Nougat Battery Life - ZTE Axon 7 Guides, News, & Discussion

Okay, I have seen a lot of people having issues with their battery life. This is a couple things that I have discovered and this has been checked with 2 other A7's.
First is wipe your Cache Partition. If you haven't done this. Please do as it helps drastically.
Second, some say it take 2-5 charging cycles to straighten out. As I charge my phone every night because I use mine phone a lot. 2-5 charging cycles is not it. I prefer 2-5 days of use and charging. This is for any device I have ever had. This also includes the tank of all phones, the Nokia 5160.
Third is Dolby. Yes it is nice. 4 Day test -20% battery over 7 hours of use average. This is why I don't use it unless I am in the car plugged into the car charger or wall charger. This is only true when using Dolby. Battery drain from stock music app with Dolby off to Poweramp (what I use) appear to be the same me.
Forth is SYNC. I don't know how many people use it but I saw between 10%-25% battery drop over 16 hours with it on. The reason for the swing is Cell Data vs WiFi. Wifi uses more because it updates more. The update frequency seems to be every 15 mins on WiFi vs ever hour on Cell Data. This battery drop was not seen by me in MM. I grabbed one of my other phones that is on Nougat and it has the same issue. So that is not a phone issues. That is a Nougat issues.
Fifth, now this one caught me a little weird. The power saver that everyone hates it seems like. Turn your power saver to Performance. Run it like that for 2-6 hours. If yours worked like mine. You will see no change in battery life during this time. Then switch it back to Smart power-save. And now watch your battery life increase. This one I cannot confirm on MM. But my battery increased by 25% by doing this.
Sixth and this one is important, Clear All Apps. Yes they load slower when you clear them out. But apps like Snapchat, Facebook, basically any social media, camera, are going to eat battery. This is known by many but often forgotten. I forget to clear all still. See if it helps you.
Seven, ZTE Locker, It is fun to play with but will drain fast the moment you get on WiFi. It will look for all the lockscreen wallpapers.
Now these are what I found out with the way that I use my A7. I know everyone uses their phone differently. What I call "All Day Battery Life" is 6 am to 10 pm. During this stretch of time I could be using my phone up to 13 hours of that. Very few phones can last on a single charge the way I use my phone. A7 is one that beats out the rest. My battery life went from 13% at 10pm to 39% at 10 pm. And it continues to get better everyday. Also this my be a joke but it worked for a Moto G4 and at OP3T. If you have a day where your battery just seems to fall fast. I mean like you are not going to get 6 hours out of it. Find a 5v 2 amp charger and plug in for like 10 mins. Battery fall goes away. It cannot be the factory quick charger either. I hope this little bit helps some of you guys out.

Thanks for this info!
Just an observation I've noticed since having this phone for almost 6 months.
When I use my older Samsung charger (slow charge), my battery seems to die off quicker. If I charge with the stock charger, the battery seems to last longer.

Right now I have not noticed it dying off faster. But I will keep an eye out for it. So far I have not had any fast drain battery days with mine A7 yet. I use the term "yet" because it is going to happen. I have not own a phone that has never had it. Just glad I can help.

I'm experiencing the same. Not sure if it's a fact or just feels like this.

I saw this drain you are talking on my Nokia, Blu, and Samsung 1 amp chargers. I have not seen it yet on my Asus or Samsung 2 amp chargers. It is really noticable on the Blu charger. I am going to put my chargers on a test rig this weekend and see if the amp draw to the phone is causing a voltage drop in the charger and cause them to not charge right.

We should not have these issues these days. My Sony Z3 has no issues doing 1.5 days without using battery saver. My Windows 640xl will go 2 days no problem. I don't understand why manufactures can't figure out battery life. I love the Axon7 but its the thirstiest phone I have ever owned.
Thanks for the suggestions, I'll give them a try.

I can't speak for Sony as the last one I owned was the Experia Play. I had the Lumia 640 XL though. I never got over 20 hours on a single charge. Battery Life is also tied to how a user uses the phone. My father gets 3 days on his OP3T. He also doesn't use it as much as I do. When I only use my Axon for calls and sms. I get 6 days on a charge. But for me that is not real world life. As a thirsty phone, I just don't see it with mine. The other two guys here that have one as well. They get 2 and 3 days on a charge. I know some people are having battery issues. Some are having charging issues with slow chargers. I saw it happen with a few of my slow chargers as well. I hope that my suggestions work out for you. I have been looking at other things to try to see if they help. That is the beauty of having two more Axon's in the area. Right now I have a non-battery annoying issue that I am trying to work through.
I am also updating the OP for another that I found. ZTE Locker.

TP2 battery

Anyone know where I can buy a extra battery for the TP2? I have found a couple in the UK but would rather find a seller in the US.
Part# - BA S390
Is the part# listed above the correct battery for the TP2?
Mine actually says "RHOD160" on the back of it...
I found a 1500mah battery on ebay (item# 250445669999) with a "buy it now" for $8.95.
Anyone have any experience with this "replacement" battery. If so, how does it compare with the original battery which is 1500mah also?
****Update****
I also found this 1500mah battery on ebay (item # 270409538954) with a "buy it now" for $21.99

I stick with genuine batteries now as I had a bad experience with after market batteries. My TyTN2 has issues turning on, and randomly turns off - even after I put the genuine battery back in. It seems the after market battery did some permanent damage.
I recently received some 1500mah batteries for the TP2. I purchased 3 units. I have a friend that will test these batteries before I use it. I will use one for the office, home and the other one will be opened and my friend will inspect the board and cell of battery. He usually takes about a week to do these test so, I will give you a update next week, if possible.
I dont really have a problem with the battery life of the TP2. Its just in case I forget to charge it over the weekend, due to my drunken stupor. Its nice to have a backup battery at home or work.
maybe I'm the only one with short life battery problem on rhodium... but I have to complain... after 3 times I've charged ...the battery dies in the evening.
maybe I must be patience and maybe it will improve after some charging cicle...but for now I'm disappointed.
anybody've seen a better battery on market for TP2?
well... i been an iphone user for a long time..
well since the first gen came out...
i still own an iphone First Gen (2g)
and now i been with the TOuch Pro 2
for about 3 weeks..
i love the TP2...
i did a test.. a little one tho..
i live in NEw YOrk.. in the bronx
i had to go to the JFK airport
in train so it was arround 1 hour and 20 minutes
maybe the trip...
i charged both phones to 100percent...
i was listening to music the WHOLE TRIP with the Iphone
and the TP2 was Idle...
when i got there... my iphone still was 100...
the TP2 was about 91%....
another stuff that i know it drains a little my battery from the TP2
is beejive but i cant live without it, i been trying a lot of methods to
increase my battery, cant see it perform better..
TP2 fully charge in the morning and it dies before 7pm..
just Textin, and some phone calls ( about 3-5 calls )
no website .. if so maybe 1 website .. no emails no push anything...
no bluetooh no wifi...
i ordered an extra battery and a craddle i hope this helps me.
something i figured was that the charging is REALLY FASTTTT....
it can go out 20% in about 15-25minutes of charging
( wall plug ) ... dont try to charge from USB it will take u 200 hours LOL
when i first got it i always charged from usb and used to take me like 8 hours
even more to fully charge it.. but when i tried from the wall plug..is Amazing
how fast it charges..

false statements? well...
i was a big fan of APPLE.. now i really LOVE
my TP2.. and i dont have any reason to be saying
something that is not...
my iphone battery was still 100%...
if u dont believe me then go do it yourself man
im just saying.. the TP2 really have issues with its
battery...
Peace dude.
Not saying that your statement is false or deceiving, just that your iphone battery meter was lying to you.
Clearly the battery level can't be at 100% after 1 hr 20 min of use. The meter must only drop when the battery gets to a certain level. Kinda like when you fill your gas tank and the needle stays on full for the next 50Km.
You must have the 1% increment tweak installed. Notice how a couple of minutes after taking it off charge it drops to 99%. At least this is realistic aye enjoy your TP2.
I found the screen brightness was one of the biggest battery killers. Since I took it off auto adjust and set it to full brightness all the time, the life had significantly decreased.

I don't believe you.. I dare say that because I was a user of iPhone 3G.. battery is hopeless.. I SURELY didn't get that kind of situation.. My wife still has an iPhone 3G.. also can't replicate your kind of situation..
In anycase, I do not believe any mobile phone device, listening to music at >1hr can still be at 100%.. surely the battery reporting driver has gone haywire..
However I'm not saying TP2 doesn't have battery reporting issues. Infact most HTCs I use seem to report battery differently at times.. usually after a soft reset, it shows a different battery status.

yea.. i agree with you.. but i noticed something on the iphone,
if u charge the battery to 100% and keep it charging for at least 20-30 minutes.. it will last long in 100%.. i dont know if is that my battery meter was wrong or something, i guess so... i was just trying to tell
what happened to me.... i really love the TP2 i wish i could have more battery life tho...
I hv no problem with my TP2. The battery last me for almost 2 days with 1 overnight charge. I'm liking it

It's just about how you use the phone.
I normally get a bit more than 2 days out of one charge, but then I'm calling and writing, surfing and checking EMails every 30 minutes, youtubing and listening to music.
Now I went over my data plan so I disabled the Mail-checking and did not listen to music for a while. The battery now lasts for 3 days with already 60% left.
I would say, one week battery lifetime isn't much of a problem if you don't use the phone's functions in any matter

Anyone bought one of these? Seems cheap - but if it works...
Comparin iPhone 2G with TP2 is not an apple for apple comparison. First compare with the ipHone 3G (Remember how poeple complained their 3G was lasting really less than their 2G and were switching from 3G to 2G to spare battery life ?)
Besides as many underlined the battery meter from iPhone is decieving (The TP2 has issues but less I believe)
In the end my TP2 last rougly 136 hours an I am quite a hevay user. Even if the iPhone last longer (I dont have an iPhone so cant compare both feelings, and my previous remarks come from my friends' experince who own one), the nice point with the TP2 is to be able to replace the battery with another one
wu dudes, well,my tp2 comes in 7 days.... i'll test it and than post here about life batery.... and freeway4you maybe u charge your batery when its not 0%. if you do that the batery is gonna be weak. sorry the english...

Yea i've had that same exact problem today, charged it, went to sleep and i woke up it was almost empty. I went back to the shop and replaced it, i'll see what happens now. Although after doing some research I think that it has to take some cycles to reach full capacity. Good luck bro ...

My battery stats

Does this seem logical to you guys?
It took me 3 hours and 15 minutes to charge the battery from 0% to 100%.
It then took me less than 2 hours to drain 30% of it.
Is this the typical battery behavior on the S2?
Not really my battery is not the greatest but it gives me about 18 hours
With the amount of screen on time you have used. Yes.
The battery will last for days with very little screen on time.
Our big screens chew through the battery.
Was getting screen on time of around 4+ hours with stock battery and am getting around 6+ hours with 2000mah battery.
Over 4 days only using like a phone.

Thanks for your answers.
I really like this phone, but its autonomy worries me. I come from a blackberry bold 2 and I could get a full work day on it without recharging it. With the galaxy s2, I have to carry a charger with me.
How am I supposed to use my phone without using the screen? It can get so frustrating to see the battery drain in real time...
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Well as it was said already, it's a huge screen, it's normal to drain a lot of battery. If your phone is new, the battery will get better. And if you don't have so much screen on time, it will last much longer. When I have a busy day, and not play around with my phone, it can last 2-3 days.
That's the thing. I always have busy days. My smartphone is supposed to let me go to meetings and be an extension of my computer so that I can answer the plethora of emails I get on a daily basis while doing other things. I'm supposed to use my phone without being afraid of running out of battery mid day.
I guess I'm just frustrated because I think I made a bad choice with the s2, given the nature of use and the autonomy I expect from my device.
I can live with a laptop that needs to be plugged in all day, but my phone has to be very independent of a wall socket.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Are you saying that you will be using your phone more than 4 hours a day?
I'm talking about continuous screen time here.
Standard Samsung batteries are only about $10 or so. Having a backup might give some peace of mind. There are chargers on eBay to charge phone and spare at same time.
Samsung extended 2000mah battery costs around $40 and will give you 5 or 6 hours screen time.
A Desk top charger and car charger might help depending on your job.
Point me to the other phones you were choosing from and I bet they aren't too much different.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Essentially, yes.
I work in advertising, so I'm out and about all day long. It isn't unusual for me to be running around the agency talking to the creative teams, or in the car going to a meeting, or getting on a plane. This is why the phone's autonomy is important to me.
Previously, I had a Bold 2. Before that, a Bold. Before that, a BlackBerry 8820. Before that a Nokia N95. Before that, I wasn't that much of a smartphone user.
The best phone I've had so far is the Bold 2. I could get by the whole day on a single charge. Sometimes I'd have to charge it in my car if I knew I was going to have a long night. Honestly, I ran out of battery just once. That 1500 mAH battery was a beast. To make things better, I could get a whole charge in just over an hour using the wall or car charger. My S2 took 3 hours and 20 minutes to charge from 0% to 100% yesterday.
I use my phone to answer email (a lot!), use Facebook, Twitter, read news, browse the web, navigate with Google Maps, play music through Bluetooth, calendar meetings, and chat with friends and colleagues through BBM, Gtalk, or WhatsApp, and phone calls, of course.
For reference, I've had my previous phone, the Bold 2, on for at least four days with no SIM chip and hooked on to my house's wifi and it still has around 60% battery left. Obviously this doesn't include screen time as I haven't used to.
I sound like a BlackBerry fan boy, I know, but I really like Android and I want to be able to use it. Maybe I just picked the wrong device, I don't know...
I am seriously considering getting another battery for my S2, but I feel like I'm worrying too much about the phone and I end up being at it's command instead of the other way around.
Yeah mate grab another battery.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
I just bought two and a wall charger.
Should be good enough
Hope you didn't get one of those cheap "gold" batteries... they will do more harm then good.
Nope, some guy on our local eBay sells a pack of two original 1650 mAH batteries and a wall charger for $50. I compared the pictures and they seem exactly as the one that came with my phone.
They are delivering them today.
as everybody has said, comparing the SGS2 to the blackberry in terms of battery life is pointless, if the sgs2 had the same screen size as the blackberry then it would last a long time, but a 4.3 inch screen is always going to suck battery life. I learned this first with my HD2
Batteries are here and they seem legit.
So now I solved my power problem by buying 2 more batteries lol

[Q] Battery issues.........

I've had my Flyer a few months now and in the last few days the battery seems to be draining very quickly. I charged it full again last night and this morning it was at 88%.
I've turned everything off so just the bare bones of the device are alive and i'm using Juice Defender, and still no joy. It's only started doing this in the last few days so i presume the battery is on the way out very quickly.
I've let it drain to 10% and charged it, and it's made no difference.
I'm not going to mess about with settings and more waiting to see what it does etc...., I really just want to get a new battery and be done with.
Where can i buy a new battery? I've had a look on fleabay and no joy.
Any suggestions where to get one, part no. etc...?
Many thanks in advance

happened with me also....10% battery drained overnight...
what app is using most of ur battery?
sometimes push service in some free market apps drains a lot of battery and it keeps running even when app is closed... check running processes... well i uninstalled that app with push service and all became normal
Thanks for that but i've had a look through and it would seem that there isn't anything happening over night that i'm not expecting or that is being very hard on the battery.
I'm pretty confident the battery is the culprit here. Sourcing a new battery however is proving to be a problem. Somebody somewhere must be selling them.
I've just been on to HTC in the UK, they have a service centre not very far away from me and they won't sell me a battery or even give me a part no. for the battery.
Come on, somebody must know where to get one.
I think i might have found somewhere in China...
Battery - BG41200
3.7v - 4000mAh
If the prices were cheap enough how many of you would be interested in buying a battery for your Flyer.
Perhaps do a group buy?
i thought flyers battery is not user replaceable?
It's very replaceable and easy to do.
Here......
http://www.techrepublic.com/photos/cracking-open-the-htc-flyer/6256123
I'm going to have to look at getting a new battery sooner or later. It's getting to the point hat the battery is always running low by the time I get home in the evening or even running out. With pretty much the same use it used to be good for a day and a half easily. Flyer was purchase may or june 2011 so it really needs to last another 16 months or so.
Well......I ask again. If anyone knows of where to buy an internal Flyer battery please post a linky.
I posted this thread earlier today
"I just wanted to know what people are getting out of their batteries. I unplug mine around 7:30 am when i leave for work. When I get to work i turn on my wifi (rooted thunderbolt) and leave that on all day. I have the setting to turn wifi off (flyer) when screen is off. When I get home around 5:30 i switch to my home network and by 8-10 my battery is pretty much gone. Is this normal battery life or are there any tricks I'm not aware of that will help with battery. My wife has an Ipad 1 and she seems to get days of use out of it before she needs to charge it.
Also, I don't watch movies or video at work... most of my use is surfing, twitter and email."
I'm trying to figure out if what is normal battery life and If mine came with a bad battery. If so Yes I would be interested in getting a new one.
The Ipad battery has much longer life and is a much bigger capacity battery. The new HTC Jetstream also has a much bigger capacity battery as well. I think HTC have learned lessons on how much battery power these flyers use, but unfortunately have used Flyer owners as guinea pigs, rather like the first Apple iPhone but that had terrible battery issues as well although they've gotten better over time.
When my Flyer was brand new the battery lasted for ages and i couldn't understand what people were on about the battery not lasting for very long. So up until a few weeks ago my battery was doing fine and then almost within a day or two the battery started to run down quickly and has been doing so ever since. I've since loaded/unloaded new ROMS and done all the usual procedures for deleting the battery stats etc..., and still no joy.
I think the problem is with the battery not being man enough for the job at 4000mAh, and the drain is such that the battery is being worked hard since September last year (in my case) to a point where it is now progressively failing. I'm not so sure either that it's all that good in terms of quality.
Most of that time it has been charging from one source or another. If my Flyer isn't in the car or in the house it's not often being used battery only unlike most other people probably use the battery only a lot, so i can't understand why the battery is failing when it's not even that old.
This is a big issue with the Flyer and for what the device cost i would have expected a lot better. I think the Flyer in itself is a fantastic piece of kit that i will no doubt keep for a very long time as i did my XDA IIi but i never had problems buying another battery for my IIi. HTC will not sell me a battery, they insist i send the device to them and they will swap it but will cost about £50-£60 for the pleasure. I flatly refuse to pay that!!
What is required is a bigger capacity battery (6000-8000mAh) in the same packaging as the current battery however, i think for now i would happily settle for another of the same battery if i could just get hold of one.
So far it's proving an impossible task!!
Just to add: Once you've made sure there aren't apps being opened at startup that don't need to be opened until you're ready to use them, also make sure wifi/bluetooth, mobile data is all off when not required, and all the usual tweakes to make sure animations are off, screen is on the lowest brightness etc..., then there is not a lot more you can do. I don't know how much use something like Juice Defender will be as that only makes sure your data connections are off at night and other times you specify. I've tried it and it didn't help at all so i don't know what else to suggest apart from turning the radio part of the phone off completely at night if it isn't on charge.
If i leave my phone off charge all night, having fully charged first, i wake up in the morning and it's down to around 86-88% battery.

45 minutes battery life

My Galaxy S II (and pretty much any Android evice I've picked up) has a usable battery life of 45 minutes. I unplug the phone at 9 A.M. in the morning after charging it to 100%. By 12 in the afternoon I would have browsed the Internet, checked social apps and played a few rounds of a game for what feels like 45 minutes in total. By then the battery is at 30% and I have to put it away in fear of it dying before I get home. The phone is useless for the rest of the day. My iPhone 4 with its 3 year old battery lasts 2 days like this.
No wakelocks, 99% deep sleep. I have a 3200mAh battery which feels like it lasts 1.5 hours before I have to put it away in fear. Basically the phone is not usable at all due to the user being in constant fear of the battery dying.
If I don't use the phone at all it's down to 20% by the end of the day with no wakelocks and 99% deep sleep. If I don't use my iPhone 4 with its 3 year old battery, it still lasts 20 days.

Well, or you buy a new battery for the S2 or you keep going with your "stylish" i phone. The world is not complicated and phones are not rocket science.
And by the way, games drain battery hard, very hard.
Charge at work, upgrade the battery or stick with your iPhone.
I tip my hat to you and wish you a good day.

Mine lasts up to 2-3 days with little usage.

Like I stated, I have a newish 3200mAh battery which is safe to use for 1.5 hours before you have to put the phone away so it lasts the rest of the day.

I hope you checked with BBS, if so and as you said "99% of deep sleep", it means that the games are draining your battery.Well, sometimes even a "newish" battery can be faulty.Try with different battery,I mean a good one for sure. And if your results are the same, stop playing those freakin' games.

I do. The battery actually drains while charging if I'm using the phone.

Yes I use BBS and have completely disabled all bloatware using Autostarts. I have the original battery and the Mugen Power 3200mAh battery. The battery life is proportional to with the capacity of the batteries I've used.
The primary use of my phone is mobile gaming. I don't care about the phone part except for receiving push notifications for email, IMs etc. which I then reply to on the PC anyway.
My SG2 and pretty much every Android device I pick up has 45 minutes of battery... Either you have won the lottery and got a defect phone several times or there is something fishy going on..
My sg3 lasted for 24 hours, my s4 last for a couple of days, my motorola razr lasted a week and my iphone 4 went for a day and sometimes 24 hours..
Even if I stress test my sg4 and s3 all the time it would last for a lot loooonger than 45 minutes..
I know the games will use a lot of juice but 45 minutes? Something is wrong...
What kind of games are we talking about? I do not play so much myself, just online poker, some tetris and so on, my iphone and android phones is pretty similar when talking about these games...
You could go for a Nintendo Game Boy etc
That said I taught ICS used less battery than JB. And it's pretty weird if you have the mugen battery. My Razer had a 3300 battery and that would go for days, even with heavy usage.

I've extensively used the Galaxy S, Galaxy S II, Galaxy Note, Nexus One, Nexus S. All of them can be used heavily (3G, gaming) for just 45-60 minutes before the battery is low and you have to save it for the rest of the day.
Simply listening to music for 2 hours in the gym drains 35% battery! WTF? This is without any equaliser and while using an external headphone amplifier. I could listen to music for 2-3 hours a day for 1 week on my old iPod touch before needing to charge it.

With zero usage and I mean barely switching on the screen once or twice to check the time, my 3200mAh Mugen battery is at 55% by evening. No wakelock, full deep sleep. The original battery will be below 20% or dead with zero usage.

Maybe you usually install a battery discharger app?
Never had such behaviour.

Possibly a crap battery, but im going to suggest you don't use the samsung charger. The phone holds a wakelock whilst charging, keeping the phone running at 200Mhz, so unless you are delivering 650mA, your phone will die. Therefore I suggest you are using an unofficial charger, which doesn't deliver the needed 650mA, or you have an unofficial battery which wont accept 650mA. Either way, if you're not using Samsung appliances you shouldn't really be complaining about crap battery.

I am using the original Samsung charger and the original Samsung battery. I have an additional 3200mAh Mugen Power battery.
It drains faster than the charge rate only if I'm playing games.
Could be many things then, but as you say BBS doesnt report wakelocks, it would all just be conjecture. Try and pull a logcat after an hour or so of deepsleep and see if you notice anything untoward. Also, have you done simple things like turn WiFi off when you're not using it? That scans every 15 seconds or something. Or if you're in a crap phone signal area, your phone will keep scanning for and trying to connect to a better signal.

It's the phone obviously. Like I said if I put it in Aeroplane mode than the battery is still at 99% at the end of the day. If it's in normal mode it drains severely. I don't have this problem on any other phone. I've flashed the latest modem for my region and tried older modems for my region as well.
Not sure but it sounds like you have technical issues with your phone.
I have the official Samsung uprated battery and I loose about 60% out of the phone battery a day with heavy usage. Usually doesn't get to that point as I charge at work or home when not in use.
I take it as a given that all smart phones, tablets or laptops have ****e battery life.
Blanket generalisations about specific OS' or brands being superior to others is just silliness.
Saying that, when it comes to battery life, my HP Touchpad running CM 10.1 pisses all over any iOS device and the ghost of Steve Jobs agrees with me!

60% at the end of the day is a joke. It's unacceptable. Without use My iPhone 4 is at 95% at the end of the day with everything switched on and every possible syncing enabled. Why is it so hard for Samsung to produce a properly working phone after 5 years? I am 100% sure their latest phones like the Galaxy S 4 behave exactly the same way no matter what PR bull**** they try to spin.

Seems the iPhone is the device meant for you, for me in normal usage it lasts 2 and a half days altogether with the stock battery, heavy usage like a gameplay of Gamelofts Modern Combat series or N.O.V.A gives me 3 hours of continuous play after which the battery reaches around 7-10%, wifi in JB sadly kills my battery only gets around 6 hour's with continuous usage which was greater in my GB and ICS days.
But 95% at the end of the day for the iPhone 4 with everything ON is a bit of an exaggeration(the hell kind of unremovable battery is that?) don't you think?

Everything on with no use. Thats the drain in standby. My SGS2 drains whether I use it or not with everything on. In aeroplane mode, it stays at 99% without use.

Battery life is great

I'm really impressed by the battery on the A7. I've had 3.5 hours of sot and 20% left even after caning it with DS Audio, 4 hours of internet radio, 50 photos plus editing and lots of surfing.
Doze is extraordinary. Check out last night's battery consumption (I really must get to bed earlier).
Best battery life on a phone that I've had so far.....Well, since smartphones. I had some flip phones that could last a week.
It seems to be a bit better than the Nexus 6P I came from. Definitely not as good as the Oneplus One, much better than the Moto X Pure.

The main thing I've noticed is that this phone doesn't get excessively hot which seems to kill the battery very fast (both issues I've had with almost every smartphone owned: Nexus 6p and Oneplus One included). Apps that use GPS, camera use, gaming etc don't seem to get the phone as hot and this seems to correlate with better battery life under use. The only time I feel the phone warming up is if I'm using the Quickcharge charger while doing something else. It's barely warm though.
If I babied my Oneplus One (Sultans ROM) I managed to get 8 hours SOT which was crazy but it didn't charge the way the Axon 7 does and it certainly wouldn't have coped with the stress I'm putting on the Axon 7. I remember things like constant GPS + Spotify + Bluetooth would mean my Oneplus One wouldn't be able to charge as fast as the battery was being drawn. Not an issue at all with the Axon 7.

I agree on all points. This is one of the coolest running phones I've ever used. Only thing I've done that creates noticeable heat other than charging is +30 minute phone calls on Bluetooth in car. And it charges unbelievably fast. Very happy!
Got ,5 and a half hours yesterday. I honestly average 5 hours. Battery life has improved significantly with this smart power voodoo on. It doesn't affect performance unlike it does on tw.
I notice more apps are closed in background when I have smart power on.. Like I'll be able to have about 5-10 apps open with smart power on.. But 15-25 with it off.
I get an extra hour sot with smart power on.
And I took quite a few pictures that day.. Totally thought I was going to toast my battery.. But it held up better than any of my samsung devices..
The Axon ZTE 7 A2017 has the most smart power!!! I dont have to worry for the whole day charging my Monster!!!
I agree with all the comments here the battery is really good, pair with fast charging if necessary is a winner !!!!
Same here I'm enjoying the battery life on this bad boy!
I would also say it's not too bad.. still 25% remaining after 5h DOT
Agree! On at 6:30 am and still at 86% - light use. 1 phone call, a few texts and 10 or so minutes checking the news. My note would have been 70-75% by midday with about the same use. Power save mode on both phones. Very happy with this phone.
I started this thread and I'm still pretty happy with the battery life but this evening I noticed the phone was a bit hot. First time I've noticed that. It drained from 45% to shutdown in 10 minutes. This is what my Oneplus One used to do. How can the same sh*t happen to the same guy twice?

Sounds like you've got a rogue app in three background that's forcing your CPU to max out and keeping it there even when not in use. There were a couple kernels on the oneplus one (including stock) with bugs like that, but it's not a kernel issue with the axon because otherwise others would have seen this. I'm betting it's a bad app.
I had just installed Kayak. Battery back up now. I'll see if I can reproduce the issue.
I cannot see the usage of apps. Any solution? I also can't see it in the system battery settings.
My buddy has this phone and literally flawless. i mean it works. it lasts. its powerful. has amazing SQ. and im over here with a friggin note 7 barely squeezing 16 hours out of it with3-4 hours DOT/SOT.
Not to mention XDA and everyone gets it wrong. its a 3250mah battery not a 3140mah

I use spotify or pandora via BT. we drove the same distance. same time etc. i lost 17% he lost 5%. both were fresh rebooted and waited 10 minutes. closed all apps and screen NOT in use. no wifi no nfc no nothing.
Can't wait for the battery life to further improve with android 7.1 and maybe even eventually a custom kernel
I'm getting minimum 6hrs of screen on time and i'm very satosfied with this performance
