We gonna wait until other developer buy this phone and try to make a CUSTOM ROM. Same on Lenovo k5 note user they wait until developer make a CUSTOM ROM. I recommend you to wait and don't trust other site that have a fake ROM.

You can't receive any update if your firmware has been modified nor system or other etc. You must on original state not rooted

Thanks for You snswer. Unfortunately, Nougat is useless for me without Xposed which is not yet available. Stock marshmallow seems fine, but I miss a lot of the RR customisations. I will try Xposed modules for these.
Anyway, mine has stock S116, can update to S123, but I am afraid not to update to Nougat. Is S123 the late st update for marshmallow?

Got reply from lenovo
I contacted lenovo care. They e-mailed me a reply of which I attached a screenshot below. They informed that lenovo is rolling out update for k6 note devices batch-wise.

1. Ok in this How Too we will:
Unlock the Bootloader
Install a custom recovery (TWRP)
Root the phone.
2. Prerequisites:
Correctly installed Drivers for your Phone!!
Get them Here http://developer.sonymobile.com/downloads/drivers/
Fully test ADB and Fastboot before you do anything to ensure all is setup and working correctly. See Setting and Testing for the noobs:
Try this if you still have problems See Here
I will not respond to any adb fastboot not working stuff. If you can't get these working you should not be flashing or rooting phones.
ADB & Fastboot for Windows are contained in this ADB & Fastboot Files .zip HERE. See Post #3 for updated and variant specific recovery's as they become available and be sure to use the correct one for your device and NOT the one in this .zip
3. Setting and Testing for the noobs:
On your device go to Settings/About Phone Scroll to the bottom and tap Build number repeatedly until it says "You are now a developer"
Go back to Settings Scroll to the bottom and you will now see "Developer options" tap on it to enter.
Turn On Developer options and check (tick) the "usb debugging" box.
Also in Developer options check (tick) the "oem unlock" box if it exists.
Connect your phone and PC with a usb cable.
Open a cmd window in the same folder as the adb and fastboot or "cd" (Change Directory) to that folder.
eg: cd C:\Users\bigrammy\Desktop\Phones\Sony C4\adb-recovery\ or in the pro versions of windows Open the adb folder place your cursor inside, hold Shift and right click and from the option box select open "command window here"
Now type
Code:
adb devices
If all is working you should get the serial number of your phone shown saying unauthorised
Check your phone screen and you will see a popup asking if you would like to trust this PC. Place a tick in the box (Always Trust this PC) and press OK.
Now repeat
Code:
adb devices
and you should get the serial number of your phone shown saying "connected".
Now enter
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
The phone will reboot to fastboot a black screen and tiny tiny writing in the bottom left corner
saying Fastboot
Now enter
Code:
fastboot getvar all
the cmd window will show a long list of all the bootloader info (Make a Note of it for future ref)
Output will look like a longer version of this.
Code:
(bootloader) partition-size:preloader: 40000
(bootloader) partition-type:preloader: raw data
(bootloader) version: 0.5
(bootloader) secure: yes
(bootloader) version-baseband: 1292-1552_27.1.A.1.106
(bootloader) version-bootloader: 1292-1556 S1_Boot_MT6752_TC9SP_11
(bootloader) serialno: NONEEDTOKNOW
(bootloader) product: E5303
all: Done!!
finished. total time: 0.159s
Now enter
Code:
fastboot reboot
and the phone will now boot back to system.
Hopefully all is working and we can now move on.
4. Unlocking the Bootloader:
Pre Warning this worked on my phone and I cannot say it will work on yours you may end up with a soft brick so think and research before you proceed.
In this statement from Sony's official bootloader unlocking guide
In your device, open the dialler and enter *#*#7378423#*#* to access the service menu.
Tap Service info > Configuration > Rooting Status. If Bootloader unlock allowed says Yes, then you can continue with the next step. If it says No, or if the status is missing, your device cannot be unlocked.
Click to collapse
My phone stated "NO" and as you can see from the bootloader info above in 3. Setting and Testing for the noobs: said secure = yes but been a I went ahead anyway and here is the weird and lucky for us thing.
After I unlocked it I got (bootloader) secure = NO from fastboot but the system software still reported Bootloader unlock allowed = No :silly:
Nothing tripped no warranty warnings nothing it's like the system never even knew sweet.
So now goto http://developer.sonymobile.com/unlockbootloader/ and select device Xperia C then follow all their instruction. (Credit for this belongs to another member I will add it when I find the post)
When you have booted to "bootloader" use
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
to do so.
Then enter your fastboot cmd line given to you by Sony mine looked like this.
Code:
fastboot -i 0x0fce oem unlock 0xMYDEVICEUNLOCKCODE
When it says "finished" or "Done" hopefully with no errors just enter
Code:
fastboot reboot
Now go make a cup of tea as this will take a good good while because your phone will factory reset wipe all data and then have to rebuild all the cache etc etc before finally fully booting to the system. If you get as far as the boot animation then don't worry and allow a good 15 > 20 mins before panicking.
Well Hopefully you booted into your As New system go through all the setup and re-enable USB Debugging remembering to accept the prompt again from adb to allow this PC as above.
5. Install a custom recovery (TWRP)
Pre Info and Practice:
Copy the SuperSU.zip to the root of your internal and external storage.
Practice Entering recovery and fastboot using the buttons and keys here's a quick tut.
1.Unplug the USB lead and Power off the Phone.
Entering Recovery:
Press and keep held the Volume Down key (-)
Now Press and hold Power Key until you see the Sony Boot Logo then release the Power Key only.
You can release the Volume Down Key when you see the Logo screen change or you are in recovery.
Entering Bootloader:
As above but using the Volume UP key (+) instead.
Bootloader is Black screen tiny text "fastboot" bottom left corner.
Once you have mastered this it's time to move on.
Enter bootloader manually or via adb
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
Check the bootloader status
Code:
fastboot getvar all
output should show
Code:
(bootloader) secure: No
in the last few lines.
If it says No enter
Code:
fastboot flash fotakernel fotakernel.img
It should display a size and some seconds info with complete or success you should see NO warning or errors.
THIS IS IMPORTANT
The rom has
Code:
recovery.from.boot.p
if the phone boots to system at this point the recovery you just flashed will be replaced by the stock one and you will need to repeat the above.
Once the fotakernel.img is flashed just unplug the USB cable and the phone will power OFF.
This is where your practice from earlier becomes useful
Using the Keys boot to recovery (Volume Down) when TWRP boots you will get a warning about it not mounting system just tick you want it to mount /system nothing in our system seems to trip so everything is cool.
You could make a /system backup at this point if you wanted to restore a unrooted version at any point.
In TWRP Go to "Install" and find the SuperSU.zip select it and swipe to flash it.
When that's done go to mounts and tick "system" go back to Home then go to /Advanced/file manager/system find recovery.from.boot.p and if it exists press and hold it from the popup menu select Delete.
Now press the Home icon and that's it you're rooted with no chance of the recovery getting replaced unless you do it yourselves.
Now Reboot to system.
The recovery supports mtp/adb see mount options so you can copy files to and from the PC
Only thing I may to try fix later is usb/otg when I get time as I will have to plough through all the init. files to find where sony put the mount point Fixed see Post #3.
6. Files and recovery's

These recovery's are the same as the original one's but I have now have fixed usb-otg (storage)

I have tested it with fat32 and it works fine but I can't guarantee it will work with all
File Systems although it is set to AUTO so should detect the correct FS format.

1. Download and extract the fotakernel.img from the Applicable .zip for your device.
2. Copy the fotakernel.img to the root of your sdcard.

If you mean before unlocking the bootloader then no it's impossible without root :silly:
As far as the system is concerned I never unlocked the bootloader so TA seems to be unaffected track id bravia eng 2 all seem to work fine.
I did the same on my ZL and that too seemed unaffected I am not sure about OTA updates as both my devices are on the latest Software versions so no OTA's as yet
I'll play with this on my US E5306 when I get home and report back.
Whoa, thanks. Can someone put a nice UI over this please?
Boot to bootloader via adb
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
Check the bootloader status
Code:
fastboot getvar all
output should show “(bootloader) secure: No” in the last few lines.
If it says No enter
Code:
fastboot flash fotakernel fotakernel.img
It should display a size and some seconds info with complete or success you should see NO warning or errors.
I'm stuck in this part. In the log ": Yes Secure" appears me. What I have to do to "Secure: Not" appears me.
Thanks.
I'd like to help. I have c5 ultra and bootloader allowed to unlock. My problem is i dont have a pc nor i am not allowed to use it. Dont ask why... I would like to give the kernel but i will need a pc right?

Follow all the steps from the start exactly as I wrote and read carefully. If you received no Errors then you probably did not reboot to system before rechecking the status in fastboot. Software/Firmware and I believe even flashtool thinks the bootloader is still locked but we know different

It's an E5333
YES NO??
To make things clear for those who do not read English well.
When you dial the *#*#7378423#*#* and go to the Configuration > Rooting Status for most it shows NO and will still show NO even after you have unlocked the bootloader.
When you are in Fastboot and do get var all that will show your true status secure = Yes for most before you run the bootloader Unlock from Sony.
After you run the bootloader Unlock from Sony it will show secure = No Enjoy rooting the phone and having a custom recovery :good:
I hope that makes it cleaer.

Unless you've messed up the TA partition, our phones are pretty hard to brick. If you hold vol_up then plug in USB to your PC, it should boot into flash mode with a blue LED. That means you can use Flashtool to flash an FTF file to the phone, effectively factory program it.

INSTRUCTIONS: [redmi note 3]
1. Get into fastboot mode. Charge the phone first. Hold the power button and the volume down button simultaenously.
2. If you can open your current rom, open developer options by clicking on the build no several times in the about phone menu in settings. and select allow oem unlocking and usb debugging.
3. if not leave it... go on and connect your phone to the PC while in fastboot mode.
BUT, before that: open Command prompt on your PC. (search it on the search box). right click on it and open it in administrator mode.
type in: bcdedit /set testsigning on
hit enter and restart your pc
(this is imp.)
4. open the zip file and extract the contents. open the boot edl mode folder and click the edl.bat file. allow it to run.
5. now screen will turn black, do not disturb it. Now flash the twrp by running flash twrp.bat from the 'flash TWRP' folder.
6. Now go to Unlock folder and run the unlock bootloader.bat file.
your phone will boot into the TWRP recovery mode automatically.
if it opens in chineese you select every tab and find the globe icon.
if the globe icon is found on any of the tab select it and change the language to ENGLISH.
wipe your system from the wipe tab:
Now download the latest CM13 SNAPSHOT BUILD ROM FOR YOUR REDMI:
https://download.cyanogenmod.org/get/kenzo-snapshot.zip
and GAPPS:
http://opengapps.org/?api=6.0&variant=mini
do select the arm 64 version and mini one.
download from your pc and copy it to micro sd card. enter this card into you phone and go to mount in twrp.
mount the micro sd card storage.
select the zip file on the micro sd card from the install tab on twrp and flash it.
now go back and flash open gapps zip file.
now REBOOT to system. everything will work fine....

Question Current/potential rooting situation of Xiaomi 12T Pro

Hello everyone, this is my first post here, I'm planning on buying a phone with high specs, good camera and the possibility to access root so my attention went to Xiaomi 12T Pro.
I've seen a two-weeks old post on reddit where some guy with this same phone asked for help and ultimately managed to root it using magisk, however the 12T pro has a snapdragon chipset and from my last experience (about 6 years ago) snapdragon devices can't be rooted? Maybe that guy had the normal 12 pro and got confused with the name?
Anyway I have a laptop so if there's a possibility/potential in the future to root this phone I might as well buy it.
If you want I can also link the reddit post so you can give it a look.
Thanks everyone.
Edit: thanks for the answers, when I buy this phone an root it I can let you know how it went.

Hello , You can unlock bootloader then root your device easily with magisk , xiaomi devices are root friendly if you need any help lemme know i will do as much as i can
I would love a step-by-step, hold my hand type of tutorial. If some of you have spare time to do something good for the less capable brothers here, it will be great.
Yeah step by step Link would bei very helpful
Here is step-by-step tutorial
Step 1 Unlock bootloader (it will erase ALL YOUR DATA)
1) create and login in Mi account
2) go to settings>My device>All specs> click MIUI version several times
3) go to settings>additional settings>developer options> here enable OEM unlocking, usb debugging and link your Mi accont to phone
4) download latest MI unlock tool from official site https://en.miui.com/unlock/download_en.html and unzip the archive into a folder
5) download qualcomm usb drivers or launch driver_install_64.exe in downloaded MI unlock tool folder
6) launch miflash_unlock.exe and login in your MI account, hold power and volume down for 5-7 sec to boot in fastboot mode, connect phone to pc
7) try to unlock (it will say to wait 1-7 days and try again)
8) Voila, your phone unlocked and wiped
Step 2 flashing or booting TWRP
1) go to settings>additional settings>developer options> here enable usb debugging
2) download platform-tools https://developer.android.com/studio/releases/platform-tools
3) download TWRP https://mega.nz/file/USUjQR4D#g8_rCCouOcJLK4DrryIyHbE99dwP4Hj-T-XSBtoSx6Q
3) unzip the archive into a folder
4) put twrp-3.6.2_A12-diting-skkk.img in the same folder
4) run cmd (win+r and type "cmd")
5) type "cd path/to/folder" (if folder not on C drive run "DriveLetter:" for example "D:"
6) boot in fastboot and connect phone to pc
7) type "fastboot devices" your phone should appear
Method 1 flashing TWRP (recomended)
pros: easily accesible (just hold power and volume up for 5-7 sec)
cons: replaces original recovery
8) type "fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.6.2_A12-diting-skkk.img"
9) fastboot reboot
10) hold power and volume up for 5-7 sec)
11) install magisk (flash downloaded magisk.apk or zip in recovery)
Method 2 booting in TWRP (not recommended on this device, may cause bootloop)
pros: original recovery wont be replaced
cons: loads temporary recovery, once you booted system or disabled device TWRP will be erased
8) type "fastboot boot twrp-3.6.2_A12-diting-skkk.img"
9) install magisk (flash downloaded magisk.apk or zip in recovery)

Just confirming: in the TWRP page, the 12T Pro is not listed as a compatible device (https://twrp.me/Devices/Xiaomi/).
Will the provided version of the TWRP work? I would like to avoid boot loops or even a hard brick.
And, would Orange Fox work too? Could you point us the correct version?
TIA.
Just did as instructed and it works. Only bummer is that twrp is in Chinese. I did google a youtube video and followed instructions to change language. So far all good.
Do OTA updates still work after rooting? Or what is the process to upgrading once rooted?

You mean "fastboot devices", as it is already in fastboot
booting to recovery ended in error for me " FAILED (Status read failed (Too many links))" which led to bootloop.
I reflashed original ROM and I will try flashing.
flashing the recovery went as sharp as possible.
I do not recommend to boot into recovery before flashing it.

I didn't tried to boot without installing, I think there is a problem with A/B slots. On devices without B slot booting in TWRP should work as intended.

Provided version works on my device (Mi 12T Pro, Global ROM). Hardbrick is impossible if flashing TWRP in recovery partition.
I didn't found compatible Orangefox recovery
There are 3 versions of TWRP:
BOOT:
Command:
fastboot boot twrp.img
powershell
./fastboot boot twrp.img
then in Twrp go to Advanced -> flash current TWRP
REC:
Update with existing TWRP.
gold
CMD
fastboot flash recovery_ab twrp.img***
powershell
./fastboot flash recovery_ab twrp.img***
BOOT REC:
Both methods
On this thread the proposed version is REC.
***Remove lock screen security and reboot to decrypt data then install TWRP.
Reboot with the buttons combination and not with a fastboot command
Update REC

Then reboot TWRP
No need TWRP for Rooting
Root:
1. Find or redownload the TGZ file for your current ROM
2. Browse inside the zip file and find boot.img under the images folder
3. Copy this file to a temporary location in your PC first, and then transfer it to your phone
4. Install the desired version of Magisk app (V23?)
5. Run the app and choose Install under Magisk
6. Choose Select and Patch a File, then select the boot.img that was transferred earlier
7. A process will run and create a new .img file in the same folder where the original one was
8. Transfer the new file to your PC in the same directory where fastboot.exe is located
9. Open a command prompt window in that same directory
10. Reboot your phone to fastboot mode and connect to PC, USB2.0 port. Check for connection by running command fastboot devices.
11. Run the command fastboot flash boot_ab magiskXXXX.img
Once it's completed, run command fastboot reboot and the phone should boot and be rooted.

Maybe you have already tried this (your links don't work):
magisk/settings/hide Magisk, renaming it..
Zygisk enable/enforce exclusion list enable.
Configure exclusion list / display system apps / check those related to your problem.
Reboot.
