
Still, if you are not backing up everything and use VoLTE, backup EFS too. You will have to restore it after installing other ROMs to get VoLTE working.

[APP] EFS (IMEI) Backup Utility+Reviver+ToolKit

Hello all,I'm here with my new App for Galaxy S5 to backup EFS and modemst partitions easily.
With this app, you can easily backup your EFS (IMEI) and modemst partitions. You can backup in Internal and External sdcard that best suits you. This app backs up your EFS in two different types and in two files. First backup is in .img format and second is in .tar.gz format. Also, there are two backups of EFS at same time. One backup is named as efs_vinny.img and second in efs_(date).img. This way,you will be 110% sure and risk free. Also, there's Successful and failed status of backup.
Note-You can request your model if it's missing in the list.

I have boost mobile lte
Reflashing your ROM should only be done as a last resort. You can hard brick your device if you don't do it right or use an incompatible ROM. I stress this with all Moto E surnia varients because not all ROMs are available yet. Trust me.
For force close issues, make sure you have a TWRP recovery installed. Boot into it.
Under Advanced, select Fix Permissions. Allow to fix, should take less than 20 seconds.
Reboot
Most of the time this will solve your problem.
Otherwise, you can always try to reinstall the system apps you think might have caused the issue.
If you're not rooted boot into stock recovery, wipe cache, and do a factory reset. Or you can try through the settings, but I don't know if that will work.

[Q] Phone has been locked, PIN has changed after trying a new ROM and IMEI were lost

Hello
I've been using XIaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro [Kenzo] and I'm very happy with this extraordinary value for money phone
However I have run into a big problem, I had been using a custom Greek Rom Called "GTV Version 6.9.29" which is based on MiUI 8.6.10.13 and was working totally fine, had no bugs, lag-free etc. and I wanted to switch to CyanoGenMod just to try it out and have a taste of Nougat
and install this ROM here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-3/development/rom-cyanogenmod-14-0-t3461068
and I installed it using some version of TWRP ( I do not remember which one ) all I remember when I was booting into Recovery mode it was asking me If I wanted to keep the phone "Read-Only"

I did A WHOLE BACKUP OF ALL PARTITIONS, did a factory reset, Installed Cyanogen and phone booted CyanogenMod.
WiFI and SIM cards were not working and that sucked.
So I did a complete restore of the Backup I did, phone booted fine, WiFi works and SIMs do not work.
But it does not recognize my PIN which is 5314 and I'm 10000% sure that the PIN is correct and also it does not recognize my Fingerprint and I cannot unlock it.
I did a Google search and there was in MIUI 7 a Forgotten Password option and I cannot find it.
Please help and tell me what I can do, I do not wish to do a Factory Reset, that's why I did a complete backup
Thanks
Boot into TWRP.
Go to Advanced > Terminal and type these commands
cd /data/system
rm *.key locks*
reboot
Pin will be removed. Hope it helps.
I deleted them using TWRP File Manager, Phone is OK now and also I reflashed my ROM and IMEI were fixed.
Thanks a lot for your help!
try flashing cm13 firmware or whatever rom you are using.

Need help to repair Gapps on Archos 70B Copper

Hi there Dudes.
i'm really strugglin with my tablet. i have deleted the Gapps for a performance test. surely i've made a backup before. but i can't find my sd card.... (cats ...) Now i'm trying without any custom recovery (couldn't find any) to install Gapps properly and here is the point where it gets tricky. i tried many tools like : Flashfire , Flash Gordon, Open Gapps Manager and manually install by root explorer. But everything fails. when i'm able to start Play Store, it crashes every try after a few seconds.
The Tablet is rooted by Kingroot and replaced SuperSu

thank you
Edit: are there any Google apps which are not included in opengapps? I ask because i've deleted all i could find with Google in filenames, before my performance check. Maybe there are other important parts deleted... I habe no clue
I do not know your system apps but as you requested open gapps maybe not restore all needed apps. You can get system apps from stock rom (update.zip) to install missing app but i guess a full stock flash should be a better solution. A lot flash tools unpack system apps from update.zip if you load stock image for flashing.

Dint find any bugs, installed from magisk installer, backup and restore work fine just that before booting into twrp make sure you disable any lockscreen lock, it takes a while to boot in to twrp so have patience
To answer your question:
First TWP backup should be everything
Generally
Data
System
Vendor
Boot
Should suffice

Guys this recovery is too young i backuped data including internal storage, boot, super partions , which i was able to restore only once but when i needed to restore again i faced an error extracttarfork() so plz apply on your risk and dont be solely dependent on it.
