Telegram chat supergroup for Huawei P10 & P10 Plus users - Huawei P10 Guides, News, & Discussion

hey fellow P10 brethren (I have a p10 plus)
I created a telegram supergroup for some live discussion and chatting about our sweet devices.
If you don't have telegram, check it out. It's has the best feature set of any messenger app I think.
Edit:
Due to scammers the telegram link has been removed. DM me to join this group if you want in!
See you around!

Thanks for creating this.

Hi there, thank you for creating this. I recently purchased a Huawei P10 and found that when i put my phone down on a hard surface or slightly tap the back of the phone, there is a noise, almost like something is loose. I returned the phone and a new one arrived with exactly the same issue. Is this a standard problem or just something that comes with the phone?

It's not a bug it's a feature. The sound you hear is the OIS from the camera. It has to move a little bit to work.

MirrorShare major bug, Android 7 and Samsung smart TV

Hello, when projecting anything from my phone to Samsung Smart TV, only the upper half of the screen is rendered correctly. The lower half is scrambled/green , pixelated and full of artifacts, no matter the phone is in portrait or landscape.
My Smart TV is flawless with Mate 7, Samsung Tab S 10.5 or Asus Zenfone 6 when using Mirror Share.
Previously on Marshmallow 6.0 MirrorShare worked without problems with my Huawei P9plus .
On my friend's Huawei P9plus, identical with mine and with similar Samsung smart TV, the problem is absolutely the same.
Huawei, please fix this major problem as soon as possible.
My phone : VIE-L09C432B360, unrooted.
Have you found a solution to this? Mine does the same and I can't find a similar topic anywhere else. It's very annoying as worked perfectly before
I hope Huawei read this forum and make things working properly. Don't try to mess your phone/root/reset , at least I don't. If Huawei want to be number three, two or the best brand in smartphone industry they must read and solve customers complaints. Sadly, every brand have some (major) flaws, for me Huawei is the best compromise. Until...
PS: I had a problem with mirror sharing (Huawei Mate 7, veeery slow speed, almost unusable ) in the past but it was resolved after the last update and now it works okay .
Huawei, please do your homework properly to be number one !
Easy come, easy go and upset clients sometimes don't come back.
Mine is VIE-L29C636B370 currently.
Tried on my Samsung (Smart)TV for MirrorShare feature and does not seem to have issues.
There's around half second to one second delay in pushing the display to the TV though. "Seemingly" slower than before update (because I never really measured the time previously).
Then is a bug for single sim international version VIE-L09C432B360. Before Nougat, on Marshmallow my P9plus mirror share function was without issues(I used it frequently) . Now I have to use my Samsung Tab S 10.5 tablet for mirror sharing so please Huawei do your homework and respect your clients, I paid 700 Euros last year in July for your product.
After last update to android 7 my mirrorShare feature is casting the screen to a samsung tv with half of the screen is totally green . Before the update everything was working fine.
I search the case and found many people asking the same question with no answers yet. Any Help ?
Sadly after yesterday's update to B370 (from B360) mirror share is the same, flawed with half screen bug.
Huawei, please fix this major problem, please !
+1
Discover the same bug in my p9 B386

Huawei don't care about us. Probably this is my last new, full price Huawei "flagship" smartphone.
Same problem on an Honor 8 with Android 7

I wonder if this problem exist on P10/plus, Mate 9 or other newer Huawei phones.
Updated to B376 today (OTA) but the bug still here.
Probably my next phone will be another brand, Sony Xperia or...
I've got a P9 and a Mediapad M3 and only shows to top of the screen as well while connecting to Samsung tv. A Galaxy Tab3 doesn't have this problem.
Same problem with my huawei P9, running B391 firmware!

well done huawei ...................................................
I thought I was the only one with this kind of issue. It's really annoying because I always use mirrorsharing! I went back to were I bought it since I thought that the problem was the unit. They changed it with a brand new phone but the mirroshare still won't work!

Lenovo K5 Pro

I've found an October 2018 released smartphone from Lenovo, the Lenovo K5 Pro, with great specs and price.
The thing is that I am looking for official information regarding the phone from Lenovo website, but found nothing. Only few sites announcing the new smartphone and no reviews, no root info, no roms, nothing official whatsoever.
Maybe because it was recently launched? (October 2018).
I've found sites mentioning recovery, root, etc, but they seem to be those generic sites that only change the name of the phone, and same instructions for all. For example one site mentioned custom recovery from twrp, and in their site no mention of support for the Lenovo k5 pro.
This is the only site I trust for the technical specs:
https://m.gsmarena.com/lenovo_k5_pro-9374.php
I really like the phone, but it seems to me this is a little strange the absence of information, even here I found nothing. I am asking for official info, users of the smartphone, or something from here maybe, regarding the phone to decide to buy it or not. Thanks for the help.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Hope XDA create forum soon.
How to create a forum for Lenovo K5 Pro
It's been about a Half Year since the phone released but still no info on xda any one have idea how to create a thread for Lenovo K5 Pro L38041
K5 Pro is best modern phone for reliable notifications
I found one good thing about this phone: it has a very visible giant notification LED and no notch. It retains the good old design before notches, holes and popup cameras arrived to ruin the notification and face unlock experience.
The led is multi-color, however it shows only blue for notifications, red when charging and green when fully charged. Have tried some LED tester apps but didn't get it to show other colors per app for notifications. Still it is better to have a phone running Oreo 8.1 and a notification LED. I couldn't find many other phones still coming with a LED and newer Android. Maybe some ASUS models which have retained the LED but everyone else seems to have ditched it and gone the way of Always on Display (which in Chinese phones doesn't seem to reliably support third party app notifications). Only Samsung, LG and Nokia phones have gotten notifications right on Always on Display, from ANY app.
I've researched Xiaomi, Redmi, Poco, Huawei, Honor, Oppo, Realme, Vivo, OnePlus, Motorola and all have issues showing notifications from third party apps - Telegram, K5 Mail client, Gmail, Messages on Ambient/Always on Display. Also, some like OnePlus or Motorola don't have true Always on display, only turns on briefly when notifications arrive so if you're not around your phone, you miss them.
I think Lenovo K5 Pro is best modern phone for reliable notifications.

Camera 2 API Support - Offical Forum Thread

Hey Guys,
I opened a thread in the offical Huawei Forum in order to try to push a little the better implementation of the camera 2 api. I know chances are low, but if there is enough feedback and participation in the discussion maybe there is a chance for change. So please feel free to contribute to the thread and also share it if you are interested in better camera 2 api implementation.

Cheers
Maybe also support these for a smarter camera app:

Thank you for sharing the links and for the support. I know the chances are low that this is going to change something but maybe huawei pays some attention to the community...
I don't know how much this will really matter in the recent light of the huawei ban, but we received an answer regarding the Camera2api implementation in the forums.
https://consumer.huawei.com/en/community/details/?topicId=6790&showBread=1
Lets hope that the noise made about this topic is enough to maybe move something a a better direction.
Huawei doesn‘t care, I bet. At least Lightroom can shoot HDR DNG with the ultra wide cam...
I wanted to make a comment about this. I just bought the p30 pro here in China. I have been waiting for the emui 10 update. But, I also found on Huawei's website the Huawei Camerakit, which it says encapsulates the Google camera2 API. It requires Android studio version 3.0.1 or later, a Kirin 970 or later, and emui 8.1.0 or later... Wouldn't this mean a developer like the people on here could implement it? Link is developer.huawei.com/consumer/en/Camerakit.
I am hoping you all have an explanation/some enlightenment!
P30 Lite specification
Could anybody share Camera2 API Prob results here for Huawei P30 Lite?

[GOAL REACHED]GCam for Poco F2 Pro - Crowdfunding for @Urnyx05

Quoted from the Google Camera Mod (Gcam) thread in case if the community missed it. Every little donations counts <3

As you all probably know, @Urnyx05 is a key GCam dev for years and if it's gonna help the F2 Pro / K30 Pro community a lot if he gets the device.
I'm quoting him below.
Poco F2 Pro for Urnyx05
Crowdfunding to help GCam mod further development
Hi, lots of users knows me as a GCam modder. Few days ago, they proposed me to support GCam for Poco F2 Pro, so I'm organizing a crowdfunding. The amount of money will be 380 euros, that is the actual price of Poco F2 Pro on Amazon. If you want to contribute, this is the link to the crowdfunding:
https://paypal.me/pools/c/8twmcmVVpc
EDIT: For those who think it's a scam, I just added 2 screenshots from the Telegram group in which Urnyx posted the crowdfunding link. In the second one, you can see him saying that it's not his actual name but a friend of his. You can actually join the group and see all these posts for yourself.
Also, I even tagged him in the first sentence of this post which means that he's already been notified about it. If it was a scam, he would ask from the XDA team to delete my post.
EDIT 2: Uploaded the screenshots as images because there seems to be an issue with the attachment function of xda.

I'm pretty sure we'll make it, the only question is how fast. Don't forget guys, 1 euro is equally helpful as a 100
What does "GCam for Poco F2 Pro" actually means and how it will be different from the other GCam iterations that are available and are already working fine for this phone?

Right now every single modded GCam has at least a few issues on the Poco F2 Pro. On some the general picture quality is bad, on some the general video quality is bad, on some the front camera pictures have a lot of noise, on some video stabilization doesn't work, on some recording videos doesn't work, on some the lib patcher doesn't work on some lenses, and so on.

It means what you read: it will be developed for this devices for max compatibility
End goal lowered to 360 euros, cause @Urnyx05 found a cheaper one. Only 39.98 missing
I'm using the same 2 gcams from a back up of my OnePlus 7pro and both work with out issue including 4k60 with stabilization. I don't see the point of this personally.
Aaaaand done! Happy to tip it over the edge.
I want to thank to all who donated. You're awesome
Nice!
The goal was 360, we reach It and now Is 400, I don't get It, Is It only to let people still contribute to the cause? Anyway many thanks to urnyx for this project.

Question General Questions About Xiaomi 12S

Hi, I'm thinking of buying this phone (upgrade from my POCO F3) - I have a bunch of questions if someone could please answer these, thank you!
Bugs?
Does the FP sensor with tempered glass protection?
Camera Quality/Night Mode? (sorry I'm only seeing a handful of 12s reviews) if you could also post some sample shots, please.
Update commitments? Open source? Last I checked, there's still no commitment from an XDA article
GCAM - I saw a bunch of apps on some Telegram group which is dedicated to the 12S series, wonder if you guys tried it yet? (to those who's gonna ask here's the thumbnail & TG link)
RAM management - (I know this will eventually be fixed on custom roms or MIUI EU - will we even have custom ROMs?) but I saw on YT reviews that it has bad ram management
Battery Review - SOT? WiFi/Data
Any official Telegram channel yet? 12S Photography? - All I can see is 12S Ultra
Overall, how does it feel? A good daily driver? I had Mi 8 before and switched to F3 (camera sucked so hard compared to Mi 8) even with GCAM, so basically I'm looking for something bug free, daily driver + good cam.
Thank you guys!

Hi. I use my Mi12s as a daily driver. Here are my thoughts.
With stock Chinese rom it is pretty stable, but even for this price tag you are getting Ads and Bloatware so naturally I would want to flash a custom rom. However this device is still fairly new (although Xiaomi seem to have moved on with the 13) and it is a China-only model so You either have to flash a GSI and risk things not working or you have to use third party apps to debloat the device and risk deleting or disabling system apps that make your device brick after a restart (which would mean a factory reset or else a complete MIflash system reset) so you are probably better off with one that has international support. I actually recommend an older model such as the 11 or 10 as they still have plenty of support but they are in enough hands that pixelexperience and LineageOS all support it.
xiaomi.eu now has a rom for the 12s you can use if you like. I have not tried it out yet.
The system adds 3GB of virtual memory to the device by default. This affects storage and will wear out storage faster so I choose to turn it off.
There is no support for multiple users, but there is a feature called second space which basically does that (found out in adb)
And I do not think there is an official way of getting this device outside of China. On top of that I do not think warranty can be used outside of China since this is a China-only device.
