S21 usa sm-g991u root - Samsung Galaxy S21 Questions

So hey everyone noob here. I am starting a new work from home job and was having interent issues and it got me to realize I need a way to have internet for emergency purposes. Hence why im here i havent rooted a phone before. I have had rooted device but I've never done it. I'm needed a way to natively use hotspot for an emergency basis. I've tired to look around on the forums and on the internet to no luck(could be user error) does anyone no or have a way to root this device. I'm assuming it's a snapdragon processor since I'm in the USA. Verizon is the carrier

Have you tried the Guides section for this device?
If it is indeed a Snapdragon device, it is likely the bootloader cannot be unlocked, therefore it is not rootable.

[Q] Unlocking the VeriZon SGS4 SH-I545

Hey guys,
My cousin's friend bought him a second-hand Verizon SGS4 SH-I545. Little did he know my cousin is not on Verizon.
I said: No matter we got XXA baby!
So here are my questions:
1. What is the latest firmware that you recommend him to flash? He is currently on: I545VRUFNC5 - which I see as the latest on SamMobile.
2. Is the phone locked in any way? If so, what's the best way to unlock it?
3. I want to have him rooted using a stock kernel, so that he can get rid of bloatware and use Titanium Backup
Suggestions, guides, links are all appreciated
Thank you!

There's so much info there and more so it is apparently impossible to downgrade to bootloader and thus flash?
I just want someone to list it down for me in simple bullet points - not direct me to massive threads that have 20 links in them

Why would we want to type all that over again? Read the sticky: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2606501
If you won't be bothered to read that, then here's some short, bullet points:
You can't downgrade the bootloader.
You can't have a custom recovery (except for the unsupported Safestrap)
You can't have CyanogenMod.
The only ROMs you can flash are those that are Safestrap and NC5 compatible
You can root using Towelroot
However, please read the sticky at the very least. If you won't do that, you WILL brick your phone.

S4 has alot of peculiarities, depending on firmware series. Once you go past MDK, custom recovery is limited to Safestrap and yet we see people all the time trying to load Twrp or CWM and end up borking their phone. Simple reading would prevent almost all those situations from happening. I know I had my thunderbolt for a couple years and loaded a ton of ROMS on it and when I moved up to S4 it was a rude awakening on what I can and can't do.
There is a lot of info to digest, even for the experienced people. Lately with kitkat many people run into wifi and bluetooth issues. Why? Mostly because they aren't loading right modules that have been discussed countless times.

I totally agree - that's why I'm asking as I'm unsure.
Last thing I want is something going wrong - and due to it being locked I don't want him running into problems.
So from what I understand I can't flash down and then flash back up?
I can however root? But what about unlocking?

OK - so my cousin tried putting another SIM in the phone (T-MOBILE) and he wasn't able to get it registered on network - it wouldn't allow him to do so.
Thus the phone is not sim locked then?
What do I have to do in order to unlock it? That's all I want to do and then root it after that.

No, it is not SIM locked. This is yet another frequently asked question, sadly.
The phone is configured with Verizon APNs. When you install a non-Verizon SIM, you must configure the APN for your non-Verizon carrier. (Settings/More networks/Mobile networks/Access Point Names, use the "+" to add an APN.)
Hopefully T-mo has a band in common with your VZ phone in your area.

Samsung Updates
OK I have the device rooted and running Hyperdrive 17.1. The only issue I'm having is how to block Samsung's constant attempt at upgrading the software. Running a custom Rom with Safestrap on Kit Kat. Anyway to get rid of that annoying reminder from Samsung about software updates???
Thanks

Well if you're on stock Touchwiz you freeze SDM using TiBu. I believe hyperdrive already has SDM removed?!
Are you talking about the Security Policy update? If that is what you're talking about just search for that using TiBu and freeze that....

[Q] Any updates with rooting ND7?

Just looking to root the most current OTA, my search so far makes me believe its not possible. Is this true or am I missing something?
Thnak you!
I'm wondering the same thing. I recently had to get a replacement phone and unfortunately it's running stock 4.4.2. First time I've ever had a phone with a bootloader that couldn't be unlocked. I would like to at least have my phone rooted. Anyone out there willing to share a root solution with us?

This is a paid option and not for developer types like us. I am not convinced they support our USA model 955U anyway.
I would think Chainfire might come out with something like happened with S7 Edge. We shall see. Been 3 weeks.

Think you missed the "lol" portion if my post
So I have been doing some research and the same kind of issue was occurring with the S7/Edge and there was a modified ODIN and "Engineering" boot.img (kernel) that claims to root the device. So I am curious if using that "modified hack" version of ODIN and a boot.img that has a kernel compatible with snapdragon (the only one I see in main s8+ forum is for Exynos). Not sure if this is really safe to do but I am guessing that once enough devs want root on this device, something will be out there. Has anyone tried KingRoot?
I have trieed Kingroot but always fail!!!
I hope Chainfire can do something for us.
Anyway: eng kernel exist for this device? Snapdragon version ofcourse.
I contacted the support team for oneclickroot and they said that they do not have a root for the US versions of the S8+.
Was wondering if there would be a way to modify and or port the s7 boot.img to an s8+ variant? Maybe even a way to "trick" it as to read it like an exynos vairant processor?
i just bougt sprint s8+ off swappa. any update to the rooting it cause im gonna unlock it.

I've tried KingRoot, but it's hot garbage. Seeing so much in the way of information regarding the S8 Plus having a locked bootloader (Sprint ENG_US version or any other carrier variant for that matter), and I was wondering if there is any new information? Eager to root this bad boy, but no bueno thus far. I'm seeing the information for international ones using the Exynos, but I found this 'CF-Auto-Root-dream2qltesq-dream2qltesq-smg955u.tar' earlier this afternoon. Not even sure if this is compatible and I'm not going to be the guinea pig today. Has anybody else messed with this kit?
Anybody have any relevant information pertaining to effective rooting of the S8 Plus on Sprint by chance? Until I hear of some success with this, I'm not going to attempt. Got a bit of a qualm with a $1K paperweight. Please advise.
Thanks!

Question New to The A7 lite need some help.

Long story short.
I picked up this cheap tablet because i want to install it in my car permanently. If it gets stolen it's easily replaceable. It is a SM-T227U
Upon buying it I've found out a couple things. I can't root it? And
I cant use android auto on it.
I've heen digging through these forums but the threads are kinda confusing. Would anyone have time to walk me through a root process and show me how to obtain whatever os I need to accomplish what I'm trying to do? My biggest concern right now is getting android auto to connect wirelessly to my Kenwood.
I side loaded the apk but, my device still won't connect for audio. Only calls. Which I don't have lol

Question Xperia 5 IV Model Decision - XQ-CQ54 vs XQ-CQ72

As someone living in the USA and using T-Mobile as a provider, is there a significant difference between the XQ-CQ54 and XQ-CQ72 models? If so, which one should I go with?
I will not be using the XQ-CQ62 (US version) because the bootloader cannot be unlocked and I would like to use a custom ROM.
You can unlock the bootloader on 62 but it cost about 20 bucks..its a recent hack ... Xda isnt allowing guides with money involved so that's why theres none posted here.
Other then that i think 54 version aka european is way better then chinese 72. Just for esim alone

would love to hear about your experience with the tool
I have the US version and found out the hard way that its bootloader can't be unlocked. I've always had a rooted phone, BUT I would say this phone has everything that I want and need. And Android 13 now has features that I used root phones to get. On the flip side, I have seen people that have the 1 iv US version and they've used the mentioned tool, and were able to change the no to a yes. As long as Sony keeps pumping out updates, I'm good for now on stock, but I may revisit the tool if updates stop.
