Help with CF-Auto-Root. - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When I checked the website for rooting my note 3 (n9005),
I took a look at the build number on the website and it's different from my phone's build number which is LRX21V.N9005XXUGBPF5.
I am very scared as to what would happen if I root the phone with this. I just want to know if I can flash my phone with this version of CF-Auto-Root(the cf-auto-root's build number is LRX21V.N9005XXUGBOA5 and my phone's is LRX21V.N9005XXUGBPF5).

Nothing will happen it will work fine i tried many phones it had defrent version phone build version is deffrent and cf auto root version is defrent u need to check only android version like 5.1.1 u need to cf root file is also 5.1.1

Just used TWRP to flash a pre-rooted custom rom. This thread should be closed by now...

Same question, were you on Lolipop and can I use this to downgrade?
No I wasn´t on Lollipop. I just reinstalled all from scratch in order to test it for you. IDK if you can downgrade. You should try. Its an official firm.
Has anyone downgraded with this from lollipop ?
Can some one share the ota for lolli? I live in mexico and cant update my alpha.
Enviado desde mi SM-N910T mediante Tapatalk
I USED THIS FROM ANL1 TO GO BACK TO STOCK ----MAIN REASON I HIT THE UPDATE BUTTON and my alpha 850a kept trying to download lollipop a lot of ppl want lollipop but after all the bad response to it i got worry i wouldn't want it i try everything to cancel the download even reset phone and the download status comes back so using this i was able to fully format with pit file and everything else and get back stock and stop phone from doing the update thanks -------------------- im trying to see if its possible to downgrade from lollipop back to this so i can try lollipop without being stuck with it any one care to reply on that specificly 850a att ver ? sucks no att love but i picked it up somewhat cheap from bodega shop

What would happen if I try to downgrade with ODIN and it doesn't work? Would it brick or would nothing happen?
I downgraded from 5.0.2 using this firmware earlier today. It does definitely work. Too bad there's still not a root method and it looks like pitpin gave up on his.
Is it pre unlocked or do we have to get the phone unlocked again ? I am currently on unlocked lollipop.
Sim unlock has nothing to do with ROM files. The unlocked or locked status won't change.

I will try thanks for your help!!
it'll work as long as it repartitions with the new PIT file, which is included in the CSC tar.md5.
Downloading as we speak. It's weird how they reverted the releases to XXU in MM, which has been widely released with XXS. Samsung keeps being strange.
Let the Custom TouchWiz's boom now.

Yes. Flashed TWRP with Odin, and then flashed SuperSU through TWRP.
As for testing...
Butter smooth, even while updating apps, lags are gone.
Good Lock works fine, so does Wanams xposed.
They updated the App Drawer, which i always thought comes within the Launcher, cause, of course, we still have the Lollipop TouchWiz. Also icons are new too.
And finally, SmartManager with a widget.
Anyway, the only main things outdated are TouchWiz and SecSettings.
I think with Good Lock, we avoid needing any custom touching on SystemUI and Framework.
Happy Marahmallow guys, didnt expect it at all.

Cheers - any particular version of TWRP/SuperSU? Did Xposed go straight on? Or did yo have to use the various methods we had to for 5.x?

You can use SamFirm to download the 4 package, just make sure you tick the Binary check box. But people seem to have success with the single file, so you might wanna use that and download from www.updato.com

I'm using the TWRP from Ashyx and the universal SuperSU zip package.
For Xposed, use wanam's version, make sure you get the arm one, which is for 32 bit devices. And a goody for the end, Xposed Installer with Material (has quite a few better things inside)
Great, but why the slow filehosts? 3 hours to download :/

I have one more question for you: is this method super safe for my phone? I'm just coming back from a brick (due to my mistakes) when I was on lollipop and now I'm a bit afraid to root again. Is this method tested and working 100%? Thank you for your patience!

Yes. That's how I did when I tried Marshmallow. Other people did same as well.
You root the same way on Lollipop.

Upgrading

Tired of seeing the new update notification. Looking at upgrading my phone. Unfortunately, I don't install ROMs all the time, so I tend to forget the steps / applications needed to upgrade. I'm rooted, and bootloader is unlocked.
Can anyone help?

So there are now two newer versions out there, the latest only has an OTA no kdz, and if you flash it as is you will loose root
I suggest wait until there is a method to keep root and flash the latest, which I'm sure will be soon

L is the latest, if you want to flash j right now feel free
There are two Roms by eliminater74 and one by andy_zahng
For any of these choice you do not need LGup, so long as you are previously rooted
Just flash firmware (part one) via TWRP
Then flash any of those three Roms via TWRP
Reboot,
You will have j rooted
But being i tend to recommend a full wipe i would say wait until the latest L is out in a flashable .zip, should be soon

Thank you. I'm rooted and using stock ROM right now. What ROM do you use?

[Can I flash update firmware to a newer version in one go?]

What i mean is, my current phone is 5.1.1. Can I flash firmware it all the way up to 6.0.1? Or do i need to do it version by version?

If your device got a full firmware for 6.0.1 then flash it, nothing to worry about it.
BTW, which phone?

Note 5 AT&T N920A.
I falshed using this >
https://forum.xda-developers.com/att-galaxy-note5/general/n920a-odin-firmware-n920aucs4cqb2-t3581129
It worked and fixed my phone as well with the logo looping.
Do you know, is there any methods at the moment to root my phone? I can't find it anywhere.

No idea about that.
Yes you could check AT & T Note 5 forum, if there's methods available then follow it and root your phone, otherwise stick with unrooted stock.
