Bonus items from HTC - Taiwan only - HTC U Ultra Accessories

Hi guys,
I purchased my U ultra in Taiwan about 3 weeks ago. My cousin (who lives there) sent on a gift pack that I received as a result of the purchase of the phone.
It was presented nicely in a big box, (no pics cuz I asked him to dump it for shipping's sake).
Here are the items:

Case is made well, smells of rich leather. Has multiple card slots inside, with 2 larger full length slits, for folded bills, or receipts. On the rear of the case is another card slot, perfect for travel cards, or a tap and pay credit card.

Best of the three is the powerbank imo. Supports QC 3.0.

Very nice! I like that power bank.

is there anyway to get those for the international version I really wanna get both lol idc how much it is as long as its below 60$ case I just prefer HTC man equipment with my phone

Got mine from HK - got that pack too. Key chain, power bank with usb-A to usb-C cable & the leather flip case

Wizard case that takes credit cards

Has anybody found a credit card enabled Wizard case?
The closest I've seen is the Krusell case - www.krusell.se - but this is just too small...
This is seriously hampering my impulse gadget buying!

Not a good idea. If you have the credit cards next to the PDA the GSM transmitter could erase the magnetic stripe.
Not forgetting that the Wizard uses a magnet for rotating the screen...

Hmmm...I've been using an XDA2 for 2 years with credit cards in a Krusell case. Have not had any probs with demag of cards from GSM transmitter of XDA2...so why would this one?
Where is the magnet situated for landscape?
This too is the thing which is holding up my switch from xda2 to Wizard...hope somebody makes a case with that in mind.
To anyone in or out of the US, we have a show called mythbusters on the discovery/learning channel. They did a test on credit cards and found that it takes quite a bit to clear/damage the data on the mag strip (the new credit cards especially (ya know, anything past 1990)). Hope it helps!
the only magnetic strip i ever had that got erased by my phone was a room key at a hostel in Melbourne. Most hotels throw them away after one use, but this cheap hostel reused them to keep costs down and constant reprogramming made them tempermental. If I forgot and shoved that key into my pocket with my T28 I would have to get it reprogrammed everytime.
I had a magentic money clip which ate credit card strips if I dropped it onto the wrong pocket. Mind you, that was a long time ago, and it was a strong magent. I've always kept credit cards in the case next to my other XDAs without problems.
I've been using the Krussell case for the Wizard for a couple of months now, and it's great.
A really good clip and release mechanism, well crafted, and it now takes 3 credit cards after a bit of stretching. Easily the best case I've ever had.
I have had cards (lotsa cards with mag strip) in my wallet which also have a contact-less card. If you know the workings behind the contact-less card, you would know that there is a magnetic field on the reader that gives your card the power to process and send the signal. I think that would be much stronger than a mobile phone signal and also the freq would be much lower, hence easier to disstort any magnectic strip. However, I have been using the card for 2 years+ everyday and I don't have problems with my creditcards.
BTW, I've did a test on floppy disk on those magnetic telephone book (those that use two pieces of magnet as cover). And it seems impossible to erase the stuff on the disk. I guess you need a much stronger magnet.
Hello. I have used my wizard intensely for about an year or so and I am sad to say its looks are awfull now(i forgot to mention I work in sales and I have a very strong relationship with my phone). As I am from Bucharest, it is very hard for me to find a genuine original case, and not an aluminium or leather protective one. Is there any chance I could find one of those cases and what would the costs be?
Thanx

Credit card mag strip
Mythbusters proved that simple magnets (even neo) eel skin and a lot more things wont affect a magnetic strip. They ended up using a really strong electro magnet and only partially damaged the strip.
Here's one I wouldn't mind parting with.
This one works with the Cingular 8125
It has 2 SD card slots and 2 Credit Card slots on each side of the wallet section.
The only flaw in it is a rip on the side. But it still will function normally, to hold the device.
I would sell it to you for $10.00 US Dollars plus S/H.
If your interested, let me know.

[Q] BestBuy SUX, Got any better ideas ?

I went to BB to see what accessories they had.
Can you say "Zero"?
Really.. Not one single item relating to the X10.
They should call it iBestiBuy. It's "i" whatever from wall to wall.
Any other sites I should check out ?
I am concerned about getting a skin as some are loose fitting and I'd like to see them in person.
I live in Michigan, USA.
Try Expansys or Amazon.
ebay is also a good place to look. I get my stuff from there.

Maybe Google?
Seriously - there is no universal place with best selection and prices both. I used to buy accessories at buy.com, amazon.com, ebay.com, some other virtually noname online sellers I found by Google search. Don't like online? No problem - you can try this model in some brick-and-mortar store with crazy prices. And buy it online. Anyway everything is "Made in China". The only problem - returning. That really sucks. But for now I was lucky. Look - once I bought a case for SE k790 in ebay store of one HK seller and it didn't fit. I wrote, since the description claimed this model for k790/800 and they answered that they'll send me another one for free - anything I like. I checked measurement of the phone and found a model that should fit. It was around 1/2 more expensive, but they sent it without any returns. I was impressed and always check them first. But now look like they are out of business - no website, no ebay store and a lot of negative feedbacks. So it is a little risky, but after some research it worth.
I know how you feel. Especially since they have the exclusive white x10 then it only makes sense that they carry x10 accessories. But of course, Sony Ericsson really isn't that well known over here, so what you'd find would be for Apple and...probably that's it. Joking aside, yeah, its a bummer. have you tried amazon though?

Apple's case perfectly fits my X10. I bought it around a year before X10 photos were leaked over the web. I love Apple - they are able to predict many new tends.
I mean belt's case or pouch or whatever marketing freaks name it, not skin.
By the way, try to find a difference (except price and pressed brandname LUXMO inside or outside) between some in one store:
$0.60 + $2.98 shipping - Apple Iphone 4gb 8gb 16gb 32gb
$0.33 + $2.98 shipping - just iPhone
$0.57 + $2.98 shipping - Verzion Motorola Droid A855
$1.69 + $2.98 shipping - Samsung BlackJack i607 or BlackJack 2 i617
$1.12 + $2.98 shipping - Motorola q9m Q9c Q Q9h
$2.80 + $2.98 shipping - Apple iPhone 1st & 2nd Generation including 2g 3g (4gb/8gb/16gb/32gb) (AT&T -ATT)
I like their notes about the internal memory most of all - it is really universal case from 4Gb up to 32Gb!!! Wanna case for another model - wait a minute - our representative put the sticker... errr... sorry - find a case specifically for your model. This is how online works.
I think you'll find exactly this model in regular store for from $10 up to $25. And try how it feels.
Up here in Canada the only place I'm ever able to find cases fir my x10 are at flea markets and sometimes at cellphone kiosks in the malls here.

As of this month I have purchased the following accessories.
2 car chargers from Radio Shack, the cheaper ones.
1 windshield holder from ebay seller in Hong Kong. It has a short bent arm. Not good with very steep slopes. Phone needs to be plugged in when used as GPS so limited positions with car charger. Blocks view in smaller cars. I would rather have the one with the flexible arm instead for more possibilities.
2 Belkin usb to micro retractable cords. Microcenter
1 soft silicone case totally covers the sides of phone save camera and speakers and projects out 1/8th inch from screen like bumper. It's nice but the phone could be any phone. EBAY
1 hard rubber snap-on case with cutouts for buttons, camera and speakers. Finish on mold edges is not good. EBAY

I've ordered one of these, but it hasn't arrived from Korea yet:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/141179770720
I'm very much hoping that this (which I also ordered, already received, and works great so I'll probably be getting another one for my desk) will fit into it, and I'm pretty sure it will:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00F6SPYJS/
If not, I'll just order the official LG charger to fit in the dock. It's not much more expensive.
Also, check out the Car Dock Thread. There is some discussion of wireless docks in there:

I did a diy a while back (couldn't justify spending 50+ on one) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2537590
Still working perfectly to this date.

Has anyone tried Zerolemon extended battery for Galaxy Note 3? Is it good?
iBolt qi wireless charging dock build
Here's my build post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=49542102&postcount=224
This is a copy of the post I did for the same topic when I had a Nexus 4 about 9 months back. I also used this setup for my Galaxy S4 and now I'm using it for my Note 3.
I just finished installing my Smart Fit2 (model TCD-C800P). There are plenty of pictures of it and a link to order on the thread for LG WCP-300, but I mounted it on a different base. It was designed to hold the WCP-300 Qi charger, but works fine just as a mount with no charger, and is inexpensive. I paid $19.95 including shipping and I think it's a few bucks less right now.
The base I used is a 17mm ball adapter on a PanaVise vehicle specific mount that fastens to the dash frame behind the radio trim. That part took about 10 minutes to install and used the existing radio screws/holes. The metal bracket fits without any noticeable gap in the trim. I picked this method to keep the phone in easy reach, out of the windshield, and as a bonus it's where I can aim an air vent at it if the charger starts to warm the phone up too much.
If you want to do this in your car you can save from 5 to 10 dollars by looking up your dash bracket on the PanaVise web site, then order it through Amazon.
The WCP-300 charger is $40 from a Verizon store or from their web site, shipping is free.
Not only did the pictures disappear, but when I COPIED the original post the XDA app evidently deleted the entire original post, and the app won't let me insert a new picture, I think they want me to buy the premium app.
Just use your imagination.

Granted it has been 6 weeks or so since I looked, but back in October or November the supply of the SmartFit2 dried up. They went from >$20 to <$100. Great concept, but the dock has been unavailable.
UPDATE: Just Googled this, and I guess a supply must have been located in Korea. Available on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=LG+WCP-300+Smart+Fit2&_sop=15
There is a great youtube video on how to use the inexpensive koolpuck in place of the more expensive one from LG: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZTNAPp2UkkI
In the end it makes a nice clean wireless charging car dock.
this was my take on in-car wireless charging...

Ebay was where I found the Smart Fit dock, and mine finally arrived from Korea a couple of days ago (it took just under 3 weeks to reach me here in the US). The Power Bot charger I bought ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00F6SPYJS ) fits perfectly, and it was clearly designed to do so. The dock seems pretty sturdy and holds the phone securely. The Note's size makes it a little awkward to reach the release button, but I've almost gotten the hang of releasing the phone with one hand without dropping it.
Incidentally, that charger appears to be a generic model sold under a number of names, including Power Bot, MuchBuy, DigiYes, and Koolpuck. The unit and packaging look to be identical, whichever name it is sold under. I haven't had any problems with it and now that mine is installed in my car, I'll be buying another one for my desk.

Micro USB 3 OTG Cable for a penny

First post so please don't shoot me but long time lurker.
Love my 12.2 and glad I didn't get the 10.1 2014 edition I originally intended.
Anyways, I came across this deal and wanted to share with everyone
http://www.amazon.ca/IVSO-Micro-Sam...ref=lh_ni_t?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3GTVEGDRUYMSL
I've never heard of them but for a penny why not. Yes it is short but I don't need a longer one...
Update -
Ordered and free shipping since i signed up for prime which I will cancel. Will post a review when i see it at the end of may lol...meh no rush for me on it.
Update 2 -
Part arrived in a lovely grey envelope, wrapped in beautiful bubble wrap and encased in a blister pack Scissors required.
The connection is a little snug for my liking but the device does work as advertised. It recognized my 500GB WD My Passport Ultra formatted in exFAT perfectly.
9/10 because of the snug fit, packaging (hate blister packs)
*should get a y-adapter version for longer needs when I need power*
