Good luck as whn replacing the digitizer you will most likley break the LCD.
Where I work we have recently begun replacing digitisers on a number of HTC models, the Blackstone has a good success rate on average, we break the lcd in a few cases, the blackstone and diamond are the most difficult to replace sucessfully, we have found that carefully heating the digitiser helps to soften the double-sided adhesive tape used to stick the digitiser to the frame, and carefully using a thin blade, such as a scalpel or razor blade to separate them.
However it is a difficult process, and the risk of damage is quite high without specialist jigs and tools.
Good luck, and take it slowly and carefully.
...I insist
My opinion (i have replaced the screen successfully and I am familiar with transfer adhesives): if you are not a professional, don't replace the digitzer only but get a pre-assembled LCD+digitizer. it looks more expensive at the beginning, but at the end you'll save money AND time...
Hi. i just make this mistake, first i buy only digitaizer, i start change i broke the lcd, after i order the lcd only. i start fix together, everything ok, buth the digitaizer dont working. i conect everythink, 4 times i check and nothing, wath is the problem. i read manuals wath movies, and i dint find answer for my problem.
Please help.
yeh after getting the lcd and digi away from frame i made the mistake of peeling the digi off and finding out its got double sided sticky tape which will never look the same unless new sticky is aplied which i dont think we can do, so i bit the bullet and ordereed a pre asemmbled lcd and digi for £54
Any ideas how to glue preassembled lcd+digi to new housing? No sticky tape there.. maybe a link where can i buy such a thin tape.. cant find it in local stores

I live in UK
Cheers
I did the same the other day, ordered a new screen waiting for it to come. Bargain at £28. I think lying to them to get a new screen is a bit harsh behaviour its your fault you dropped it, and should be your responsibility to fix it at your own cost.
let me know about this screen is worth to buy if u get it , btw gorilla glass should protect the screen ...
what do you mean gorillas glass should protect the screen?
Yes I think its should ... if not so what is it for?
Yeah to a certain extent but its not indistructable, mine dropped from 5 foot onto a tiled floor, and the glass didn't break, just the screen underneath, which is pretty strong IMO.
Hello zinqzinq,
i have already swapped an lcd on my streak. easy to do. I have ordered my lcd also in china and quality was perfect...
some tips:
take attention to ALL cables, special the little cable for the buttons are sensitive.
remove Mainboard before removing lcd.
use a hair dryer to make double sided sticker, what will hold lcd in streak, warm before remove lcd
sure you will know what i mean, sorry for my bad english...
Good Luck

peace of mind QUESTION

Hi guys. Question for peace of mind.
I was installing a screen protector the other day. There are some dust that sticked under the screen protector so I lt some water run through it. i applied the screen protector back with little dew or droplets of water in it. (Like a wet install) Now im so paranoid that the water got between the the screen and it might break. What do you think?
Well if time passed, and it's still working, it should be okay ... unless some other parts got damaged, and you will only see later! I also got water on my phone many times, but it seems it doesn't do bad if it's not too much.
Why do you need water to apply that anyways? Just take it down, and put it again... or use a new one, they're really cheap.
How much water is needed for it to travel between the bezel and screen?
The water in the the screen protector are small circles of water.
I don't know. Do you mean the water is still in there? Why don't you get it out?
No, I decided not to put a screen protector after all.
BUT DURING the installation, i was pushing the bubbles out while there are small droplets of water inside. Is it enough for it to pass through the lining between the glass and metal lining?
Don't worry, water evaporates

Does it mean my galaxy s2 is safe since 2 days had passed using it and no problem showed up?
Am I just really paranoid?
Yes.

Probably
I have got my phone wet many times and have never experienced any problems. Besides, what can a few tiny droplets do? They have probably evaporated by now.
Huhu. Am I safd fron long term problems?
Yes, you surely are.

Can someone confirm this is a LCD/digitizer issue?

Hey there, here is an image of my gf's phone (my old one!) which i recently dropped quite hard onto concrete from about 4ft high. As you can see it's slowly dying, the pink-ish band has been coming down gradually over the past 24 hours.
My plan is to find a replacement LCD/digitiser screen and fit it to the phone. Will I need a new glass cover also? Has anyone else ever seen this and successfully repaired it?
Thanks!

If I'm correct is a screen problem
Definitely the digitizer.....
that is broken. Bought a replacement on ebay, about 100 dollars. Came as one unit, front w/glass, digitizer and connector tool and screwdriver. Fairly easy to replace. Look at youtube videos. That helps.
Be sure you get the right one. My softkeys are erratic at times. Might be the versoin that is wrong.
Any confirmation om that will be appriciated w or wo any hints to correct that.
thanks guys, gonna look for a kit now. Does anyone know if I can buy a second phone with for example, bad motherboard, and lift the whole screen and stuff from that one?
my pack arrived today, but there's a big plastic thing same shape as the screen, but like a big sticker with different cut outs. Is this the digitizer? Do I have to break open the fresh front panel? All the guides I've seen suggest otherwise, but I can't figure out for the life of me where it goes :/
just in case anyone was wondering... i never used the sticker thing. I followed iFixit directions and the phone is good as new. a snazzy white/blue hybrid!

Screen replacement

Hi,
I have a Z2 with a shattered front screen w/o touch working, and I'm thinking about replacing it myself, since I already got a new phone, and the old one will just lay unused untill it's throwed away. Therefore, I won't spend a lot of money on a repair when I can manage to do it my self. If was just wondering if this would be enough to replace the LCD and touch? I've watched a few tutorials on YouTube, and it seems to be enough, just wat to be sure before ordering anything.
Also, will a hairdryer be enough to remove back/screen? Or do I need a heatgun?

I have had a Ghost touch issue so I had to change the Digitizer. Yes, its easy to replace the touch screen by urself. I dint use any hair dryer or heat gun bt yes hair dryer will do the work. Go for it. Its a great deal. I got it very costly in India Rs. 4800 which is near to $75.

Thanks! I bought the screen and got it this Monday! Successfully replaced the screen today, but with three minor flaws. When I removed the back cover, I wasn't prepared for the battery to be stuck in it, so I used force and a little metal piece broke, I think is was a protector of some sort. The second flaw was the "glue" for the screen. I was a little unprecise, so some of the "glue" is visable outside the screen. Thirdly I forgot to place back the "batteryholder" the black thing that was around the battery before I put the backcover back on.
The phone and screen works, for now at least! I did this mostly for fun, so I won't be disappointed if it suddenly stops working
Thanks again!
Here I have attached picture of the failed glue and the metal thing that broke, and the thing I forgot to place before I put the backcover back on
