Collecting money for the person who'll have a proper root for H860s - LG G5 Questions & Answers

After almost 1 year later it seems like no one's interested about rooting h860s on the market so I was thinking maybe we can collect some money from all the H860 users around the world and give the money who roots the H860 first. I don't see anything illegal about doing this on this website... What do you think guys?

Good idea, but we need the guarantee that the person or team that happens to pass our LG G5 H860 (H860N for me) in ROOT mode to make this gift and that also it is a guarantee to have the said sum

You're right. We need a authorized collector. That's why I choose this forum because they had a bounty system for rooting G5s before. Maybe they can accept this project too. Otherwise we need to take a look at some other websites which gurantees giving the collected money to the person or group.

So in this case we need to know how much money they'll ask from us for the rooting process. If there's no one else who'll do the process cheaper we can start to collect money for them let's say in couple weeks. But we also have to be sure that person/team will release the root in a reasonable time otherwise we'll have to refund all collected money to people who have donated before.

rooting is a process to find a bug in firmware. you can't be sure, that this bug exist (or qualification of any person enough to find it).
so better to buy unlocked phone from beginning (like google's own)

You can call your service provider and have them unlock it
they have to unlock it if you request
Nice try though
First of all not all providers give you the unlock code. Even if they do they have contract terms and conditions which have to be satisfied before they give you the unlock code like you must have completed 6 months of the contract..
Secondly the unlock code wont be available to you instantly, you must wait for 15 days to 1 month before you get the code.
Third :- You must be the owner of the phone + contract for them to give you the code ( This is where most people miss out)
its a shame to put advertisement like this in a forum that consists of people trying to get this same feature for free ...
you should share the info or just go to e-bay !

Whilst I may agree with you, this same argument is raised every time a new HTC phone is released and Tupisdin offers a paid for unlock for it.
You have the choice to not take him up on his offer and wait for a free version to be created; he simply offers a service for those who need it now.
you and many others...
funny he got the phone whilst it not even being released..
i'd probably better off ignoring this
you are so right
guys plz don't take this one like the diamond one.
the money charged by tupisdin is going to the forum and not into his pocket, so that's generous.
well if thats the case i'll pay directly to the forum show him the confirmation note and he can give it to me freely then?
People this is legit, the moderators and admin know about this and the only currency changing hands goes directly to the forum as a donation.
END of story.

well if thats the case then there is no issue with me giving the money directly to the site and getting the unlock. why complicate things?
I dont actually need an unlock but this guys has been just about as shady as the European Unions financial records, we should have access to all details of the transfers of this money....if he is to be believed that is.

theres no free lunch today , not even, you have seen many free solutions, but not this one, if you are in a hurry and dont want to pay, ha ha ha you have to forget about unlocking raphael, its too new and, very expencive to unlock at this time. thats the life just get over it. and dont forget about all the free stuff xda-dev has given you.
and i know tupisdin is a real gentleman and already helped loads of xda-dev members. and you can trust him 100% to get your raphael unlocked
you know, a few years ago that was exactly why this forum existed to HELP people do this stuff, funny thing is people still donated money because it was a great place to be, that was back in the day when folk were trying to get thinks like WM05 running on WM2003se, or 2003 running on 2002, buz lightyear did some fantastic work and never asked for a penny, people donated to him and im sure folk have given him old devices as well.
That has changed, sadely, perhaps we need an XDA developers pro or something because this is not the place it originally designed as
buzz
buzz............ capitol, grand expert and man.
What I have been asking, how is Tupisdin getting the unlock codes? Is he working for htc, or does he have a calculator or something...

And i very much doubt you will get an answer.
I have no doubt he either works for HTC, or knows someone who does, like many others here who currently do or have in the past.
But the bottom line is, that he is able to sim unlock them, he charges for it which he then donates to xda-devs. if you do not want to pay, then don't. Wait until someone else creates a free version.
As for things having changed, maybe not so much. the number of people who donate or try and help is still tiny compared to the number of people who come here and leech, and flame, and ***** when they kill their device cos they didn't read the instructions properly. and sadly the number of people like this has increased dramatically over the last few years as these devices get more popular.
And besides, for most of the guys here who develop stuff (like Olipro, Cmonex, schaps and many others), they work damn hard so why the hell shouldn't they get a little something for it? Would you go to work and expect not to get paid??
OK everyone has said thier piece, nothing has been on topic since I requested it to be so sorry folks, thread over........tupisdin you can create another one if you so wish but it seems the majority of people want a free ride!? shame really.
Thread Closed.

Paid Sim Unlock?

Hey Im sure it may have been brought up before but I didnt find much in the search area.
I dont want a fight or two I just figured XDA Dev was all about modding/flashing/unlocking PDA/Smartphones? Why is there no free unlocking kit? Also all the paid versions go directly to the XDA forum web site and not into anyone elses pocket?
Dont misunderstand im not here to ***** about whats going on but I thought thats what this site was about - Developing -. If the site really needs help with donations and thats the whole point of this then thats fine. I just remember back in the HTC Wizard days it was all for fun.
Anyhow I'm about to e-Gay a fuze right now im pretty excited and as always keep up the good work XDA
best regards,
eddy
wrong subforum, and this HAS been gone over 100s of times, so why did you even bother posting this useless thread?
have you tried here?
Yeah I visited that website but it doesn't mention that its going towards the forums. Is it going 100% towards the developer? I know it says Donation I was just wondering. If the developer wants money for the software thats fine if people want the phone unlocked they will pay it.
I was just asking this because Its always been a free community from what I remember.
best regards,
eddy
*shrug* They have good rules, I like em.
1) If you give back to the community, they give you it for free -- so if you're a 'developer' or just plain help, they help you
2) SIM locked or locked, most apps don't care what SIM card is in there
From what I saw from the thread, they just want to charge 'free loading' users for their work, while still allowing community members/participants free services.
Props to them, IMO, They gave me a free unlock and I still donated.
am not really sure if you get the idea or the concept of developing an idea. but im pretty sure youd agree that any developer can do whatever they wish with what they develop irregardless of whatever community you can enumerate. unfortunately, the developer as he says:
"you want a free SIM Unlock right? well tough ****, there's no such thing as a free lunch... if you want to get something, you need to give something."
the developer has developed a sim unlocker for free for the the hermes (of which i have used) and probably its about time he gets compensated for what he deserves.
Tough **** indeed.

Anyone fool enough to talk to potential customers in that manner deserves NOTHING. If he's that much of a jerk in general, what's going to happen when you need customer service? Is someone that speaks to the public in that manner someone you wish to trust?
There are cheaper solutions on ebay and they won't treat you like garbage.
This has been discussed several times.
BTW. Olipro has unlocked a whole lot of devices, most of them for free, he developed custom SPLs which allow us to flash any ROM to almost any device.
The so called Hard-SPLs always have been provided for free.
Which is amazing, this will allow us to truly customize our devices, be grateful for that, there are only few who can accomplish this patching of the bootloaders, and make flashing relatively safe!
Mostly the n00bs and the non-contributers have been *****ing @ him, mainly because lately the SIM unlock isn't free for them.
And this is something I don't understand: if you buy a locked phone it is heavily subsidized, you pay less for the device BECAUSE it is locked.
The small donation that is asked for the non contributing part of the community is peanuts in regards to the actual cost of a non-cloked device.
So even if you have to pay for the unlock: your device is still way cheaper than if you bought the unlocked device to start with.
Olipro's unlock method works even if the carrier relocked the device, you can't say that from the code sellers (they have only the HTC codes, not the carrier codes if they changed it).
And it also gives you the opportunity to secure-unlock the device and change the CID.
Nobody else is offering this.

Bootloader Unlock Reward $400

I will pay whatever developer or person who can crack the bootloader on the nook tablet 400$. This offer is open until 12/4/2011 as I have to return my NT on Monday if nothing happens.

December 4th is an impossible deadline dude.
Another Proposal
add 5 bucks to be given by each person who quotes this post, meaning that they accept and are willing to donate $5 to the developer or person who cracks the bootloader before december 4th
Seriously guys, we can't set a deadline on this as 1) December 4th is a bit ridiculous and 2) Money shouldn't even be involved. It makes people dev for a device for the wrong reasons. Stop making bounties, it's a waste of money and time.

Does it really matter how we come by an unlocked bootloader? If its paid for, will you not use it?
I'll add $100 to said bounty. PayPal paid.

It means the developers will always expect to be paid and that is flat out wrong. I will never dev for ONLY cash. I do it for the betterment of the device and the community. If people donate that's up to them but I dont come to work on a device specifically for money.
It shouldn't matter to you why another person develops for a device. That is a personal decision for each individual developer not the community.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The point is to give everyone some added incentive to get it done in 7 days. I am sure its impossible but maybe the extra cash will bring in some people who crack bootloaders from other devices that have theories and thing to try. No one is forcing anyone to try and break it in 7 days, but if someone does then 400$ is their reward
Here's a thought, and I am by no means a genius, but why don't you return your NT, take that $250 + your $400 and buy a better device? Thats what I would do if I had the money to blow, just an idea
I think people who don't know what they're talking about think that you can just brute-force a bootloader key. If a bootloader is locked, there's very little that you can do.
The security features of the bootloader and key it is checking for are programmed into the chip with a one-time-programmable e-fuse. The feature is specifically designed so that it can never be disabled, and therefore the only way around it is getting or figuring out B&N's private signing key

Exactly. It doesn't matter how high you set the reward. The fact remains that a bootloader key is by most means impossible to figure out. Unless of course you make a mistake like Sony did with their PS encryption.
What I really meant was donations, and kind of a prize for the person who does it! and finally unlocks the bootloader.
An alternative

There is of course an alternate course, which I am personally seriously considering (my clock runs out on Nov 30):
Return the Nook Tablet, and buy another if/when someone achieves an "independent" boot from an SDcard. By "independent" I mean that it's able to boot anything (including a copy of B&N 1.4) solely from the SDcard (eg, the ramdisk does not reference the internal memory (except for the /rom details, like the MAC address).
I agree that cracking the signed bootloader scheme is not as easy as some seem to think (based on thirty years of working in the embedded software field myself). However, what IS easy is returning it, and moving to one of the inexpensive but quite decent tablets that are now out in the market. Eg, after buying the Nook Tablet eleven days ago, I bought an Acer A500 a week later, and couldn't be more pleased. Even though I haven't rooted the A500, it does pretty much everything I need as stock (running the Samba app, which requires root, is the exception). That's more than I can say for the Nook Tablet, even though I've rooted the latter (eg, the B&N eMail and Gallery applications are garbage). The nice thing about the NT is the battery life.
not overseas

I think you are missing the point of this post:
The point is to get MORE people here than our ONE dev to try. All it takes is 1 mistake to break a bootloader and it happens occasionally. If you do not want to participate then please by all means DON'T and stop complaining.
I am fully aware, as everyone else, that the bootloader probably will not be broke in the next 7 days. Everyone should be loudly applauding my attempt to get more devs involved instead of flaming away here and in the other forum about my decision to offer a reward.
I am so going to laugh when someone from left field comes and figures this out while all of you are still complaining. Maybe it should be made a private fix just for me until people come and apologize for the flaming? (I'm not that way and I wouldn't do that, but I know a lot of people that wouldn't put up with the crap I am getting).

I think it's just the ridiculousness of the whole scenario. Why would you piss away $400 on top of the $250 bucks you already spent on the NT, ultimately spending $650 dollars on it, just to get other devs to come in on the project. Take that 650, wait a little bit and get the new Transformer Prime, that thing is freakin sweet. Just my 2 cents, but to each his own.

Well... it is my money and it is my tablet. As i have already explained 3 times I loved the Nook Color and want to love the Nook Tablet. I love the personalization available on the Nook Color and if that was possible on the Nook Tablet it would be EASILY worth it to me. Honestly your opinion about how I spend my money isn't even worth the two cents you are offering.
Once again I don't understand people. I am making an offer to get MORE dev's to come and help us and all people do is complain... how is that helping? even if the bootloader reward fails and i return my NT, you guys are the winners because maybe more devs will show than the ONE we have now.

Bounty for a ROM?

The first half of the year is pretty much over. There has been absolutely no noise about the update from Huawei. Our beloved Tom hasn't had the chance to work on our phone for about 4 months now. Things are not looking good for our phone.
Shall we try and start a bounty for CM? Whoever decides to take on the challenge wouldn't be starting from scratch anyway. However, I do feel terrible suggesting this as I do not have a PayPal account or a credit card or anything like that. I don't know how I could donate, and gifting apps or Google Play credit isn't a thing.
Or shall we just wait since we've already waited this long? I really want to believe that Huawei is not dense enough to cancel the update again, but I'm not sure what to think anymore.
What shall we do?

I have a paypal and google account and I would pay a hefty sum to have CM on my HAM2. Maybe $150
I suggested this about half a year ago but then Huawei promised Lollipop update so nobody paid enough attention to CM.
Here's the CM thread: http://forum.cyanogenmod.org/topic/101462-huawei-ascend-mate-2-mt2l03-device-request/
There are not that many request. Most rely on Huawei promise.

I bet the Huawei devs are waiting on the CM devs to do the work for them. Or maybe the other way around. Why reinvent what works or is the easiest (most efficient) way to so something? So we all end up waiting.... LOL!

Tom actually said that he needed files from Huawei's update to continue with CM, so I wouldn't hold your breath. He got a lot of stuff working but something is too outdated (go figure) to get it to a usable state.

Bounty for root S7 qualcomm..variants (Bounty at $300)

Well I'd like to see a true root for S7 not this engboot crap
just being able to run stuff as root has no development as people won't make roms around a boot image
I'm pledging 50 bucks as a bounty for anyone that manages to achieve true root (unlocked bootloader)
Where we can do the normal root stuff like install twrp/roms etc...
If anyone's interested in this and would care to make a pledge please message me so I can start making a list and total $
to increase the "interest" of devs and stuff
Hopefully we'll see something in the future
Pledges:
Kikusz - $50
beatbreakee - $50
twizt3d - $50
funnjng - $25
MK38MOD0 - $100
destroyer557 - $25
I'm in ... I'm on Sprint, but count me for $50 as well
Man I would donate if I could but I'm just not in a spot to do so right now, it would be a miracle because I'm bored out of my mind right now
I don't see this going anywhere, but I'm good for 50 if it does within a reasonable amount of time
Ill put in $25

well if nobody helps then devs dont take interest..
To me seems the higher the money the more *interested* they become in doing something about it
That's mainly why I started this thread
If anyone needs somebody to test different method I don't mind letting my phone be the test dummy pm me if you want to make a deal
Im down for $100.00 ATT g930a.
I'll pledge $25
This is really catching on
Has anyone gotten this done?
Started back in April... New phones out, and more new devices on the horizon. I have come to terms with a locked bootloader from Samsung. I'll stand by my pledge, but I don't see this going anywhere. I'll hold out till April 2018 but if we're over a year, I don't think the interest will hold personally.
Can I still throw my name in the hat? I'm down for $25.
I've got 42 on it. Within a reasonable amount of time, of course. G935A. Qual. Snap.

$100.00
Anyone try to get the phone into Qualcomm mode and flash a China s7 loader Img as our problem is the secure download , since Qualcomm mode is used to re partition the phones file systems and then try to unlock the bootloader as in other forums
Let's go for $33.33!
I used to develop an App which requires root for my own purpose, and I cannot reuse my code!
