Changing to permissive selinux problem marshmallow - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Dear XDA Friends,
I have a problem changing SELinux to permissive. Whenever i do, it returns to enforcing and does not stay on permissive using the selinuxmodchanger. I have busybox installed as well as root and i have flashed recovery. I also use stock rom from Sammobile 6.0.1 mmb29m.g900fxxs1cqc1 build number, band g900fxxs1cqav.
How can i change the selinux to permissive on boot (want to install Viper4Android)?

Not stock, stock kernel is like "read only", any changes to the kernel is reverted back automatically, i suggest you switch to another ROM, or use a custom kernel that works on stock ROM.

Hi all,
Here you got Prerooted stock rom that might be useful for those wanting the latest stock rom but don't have access to Odin
-Base rom: N910FXXU1ANK5.
-Nothing has been added or removed with the exception of the files needed to have root permissions.
-Only 2 build prop lines have been modified to fix some things that usually stop working once root is applied (screen mirroring and private mode).
Everything else is totally untouched.
Download it HERE
DANGER:
IF FLASH THIS YOUR COUNT KNOX INCREMENT TO 0X1
Thanks to Chainfire (root) JustArchi (archi kitchen) and sawdoctor for letting me know about build.prop fixes.
Great. Thank you!
I've been looking for a pure stock rom.
Sent from a mobile gadget...
any changes or improvements over the nk4 based rom?
There are no changes, official changelist is the same for ANK4/5/6.
Just installed the ROM and uninstalled all bloatware. Works flawless.
Guys I flashed stock rom and lost root, chain fire website says bandwidth exceeded when I try to download auto root, is there any other way to root??
ro.secure.storage.support is not right. ro.securestorage.support is the right line. You find it the build.prop file.
Thanks this is the fastest rom what i try.
I only debloated, flashed AEL kernel and switched to ART runtime.
Hello guys,
just a question, please.
Is it safe to flash it directly from stock rooted NJ4?
Or is it necessary to flash new modem and bootloader through Odin first?
Thanks for your help.

I flashed the NK4 bootloader and modem to install a NK4 ROM.
It doesn't boot until you install a NK4 ROM.
I then flashed this after as I didn't like the ROM I was on and I have had no issues.
Can someone provide the stock kernel to this ROM please? Currently on AEL kernel but I am really bad at kernel tweaking

Because I felt like it... who are you to question what I do with my own phone?
Maybe I flashed it because you don't always need to tweak custom kernels. Then realised to get the very most out of them i would need to tweak it.
Learning by doing, it's what xda is about. I'm still looking for the first dude waking up knowing it all
I think I found a how to in one of the kernel threads.

Is it possible to update to 6.0.1 from 5.1.1

Hello everyone,
Firstly, I would like to apologize if this question has been answered before, I simply cannot find the answer for it. So I am currently rooted on 5.1.1 with, (according to the About Device section of my phone)
Kernel version:
3.10.61-S6_Unikernel_v9-0000initial
[email protected] #1
Thu Sep 10 19:10:19 BST 2015
Build Number: XtreStoLite Deo Mod v.2.4 - XXU3COI9
According to my model number, it says my model number is SM-G925K, but my original build number was SM-G925W8.
Also, I am using TWRP recovery
So like I have started in the title, I would like to update to 6.0.1 stock, and then root it and install a custom rom. I have bought my phone from Rogers, and am on a 2 year contract with them.
I am COMPLETE noob when it comes to this, so anything to help is appreciated, I recently switched from iPhone to Android
EDIT #1: I am only asking this question because my carrier has not rolled out the firmware yet, and I am not on stock firmware anymore so I was wondering if it was possible to update, I don't want to end up with a bricked device

Okay so instead of updating via smartswitch, I downloaded the firmware via a website (not sure if I am able to mention it here, but I won't anyway) for my model (SM-G925W8) and flashed it via Odin. Then I rooted via CF-AutoRoot by Chainfire, and am currently installing Xtrestolite 3.3.1

What are custom kernels? Do I need one? What is SELinux and should it be Permissive or Enforcing?

SELinux is a set of kernel modifications and user-space tools
u dont need custom kernel as my opinion
custom kernels with comes Permissive
and official kernels comes with enforcing

I don't know if this is significant, but the reason I asked about SELinux is because when I open TWRP manager and it tells me my TWRP version, it says Please set SELinux to Permissive in order to view this

Samsung Galaxy Core Prime (SM-G360T) Stock Kernel Permissive Request

SYSTEMLESS ROOT WITH SYSTEMLESS XPOSED IS OUT FOR 5.1.1 BUT DOESN'T FULLY WORK FOR OUR DEVICE DUE TO NOT HAVING A PERMISSIVE "STOCK" KERNEL AVAILABLE. SHINYSIDE'S KERNEL WAS GOOD WHEN SYSTEMLESS ROOT WASN'T AROUND BUT NOW SINCE ITS HERE , HAVING A HEAVILY MODIFIED KERNEL TO INSTALL SYSTEM ROOT AND BUSYBOX ISN'T NECESSARY ANYMORE WE NEED A NEW STOCK PERMISSIVE KERNEL.. SHINYSIDE'S KERNEL ISN'T COMPATIBLE WITH SYSTEMLESS XPOSED 86.5 AS WHEN IT TRIES TO UNMOUNT ROOT IT IS UNABLE TO BECAUSE OF THE WAY THE KERNEL WAS COMPILED AND BECAUSE IT WAS PORTED, NOT CREATED FROM SCRATCH.
I WAS WONDERING IF SOMEONE CAN COOK UP A STOCK PERMISSIVE KERNEL with INT.D SUPPORT FROM THE LATEST UPDATE FOR OUR DEVICE WHICH IS THE SM-G360T AND SM-G360T1 please:good::good::fingers-crossed:

Holy CAPS! Not sure why this is so urgent though. Personally I'd rather see more roms for this device, than more kernels. Trapkernel has served me pretty well for a year now. Why don't you just try rooting with SuperSU, as you can do that now?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=67904926
Probably best to start with the stock kernel though maybe if you do.

Also, Systemless root for 5.1.1 just doesn't exist. There have been heavily modified versions of Chainfire's systemless root but that's for custom devices with more support. It's not a kernel thing, it's an entire feature you're asking that could take months to create. I'd recommend doing research before ranting here on XDA as it just creates spam.

Well official systemless root for android 5.1.1 and 6.0.1 by Chainfire has been out since it released... it even patches the kernel so it runs without bootlooping... now topjohnwu developed a modified systemless root with systemless xposed that can be unmounted instantly using his magisk app to use apps that use safetynet and works flawlessly on both my samsung s6 edge devices running 5.1.1 and 6.0.1 using stock permissive... the reason why I am looking for a stock permissive kernel is becasue i have problems with shinyside's trapkernel... this kernel doesnt let me mount or unmount root while stock kernel does... but its stock enforcing kernel and some root apps and xposed apps dont work at all with it but with permissive kernel it works flawlessly...
I will post images shortly 3 of them for the smg360T1 and one from my s6 edge running 5.1.1 with stock permissive
Both Official systemless and unofficial systemless root are supposed to switch selinux to permissive but they dont work on samsung phones thats why one has to be compiled from source or if anyone can set stock kernel to permissive without busybox or autoroot

TWRP doenst work with replaced mainboard

Hey XDA-Community
I sent my phone to oneplus for repairing it. They wrote that as solution for my problem (speakers didn't work) they just replaced the mainboard. But now I'm unable to install TWRP persistently. After every reboot I get the stock recovery. Furthermore if I'm in TWRP wich I just booted from fastboot I can't install anything. If I want to flash SuperSu it says errors like: "Unable to find partition size for '/boot'" (also other partitions like '/recovery', '/misc'...) then in the console the folowing error gets displayed: "Unable to mount '/data' (Invalid argument)" this continues with all the other partitions, and then (obviously) SuperSU doesn't get installed. I have attached a screentshot about my phone info. Do you have any idea how I can fix this? Do you need any further information? Feel free to ask.

I did that, and tried it for a few days. But unfortunately most of my Apps crash all the time, or after a few minutes. Sometimes I cant, lock or unlock my screen and root with SUperSU just disapperes sometimes Sadly this custom rom is very unstable. Is there maybe ANY way I cold just flash the Android 6 stock ROM on it and root it with anything? I really don't care what I have to do for rooting it, but this ROM is just too buggy... but it looks nice, and having Android 7 is also ver cool:fingers-crossed::good:

I have the same build number as OP (E1003_15_161107). Phone is untouched and on stock ROM. Read things about our devices being different than others and hence little to no ROM support. So I am a bit lost. I reckon recovery provided by you works well on our device. What about the ROMs ? Can I flash any of my choice ? And Kernels ? Can I opt for kernels other than Arsenic ? (Big fan of Franco. Using his kernel on my OPO)

Yes you can flash any rom of your choice, just make sure you flash Arsenic R46 along with the rom zip as kernel is what makes your device boot. I'm not sure about franco's kernel so better ask in his respective thread?
No Luck for me.
Version 3.2.1-0 not work here.

Root, Custom Rom, Kernel and updates

Hi all, at the moment I have the RR custom rom with my OP7Tpro rooted.
How to update the ROM without losing the root permissions?
How to flash a new kernel without breaking everything? (I was trying to figure out what's the best between arter97 and blu_spark)
How to do both things in a row? first the new rom and then the kernel or viceversa?
Thanks in advance
1) https://www.reddit.com/r/oneplus/comments/cnejw1/how_to_apply_ota_updates_on_your_op77_pro_and/ ah sorry you have RR i dont know im on OOS
2) FK kernel manager ( there you can backup you kernel or flash a new one), but arter97 is for OOS and blu_spark i dont know but i think it is the same
3) rom then kernel

(1) Update by following the update instructions on the RR ROM 1st post - then patch the "boot.img" using Magisk --> then use computer to "fastboot flash boot [your Magisk patched boot].img".
(2) RR ROM has own (lineage-based? kernel) - OP doesn't recommend custom kernels as might break some features (arter97 kernel on RR ROM breaks in-screen FP function for e.g).
(3) Usually advised to flash custom ROM then kernel.
