Just unboxed my G6 and waiting with sweaty palms for the first charge to finish... .
Like most EU users I was annoyed at No ESS Dac or Wireless charging.. but I wonder.. how much of this is directly LGs fault.. and I wonder how much of it is EU / red tape interference..
It just doesnt seem logical that a company would manufacture 2 versions of their flagship and turn out a half baked phone..
We never got the V10 or the V20 .. so I wonder, how much of, selling a half finished device for the same £680 (in Asia it works out £650), is interference by the Financial Euro-prats in Brussels.. after all, Samsung havent removed their Wolfsonn DAC or Wireless charging from the S8, could it be the patents ?.. IMO, No..
Are we as consumers being too hard on LG as a company when the blame may lie with the faceless Beaurocrats?

We should be hard on LG. It's their branded phones.
For clarity the reason for the disparity across the world is due to the networks depicting what they believe their customers will buy and at what price. For example if LG said it could provide a quad dac for an extra £5 per phone the network buyers may not believe that's necessary to include, thereby maximising profits. The networks are LG customers , not you.
I'm not letting LG off the hook. Pressure needs to be applied from every angle to make the networks and LG realise it is not acceptable to hav such disparity where the feature difference is noticeable.
No, no good trying to blame the EU for this (honestly, this isn't the Daily Mail! ). There's no regulatory impediment to a better DAC or wireless charging, and anyway how would Brussels stop the Americans getting the DAC, or indeed stop the Asians getting wireless charging? And you forgot that Asian models get 64GB storage whereas the rest of the world gets 32GB.
No, LG made the decisions on a financial basis. Whether they took feedback from carriers or did their own market research (which is what they told me when I contacted them about this), in the end it was just a business decision on their part.
I contacted them the day that the phone was announced and told them that their regional specifications policy had cost them my custom. I figured that one person buying it or not is invisible to them, but if enough people told them it was stupid and that they would have sold more without it they might learn for next time.
After starting this thread, then reading your replies.. I did a little digging to check my facts and I was saddend to learn that, yes.. this is LG doing so-called market research on what the "networks" want and sadly, all 3 regions have been scr*wed over.. but to give the EU the version that has NONE of the added features (No 64GB/Wireless, or DAC) or the "V 10 / 20 and probably not the 30" is a really stupid move.. I dont know who does LGs research, but they should be fired.. Yet they give us waterproofing which scr*ws call quality and Audiio..
And they wonder why Samsung do so well..
Whatever the reason or whoever is to blame, LG need to realise they are the back marker/the underdog. They need to come out with a headliner that appeals to mainstream AND more hardcore users.

Then in my opinion they got their analysis compelety wrong.
Ok the S8 is more expensive on contract but imagine the smile on the salesman when he justifies that expense on wireless charging and larger storage. It'll be easy for him.
G6 will just get swept aside which is a shame as I think my G5 is great anf was looking forward to this one.
Maybe they will reanalyse for the G7 ?

I have 4 flagship phones, the S8+. Huawei P10 Plus, LG G6 and iPhone 7 Plus. I will be ditching the S8+. Whilst it has lots of positives, its just not as nice to use as the G6, nor is it camera as useful or as good at in many areas as the G6.

Just no way I'll get the UK version. Its still expensive and I would hate knowing I had a 'dumbed down' version.

Yea saw that deal on HotUKDeals. Think it turned out to be an error in some stores putting the G6 on show at G5 prices.
Pretty sure its back to £600+ now.
£600+ for the G6 is just a crazy, crazy price. Also, for the amount of time it took to release it they could have had an SD835 in it! Perhaps they'll release a V2 with an 835 but some of LGs decisions with phones are insane. They're shooting themselves completely in the foot.

I'm not convinced this decision is one by market research as suggested. My own view is that LG rushed the release in the UK knowing that the S8 was comming out only 2 weeks later. Poor marketing really.

CPW has an early exclusive on the colours. They seem to do this quite a bit as well as getting the phones earlier than other online retailers. Frustrating. Personally I have the white which I like a lot.

£564 is what I'll be paying for the phone over 24 months.
Ive been with Tesco Mobile for several years so I just logged in to my account and that was the price that was quoted. And yes it's unlocked, all my phones from Tesco have been network free with no crappy bloatware.
I picked it up in store this afternoon and an hour later I had swapped it for a 1 week old V20, LG folio case (both as new) and £150 cash
My experience with the G6 was very brief but I decided after 5 minutes it wasn't for me. It's a gorgeous phone but the biggest fingerprint magnet I've ever had.
I'm already impressed with the V20 (H990ds Korean model) so I'll be posting my thoughts in the V20 forum.
LG did **** up the UK release of the G6, but not by rushing it, instead by delaying it.
LG had a window of opportunity of just under a month from when they announced the G6 to get it on the shelves, or at least on pre-order, before Samsung announced the S8. They must have known that Samsung would open up pre-order orders immediately, and probably that Samsung would ensure that every phone shop nationwide had S8s on display the day after announcing it; yet LG didn't even announce the UK availability date until a week before Samsung put actual retail S8s in actual customer's hands.
If they'd capitalised on that month lead they had, the G6 would be selling way better, despite the exclusion of its best features.

I have been a long time LG fan, I have the G2, the G Flex and now the G3. along with 2 LG Tone+ and a LG Tone Ultra. but to the point, watching the unveiling show and seeing people unbox their LG's I got really excited. that LG actually noticed the 4K display would hurt battery life, so why not compensate with an extra battery and a wall charger for them. Then i was really excited and waited patiently for it to come to sprint. Then sitting at bestbuy on the day it came out and noticed that we didnt get anything, hell we didnt even get the cheap headphones. WE GOT NOTHING. my question is, WHY? why them and not us.
and after dealing with LG customer service over the past serval days. my impression and love for the company just nosedived. i was given nothing but stupid remarks and sarcasm. and one instance i was even told that i probably didnt have the LG G3. im just disappointed about this whole experiance and how i was treated when trying to get answers.
anyone know why they gave it away to some markets but not the US?

Exactly. It's not LG's fault. The phone also comes with an FM Tuner, which AT&T blocked and Verizon also disabled some features. The carriers are the evil ones here, not LG.

The Z4v is confirmed to be on its way to release on September 3rd. The first week has a promotional sale going on from what I see for three different people.
The full price of the phone is $599, but it will go on sale for $499 with $100 in Google play store credit.
For us Z3v owners, we can trade it in to knock off $220 to bring the price down to $379.
If you have any other phones, you can trade it in up to $70 in knocking it off.
I really love my Z3v, but seeing that Verizon has really abandoned it, it's no wonder why Verizon is now offering the Z4v. The YouTuber who has the phone confirmed the date, and he also discussed he hasn't had any issues with overheating on the SD810. I'm more likely tempted to get it now because if you just think about it, you do any extraneous activities on your phone, it'll heat up anyway.

So what about if I am paying monthly on the retired edge program? Is that trade in price of $379 what I could finance monthly?

I think that would come to terms whether you're done financing the Z3v with the Edge plan by then. Otherwise, I think you're just paying at a discounted full price and all you'll be paying for is your plan month to month. I'm not too sure.
I just got the z3v a few months ago so I know I'm not done paying for it...but I think I'll try to sweet talk them at the store and play the no VoLTE and broken promises cars and see what they'll do for me (if anything)

This is my 1st sony phone after trying virtually all other manufacturers, except LG, and I love it. Came from Note 3 and I loved the size but wasn't a fan of TW. I think the biggest struggle I've had is the lack of support and development. But honestly I was kinda tired of rooting/tinkering with my phone and just wanted a good phone with great camera and battery. Didn't realize how much I'd miss simultaneous voice and data...here's hoping the z4v has all I need. Appreciate the update Giga

So I paid full price $599 for this phone 9 months ago. I'd have to pay an additional $379 to trade it in, meaning in total I'd be spending over $1000 with tax and everything.
For that $1000 I'm getting more resolution which I don't need, shorter battery life which I dont want, a faster processor that probably makes no difference in day to do use, Lollipop with all the annoying bright colors and white screens that I don't like, and simultaneous voice and data.
In other words for me personally the only positive thing I'm gaining for spending $1000 is simultaneous voice and data, and updates that will protect me from malware vulnerabilities. Both of these things were promised to me when I bought the Z3v, and now I have to pay another $379 and have to give back my Z3v for their broken promises?
In the end I consider this offer from Verizon a joke. Are we supposed to be happy to pay for their mistake? And on top of it they get to keep our Z3v on the trade so we can't even sell it off later ourselves to offset the cost of their mistake.

I understand where you're coming from. You're not the only one who had to spend full price for the Z3v as Verizon's joke attempt on setting up a phone for failure. It's up to you whether you want to keep it or not, but I know you've had great experiences with yours. I wouldn't totally diss the Z4v on battery life necessarily because it does have real Z3 hardware technology such as the screen RAM, which saves on power. The higher display resolution is highly questionable and makes no different to the human eye than what Full HD can already do.
I do wish there was a better option for us Z3v owners than just knocking off $220. This info is only a rumor so o hope there is a better rumor than this.

Actually I am, or one of the new Nexus devices, providing they are all carrier compatible like the Nexus 6. This really has to leave a bitter taste in the mouths of z3v owners, waiting for an update that never came. I really do like Sony's hardware and loved the Z2 I had when I was briefly on AT&T. If the $220 trade in is true it's not that bad of a deal as the z3v is selling for just a little more than that on swappa right and will likely sell for less once the z4v actually drops.
I paid $340 for my Z3v new from swappa. there must have been a liquidation of the phones because a lot of them sold around the time I got mine. At the moment I honestly dont think its worth it for me even though I got mine for cheaper. The accessory support will probably be just as bad as the z3v. I really like being able to get something different from what many people know of and buy, it almost has an exclusive feel to it while hiding its faults at the same time. If it wasnt for the moto x pure edition price, I would probably go through with the whole trade in thing. All in all, I still like the phone for its screen, battery and audio with headphones or speakers. This whole stage fright thing would be another reason to get a phone I know will be updated and if not root and cyanogen mod will be there if stage fright security measures don't take it away.
I'm thinking about the new 2015 LG nexus 5. But only if it's on Verizon. Because Verizon does have the best network.

Just so you know, you can download Textra as your text messaging app to protect yourself against stagefrite.
Reason why I'm sticking with Sony is because of all those above reasons and the waterproofing. I have the noise cancelling headset that matches with the phone and I should have bought it at the very beginning for use.

Gonna just have to tough out my contract and drive their name in the mud. Throwing more money at this is not an option for me. As far as getting a vzw branded android phone. It doesn't fix anything but incentives them to screw people over and have them buy new devices. Those who buy a Z4v expecting more then 89 days of support are kidding themselves. I really can't see them supporting it any longer then they have ours. Based on the reality of our situation. I understand folks wanting another device just don't play the game that round 2 will be any better.

I thought all you needed to do was just turn off the auto download mms? There were also other ways to catch it instead of just text from my understanding.
I have been interested in that headset you mentioned I just haven't purchased it yet.
The waterproofing feature is a large reason why I got the z3v in the first place but because of the rear glass adhesive issue I have its not always sealed properly. its like it wants to stick but slowly comes undone. Im about to dip the whole back in plastidip jk...or not. If I could get maybe 300-340 out of it instead of the crummy 220 I would probably get the z4m I mean z4v without com"promise" from vzw about updating. (sounded better in my head)

If it was 300-400 off, that would be satisfactory. But seriously, does no one think there can't be a lawsuit over broken promises? lol

Im seriously thinking about spraying white plastidip on the back. A case wont help because the lift is so tiny. if you look at the back of your phone at a 20 degree angle you should notice the plastic trim lip all the way around. on the usb side and right over that spot the glass is meeting that point on my device instead of being below it.
I say haggle with vzw for a better price lol. The time you take trying to get your point across they would have made that back and more in a matter of seconds.

So I'm speaking with a Verizon agent simply asking, "is Verizon still supporting the Z3v?" Apparently it still is because there was announcement of an update on July 14th, but it didn't get release because of some bugs. So I've been informed of a tentative software update sometime this month of August. Which is really up in the air considering all these past months.
I then ask about the Z4v and what there is for us. We can trade in our Z3v if it's in like new and working condition, and mine could go for $310 to trade in. I asked how much the Z4v would be full price, and they have no solid idea other than comparing the full price for the Z3v going for $499 (although that's the current retail value now as opposed to 10 months ago). So that ay bring it down to $290 instead of $370 if the full price is $599...hmm....
I know the 6P won't be sold through the carriers, at least not right away. I'm a Tmo subscriber and I was a little disappointed at first but buying the phone and paying for it in full is always the best route.
With that being said are you with Tmo? What area of the country are you in? Having issues or are new services going live? Questions about service with past or the new nexus device? Let's keep each other updated with what's going on with our carrier.
I've had just about every nexus phone while on Tmo. I had spotty service for awhile but over the years service has gotten much better for me in the Orlando area. This past year I've seen almost all the 3g towers turn into LTE. I got to use HD voice for the first time on my nexus 6. VOLTE got turned on. Band 12 going live (although not in my area, I've used it in other FL markets) Going forward to the 6P are we going lose some of these? I've already seen a report that band 12 will not be unlocked at launch for our device. Will volte be available? HD voice? None of these are deal breakers but it would suck to have such a cutting edge device yet it can't access some basic phone functions. What are your thoughts/insight?

why even bother with the jump program? buy phone outright and sell old phone. no restrictions, change phones whenever you want and probably cheaper.

I'm not a fan of jump either however not everyone can afford the full price, some people are fortunate to be able to.
I guess it's kinda like leasing your car but of course a way lower price.
I love buying unlocked phones and now that tmobiles prices are so low it really works out
Even with the jump program you are paying full price for the phone. It just gives you the option to trade in without worrying about negative equity, like a car. But I guarantee you the first time you buy a new car cash you'll set yourself up for life to never have a car payment again, this is so much easier to do with a phone... So much easier.

I think most people who get the jump program get it because they can't afford to pay the full price up front, even if they are paying the same in the end or maybe sometimes you pay more for a device when you could've gotten an unlocked device (same or better) for cheaper
I actually began my Nexus 6 purchase through finance. I figured hey, it's 0% who cares. I started to think of bills and life from a more DTI based perspective vs my older, borrow at low or no interest and invest to get more mindset.
Once you start paying off everything with a payment (no matter how low the interest) you start to have so much excess cash monthly that you realize WTF you've been doing wrong your whole life. It also makes it a lot easier to save and invest.

Why pay full price for the phone? I have the original Jump program. So i pay $27/Month. In one year I paid $324 and traded the phone in for the next Nexus. I didnt have to shell out the full $650. I dont know but it works fine for me. Only phone i care about are the nexus devices. Its a Big deal when i can simply walk into the store hand them my old phone keep all my Chargers and accessories and walk out with a new phone paying only taxes..
I just pre-ordered one and I feel that Jump may not offer a good deal. I've been hearing a lot about Google Fi so that does seem like a better option overall. Also, you would lose out on the $50 play credit and three months of free Google Play Music unless you get it before Oct 25. I'll be using mine for T-Mobile and I'd only hold on ordering to look over reviews, but it's a Nexus device so it should be pretty solid. I agree with many in here that not everyone can pay full price, but with Jump you are still paying quite a bit of money. It's just better to buy it up front then sell the old phone after.
One of the things mentioned in the Reddit AMA today was they're attempting to work with TMobile on getting the Band 12 turned on prior to the device getting to everyone. So at least they're acknowledging the issue.

They're not selling the Nexus 6P in U.S. carrier stores... So we don't have the option to use Jump! or Jump! On Demand. I have a Galaxy S6 on Jump! On Demand that I'm a few months into... I purchased a 6P outright and will use 1 of my 3 upgrades w/ T-Moible to go w/ something else, and not pay a dime at the store. I switch phones a TON so for me Jump! On Demand is awesome. I will say though, once I am done with this current EIP, I will try to stay with unlocked phones and just pay outright for them. My monthly bill will be a lot cheaper.
As far as the band 12 support; if they get it fixed by ship date, great. If not, oh well... I don't have access to band 12 where I am (Columbus, Ohio), so I'm not missing anything if they don't have it fixed. I'm sure when/if it gets activated here this will be fixed.

Especially T-Mobile stores, as they have carried and stocked every single Nexus phone the past six years. I could see Verizon or ATT not selling it, but T-Mobile has been a big supporter of the Nexus phones, as far as carriers go.
So the Nexus 6P will be nowhere to be seen or played with in stores, you just have to hope you think you'll like it and order it online only ? That's crazy. I always want to hold it in hand, mess around it with it for 30 minutes in the store, really get a feel for the phone, before deciding.

I'm sure that They will be available at some point. Google has given exclusivity for the first couple months before, this time it's to themselves. Maybe they want to get the preorders out without a disaster like previous releases. On the bright side we get great pricing compared to the rest of the world

Yeah, Rumor is they could offer them in stores later this month to avoid the instant rush of phone orders. They sell direct first then allow carries to carry a few models if wanted.
That Reddit AMA was filled with tons of questions asking about U.S. Carrier availability, and they didn't respond once.
Wonder if that got them thinking, hey maybe we should put this out to T-Mobile and other carriers maybe ? I could see that happening after the rush of Play Store orders, and be in stores come December. I bet T-Mobile at least carries it by Christmas, just my guess.

I'm wondering if part of the reason is so they can say see how many devices we sold without you, you're not getting customized builds this time.
If they announce carrier availability it would just eat into their own direct sales.
I'd be shocked if this doesn't ultimately get on carriers in a quarter or so.
I'm still upset no Nexus 6P at U.S. Carrier stores, especially T-Mobile.
And I call BS on Google's excuse, that they want full control and no carrier slow downs no carrier involvement mucking things up.
Apple
Carriers don't get in the way of Apple and iOS updates. A Verizon or ATT iPhone 6S get's updated straight from Apple, you don't see Verizon users waiting longer for the iOS update, than an international iPhone user, or Apple having to give the update to ATT first and then let them, hand out the update later to it's customers.
Nope, if you have a Sprint, or T-Mobile, or Verizon iPhone, you just go to iTunes or Apple for the update, and they have the update available at the exact the same time, no matter which carrier phone you own.
My point is, carriers aren't in the way whatsoever, and Apple sells a **** ton of iPhone's through these carriers. How many sales of iPhone's are done directly through the Apple store and site only, like Google wants people to buy the Nexus 6P through the Play Store only ?
Google should sell the Nexus 6P at U.S. Carrier stores, and not give the BS excuse it's because of updates or some crap.

I've been holding out for the 6GB model but I am tired of my GS6 Edge and it's broken screen and my backup phone is like a 2013 Moto x and yeah it sucks.

They have been in business since 1985. I am pretty sure this was a marketing ploy used to generate interest and demand for their product. It is human nature to want what we cannot have. Just be patient.

Well it was first released in the Chinese market. From what I can tell, due to carriers and a bunch of restrictions with selling stuff in the US, some companies are very cautious. First Axon needed to test the waters with a lower scale launch.
Also don't hate on the OG Moto X. It's seriously one of the best devices ever, up there with the Nexuses.
I'm glad I pre-ordered for the first run. This is one of the best phone values I've had in a long time, comparable to the Oneplus One when it released. Keep the prices low and specs high, engage the xda community, keep the warranty, and I will continue to be a customer.
I think it should be getting MORE attention. It is time the big name brands take a hit in their pricing and provide affordable flagships, however they need to do s, otherwise I will continue to buy the high value chinese brands.

I agree, for $400 (especially + giftcard and headphones) its a great deal. The two major cons of the device are the reception, and camera. Minor quirks with software can be fixed, and the capacitive button locations can be gotten used to. As a device I'd give it a 7.5/10, as a device that costs $400, 8.8/10. I am still surprised that it has an s6's amoled, audio that is easily top 3, etc. To me, the only thing that is making me question this phone is the reception, other than that I am completely happy with it even with the other issues.
Galaxy Note 7 on back order also so cut ZTE some slack. I can name several flagship phones that sold out or back ordered in the first month or 2 and no one lost their mindss like people are doing with ZTE.
ZTE just told me that the phone came to the USA market officially before the EU market so the USA version may seem better than EU.
The Official EU release is coming very soon though this month it looks like.
They promise that they provide good service to all users around the world and not just the USA

Dude, "good service" for me includes unlockable bootloader for everybody, not just americans. Ordering a oneplus 3 next week, once the graphite color is available. Gold is ugly as hell. Don't only women buy gold phones? I only have seen women and gay dudes with gold phones
I received my ZTE Axon 7 Gold Colour today in Frankfurt, Germany.
I ordered on the 31st of August and picked it up at Media Market this afternoon (02.09.)
It was sold out in a day once it appeared on the German price comparison website idealo.
I am loving the sleek build of the phone so far and its speed but funny enough, the listening sound appears to be too low even on high volume and I cannot find any theme store anywhere as the stock UI is ugly as hell.
I will keep going through it to see its strength and weaknesses.

What are the versions available in the EU or UK market?
I'm planning to buy a Chinese version, 4GB+128GB for about 2900RMB, 330 GBP, during my China trip later this month. But I'm slightly concerned that I wont be receiving OTA updates for EU markets afterwards.

OTA updates aren't based on where you currently are located. They're based on the region of the device. A Chinese A7 will only be getting the Chinese OTAs.

I think this may be like the OnePlus One in that it's an exceptional package for the price. The Axon 8 or whatever going forward will likely have less bang for buck as with OnePlus Two/X because of demand.
I'm hoping that for once being an early adopter (albeit waiting 6 weeks) will pay off with a phone that I will get a good two-three years out of.

my local best buy has the grey version in stock today, less than 3. im really contemplating exchanging my nexus 6p for it. its a tough decision because i love android 7.0 but the battery life and lcd is subpar on the 6p. your getting more bang for buck with the axon. the only concern i have is getting ota updates and any rom development.

If you go to the local ZTE USA website, you can order the phone. According to their website and this device will ship prior to 9/9. That is but a few days, but since they already know when it will shipband this has been on their site for several weeks, this was probably a marketing ploy more than likely. The hope to be to increase demand by reducing supply. I am quite sure, this company of professionals, that has been in business since 1985, did not make a rookie mistake like this.

Today, Razer finally announced their Razer phone and it is available for pre-order with an estimated delivery date of November 17th. The US998 non-carrier version of the V30 is currently estimated to finally be available on December 5th. The Razer phone costs $699US where the V30 costs $800US. That said, here are the bands supported by the Razer phone. Yeah, no CDMA.
GSM: Quad-band GSM UMTS: B1/2/3/4/5/8
LTE: B1/2/3/4/5/7/8/12/17/19/20/25/26/28/29/30/66
TDD LTE: B38/39/40/41 TD-SCDMA: B34/39
With 8GB of RAM, a 120Hz screen with adjustable refresh rate, SD835, dual front-facing speakers with Dolby Atmos, and a 4000mAh battery, and even a THX certified DAC, although through a USB-C to headphone adapter that comes in the box. Unlockable bootloader that hasn't been stripped of fastboot commands!
The V30 seems to offer the better rear camera experience, at least from what I have seen so far. The front-facing camera might be a bit different though with the Razer phone having an 8MP front-facing camera. The V30 definitely has the better style and look to it though, although aesthetics are purely personal taste. The V30 (H932SV) supports T-Mobile's 600MHz band 71 where the Razer phone doesn't and I haven't heard of anyone mentioning WiFi Calling and VoLTE support as of yet. The V30 also offers wireless charging but the Razer phone offers Quick Charge 4+.
So... Does anyone think there is still a reason to buy a V30, especially at the current pricing of $800US?

I totally understand that. The look of it... It does look like a brick. That is the hard thing about it. It has a lot of other things going right for it but... it's just damn ugly!

hmmm... there are trade offs depending on what you are after on a device. I got my t-mobile v30 for $600 brand new so I suppose it's a pretty decent deal.

I get that it is based off of the Nexbit Robin but still. Razer could have done better design wise. Just about everything else ticks all of the right things for me. If you don't mind me asking. Nice! Enjoy it! It's definitely an excellent device and you have band 71 to get the best performance out of the 600MHz network as it starts to go live.
It seems like 2017 is the year for great competition in the smartphone market. For the price and value however, I find the Essential Phone very competitive. I saw a number of refurbished models on eBay for $390 or so. Possibly return units that look quite flawless. No headphone jack though.

I want a V30. It's just there are so many inaccuracies about the bands supported in each model of the V30. I am currently up in Canada so everything sold up here is the H933 model. Each carrier up here lists different band support which also conflicts with what LG directly told me. I'd rally like the unlocked US998 but December 5th is a bit far away to wait and the price of it seems to be too high for what is out there for competition. Band 71 would be a bonus as a T-Mobile customer but for the right price, I'd forget about it until my next upgrade. According to B&H, the US998's non-carrier version band support sucks! I would like to be able to root my device but I also think I could potentially live without root if I got the H932SV from T-Mobile.

I'd like to think that by Dec 5, LG will have dropped the priced (given the added competition and mixed reviews), and/or there will be some sweet sales.
I'm a Verizon customer and can take advantage of the $200 gift card and free Daydream headset, but I'm likely going to hold out for the unlocked model to see how well that plays on Verizon's network. I'm fairly confident I'll find a better deal than what Verizon is offering at the moment.

I'm sure there is more but that's what I've got so far.
I know the wait for the unlocked sucks but fact of the matter is that manufacturers worry about carrier versions first and no-brands second. Unless you have some weird or obscure carrier you can probably have a carrier phone tomorrow so the wait for the unlock is on you.
I'd say wait for the V30. After a couple months the Razer phone will be as cool and desirable as a Marshall London phone.

I agree that a price drop is definitely needed and sooner than later. LG doesn't seem to understand what they are doing though. The V30's hype was ruined by delays and a reveal too early compared to the release date. When I see a phone debuted, I want to buy it shortly after, not months later. The more time that passes, the more other things are closer to release. CES and MWC are not too long after the holiday season.

I'm sure there is more but that's what I've got so far.
I know the wait for the unlocked sucks but fact of the matter is that manufacturers worry about carrier versions first and no-brands second. Unless you have some weird or obscure carrier you can probably have a carrier phone tomorrow so the wait for the unlock is on you.
I'd say wait for the V30. After a couple months the Razer phone will be as cool and desirable as a Marshall London phone.

Headphone audio going to the V30 is debatable. No one has really tested the Razer audio from the 24-bit DAC Razer is using enough to post a review of it, at least not yet. I don't care about gaming on a phone either and I don't know many that actually do but I am sure someone does. The screen on the Razer phone has got to have better viewing angles over the V30. The ability to speed up the processor and adjust the refresh rate and resolution are all nice aspects on a stock Android experience. Even though the Razer phone looks like a ginormous greyish black brick, the specs and price have left the V30, at least in my opinion, looking stupid with their too late for a flagship release. LG has managed to tease me with a product I really wanted and then has made me not want it by the time I could actually get it.

Razer Phone doesn't have a headphone jack. You have to use a dongle like with the iPhone and Pixel.
Plus, I don't think it's debatable, considering the other stuff Razer messed up on. See my previous post, above yours.
Even in the "bad" reviews for the LG V30, critics praise the LG V30 32-bit quad DAC:

And again, this was a bad review -- but he was honest about what he considered the good points.
I bought my LG V30 a month ago. As a Verizon customer, I was eligible for $102USD trade-in value for my old Note 4 and a promotional $200USD gift card. Out of pocket expense was $538USD not including taxes and fees. I was originally going to wait for the Pixel 2 XL or an iPhone X, but the cost savings combined with the quad DAC, headphone jack, dual cameras, and the centrally located rear fingerprint scanner was enough reason for me to pull the trigger on the V30. LG also provided a free Google Daydream and a 2nd year of warranty coverage.
So far, I've been very pleased with the V30 with zero buyer remorse.

It may not have a headphone jack but the adapter does come in the box. I would like to see some more reviews on Razer's offering before I call one or the other to be better. Currently though, LG's audio implementation is by far the best out there. However, the Razer phone doesn't officially come out for a couple of more days. By then, there should be some more in-depth reviews.
A) I haven't done dongles since my G1 and I will never do dongles again. There's just no reason for it and it gets old fast.
B) Probably not a good idea to buy this first gen product.
C) Probably not a good idea to bank on x years of updates until they've made x years of the product. I had to look up who Razer even is. Without carrier distribution in the US, this thing will see such a limited release that I'd question if they're even still making phones in a few years. Look at the facts. This is basically a product that some other team started and did a "one and done" then offloaded to someone else while they still could. And it's this last point that I'd really worry about and might make a lot of other people hesitant. Which could possibly lead to an early demise of this part of the company. They really have to make a compelling case for a lot of people to jump into the deep end of a cold pool quickly.

Lots of valid points there and i agree with the dongle. If you can't charge your phone and still listen to wired headphones, that is a deal breaker, at least for me. I am all for competition, especially when it comes in cheaper with those specs. Whether it is the product for me or anyone else is an individual choice. Hopefully it makes LG try harder and do better with the V40 launch. The V30 product isn't the issue in my opinion. It was LG's failure to deliver that product in a timely manor.

That would be assuming LG, or any company, sees this as competition. Which at this point I doubt any of them do. Sure it has a couple of impressive specs but that's it. It has limited distribution from an unproven company with a hideous design that's already getting a lukewarm reception at best. I don't think any established company is going to take this thing all that seriously.

As for LG's timeliness, they did the same thing with the V20. At this point if they cleaned up their act in time for the V40, I'd be pleasantly surprised. In the end game though I'm not really worried. Waiting a few weeks isn't really anything when you realize the development cycle of a given product. It's not like another company is going to use that few weeks time between announcement and launch to suddenly sneak out a better product. That window just isn't long enough to do that and the supply chain doesn't flip fast enough to seriously one up that quickly, even if you could get your developers and QA to move fast enough. (Which we don't. Oh dear FSM we don't.)
No, what you're seeing in all of these complaints of "taking forever to launch" is a lack of patience from a very small slice of the overall consumer pie chart and an interesting psychological study into some rather boorish and childish behavior. There is no other way to explain it. Either you really do want the product in question and can wait a few weeks or you just have money burning a hole in your pocket and want to throw it at the first thing you can.
Look at the iPhone X launch. How long between it's announcement and actual in hands? It was announced on September 12th? Couldn't even pre-order until a few days ago! (Last Friday) Won't ship until at least tomorrow! (One week after pre-orders opened.) Oh, and that's if you're lucky as they seem to be having supply issues and might only get to ship half if that. That's 8 weeks before it is in ANY consumer's hands. Between announcement and in hands I had my V30 in 5 weeks and that was waiting from a US carrier, not even the lesser wait if you were in LG's home market. And I'm just not seeing the same type of complaining from those waiting on iPhones as I see on the Android tech blogs and forums about LG's V launches. It's absolutely bewildering to see the difference.
