Custom rom For LG Aristo - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi I was wondering if someone was working on maybe a cm based rom for the LG aristo? Or someone compiling a kernel for it? It's been out since about January and a lot of people have it but no one really seems to focus on side market devices anymore.

Ive been having this device about as long and looking for a good alternative ROM or even good mods myself

I have the kernel if anyone wants to make one. https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0Bzk7IAINn5jfeDRQc3JwZ1F1aXM

Would anyone be willing to make a port from lineage or miui or anything? I can be the test mule. I've been trying to learn rom building but it's going to take me a very long time to be able to finish my first one.

Just download the stock TMobile KDZ and install.
Or you can use the metro zip and add the proper apns to enable proper cell service.

EASIER WAY TO TWEAK CPU SPEEDS
For those who would like to disable hardware throttling on the LG Aristo I've come up with my own way to disable that rather than to go through to each core and tweak their control file as Need4Sneed has done. for my little trick you simply need to navigate to /system/etc. now from there scroll down until you see two thermal engine files: thermal-engine-8937.conf and thermal-engine-default.conf
simply change conf from within the file extension name to bak then restart. NO NEED TO DELETE THE FILES. Safer than sorry. after that your cpu will by default reach 1.4ghz. now that may be sweet as heck but you gotta remember; speed generates heat. also the snapdragon 425 is known to get hot. well thats a lie... its known to get scorching hot. like teabag a volcano hot. well you get the point. this is NOT for heavy gaming, trust me I've tried. and well my finger got burnt, yes it gets that hot. without thermal files your phone will not take preventative measures to dissipate heat but rather hit the max temperature and shut itself down all while grilling your fingers like chicken tenders. yum. so with that said its only natural. though this cannot in any way prevent your phone from booting it may cause hardware damage which may get so bad it eventually may prevent your phone from booting in that instance I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR BROKEN HARDWARE OR SOFTWARE.
upon messing around with the clock speeds with kernel auditor which does require root (messi2080) <-- da root mon --> seems the best clock speed is around 1.094ghz and the gpu speed must be lowered to at least 400mhz if your feeling ballsy then maybe you can fade 523mhz but never 598mhz. lets just say its like a really fast motorcycle with no cooling. simply put the motorcycle explodes. same concept and I wouldn't push a phone that hard as sadly :'( its my daily driver I suppose maybe the same does or doesn't apply to you but do have fun just be careful. :good:

Don't delete it.
Just rename it. Add .Bak to the filename. And when you want it back, remove the .bak

For example, say the file's name is "thermal.conf". You can change the file name to " thermal.conf.bak" and the system will act like the thermal.conf file doesn't exist.
If you want to use the file again, just change the file name back to thermal.conf

Is anyone else developing anything for this device?
I'm about to try to build multi-rom for it or dualboot patcher ...

Lg aristo 2 rom port to lg aristo
Has anyone been able to port the lg aristo 2 rom to the lg aristo, i would like to flash the stock rom for lg Aristo 2 on my LG Aristo 1

This device gets no love :crying: The only roms available for this device are the ipioneer rom (a stock lg rom) and a debloated stock lg rom....

[REQ] Overclockability App

Idea for App:
Basically what I am looking for the app to do is incrementally raise the min and max settings for the CPU, change CPU governor to performance, and run stress test for 30 seconds to 1 minute. It would then repeat until all speeds are verified as good or the phone freezes or reboots. If either occurs then the app would tell the user the last speed that was stable. See here for what I posted in the Vipermod thread for more info of what I am talking about.
Is this possible? Has it already been made and I just can't find it?

stop being a cheapo and buy SetCPU... it has all that plus more. >.>
onl difference is you gotta step up... just do a native test per step... just because your phone can hit the frequency and survive doesnt mean that the CPU can have a load off with that step and then poof... . but yea... buy SetCPU, no more thread response.
Ok...?

really? you cant tell if your phone can run on a certain frequency by moving a slider while on performance governor? Good luck with finding any help.

I was hoping you would at least do what you said and not reply to this thread anymore since you offer nothing. But since you can't I will explain. If you still don't understand then please follow your own advice.
I am requesting an app. Whether I can or cannot do the same thing with SetCPU is irrelevant. Not just me but a bunch of people are using the flashable overclock daemon for whatever the reason may be. I know I can manually change the settings to find out. I do not want to and I expect it is the same for others. Just as I use Battery Calibrator to remove the batterystats.bin file because it is easier to push a button and have it do the work, I want a program that will do what I am asking by just pushing a button rather than having to go through the terminal or install SetCPU.

yea i know what you mean... sorry, i really was being a bit of an ass now that i reread it. what you want is something to go to next step, benchmark, go to next step benchmark, and continue to do so until the phone cant handle it.
the problem is, [now this im not 100% but its an assumption], that the daemon is specifying a max value. So I can come up with two scenarios.
1.Though it isn't INSMOD (like the LoadableKernelModule) , it is defaulted on boot through init.d script. The only way to reload those scripts, would be to reboot. Perhaps a hot boot may work. So you would need the app to rewrite wake_max_freq, then reboot... then somehow test it (just a cpu load test app). the script would then need to change the default value to a higher one from a list [the one it just stepped up to], and then tell it if AndroidBoot=Fail to revert to last step (which it probably wont be able to do since the phone would lock on boot since you can default a frequency that is too high). Seems like alot of time to me...
2.I took too long to type this and forgot #2
i know it will eventually be done through a real OC'ing script ... but seriously... whats so bad about testing your device?i can test every step (starting at 192) in less than two minutes. Idk i may just be being a hardass since I find that a user should always test his labors. a computer can only say or show so much, your eyes and intuition cannot be processed.
Ok. Didn't realize it requires a reboot. From what it looked like to me it just read the 6 text files and ran it in real time. If it does require a reboot then I can see the problem you are talking about with having it boot loop every time it starts up after the bad setting is ran. Going to have to look some more into how the init.d is set up. Looks like I may just need to learn some shell scripting.

Alright I tried this out already. You just have to follow the instructions, and also don't use other memory apps like auto killer memory optinizer, or task killers like advanced task killer. It really makes your phone run more smoothly.
Simple instructions are in post #18 by molohov.
molohov said:
I just ran the script with Aggressive 2 settings (6, 8, 25, 30, 35, 35)
Very easy to apply and run. It's a little difficult to weave through Zepp's writing, but essentially it boils down to this:
1. Download V6_Supercharger_for_Android-update8.sh.txt (at the bottom of the first post) to the sdcard
2. Download Script Manager Market Link
3. Open Script Manager and open the .txt file you just downloaded. Make sure Run as Root is selected.
4. Pick one of the many presets!
5. Reboot
Have yet to do some more testing with the current preset, but I'm sure it'll be good

You need busybox 1.18.2 or lower for this script to work properly. Below is the Market link to busy box installer. Thank LibertyMonger for suggesting to me to add this into the OP!
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.jrummy.busybox.installer
In the script manager, its a little like using terminal or command prompt. Just load up the txt and run as root. They will ask you to choose your scrolling speed (just type 0 so the text appears fastest inside the script manager) so you have to tap the screen for the keyboard to appear. You need the on screen keyboard to choose the presets too. Just choose one of them. I chose option 2 (aggressive setting 2) and currently my phone feels very fast.
ive found a video tutorial on how to install this script on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WADt5tK6Ths
Issues:
(PM me or leave a reply so I can put them here and warn the others not to use unsuitable presets)

it says
"What's it do?
It makes your phone FAST... super snappy with better multitasking!
It rearranges and fixes the OOM Groupings and Priorites and lowmemorykiller values.
So basically, it's a COMPLETE MEMORY MANAGEMENT FIX!
It's the ONLY one of it's kind "
heres the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991276
dont know whether it will work or whether it will give us much improvement to our phone. any one?

edit
wait i just saw that they talked only about gingerbread, and the linked tutorial said too that it was only for cm7 (he might have wanted everyone to play safe and not risk screwing up their phone)... anyone tried this yet?
It says for Milestone only, so does that mean what it says? For milestone only? We have the Xt720 (well I'm sure you know that lol)
Yeah and you're right eejin2 looks like it's for CM7. So maybe if we get CM7 then it won't be for milestone only
But while on the subject of speed, with the Special's governors fixed and overclocked at 1200, wow dude it's super fast! don't think this is even needed! lol
haha. yeah its fast of course.. but im currently on cm6.3 and im very satisfied. not a single hang since i flashed 6.1.2. only overclocked at 900, and underclocked at 500 sometimes. never had to do a battery pull at all. wont long term running overclocked at 1200mah damage your processer?

Long term heat will damage your processor. Obviously if OC'd at 1200 and running intensive apps, your temp will shoot up. SetCPU or any other profile mgr has profiles to ramp up or down you CPU speed accordingly. I have run 1100/74 sinceI first installed MSOC but I have SetCPU profiles to throttle it back when I don't need that much power and speed.

Yeah I use setcpu as well but only for temperature. I let it run natural otherwise. But like i said, I have been on so many ROM's and I like to put them to the test so I have been at 1200 since march for the most part and never have any overheat issues. No reboots. And if it does burn up I have a year and a half left on my warranty lol. CBW gives 2 year warranties. I don't need it clocked that high, it will run well at 800, I just like to put it to the test. And being at 1200 on the special now has made the biggest difference out of all that I have tried. But of course haven't tried it long enough to really compare with cm6.
Seems like 1200 since march is pretty much long term lol. My phone is still like new!
Anyone tried this yet? Any comments?

Backup and try. You can even undo its effects as it backs up the files it modifies. Ask Zepp about the best settings for your phone by giving your phone details.

[Q] Installing, using and uninstalling Android?

I know that there already exists a thread for stupid/noob questions, but I have lots of doubts and would like to get them clarified at one single place. I know I could have got the answers via browsing through the pinned thread but it's a long thread to go through, so I'm sorry if the questions are already answered.
Q1: Can someone link me to the latest and safest method of porting Android to Wave S8500?
Q2: After installing and trying Android, how do I COMPLETELY remove it?
Q3: Which bada firmware do I need to have before installing Android?
Q4: Is the Android market available via Wi-Fi?
Q5: Can I use apps like Skype or play games like Angry Birds?
Q6: I know that the method is on dual boot, but just wanted to get it confirmed. Android installation provides dual boot of Android and bada, doesn't it?
Q7: Will installing Android cause any hardware problems to my device or any software problems to the bada firmware I have installed?
Q8: If I have Android installed, then can I update/degrade my bada firmware OS or do I need to remove Android before updating/degrading bada firmware?
I would appreciate if someone answers these questions.
Thanks.
The only thing you must do is to download Google Chrome and translate the site
http://christec.blogspot.com/2011/07/android-auf-wave-anleitung.html
Well alot of questions like how do I uninstall, updating bada and possible issues are not answered there. Thanks for the reply though.
Anyone who can provide me with a detailed reply?

4. Yes but, on 1 of 4 my android installations it doesn't just try your luck, if it doesn't work reinstall android and it should help
5. Yes, most of all apps work correctly, but not all ;]
6. yes, power button for bada, call and power buttons for android.
7. if you will not try actions like dangerously high overclocking cpu, it shouldn't
8. you don't have to uninstall it but after flashing u will not have working android, u'll have to reinstall it.
good luck and sorry for my english ;]
cheers from Poland ;}
Thanks, but I can't find any method of uninstalling Android.
i just unistalled android and reinstalled the rooted version so i can overclock
first connect your wave trough mass storage
if you want to uninstall you have to download zImage & stuff: from the tutorial topic
in the galaxyboot map youll find mkext2images-remove.sh
then just put this one in your bada storage and remove the "-remove" part from the name
and then turn your phone off and boot in in recovery mode and wait till it reboots it self or boots to bada ( if it takes more than 10 minutes just press menu button to reboot it )
thats how i did it
i didnt understand it too i had to try it like 10 times before i finaly understood how to do it
Thanks for the help friends. Everything sounds little complicated for now, I'll install Android once I get a clear idea of the process.
if you want to overclock your phone to 1.3/1.4 STABLE (batery wont go empty faster ) id flash it with the rooter version
The process looks complicated at first, but it's surprisingly easy.
I don't know that using this process you can actually brick your phone. Brick the firmware, easily, but Download Mode always work and reflashing is easy as 1.. 2.. 3!

true, but if your overclocking hardware, you almost always have some small risk of damaging hardware in the long term, even when not raising the voltage.
i find my wave will get hot enough on a hot day without getting overclocked, temperatures DO rise also from frequency increase alone, continuous exposure to increased temperatures can shorten hardware life, people should really think carefully before overclocking.

I wasn't referring to overclocking
I should've been more specific.
I personally think it's pretty ridiculous overclocking a mobile device... There is next to no extra cooling and the components are packed into a tight case. Sure, as an experiment but it's stupid to have it permanent. Hell people don't overclock laptop CPU's and they have better cooling than phones.

Samsung galaxy player 5.0 (Few random questions)

Hi all,
I was looking into overclocking and underclocking the hummingbird processor withing my galaxy player 5.0
The overclocking is obviously for fun (I know the risks to the CPU and battery), the uderclocking is more so for power management.
I so far have not been able to go past the 1 GHz on the stock kernel.
Has anyone else tried this on stock/custom kernel and gotten any descent results?
I'm intrested in your expierences.
---------------------------------------------------------------
I'd upload the 5.0 compatible kernel and ROM into my device to use it and try it out; I found it on this sight, but I have been stuck on attempting to backup my current Kernel and ROM, as I do not want to loose it.
(I'm trying to do it "manually" with a program that was meant for something totally different, its interesting on the parts of data I could dump, but nothing is usable).
But aside from that, I have been trying different things with just the root on stock kernel and ROM, and I have found a few things that were fun to play with like the droid wall and an SD speed up...
-----------------------------------------------------------------
honestly I do not see anything else I need/can use the root for right now...
An I missing something? Is the android that open...?!
(This is coming from someone who worked and worked to unlock an iPod touch and turned it into an iPhone and partially into a pocket PC)
I remember the kernels name: Entrophies Kernel (idk how to spell it)
(Its on this forms sight in a different category somewhere)
-I'd use it, but first I'm putting back the stock charging and battery management, I personally do not like the settings he has, Li-Ion Polymer batteries like a complete charge, and a steady charge with a taper at the end...
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Any thoughts and experiences on anything I had not asked about is also welcome.
Everywhere I look for information about this device, I keep finding random one posts with questions and never any answers.
Also, people seem to not know about this device, and also not know how to modify and back its data up, including me with my failed atempts... o_o
Ultimately, if I can figure enough out about this device, because everything I have found so far is scattered about online, I'd like to make a post and dedicate it to the galaxy 5 player eventually, with up-to-date (or as close as possible) info on many things. Because thats the biggest problem I see, nothings ever centralized.
If you have root then This should work on your 5.0 player. I just installed it (stock) to try after seeing your post and i already have my 5.0 overclocked to 1.1ghz
Tegrak Overclock is a great utility to over and under clock your CPU.

Move the file to a linux machine and put it in a tar ball. (example command: tar -H ustar -c zImage > kernel.tar)
You now have a backup of your stock kernel which you can reflash using odin! (kernel.tar)
Update: I just noticed that you wanted the ROM too, it's mmcblk0p13. You can just dump that as well; rename it "factoryfs.rfs" and include it in the tar ball.
I plan on eventually adding support for clocking at 1.2 GHz and voltage control - I've just been busy with some issues with my I777 kernel (SoDs... ) and busy with real life in general.
I won't be just grabbing rumirand's patches as his use a slightly different approach than the netarchy-style code I prefer.
wow thanks everyone for the fast replies, I'm replying to each post in order, I added quotes to show which ones I am replying to.

Thanks for the link, I added the app to my device, and overjoyed, I clicked on the 1.3 GHz setting and applied it!
I do not see much of a difference as my device never lagged, if that, before.
I tried a few benchmark utilities, and it seems to surpass almost all the single core CPU phones I looked at...

I was playing with the underclocking features, and my already 2-2.5 day battery looks like it will last another day...lol

Download MDump Partition dumper v0.02: link in signature!
Open MDump on your device and select "mmcblk0p11"
Rename the file: mmcblk0p11.mdump -> zImage
Touch "Start Dump"

I was not expecting this... Thank you very much, you just saved me a lot of trouble!
I'm trying this in a few days, I've got a couple tests to study for this week...

I really like your kernel, you have done a nice job with it!
I was just wondering if you are keeping a single serries of the kernel or one with the modified power management, and one without?
Reason asking, is that I'm an EE, and I know a few people who work with battery management, and they all tell me the Li-Ion Polymer batteries like to be fully charged. I'm just curious as to your approach/reason behind stopping the charge just short of the top?
I like your selections for the custom charging with the kernel for quicker charge times... when I eventually get your kernel onto my device, I'm going to see if I can change settings while its installed, kinda like a power charge for when needed, and a regular charge for over night for less stress...
-------------------------------------------------------------
idk, I'm new to android, I've been stuck in i-Devices lingo for a long time and I'm slowly figuring this android stuff out...
So far, the only real thing I actually needed root for is overclocking and underclocking, droidwall, and tor... I like how open the system is (aside from the kernel/boxroom seeming to be locked when my friend tried a program called adb on it the other day).
Just curious, anything fun I can do with a custom kernel/rom? the only thing I see it can do so far from searching a few links is themes? idk, i need to look into it more...lol
I came across running ubuntu linux on the device through a vnc, even though its installed on the device... I was thinking of trying that if it looks like its ok...lol
I'm just a bit excited, I have this thing that can do so much, but idk what to do with it other than using it as a free wifi phone so far...lol

I'm an EE myself. That's odd - all information I've ever seen says that Li-Ion and Li-Po batteries do NOT like to be fully "topped off" or "trickle charged".
I'll try to dig up my sources later, but, from memory:
Overcharging them can result in metallic lithium plating out, which leads to permanent capacity loss. This is why all Li-Ion chargers stop charging once current drops below a certain rate in the constant-voltage phase. In the case of almost every Samsung I've ever used, CPU/power usage counts against the charge current limit - so I'm REALLY paranoid about the charger terminating properly, which is why I make it cut off earlier, as a way of offsetting some of the stress on the battery that the charging rate bump creates.
Also, Li-Ion batteries stored at maximum charge will lose capacity far faster than ones stored at around 50% charge. (This is why almost all new devices have batteries only 50% charged or so.)
I may eventually add a feature to disable the increased charging rate at runtime, however, in the case of the Galaxy Player:
It has a 2500 mAh battery, so 800 mA is actually still less than C/3 charge rate for the battery, whereas on most Galaxy S phones, they charge at 600 mA for an (approximately) 1650 mAh battery, making charge rate slightly more than C/3.
I also reduce charge rate below stock near the top - the technique is inspired by this: http://www.engadget.com/2011/02/20/apple-patent-application-points-to-denser-batteries-improved-ch/

Well, on many Android devices, root is needed to kill carrier bloatware. It happens that wifi-only non-carrier-branded devices tend to be less mangled and require less debloating. (Often none...) I've frequently run stock system firmware with custom kernels on wifi-only devices for long periods of time - but carrier-mangled devices almost always need an immediate debloat.

[MODULE] [magisk] [sysless] Disable thermal throttling on op2

I made a magisk module to permanently disable any and all thermal throttling on op2
All support related queries should go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/module-disable-thermal-throttling-t3517882
The repo link : https://github.com/anupritaisno1/DisableThermalThrottling-android_device_oneplus_oneplus2
Remember, I'm not responsible for ****
Why would somebody want to disable thermal throttling?
It's the devices's way to keep the device from damaging itself.
Why dont simply we just use 'thermal-engine.conf' in etc? There are different types of configs from stock to gaming profiles.

Let me tell you this, I was just like you in the past. I used to think that thermal throttling disablers would make my phone burn
However, I just happened to try it once and really, I haven't felt like going back ever since
And don't worry I've reached 100°c without issue
How do I install Magisk on my OP2? I'm on RR Android 6.
I was looking for something like this for a long time now.

Just search for it on XDA
Btw I'd suggest you to move to something more stable.
Maybe try cm or du

Doesn't damage below 100 °C. Dont know how far it can go above that but the CPU can reach 100 °C without damaging.
I would not recommend going over 105 °C though.

sure, if you wanna keep it for 10 years, mine is unthrottled and works like the first day, just better in many aspects and it's heading into it's third year and has already stopped being on of my 2 main drivers.
this thermal throttling has been implemented to serve all the fear shaken users that made a story for nothing just because it was a few degrees warmer than other phones. i own 6 phones including samsungs and nexus phones all top of the line and they all get hot.
storm in a waterglass it is and nothing else, i never ever got hurt through heat, neither did my wife complain.
thruth hurts yes and this is user self-inflicted, there has never been a reason for this throttling, it was self-protection by qualcomm and some OEMS
after the pre-release uproar.
Finally i got to active A57 core all the time tq dev but one question does this work for lineage 15.1 ?
