Nexus 6 smart cover issue - Nexus 6 Accessories

Hello, I'm trying to make a smart cover from a cheap flip cover. The magnetic sensor inside the Nexus 6 is in a weird position (top center, in the middle of the clock) but that's fine. However it doesn't work correctly. If the phone is on and unlocked and i place a magnet over there the phone locks, and that's ok... But even if i don't touch anything after 10 seconds it turn on again for about 5 seconds... Then it goes off for 10 seconds, then on for 5, then off for 10... That's a real battery killer! I've tried different magnets (even some powerful neodymium magnets) but the issue remains. Any advice? I'm on stock 7.0 by the way, only bootloader unlocked and nothing else. Thank you!

Phone freezing with flip wallet after display replacement

Hi!
My one month old S6 Edge fell down last week and the front glass broke. However I used the phone normally until today when I got the display replaced in a store. With an original out of the box display from Samsung. After that I noticed that the back and app key (the lowest touch buttons one the front) did not light up at all, although they did work. When I put the phone in the flip wallet cover it went dark and did not respond anymore. I could here it getting emails or phone calls but the screen kept black. I pushed Volume Down and Off buttons until it restarted, with normal screen (the touch buttons also lit up for a second) but after loading normally the screen went black again. If I took it out of the wallet cover it lit up, the two keys also lit up, but the keys did not work at all. Again forced restart. Without the wallet cover the phone starts normally and works except that the touch buttons stay black, but they work. The moment I insert it into the cover it goes black.
It must have something to do with the magnet sensor?!
I took it back to the store, the guy put back the brocken screen and it acted again the same. Then he ordered the USB Board (the part with the charging port) just in case he may have broken it himself but actually he doesn't know if that will help.
Do you have any idea??
Thanks!

Phone Locks Immediately After Unlocking

Has anyone else had this happen to them?
I was playing Deep Dungeons of Doom (ftw), then the screen suddenly turned off and locked. So I unlocked it, but as soon as I put in my code the screen shut off and locked again. It wouldn't stop. So I had to force a reboot. When the phone came back on, I unlocked it and sure enough it locked again. I did this again but put in the code slowly (I'm using the swipe lock). Then it unlocked properly. Seems to be working properly so far...
Anyone else experience this?
Me too...
Hi!
My phone has the same behavior (screen goes on and off randomly).
It does look like we are not the only one since people opened a topic on OP forum: https:// forums.oneplus.net/threads/screen-lock-issue-oneplus-x.404960/
Does it still happen on your side?
See ya!

I recently installed MasterAwesome's CM 12 ROM and no longer have the issue (at least not yet).

Never mind... It just happened again. :/
I just realized something. The screen lock issue only seems to happen when the phone goes into landscape, specifically when you turn it to the left (camera on the left side, capacitive keys on the right). I can reproduce the issue by playing a game which forces landscape orientation (sword of xolan, cytus). The issue happens every time, within a minute of playing. However, when I start the game and hold the phone in the opposite position (capacitive keys on the left, camera on the right), it works perfectly well. The screen does not shut off and lock by itself.
I have no idea if it is the same with others.
I guess I had this issue while playing NFS no limits

I know this is an old thread, but I just thought I should add an update. I know what the issue was. It was the magnetic sensor. I have the OP case with the flip cover. When I have the cover folded back behind the device, and the device is put into landscape and then you adjust the volume, it would shut the screen down as though I had closed the cover. If i take the phone out of the case the issue does not occur. I can replicate the issue again and again with the case on and the cover folded back.
So there you have it. If you have the same issue, try taking the cover off.
I just ordered a new spigen case. One without a cover.
Having this issue with my one plus 3t
I don't have a magnetic cover it seems to occur when I plug in head phones earphones are fine but videos on youtube will freeze but once even after resetting it was locking and unlocking so wiped data ?
My phone is samsung J4 and as soon as i unlocked it, it turns off and locks again. This has been going again and again for quite a while and Im confused because i dont usually play games like the other cases mentioned here. Please reply if u know a solution or atleast think of it as a solution.

False battery flat power off

Hi.
My z4 lte has recently started shutting down without warning after displaying the flat battery icon. This happens even if the battery has over 80% charge. The tablet reboots normally if left for a few minutes and on restart will show the same battery level as before the shut down. This is happening more and more frequently.
Any ideas or suggestions?
Thanks.

This is definitely a defect battery. Have the same problem on my tablet Z4 and before already twice on Xperia Z1compact. The phone battery was replaced the second time now. With new battery no problems anymore. (seems to last arround 2 year, then it starts again. Looks like poor battery management by Sony )
Only solution: replace battery!
Sadly the only way is by disassembling the display:
https://de.ifixit.com/Anleitung/Sony+Xperia+Z4+Tablet+Repairability+Assessment/79131
Did anyone managed this successfully without breaking the screen? I replaced a broken screen on my Tablet Z and its true, they are really delicate and new screen is ~250 Euro! (Battery ~50 Euro incl. glue).
(By the way: the Tablet Z battery is still fine, and even if, it would be accessible through back cover. Was really the best tablet by Sony. @Sony: WHERE IS THE SUCCESSOR of TABLET Z4??? How about skipping at least once this useless "every 6 month a worse phone" cylce (XZ2: :crying: :silly: ) and develop instead a new tablet!? )

Since my battery became almost unusable, I took the risk to replace battery myself.
And it was successfull!
Here some hints:
First of all: Make sure you have good tools, mainly:
Only use a very thin and a bit flexible opening tool (I used iPlastix tool, the plastic version)
Use a good heatgun with small opening adapter (< 1cm). Make sure the heatgun can be set to low temperatures, I strongly suggest one that can be set to exact values (In my case "Steinel HL 2020E", can be configured from 80 degree upwards in 10 degree steps)
Build yourself some kind of stand for your heatgun that you can heat the display while having both hands free (I used a small camera tripod and tape)
If you do not have ordered the new adhesive yet, use a internet photo of it to see where the adhesive is located and how deep it reaches. (the edge where adhesive does not reaches edge is headphone jack). Choose a spot with thin adhesive (not an edge) to start.
Heat up this spot (in my case: heatgun on 90 degree celsius, 5 cm distance from outlet to surface) and while still heating, carefully insert opening tool. Do not use force, heat longer if needed. Than slowly move around the tab by heating and dragging your tool. (here the mentioned stand for heatgun helps a lot). After you opened some way, insert a thin piece of platic to prevent adhesive from reattaching.
Again: NO FORCE. When old adhesive is warm enough, you can easily "cut" it with your tool. If you still feel resistance, you need to heat more. (on spots with larger adhesive areas I switched to 100 degree). When you are around, the display should be able to lift, if not, heat again remaining spots and use opening tool until screen can easily be detached. (never bend/pull) There is not adhesive in middle of display, only at corners as you see on new adhesive.
The opening itself was surprisingly easy. More annoying was to remove the old adhesive remainings. I tried isopropylalkohol, but it did not help much. Most of it was removed with some plastic blade, mooving/scratching/pusching permanently against the end of the adhesive trail. It takes time, but it removes it in 0.1 mm steps (maybe someone has a better idea).
Make sure that you work on good mat/base that you can put force without bending screen. I had some sticky but flat remainings on display surface, but this should not be problem.
Removing battery adhesive: use colored edge of pull tab ONLY to grab it. As soon as the white part gets visible drag always on the part that is just coming out behind battery. The first tab teared for me because I did it wrong and it was difficult to remove the remaining. The second tab could be removed completely with ease. (How to detach the cabling, see the youtube teardown videos)
At this step I suggest to replace the main camera lense if the lense coating is broken (as usually on Sony ). Do not remove lense from inside, only the round part gets replaced. Heat up lense and push from inside outwards! (see attached photo)
Replace pull tabs and battery, reconnect cable and TEST tablet before attaching new adhesive! (you may use sony test menu by calling *#*#7378423#*#* in phone app)
Another tricky part is to apply the new adhesive. You have only one chance, as soon as the adhessive touches a surface it sticks, if you try to detach it again it will stretch and stay stretched, so better don't try. Seems the adhesive has to be applied to display first, so detach cable of display, test carefully how to hold and handle before removing plastic covers of adhesive and then: good luck... (Result was "almost" ok in my case. If result is tolerate able, keep it that way. Trying to change again will just worsen the result. Cut parts sticking out display edges)
Reconnect remaining display cable, test functionality again and glue the other side.
Congratulations, you got 2-3 years more of tablet lifetime. Lets hope the guys at Sony get it done to bring a successor until then...
I succeded open my tablet and replace battery.
Now it does not power up.
The red led is lighten up, blinking 4 times, ligten up again and the went off. Repeating again and again after some while.........
I cannot get in touch with the tablet again. I cannot see anything broken or destroyed by open it.
Is the led an error code?
Is there any reset button hidden somewhere?
Sorry to hear ?
Did you tried hard reset? (Press Volume up + Power for more than five seconds)
What happens if you boot to FastBoot, does USB connection shows up on computer at least?
Is device charging?
Is screen backlight starting? (Try in dark room, you should see at least a little lightning if backlight switches on)

Huawei Nova 5T Proximity sensor problem

I have a problem. It's the Nova 5T. It was bought on the of this month and I was not able to follow the situation as it was on Android 9 / EMUI 9.1 or 10.0 because EMUI 10.1 arrived soon! It literally went uodate for an update! I don't even know how I noticed, but there is a problem with the proximity sensor. Namely, when the phone is in a horizontal position, for example on a desk, and a call is in progress, the proximity sensor does not respond, ie the phone turns on the screen regardless of the proximity sensor being covered and in that case it should keep the screen off. In a horizontal position and a little when the phone is lifted, a few millimeters, the sensor does not seem to be covered by a finger, it does not react but the screen is on, which should certainly not happen. I tried with a hard reset but everything is the same. Can you tell me, how is it with you who have this phone? I wonder, is this a possible bug in EMUI 10.1, is it a normal function in EMUI 10.1 or is the proximity sensor on the phone simply broken? In case I do the same only the other way around, then I turn the phone screen towards the floor, e.g. I cover the proximity sensor with my finger and hold the phone horizontally. The phone and sensor respond normally and the phone screen does not light up during a call. Let me note that the proximity sensor in the upright position of the phone, for example when the call takes place and the phone is on the ear, normally turns off the screen and everything is fine. The phone is not as agile as the carousel rotates in different slits, poses and angles to test its correctness, this problem was noticed quite by accident. If someone has this phone, it would be helpful for me to write if it is the same with him or if there is a problem in my phone! I would ask someone from Huawei to answer me. Sorry for my poor English. Thank you

How tilted your S Pen is that your phone can detect?

Hi guys I'm recently switched to n20u and found some problems with my pen. As mentioned above if I tilt the pen as the way I use my ink pen with my notebook (ab 45 degrees) with palm touched the screen I can't draw anything (still detected as a currsor). I once used note4 and as the best of my memory I was capable of doing so with my note4 idk if this is a problem or not. Another problem is that if I draw quickly the line (actually curve) is interrupted (not a continuous curve but 2 or more curves). Do you face these problem? I'm intending to send it back warranty. Thank you
Not normal, at least on the N10+... just tested that. The spen on the N20U should work better than the 10+'s.
New N10+ N975U 256/12 gb are still available. I grabbed one 4 months ago. They run very well and come loaded with Android 10.
