Hmm, it's posted ALL OVER XDA. The Sprint S8+ has a locked bootloader. As of now, we don't have root.

Many phone with locked bootloaders has root. I know is hardest than unlocked bootloaders but is not impossible.
I hope will be as soon as possible.
Thanks

I wonder if it's going to brick a Snapdragon S8 or will it just not work. That site doesn't even mention the two types of chipsets, at least not that I found on a quick reading.

This is a paid option and not for developer types like us. I am not convinced they support our USA model 955U anyway.
I would think Chainfire might come out with something like happened with S7 Edge. We shall see. Been 3 weeks.

Think you missed the "lol" portion if my post

So I have been doing some research and the same kind of issue was occurring with the S7/Edge and there was a modified ODIN and "Engineering" boot.img (kernel) that claims to root the device. So I am curious if using that "modified hack" version of ODIN and a boot.img that has a kernel compatible with snapdragon (the only one I see in main s8+ forum is for Exynos). Not sure if this is really safe to do but I am guessing that once enough devs want root on this device, something will be out there. Has anyone tried KingRoot?

I have trieed Kingroot but always fail!!!
I hope Chainfire can do something for us.
Anyway: eng kernel exist for this device? Snapdragon version ofcourse.

I contacted the support team for oneclickroot and they said that they do not have a root for the US versions of the S8+.

Was wondering if there would be a way to modify and or port the s7 boot.img to an s8+ variant? Maybe even a way to "trick" it as to read it like an exynos vairant processor?

i just bougt sprint s8+ off swappa. any update to the rooting it cause im gonna unlock it.

I've tried KingRoot, but it's hot garbage. Seeing so much in the way of information regarding the S8 Plus having a locked bootloader (Sprint ENG_US version or any other carrier variant for that matter), and I was wondering if there is any new information? Eager to root this bad boy, but no bueno thus far. I'm seeing the information for international ones using the Exynos, but I found this 'CF-Auto-Root-dream2qltesq-dream2qltesq-smg955u.tar' earlier this afternoon. Not even sure if this is compatible and I'm not going to be the guinea pig today. Has anybody else messed with this kit?
Anybody have any relevant information pertaining to effective rooting of the S8 Plus on Sprint by chance? Until I hear of some success with this, I'm not going to attempt. Got a bit of a qualm with a $1K paperweight. Please advise.
Thanks!

[Q] Any updates with rooting ND7?

Just looking to root the most current OTA, my search so far makes me believe its not possible. Is this true or am I missing something?
Thnak you!
I'm wondering the same thing. I recently had to get a replacement phone and unfortunately it's running stock 4.4.2. First time I've ever had a phone with a bootloader that couldn't be unlocked. I would like to at least have my phone rooted. Anyone out there willing to share a root solution with us?

Yeah it really sucks. I need root to fully make use of my chromecast. A bunch of devices received screen mirroring but not the note 2. Such a sinple thing but so difficult to root. Hope we can get root soon. Thank you to anyone who is still working on this.

[Q] Root for AT&T variant G850A?

Is anyone working on a root for the AT&T variant of the Alpha? Please and Thank you.
Been waiting for a root as well. Hopefully a developer will come up with one soon. Loving the phone.
Yes, anything to allow me to remove the stock bloatware and install a proper adblocker. Surprisingly this variant of Touchwiz isn't all that bad though, at least.

I agree. Just want the Root and recovery. I heard that Devs are having a hard time because of the CPU.

Which CPU? Doesn't the AT&T version have a Snapdragon 801? I thought dealing with that CPU is easier than dealing with the Exynos.
Yes, waiting as well. Got my Alpha (G850A) as a replacement for my Galaxy 3.

still no chances for root? after buying a oneplus one im now ready to experiment(wont be too upset if i brick it) on the alpha if anyone has any sketchy ideas for root on att alpha
Isnt all ATT phone are bootloader lock? That means you cannot install things like TWRP. If you cant install TWRP, then you cant install any cook roms. Correct me.
That is why people buy T-mobile phone to use on ATT.

At this point, since the phone is not well supported, there are no chances for root.

Ok, I understand that we already have root, but I have used auto root many times with other phones. I am always able to install TWRP directly after on any phone I use. I guess maybe its because the bootloaders are already unlocked?

Our bootloader is locked so auto root and mobile odin and other similar programs won't work with the Verizon s4. Those that are lucky to still be on the mdk bootloader are the only ones that can install twrp or cwm

Unfortunately this device will likely be locked just like the J327T.
I have been watching that thread and everything that has been tried is pretty much what I attempted to explain would be a waste of time.
The combination firmware is useless to gain root on nougat.
No auto root is ever gonna work either and neither is Flashfire or SuperSU.
There is a list of reasons why these things won't work, but I'll not waste my time in that thread explaining why.
I don't mind explaining further why here. Just so others will not waste efforts like on the J327T thread.
I'll let that thread run its course until all avenues have reached their inevitable dead ends.
They are harsh words, but unfortunately they are truth.
Suffice to say that the only real way for this device to see root is either an unlocked bootloader (highly unlikely), a proper engineering binary or an exploit is released for Android 7.
If an exploit is found then Kingroot will almost certainly incorporate it in their Software and then there maybe a chance that the combination binary (not the whole firmware) will help get root.
If anyone can confirm for sure this device doesn't have a locked bootloader then I'd be happy to work on it.

Yes there is a fairly easy way.
Also you need to read my posts in that thread you linked.
I have requested several times for it to be closed.
Nothing in that thread will work.
Again it comes down to people who don't understand what they are posting.
It's not me being negative, these things just don't work. If you want me to go in to detail for why then I can explain.

No, do bother going into detail, i prolly wouldnt understand.
If/When you work on either the J327T or J727T, i'm here to test....
BTW Chimera is saying them can root both devices. Before i think of putting up the money, what are your thoughts? At that point i might be rooted but no recovery
J727T/1 Recovery/Root (SS SafeStrap)???
Would this work?
Or be a good place to start, building off it???
IF I remember right, it was used for the S4 or S5 att, with same issue. It would set up recovery after bootloader, or something like that. I'm no noon, but not a senior either.
Just a suggestion??
Would be great if someone could implement it to work??
What u think?

Does anyone have any thoughts on this here idea?

S21 usa sm-g991u root

So hey everyone noob here. I am starting a new work from home job and was having interent issues and it got me to realize I need a way to have internet for emergency purposes. Hence why im here i havent rooted a phone before. I have had rooted device but I've never done it. I'm needed a way to natively use hotspot for an emergency basis. I've tired to look around on the forums and on the internet to no luck(could be user error) does anyone no or have a way to root this device. I'm assuming it's a snapdragon processor since I'm in the USA. Verizon is the carrier
Have you tried the Guides section for this device?
If it is indeed a Snapdragon device, it is likely the bootloader cannot be unlocked, therefore it is not rootable.
