Modems / Radios / Basebands
What is a modem, also known as a radio or base-band? In short terms its how our devices connect to the towers and how well they do so. There's a ton of info on Google.com to cover this topic and much of it is biased debates. Do what you want with these, no one ever shares them with the Roms so i'm gonna change things up and post all the radios that have been released!
If you want to upload your device specific radio, please submit a link and specify if i need to re-upload or if your link will be kept valid long term.
As well please specify the Modem Version, or the version it was pulled from for reference.

This is a full boot log, going from a on state, rebooting, going through the static screen and closing the logger out.
Theres some things im working on here and need some help with / direction.
Can the debug bootloader be edited and some of its flags turned off?
as well as how to find some of these commands / responses made by the boot.img and the bootloader so i can make some edits to get the bootloader and boot.img to align

Please let me know guys if you have a preference on me using your link to thread for boot.img ( if there is a independent kernel thread only)
or ill upload the pulled img from each devices working latest rom and date it.

Pretty sure the bootloader is your aboot.img and that cannot be edited - or at least if any edits are made you are very much more likely to brick your device permanently rather than make any successful changes.

I was assuming fhe aboot was the bootloader. I did try to edit it and flash it lol. Fastboot didnt like flash aboot aboot.img
So then the idea would be to edit the boot.img to return a stock value.. There is a check after loading boot.img and throws a flag. Then immediately puts device into red. Red is signifying the boot.img failed to authenticate
**As seen in above boot.log**
i need to locate a way to patch this check and return the value 0.

This is the spot i want to identify in the boot and change.

If someone can dump a stock att boot.img, tmobile, us996, ill reupload and host here. Greatly appreciated.

Us996 boot. IMG and system.img is completely stock.
Also here is the h918 stock imgs https://build.nethunter.com/misc/h918/v10d/?C=N&O=D

Thanks everyone for the links to the stock boot.img ive been able to lable and rehost all of the boot.img files accordingly. I went and checked them and most seem to have the dm verity patch and force encrypt off. I also posted a area for the universal custom ones so there is a easy way to locate them if the forum bumps them down as roms get attention.
Hope this helps some and ill try to update as i see things change!! Happy flashing

are boot.img usable over different software versions? ie H91810i's boot.img vs H91810j's?

[Canadian/Claro PR D801/803] Development

First off, I'm not by any remote chance a developer or anything of the sort, I'm just your typical flashaholic enthusiast who thought he bought the wrong model phone, as development for the Canadian D801/D803 is seriously lacking. All I'm trying to do in this thread is trying to bring every bit and pieces of its development into a single thread. I'll try and give credit where credit is due, so please, if you believe you are the one to credit for something I post, let me know so I can give you the corresponding credit.
I cannot stress enough, please do a Nandroid backup before you attempt ANYTHING! I will not be held responsible for anything you do to destroy your phone! You have been warned!
Phone models compatible with this thread:
*Claro PR D801
*Wind Mobile D801
*Videotron D801
*Rogers D803
*Bell D803
*Telus D803
T-Mobile D801 is NOT compatible
Install TWRP Recovery on LG G2 Running Android 4.4.2 KitKat ROM (All Models))
If you lose knock on/off feature, just dial 3845#*80x# (change x for phone version)
Then go to setting and update touchscreen firmware. Thanks to @Rotopeon for the heads up!
Now to the good stuff!
I'll first post the kernels that are compatible with this phone; to me, this piece of the puzzle alone is the most important to me, as this allows you to basically flash any rom you like to this phone.
Unofficial Cyanogenmod 12.1 for the LG G2 D803
Say thanks to @zr239 in his thread for this!
Kernels
1- Wootever kernel
Just click the one that reads (d803-custom-05) [Canada]. This kernel has the generic connectivity icons (no LTE icon etc). Merely cosmetic, LTE speeds remains the same.
2-Furnace kernel
Download the one that says D803 (for BOTH, do NOT download the one that says D801!) This kernel has the stock (your company issued) connectivity icons (4G LTE icons etc). Merely cosmetic, LTE speeds remains the same.
3- Dorimanx kernel
Download the one that says D803, flash in recovery
4- Stock Claro PR (D801) kernel
File was repacked correctly to not break Wifi, cross compatible with other D801 phones and D803. This kernel has the generic connectivity icons (no LTE icon etc). Merely cosmetic, LTE speeds remains the same. Thanks @prking07 for the repack!
5- Stock D803 kernel
File was repacked correctly to not break Wifi, cross compatible with other D803 phones and D801. This kernel has the stock (your company issued) connectivity icons (4G LTE icons etc). Merely cosmetic, LTE speeds remains the same. Thanks @prking07 for the repack!
6- Houstonn's D803 AOSP Kernel 01-20-2014
7- Simple Kernel (Kit Kat compatible kernel)
Root
1- Kingo ROOT
This is how I personally have rooted various LG G2 phones; to me, it's the single, most easiest way to root almost ANY JB device. Try and see if this works for you.
2- Alternate root method
Try this if Kingo fails for you
Modems
By cross compatibility, it's implied that you will not cripple your phone if you flash any of these modems to a compatible phone: signal quality and end user experience may vary, so test whichever is better for you. If LTE goes missing on your phone, dial *#*#4636#*#*, and in phone info, and select the LTE option. There's also apps in the Play Store that can do this for you.. Although these have been tested already, you never know when the planets will align and make thing go awry, so always make a nandroid, and please BACKUP YOUR EFS IF YOU'RE GOING TO MESS WITH MODEMS!
1- Stock D801 Claro PR modem
Retains cross compatibility. Flash via recovery.
2- Rogers stock D803 modem
Retains cross compatibility. Flash via recovery.
3- Stock Bell D803 Modem
Retains cross compatibility. Flash via recovery.
4- T-Mobile stock modem
Flash this radio to you D801/D803, if, after flashing a T Mobile based rom, you get lousy signal. Will not brick/erase/destroy your phone. Flash via recovery.
5- KK Baseband If you're planning on upgrading to Kit Kat from 4.2.2 JB or AOSP, FLASH this file (baseband) before flashing the kit kat rom of your choice
Roms
Just download your favorite rom file, flash it via recovery, and IMMEDIATELY afterwards, flash one of the provided kernels in this thread! If you don't do this, you'll end up in fastboot!
1- Stock Bell Rom (rooted)
2- AOSP Roms: sweet compilation by @Dene_Bluesman!
3- Stock Claro PR Kit Kat KDZ file (Flash stock Claro ROM 4.2.2 JB, then flash this; if you do not, you'll be stuck on 49%)
4- Flashable Bell stock Kitkat D803B20e
5- Flashable Rogers stock Kit Kat D803R20D
6- Liquid Smooth AOSP
Recovery
1- TWRP 2.6.3.2
Bell Mobile
Roger Mobile (Also compatible with Claro PR)
2- TWRP 2.6.3.4
Download the file named (d803-twrp-recovery) [Canada], and flash it via custom recovery
3- Philz Recovery
To flash:
Download the above file and place it in /sdcard on your device. Using adb shell or terminal emulator:
su
dd if=/sdcard/recoveryfilename.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/recovery
Make certain that you get this command right. Typing the wrong number could result in a brick!
Or if you comfortable with it, just Flashify the file
Here's a D803 Build prop just in case you need it
D803 Stock Build Prop
I'll add more stuff as needed, let me know if you need anything else and I'll post it here!

I can see that lol. I wouldn't mess around with radios too much, it's super easy to cripple your phone if you do. Now kernels, you can mess with them all you want. Bad comes to worse, you'll end up in fastboot, but just flash a working kernel and you're game.

Hey nice thread, very helpful and with everything they basically need to know for a head start. Just a few recommendations though.
I like to install the custom recovery first cuz that way I can make a nandroid of my phone's stock unrooted ROM. I'm not sure if that will clear the root check when restored but anyways is good to have a stock unrooted backup. That's a life saver for when you decide to root you phone and start playing with new ROMs and kernels. Then when you finally find a good ROM that you love and is stable you can delete it to free some space.
Also if you can edit the title to something like "[Canadian & Claro PR d803] Development" so that people looking for a thread with Claro info can know it's here. Our phones are actually 803s so maybe having 801/803 can confuse people; IDK. The stock ROM says 801 but I really have no idea why. Maybe they made their ROM kanging the T-Mo 801
Anyways anything I can help with I'm always here. Anyone can PM me when needed
So just to be clear, I can flash ANY Rom as long as I flash my stock kernel in recovery right after?

Doesnt break lte per se, if you dial *#*#4636#*#* phone info, and select lte it will work.

Your stock kernel or a kernel designed for your phone (custom or not). So far all roms work using this method; if you find a Rom that does not work, please let us know, as this would pretty much be the first one. Always have a nandroid ready just in case.

Hi all,
First, i would like to thanks omegajester for this great post
Next, my device is a LG G2 D801V11B LG-801 variant on Videotron canada.
I am confused as to which kernel, modem, recovery, roms i should put on my device, as all I really see is information for d803 or (one that i didn't know about) Claro Puerto Rico:
from the kernel section
1- Wootever kernel
Just click the one that reads (d803-custom-05) [Canada] ...
2-Furnace kernel
Download the one that says D803 ...
3- Stock Claro PR (D801) kernel
File was repacked correctly to not break Wifi, cross compatible with other D801 phones and D803 ...
4- Stock D803 kernel
Same confusion goes for the modem section :
1- Stock D801 Claro PR modem
Retains cross compatibility. Flash via recovery. ...
2- Rogers stock D803 modem
Retains cross compatibility. Flash via recovery. ...
3- Stock Bell D803 Modem
Retains cross compatibility. Flash via recovery. ...
4- T-Mobile stock modem
Flash this radio to you D801/D803 ...
I know this is very crucial. I know mine is label under the basband version : M8974A-AAAANAZM-1.0.190036
I got my phone rooted using the Chinese root method which worked well. I think I have tried installing all the TWRP version I could find and the only i got working is the 2.6.3.2 which if I am not mistaken prevent you from installing 4.4 rom (SELinux protection... ) By talking with Dees_troy he was able to provide me with a 2.6.3.3 test version of TWRP which is great but still can't install 4.4 roms.
My question is as follow:
At the end of the day, will I be able to install 4.4 rom on a twrp 4.4 on my canadian videotron version of the G2?
Thanks in advance
and sorry if I missed something or did not correctly understood something in the OP I have read it multiple time but still unsure as to what install/flash

Your D801 is basically a D803 in disguise. This being said, you should be able to flash any D803 branded piece to your phone. Example, my Claro PR D801 worked wonderfully with Roger's D803 TWRP version; also, kernels branded with D803 should work with your phone too (as they do with mine). Modems, unless you're experiencing crappy signal, should be left alone, unless you feel like testing different modems; usually LTE goes away, but can be reactivated with the methods posted in the OP. You should be able to flash the 2.6.3.4 TWRP on your phone without too much problem, and be able to, in fact, flash a 4.4.2 rom (as I have before- I end up always going back to a stock LG based rom though). Try it out and let us know how it goes!
PS: If you wish, you can leave us your stock modem and kernel files and we'll uploaded it here for the benefit of everyone, and gladly give you the credit for it :good:

recoveries no, roms maybe, mods probably.
I am willing buy a US990 and flash the sprint GSM rom. I should only need to modify the boot.img right?
No, you would have to modify a lot more. Although the boot.img is a good start you are also going to have to modify the kernel and and maybe wrong but some lib files. I have no idea how close the ls990 is to the us990 hardware and software wise. Here is a whole site dedicated to develoment for your device, now I have no idea if these roms are any good but here is the link: http://teamuscellular.com/Forum/forum/429-lg-g3-development/

In my attempt to unlock US990 for GSM I did folowing so far:
1. I flashed Cloudy 1.3 while selecting the model as LS990.
a. Phone got stuck in boot loop.
b. Lost access to TWRP.
c. Download mode was still accessible, device info showed as LS990 but SWV was still US990.
d. When tried restoring to stock LS990 ZV4, flash tool failed and gave error that device model is different.
2. Restored a LS990 Nandroid Backup.
Results were same as flashing Cloudy 1.3
3. Installed the newly available CM12.1 Unofficial(Thanks a ton to @Seoyne) :
a. Modified telephony on the build.
b. No GSM access yet.

you can flash kernels. but you have to decompile them and use a new dt img. the one specifically compiled for the us990. i found that out when trying to use a dt img from a ls990 kernel.
Look at the int forum they have a couple of ROMs for your phone

This link is not working. Can you tell what exactly you were trying to say. TIA
If you have the right dll and the KitKat Sprint tot, you can flash stock Sprint on the us990 you just won't have service on stock roms...you would more than likely have to use cm or aosp based roms
Google how tobflash as990 to ls990...that what I did and I even have an ntelos sim card in this phone and all works but lte

JellyBean Bootloader D803 flashable zip

I take no credit for this.
I assume zero responsibility.
Credit to @blastagator as I used one of his signed bootloader zips for the d801 and just replaced the necessary files.
This has been tested by me and works with current Roms supporting d803.
No Loki.sh errors for me.
I know there are other ways to downgrade your boot loader but I find this extremely handy to have around.

not sure what you mean by make it better. lol
it serves it's purpose and I hope others can find a use for it like I did.
@ggrammer you should contact @NevaX1 if you are allowed to edit his bootloader flashable zip for your device but you have to remove lollipop temporary from the aroma script and zip as the d803 doesn't have that yet

[ROM] [TW] SM-G900T_PG2 Rooted Deodexed

G900TUVS1GPG2
Rooted Deodexed BusyBox Init.d
Hi all, just wanted to share a little project i've been working on. Its the latest release for the T-mobile S5 G900T, rooted busybox deodexed and init.d support. I'm am totally new to the process of kitchens and making roms. This is my first release on this project and will release debloated and other combinations as i have time. Please enjoy and report any issues. I will try my best to help in any way.
Now for the rom and instructions.
Typical disclaimer as always, I am not responsible for any damaged caused by flashing custom software period. If you have gotten this far then you completely understand the risks involved with "flashing" custom software (ROMs). Flashing this ROM will void your warranty and trip knox.
Again this is for the T-mobile S5 G900T. Stock for the most part. Its rooted busybox deodexed and init.d support. I have replaced the stock kernel with The Imperius Curse Kernel 6-20 by @ShinySide. Edited homescreen pages. There is only one Homescreen page by default. If you need screens and widgets just add them. Removed NFC icon and removed sfinder and quick connect from pulldown menu. International Boot animation and sound. All apps in system/app & system/priv-app updated as of 7/23/2016.
You need custom recovery installed to proceed. I use TWRP, have not tested on CWM.
You need to be on a 6.0.1 bootloader! I tested on the PE1 bootloader and had no issues but i recommend a full update to PG2.
EDIT Odin flashable PG2 bootloader and Modem tar download link below
If you do not have a custom recovery installed then please go herehttp://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-galaxy-s5/general/root-how-to-root-sm-g900t-firmware-t3358190 then continue below.
Download ROM and move to root storage of phone. ExtSDcard or internal sd
Reboot to TWRP and tap wipe then advanced wipe and check boxes 'Dalvik/ ART cache' 'System' 'Data' and 'Cache' then swipe to wipe. Do this 3 times just to be safe. If you moved the rom to phone storage DO NOT WIPE Internal storage as you will delete the rom you just downloaded.
Go back to the main menu in TWRP and tap install, choose rom and swipe to install.
After install is complete reboot and wait around 15 minutes for boot to complete.

I have strange problem with this ROM, hope anyone can help. After installation, I can't use adb any more. "adb devices" shows the devices is unauthorized, and under "Developer options", there is no button for "Revoke USB debugging authorizations". There is also no USB key fingerprint confirmation window.
Is it just me or the ROM?

It's actually a Kernel issue and not sure ito has been updated. Flashing another kernel will fix your issue. I will update the op and possibly link another kernel.

I've been looking into how to make a bootloader/modem flashable thru Odin but can't find any reliable up to date guides. If anyone knows where I might look to start I'm very sure I could make it, just need guidelines on how to begin.

*edit*
Files have been removed for now as numerous issues have been reported.
Awesome! This is what I was looking for some time (though to do it myself but never had the time) . Now we can freely jump between Nougat and MM ROMs without having to flash multiple tedious useless stock images.
Much appreciated, best regards!
Thank you!!!!! VERY usefull!
i see that the modem zips also contains fsg files. Is there a way to check what versionnumber the currently installed fsg version of a device is?

There is no way to check on device afaik, but you can dd the fsg partition, then use imgextractor.exe in windows or mount as ext4 in linux to extract fsg contents, then open "bundle_release" and look under comments for version number.
*edit*
Unless you've somehow modified the fsg from your build's default version, you can just download your build number's corresponding radio and find the fsg version in the name of the flashable zip.
Actually, just realized, you can copy /fsg/bundle_release to your internal storage/sdcard either through a root file manager or through twrp, then open with a text editor; that's probably the easiest way.
@Q9Nap, i tried the marshmallow zip files for mpj24.139-23.1, mpj24.139-63 & mpj24.139-64. All of them returns error saying "this zip is for athene but this is athene_f" - something like this. I updated to the mpj24.139-63 before nougat....this I remember clearly. Dont remember which was the original model no. when i bought it. Can you help me which one should i flash? Mine is moto g4 plus indian variant.
Edit: i read the comments in main OP and checked my device's /fsg/bundle_release. It says FSG-8952-03.68 ......which means mpj24.139-63 or 64. But i tried them both. What is the problem here?

This is caused by the device check at the beginning of the updater-script, to prevent users from trying to flash these files to the wrong device.
I wasn't aware that there are variants of athene for ro.product.device.
The simplest solution is to unzip the file(s), remove or edit the device check from the updater-script(s), then rezip and flash.
*edit*
@pron_91, I've reviewed the build.prop files for all available builds, and all of them specify ro.product.device=athene.
I'm guessing athene_f is the xt1643 dual-sim version?
Just curious, is your device subsidized?

Thank you for your help! When I flash back to stock, which was a marshmallow, then how will I know which files I want to run when I flash to a custom nougat ROM? I'm sorry but on past devices I was more accustomed to having a description of firmware/radio that I could choose based on which ROM I was wanting to run.

A custom rom is going to overwrite boot and system, and presumably ignore the oem partition, so the only thing to be concerned with is which radio to run. As mentioned in the op, any radio will likely work.
Hello @Q9Nap,
Gave it a shot today. Tried to flash the M rom that my device came with. I use a European XT1642 dual-sim 16Gb. Also here i get an error 7 while flashing. My device is an athene_f it says. I checked the build.prop of the currently installed rom. There is no "ro.product.device" in it's build.prop. Or are your zips reading "another" build.prop?
OK.... it seems that this is a problem of TWRP. Flashed TWRP made by oadam11 (Ground Zero thread). And after that the zip worked fine. Report in TWRP thread?

To use a custom N rom you only have to flash the last N modem package
Hi,
Update:
Flashing the last N modem zip end with an error: /firmware can't be installed. invalid argument.
This error together with the fact i couldn't flash the full N zip lets me think that partition table is different for N stock, or am i wrong?
Still the flashable N stock rom made by Jerome installs fine on my device.

Thanks for the info! I have a Harpia to test with but not an Athene, so I appreciate the feedback.
Obviously there are a few differences, including different TWRP and the availability of stock N.
So I need to edit the device check to include athene_f or remove it to fix the error 7 issue.

As for the issue with N, it could be a difference in partition table, which I purposely left out, because once it has been updated, it cannot be reverted; or it could be an issue with img2sdat.py, the tool I use to convert ext4 to sdat format. It converts differently depending on which android version is specified.
