Are there any heavy duty cases with a built-in screen protector? - Samsung Galaxy S8 Accessories

I've been using a heavy duty case with built-in screen protector on my phones for the last few years. Because of the nature of my work having the screen protector built into the case is important, I only use the case at work and I hate using stick on screen protectors on my phones since they're not needed for normal use. I've been trying to find a heavy duty case with built-in screen protector for the S8+ but they all come without the screen protector, I'd guess it's because of the curved screen. Does anyone know if there will eventually be versions that come with the screen protector? Or if there are some cases with the screen protector that I haven't found yet?

Lifeproof has their case and it's waterproof, but expensive @ $80! Also, you can look at the Love Mei cases and can buy them from ebay or amazon. :good:
http://www.lovemeicase.com/index.php?route=product/category&path=87_207

I have good experiences with love mei powerful and otterbox defender cases on past phones.
the otterbox defender is a plastic hard case with an additional silicone case wrapped around it, and an integrated plastic screen protector.
the otterbox usually also comes with a clip that can be used as a holster or kickstand.
the love mei powerful is basicly a DIY kit for making your phone an "active" model.
it's a metal case with a silicone bumper sandwiched between the front and back plates, held together by screws.
the screen protector is glass glued to the front metal plate, and all holes are covered or sealed to offer basic splash and dust resistance.
if you're looking for a case you only use for work and take off at home i'd recommend the otterbox, it's the easiest to take off.

Can confirm it does. I have it, it definitely feels like a sturdy commuter or a unicorn bettle case

No it doesn't. I have one too.

I have the otterbox defender for the S8 (not the +). I can confirm that the otterboxes for both the S8 and S8+ DO NOT have built in screen protectors. While every previous versions of these cases did, and they gave no indication prior to the release date of the phone that they wouldn't (including on their website when they started shipping them, I preordered mine when I ordered my S8), the new version "is screenless to allow full use of the curved screen", and otterbox tells you to buy one of their alpha glass screen protectors at $50/pop if you want a screen protector.
If you check Otterbox's website you'll see the myriad of 1-star reviews for their S8 cases over this issue, as they basically bait-and-switched everyone who preordered the Defender, and are now saying "Give us more money to have your screen protected."
I'd steer clear of the Otterbox for that reason. If you don't need the holster, the Lifeproof is probably your best way to go. If you do need the holster... Well then, I don't know what to tell you. Perhaps an Otterbox with an added screen protector, though the ones I've tried don't fit well. Or get the Lifeproof and add a belt clip to it. The one Lifeproof sells has some mixed reviews, but you can probably aftermarket add one that would work, or just use an old fashioned holster-type slip case.

Anyone can recommend me any cases for the S8, with a built in screen protector? All the ones you mentioned here are not released yet. Plus I've done research before the S8 released, and the day the S8 released, and I was unable to find any cases with a built in screen protector, that wss already released. All the info I can get is greatly appreciated!

I just came across Punkcases this morning. They have a few different versions of cases. One of them has a built in screen protector, and is certified water, snow and dustproof, and also military grade. I just purchased mine this morning a few minutes ago. I thought I would share here, since you're also in need of a case with the built in screen protector.
The reviews on their website, for this specific case, seems to be very good. I have yet to try one out myself though. But as soon as I receive mine I will let you know how it is. I chose expedited shipping when I ordered this morning. By the way, I already broke my S8 while in an OtterBox Defender case, and had to get a replacement from insurance(arriving today). But to me, OtterBox cases are complete BS, and the case broke in one day. Not to mention, after the S8 and the OtterBox case both broke. My dog got a hold of the OtterBox case and was able to rip off the side bumpers, and rip the case in half, in literally seconds. That's how bad, and crappy Otterbox cases are, that they're able to rip in seconds! It's supposed to be very durable and resist a lot! I honestly thought it would be tough as nails, and resist a dog messing and biting with it for awhile before it got damaged! Not seconds!
But I leave you with a link here on the bottom, directly to the case I purchased. which has a built in screen protector.

My S7 edge just got bricked last week and so, having nothing to lose, I thought I'd test the case. It's an Otterbox. I'm not sure of the name but it's fairly thin looking. I was honestly expecting poor results but throwing it about 2m high and 3m forward onto cement left it without a scratch. I did it about 7 or 8 times.

Looks interesting but I can't see on the website how you install it. It also looks like you would have to disassemble it whenever you need to change the SIM or MicroSD. I travel abroad every month or two and have to change my SIM every time.
When you have it, can you also check if it is wireless charging friendly?

Otterbox Defender with Screen Protector Available in the UK?
This is my first time here... I found this thread because I too, am searching for the best of the best case for my Galaxy S8.
I was sitting on a flight from the UK to New York 3rd week of June 2017, next to a woman who had an Otterbox Defender for her Galaxy S8 and it had a Otterbox OEM built in screen protector. The quality of the plastic appeared to look and feel like the same plastic they have always used in the defender model.
I had previously read the threads from various sites on this case because I have always used the defender since my galaxy S about 7 phones ago and was going to upgrade my S7 to the S8 soon. I was actually searching for case info while on the flight. Anyway, I had read that the new Defender for the S8 came without screen protection.
I had a discussion with her and she told me that bought the case at a street shop in Glassgow that sold many things other than phones so it was not a dedicated phone store. I howevr, have not been able to locate one even on international websites. There is no mention of this on Otterbox's website and I neglected to ask her how long ago she bought it.
Could it be that this is another "Not In America" thing? Any light anyone can shed on this would be helpful! I received my S8 yesterday but have not yet ordered a case for it.

I got the Punkcase waterproof (Studstar) for my S8. Firstly, I just wanted to mention the customer service I received from Punkcase - it was pretty bad. I ordered the case, two weeks later still hadn't received anything, and no updates. So I found another waterproof case that looked pretty similar on eBay, ordered that and asked to cancel the Punkcase. They sent me a message saying the case was very popular and backordered, and thanks for your patience, but they didn't cancel it. Almost two weeks later still no case, and no word, so I emailed them again and told them to cancel my order (again), since it hadn't been shipped and was almost a month since my order. They immediately (within an hour) sent me a tracking number saying it had been shipped, but no apologies or communication, and no cancellation. However, the tracking number was just that, a number - it hadn't been shipped at all, and wouldn't be for another week. They just created a tracking number to prevent me from being able to cancel the order. Pretty dishonest.
I finally received the case, and really it's just ok. It feels cheaper than the $40 I paid, and certainly if I'd paid the regular price of $80 I would have been pissed. The one I got off ebay for $15 was about the same quality. It is definitely water proof, and has the screen protector, but there is a bit of a gap between the cheap plastic protector and the screen, the case adds enormous width and I feel like a face down drop would absolutely not protect the screen enough to prevent a shattered screen. I'm going to use it for a while, but keep looking guys, the Punkcase is not the one.

Ghostek Cases?
Does anybody here have any experience with Ghosttek Cases?
More specifically this one: http://www.ghostekproducts.com/phon...f-protective-case-cover-ghostek-nautical.html ?

I have the pelican voyager for the s8 plus and it comes with a removable built in screen protector and a belt clip.. some of the reviews weren't great but I took a chance on it and liked it just fine

I had the nautical. Its a good case for 40 dollars.
I now have the lifeproof fre and ill say from having both the fre is definitly worth the money.
I didnt even want to test the nautical under water....the lifeproof works great under water.
The nautical is bulky
The lifeproof is slim... about perfect... only downside is the screen protector has a very small rise off the screen... not a deal breaker tho.
Hope this helps

I don't think I have seen this case mentioned, but it seems to be a good middle ground between something like a life proof and one of the cases more meant for further waterproofing. The reviews on the S8 version really bash it for the screen protector losing a lot of touch sensitivity, but in my experience it isn't that much- just the occasional key stroke. Meanwhile the S8 Plus version is well reviewed. Overall I like it and use it, although not all the time only when I am doing something where I really need the protection such as hiking or going to the bar and having a few.
Edit: Looks like the one I bought is out of stock and they are coming out with an updated one: https://www.amazon.com/Clayco-Updated-Version-Full-body-Protector/dp/B073TRVKKK/

I disagree. Life proof sux. There is like a 1mm strip of foam in the middle of the case and that is the extent of drop protection. I have both defender with alpha glass and lifeproof. Lifeproof feels like a trinket from a quarter machine at the grocery store compared to defender. I have gone through 5 or 6 alpha glass protectors and the new ones are better but still not a perfect fit. Call the warranty line for whichever case u want and u can get it for like $5. Both of these cases have lifetime replacement warranties.

Otterbox Defender knockoff.

Found what looks to be a knockoff of an Otterbox Defender that (according to the seller) fits our AT&T variant of the Galaxy S2. I've got one ordered and will report back when it shows up to let everyone know how well it fits. He has quite a few colors listed on his Ebay store, though I was boring and just went with black.
http://stores.ebay.com/Monster-Acce...799423011&_sid=62112801&_trksid=p4634.c0.m322
Yes please let us know how it works out for you. The one thing ive noticed with the knock-off otterboxs is the silicon skin is a little more plyable.
I've torn the silicon skin on so many "real" otterbox cases that might be a good thing. Especially since you can't buy just the silicon bits.
I contacted one of the ebay sellers that's listing a "not"erbox, about the fit and whether or not it has a built-in screen protector.
His reply: Thank you for your interest. Yes it does have a built-in screen protector but the quality isn't that great. Many of our customers ened up removing it. There is a very slight size difference between i777 and i9100 but this case will fit both.
I ended up buying the Seidio combo from Bestbuy for $34.
I take the screen protector off, too much dust and other stuff can get in-between the plastic protector and glass.
So I got the knockoff in...the case itself fits pretty well though it's obviously made for the international version. The biggest issue is how badly the belt clip attaches to the holster...if I dare try and rotate the thing it falls right off the clip. The built-in plastic screen protector on even the brand name ones annoy me, but this one annoys me more. I think I'm going to have to try out this particular seller's return policy unfortunately. I think for the price & low-quality build of this thing people should steer clear, especially now that better options are showing up for less than 2x the cost at major retailers.

That's the one I want
I messed around with one at a local mall store. The guy wanted $20 for it without the holster, but that's not why I passed on it. I thought it fit well enough, but the built-in screen protector was a waste of effort on the manufacturer's part. It was brownish, foggy and scratched (and that's after I removed the plastic protection). Seems like they could have done better with that, or just left it off.
The other problem was that there were no holes for the mic (near the headphone jack). So, I'll continue to wait... The Trident site states that there Kraken AMS for Galaxy S2 is "coming soon". Hope it's for the i777. I'd be on that quick.
I just talked to Trident on the phone, and they said that it's the Kraken AMS (the one with the solid exoskeleton) coming for the I777 next month (Jan). She said it was coming in all of their colors, too.
I have 1 of these it's called a ballistic case I paid 35 dollars at an at&t store and I absolutely love it. its it's very very snug anime iphone pills extra protective since I work in a warehouse and I've had a lot of cracked screens on my other phones because dropping them on the hard concrete. it does add some way to the phone as well as a definite notice and thickness. I would recommend this for anyone who wants to protect their phone. I'm positive this will last most users until the next upgrade.

Balistic SG Gell Galaxy Note case review

The Ballistic SG Gel case is a very tuff case. I definitely hold it with confidence in my hand. It does add to the size of the phone. All the cut outs for the mics, camera and pen and micro usb plug are just right. Easily accessible no trying to cram your finger in to pull out the pen or having to use a Drumal to adjust the holes. I really like the large cut out for the camera, (some cases with small cut outs can make nasty flash effects and cause pour pics.) I also included a pic of my old Ballistic HC case for my Iphone 4 in there to compare size. I also had a tank case from case mate but it is exactly the same as the Ballistic so I did not bother pulling the iphone out to take pics. I am interested in a screen protector but not sure if the one I like will work. I like the Moishi one and plan to go to the ATT store to see if it will fit under it. I know some of the thinner screen guards should with no issue. I will update later about that. The bumpers on the corners give it the most bulk but are minimal. You can easily lay it face down with no issues. Great shock absorption. I also order a Seidio Active case with kick stand that will be in Monday and plan to do a review of it. One of these will be my permanent case. Let me know if you have any questions. Also I am not a skinny jeans or pants kind of guy but this is extremly pocketable. I have no issues putting it in or taking it out.
Any chance you purchased the White Impact Triple Combo or the BoxWave Resolute? If so, how did these compare the Ballistic Galaxy Note Case?

I have not bought those. They look identical though exexpt for the cut out for the camera and the little B printed on each mumper corner. I wonder if they are made as well myself. I have tried the Zenus Capsule and sent it back the day I got it. Terible case with no protection. I thought it was going to scratch my phone just putting it on. It would not let me reply to you earlier today until I had at least 8 post. I will be receiving the Seidio active with Kickstand Monday and one of these two cases will be kept while the other is returned.
Almost forgot. Enter Spring12 at checkout and you can get 20 % off of this case. I ordered it Tuesday the day of release and received to day so pretty fast shipping for there cheapest fair which was USPS. Also if someone wants the Seidio you can get 10 % off at their site with TW10.
Moshi Ivisor AG for Galaxy note
Went to the AT&T store today and tried on the Moshi screen protector that is reaplyable and has no bubbles what so ever and confirmed it does fit under the Ballistic SG Gell case here. Unfortunatley I picked up a white one by mistake so will post picks of the black one when I swap it out later today. I hope and it should I believe work with the Seidio Active with kickstand coming Monday. The screen guard is great it has an anti glare coating and does not atract smudges from fingers like the screen does. I love it most because you can put it on and take it off as many times as you want.

The IMPACT TRIPLE and Boxwave are one and the same. I have the boxwave and the ballistic. The ballistic is seems tighter the way it hugs the phone but I prefer the boxwave because there is more protection around the camera lens than the ballistic.

I did notice the box wave looked to be more closed in around the lens and flash. Most companies have chosen to widen those holes to allow more light into the lens and to not mess with the flash. I could notice a big difference on my old Iphone 4 photos that had really tight coverage around the lens and flash with the case compared to the latest one I got for it from the same case maker that enlarged the holes because of those issues. I have to say after receiving the Seidio active with kickstand today, I will be sending it back because of how much more protection the ballistic offers. I love the idea of a kickstand, just doesn’t offer enough protection to me. Those extra bumpers on the corners of the Ballistic and Boxwave make a big difference when dropped.

[Q] Screen protector and case recommendations?

I just purchased the LTE version off eBay and I'll be needing a case and screen protector for it.
For the screen protector, I just want the plain 99-cents-for-3-pack type ones - no fancy wet application ones, or ones that give it a rubbery feeling, or that will peel and wear due to how thick they are, etc. And for some reason, I'm having trouble finding them - which is funny because its usually the oppsoite.
For the case, I'd like something that's still compatible with the official charge dock. From what I understand there's an adapter included to make it work with cases, but I still don't want anything bulky - I don't drop my phones, I just need protection from everyday wear. A plain slim snap on case would do - big plus if its legit bamboo/wood on the back (not cheap plastic or skin); nothing that covers the buttons, though, as I like their tactile feel.
Suggestions?

JK man, I guess you'll have to wait a bit more for more options to come when the handset is available worldwide.
In the meantime, you could check cases from PDAir, they seem like real premium ones, leather too.
Anyway, you can find simple screen protectors off eBay for 2/3 bucks for 3, but I went premium even there and bought the Gearmaxxx one off eBay, like 20 bucks for front+back.

To be fair, I think the guy I bought it from is a fraud and doesn't actually have them. Haven't received any communication from him since the 5th, even though I left a note upon purchase. Thank goodness I used Bill Me Later, I'm not actually out of that huge amount of money until I can cancel the transaction (if it comes to that).
And yeah I went ahead and got these two sets of screen protectors, plus this clear case for now:

Figure I'll give it a shot using the matte screen protector and see how I like it, and go clear if I can't take the loss in quality. And I'm considering the Incipio Watson since I do like their folio cases, but I'm not sure how I feel about having it on a phone (only had it on a tablet) and with no kickstand support.
Can I get some feedback please?

tempered glass INSTEAD of Otterbox Defender?

I've been searching for a while, and have come across dozens of threads complaining about the Defender's screen protector (and I agree..they suck, lol), or whether this protector or that protector will work with the Otterbox...but nothing yet of the durability of the tempered glass screen protectors in place of the entire Otterbox case altogether.
I had gone years and years without running any cases at all without an issue, and only started running basic plastic screen protectors on my last few phones. I'd swap out the protectors every month or so when they got scratched up, and I was perfectly happy with that setup.
Then I got a S4 Active last year...put my plastic protector on it, and broke the screen within the first week. Got it warranteed out due to water intrusion, and broke the screen on the replacement phone within about 12 hours. I got nervous going forward, and immediately put an Otterbox Defender on my Note 3 when I got it a couple months ago (like literally, took it out of the Samsung box, and straight into an Otterbox, lol). I had read about dust intrusion issues with the Otterbox, and thus left the factory "protector" on the screen...and glad I did, because this thing has sucked in all kinds of dust and crap into it. Seems like I'm pulling it apart every couple of weeks to clean it out, and now (not surprisingly), the rubber outer is a loose fit.
The other problem now is that I've wanted to get the Samsung home dock, which won't work with the Otterbox installed (and from what I'm gathering, virtually every other case is going to be an issue). I tried adding the wireless phone back...nope, doesn't fit with the Otterbox. Decent car dock other than the "fits absolutely everything!!!" $20 garbage universal car mounts? Nope...doesn't go wide enough for the Otterbox. Tried adding one of the 5-in-1 adapters to get HDMI out and USB host...nope, doesn't fit with the Otterbox installed...and taking the phone out multiple times means the rubber outside fits less and less every time....
In my case, I couldn't care less if the sides/back of the phone gets dinged up/scratched, as it's a work phone that gets turned in when we upgrade so resale value means absolutely nothing to me. Keeping dust out obviously isn't something the Defender is good at. So it's basically just a very oversized screen protector to me now.
So...as far as breakage protection goes, how does the tempered glass protectors compare to something like the Defender case, or other similar bulky plastic cases go? I'm really thinking about just dumping the Otterbox altogether, putting on a tempered glass protector, and calling it good. If it means anything, I don't consider price to be an issue. I'll gladly dump $100 into a protector if it saves my phone from a drop.

Ok so first off...
If your interested in wireless charging, you can indeed get wireless charging without buying a new backplate. Myself and several others here on XDA use this one.
It installs on top of your battery UNDER your current backplate.
Tempered screen protectors are awesome. They will protect your screen against smashing, falls, chips, etc... They will not protect your bezel, backplate, corners, etc.
My suggestion to you is this.
Get this tempered glass screen protector, and it's no where near $100.00
Get this ultra slim case also
Or get this Bumper instead of a case
The Spigen case is one of the thinest, best looking slim cases I have ever seen. Another one would be the Note 3 Neo Hybrid, search on Amazon for it. What I'm getting at is that you should have SOME protection at very least from small or moderate drops. These cases will minimize the damage, or completely save your phone while not adding any size or bulk to it. I have that tempered glass screen protector. It's very well made and is like a rock.
*Keep in mind you will need a Qi Wireless charger pad if you purchase that wireless receiver for your Note 3. They are all over Amazon and are very inexpensive. All these accessories I have mentioned will work with wireless charging quite fine. Here is the one for my Note 3.
.
Hope this helps, good luck
Cool, thanks!
Ordered that glass screen protector yesterday, and was looking at some of the wireless charging options. I had tried a couple of those add in coils with my S4 Active, but didn't like that they all bulged the back cover causing it to unsnap...I figured the Samsung charging back was actually the perfect solution. It's really not a big deal now, as my original intention was to go wireless to get around the problems with the Otterbox case. Though I may still go back down that road, as I'm seeing a few car mounts being released with wireless charging built in now.
Am gonna order this case from amazon as soon as I get it I will post review

I have a Spigen Tempered Glass protector, and numerous types of cases for protection.
I stupidly one day wasn't using a case, and my phone fell out of my shorts pocket and hit the ground. Hard. Screen down. I was very scared. I flipped it over, and the screen was fine, but the edge of the lower part of the phone, the chrome plastic surround was dented and a small corner of the protector cracked a tiny bit.
The protector definitely saved the screen but my phone is now dented. It has not been without a case since.
If you don't want something big but still want great bumper and shock protection try diztronic TPU cases. You can remove the phone all the time, it doesn't stretch out, and it looks great. If you want a slightly bigger case, UAG make great one price durable cases similar to Otterbox but they don't stretch. Spigen also has a great Slim Armor case if you want something larger, but not bulky.
Also, get a Tempered Glass protector. Obviously.

Problem with Armorsuit Case Friendly Screen Protector (S8)

I ordered 2 of these for my wife's and my Galaxy S8. After applying them, I waited at least 12 hours before putting a case on my wife's phone. The edges peeled up almost immediately. I have 3 different cases, 2 Ringke and a leather wallet style. All 3 of them had the same issue, on both phones. I was looking at the reviews for this on Amazon and noticed the seller, New Tech Accessories, said that Armorsuit has released an updated version of this screen protector that has a more precise cut.
I know these protectors were very popular for the S7 Edge, so if anyone else is in the same boat, contact the seller through Amazon. Looks like they are going to exchange the defective ones.

CASE UNFRIENDLY
Same thing happened with my S8. They didn't make the case friendly version as friendly as they should have. The version for my S7edge was great. These are cut too close to the edge of the screen.

Oh no, I put an Armorsuit protector on my S8 last night. It's been on for over 12 hours but I haven't touched it yet. It looks really good on the phone. I have a Spigen ultra hybrid clear case. I hope I have better luck when I put the case on.
It shouldn't be an issue getting an exchange if you need it. Here is the reply to a user review on Amazon:
"Thank you for taking your time to leave us a feedback. We are sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with your purchase.
It is possible that you may have received a defective item. The manufacturer ArmorSuit recently released an updated version of the screen protector for the Galaxy S8 so there is a more precise cut that is replacing the first version. It is possible that you may have still received the first version.
If you wish to place a case over your device, we recommend you allow the screen protector to completely dry for 12-72 hours.
We are more than happy to assist you with a free replacement if you would like to give our product another try.
We will gladly assist you with this issue. Please contact us through Amazon's Contact Seller Link. We are unable to assist you more deeply by reviews. Please mention this review [OR use the 'Permalink' to link us to your review] and include your Order # in your message to us. We look forward to serving you."

To my surprise I received 2 NEW improved design cut free of charge (only ordered one BTW) and didn't even ask the company for them! Getting my phone today so now I know why they sent them to me! You should be getting replacements too. If you haven't call or email them they stand behind their product!!
I have already sent them a message through Amazon.
I left mine on for 18 hours before trying with the case. It's buckled a tiny bit in the upper right corner and lower left corner. Other than that it's OK but very close to the case and I can see it possibly lifting on the edges with use. I assume I have one of the problem first batch. I'll contact them for a replacement either way just in case.
New Tech Accessories is sending me 2 new screen protectors. They did say if there were any more issues, I would have to do a warranty claim, which I don't think would be a problem. Also, they are just sending the protectors, so hopefully anyone else who is having an issue kept their squeegees and solution.
Same here. I have the zagg hd screen protector. My case came to days later and this is the result

Are you going to be putting a case on your phone? Please let us know if the new designs work.
I got my new protectors. Not only did they send me replacements for the 2 that I ordered, but they sent me 4 extra. Haven't had a chance to try them yet, will do that tomorrow.
I can verify that the new protectors fit better. Tried multiple cases and no lifting at the edges.
After a couple of days the original Armorsuit protector started lifting up around the edges from contact with my Spigen Hybrid Ultra case. They sent me two of the revised more case friendly version without me even asking. I put it on 2 days ago and it is much improved. Fits my S8 with the Spigen perfectly. It looks great except for fingerprints. I just wish they come out with a glass protector that actually works and don't cost an arm and a leg. I really prefer that glass feel. Picture is attached but it doesn't do it justice because of reflections.
I bought an Armour Suit screen protector of Ebay and had no issues installing it. It fits great and the edges are not lifting. When installing, the edges did lift slightly, but I ended up using a hair dryer to let the edges stick. After applying the spray solution, when the skin adhesive drys a bit, it helps to adhere better. Also, my case doesn't cover up the edges as much as most popular cases which helps.

You probably received the newer version. The first version was labeled as case friendly but wasn't. The newer one is actually case friendly and fits correctly. Armorsuit is sending out new protectors to those who received the non-case friendly ones.
New version working well with Spigen Rugged Armor. I recommend trying the case on during the install, while everything is still wet, to see if the corners are positioned properly. Also, don't "pull" to hard on the protector while squeegeeing it, since the material can stretch (and if it does, it will be too close to the edges and then will lift when a case is snapped on).

Maybe OP should update thread title to reflect that the new version is "a go", especially considering Armorsuit sent everyone free replacements.
Not sure how to edit the title.
