AT&T - Le Max 2 X829 - Volte & WiFi Calling - LeEco Le Max 2 Questions & Answers

Hi All,
Just wondering if there are any AT&T users out there that have the Le Max 2 X829, and have volte and wifi calling working? Currently, I am running [7.1.2][OFFICIAL][VoLTE][ Resurrection Remix. Everything works, only I am not sure how to get WiFi and Volte working over AT&T. Any input would be appreciated.

I believe the problem might be your apns. Im on metro wasn't getting volte. Back a backup of your rom. Edit your apns, just change something in them and save. They should dissapear. Do that to all your saved apns. Than you should have a different set of USA apns pop up.

Waste of time. AT&T won't (can't?) activate those features on LeEco phones. I had to move to T-Mobile because I needed the WiFi calling.

Yeah t mobile not that bad and cheaper and the wifi calling is a must for me as well.

T-Mobile here as well, well the Walmart Family plan, but the same. WiFI calling is working with no problem.

Trentbg - Do you also have the Le Max 2 working on T-mobile network w/ WiFi calling, or is it a different phone?

Yes, thats what I am saying x829/820, T-mobile, wifi calling is working.

T-Mobile WiFi calling
Hi all. I have a quick question... I flashed my LeMax 2 (X820) with Lineage 14 version. So far so good but there are two questions that I have... In LOS 13 there was a theming built in. Was it removed from LOS 14? And the second more important question...I see posts about WiFi calling working on Tmobile...is it based on the stock firmware of LOS and if it is LOS, is there any specific way that I need to enable it? I don't see it in the menus

Which ROMs have both Wifi calling and volte settings both integrated? I see a lot of [VOLTE] in the titles for these ROMs, but not much mention of Wifi calling. I'm far more interested in integrated wifi calling first.

I switched from AT&T to T-Mobile last week. So far I love the coverage! I've only been able to get WiFi calling to work with EUI. And even then, its sketchy. Has anyone successfully gotten WiFi calling to work on other ROMs besides EUI? I personally cannot stand EUI, and would rather use LineageOS, RR, or something similar.

Verizon I-545 with T-mobile sim Q&A

I know this has been addressed a few times, but with the new radio's and T-mobile running on LTE bands I feel it can be addressed again.
I have been running a T-Mobile sim in my Verizon S4 for about 9 months now having 90% functionality of T-Mobile apps and after 4.3 using LTE with a few MMS hiccups that seem to have been ironed out.I have ran just about every ROM available here on XDA, and even attempted to write my own Rom a couple times with limited success. And every ROM I have ran was written for Verizon, I just changed the APN settings, and sometimes had to flash some other items to get them working 100%.
I have a few things I am working on trying to "fix" such as Hotspot and a few T-Mobile only apps. I have convinced my phone it is a SGH-M919 changing a lot of info in the build prop, which allows me to use the T-Mobile TV app. But being a trial and error kinda guy I don't know how much of my editing was necessary, or if I actually needed to change more to allow me to use the hot-spot app. I have bricked my phone to many times to count trying out Radio's and changing setting in the ROMs trying to make my I545 more a T-Mobile phone than a Verizon phone.
I have seen alot of "ports" such as the 4.4.2 GE that I am currently running ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2643031 ). The first release I had amazing signal and no connection issues. But after the DEV (Danvdh) plucked away at it making it work better for Verizon and fixing a lot of Verizon data issues has started to have a couple signal issues here and there. Nothing that I would say broke the connection but definitely slowed a few things for me down.
Same for the INT build ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2552605 ) from jrkruze it works amazing then started to slowly after updates not work as well as it did from his first release. The ROM got better but my "connection" got worse.
So on to my question:
What is being changed in the ROMs that make them better for Verizon? I know that I am part of a small majority of people here running a SIM and a network that it was never supposed to run on, but it does work and I would like to make it work as best as it can. I know I can go back and use the older versions of the ROMs but I like the other changes and I like being able to update.

How do you have LTE working? Correct me if I'm Wrong but TMO has LTE on 700/1700, the i545 doesn't support either of those bands. HSPA+ with a 4gLTE logo maybe?

The AWS spectrum was unlocked for the i545 a few updates ago. Since TMobile LTE runs on the AWS band, a Verizon S4/i545 is capable of running TMobile LTE
AWS was unlocked with the MJ7 modem.
I get 29Mbps down 6.5 up defenitly not H+ the whole Seattle area is AWS so I am loving it. That combined with T-mobiles truly unlimited data I torrent on the go!
Do you receive SMS? I just switched about an hour ago to T-Mobile and everything works except for receiving SMS messages. Not sure how to get it working.

you have to change your APN settings.
If you are interested I am working on something else, that would give us T-Mobile guys a working 4.4.2 TW ROM...

[Q] Note 3 on Credo? Root? Custom ROM?

Verizon continues to give me headaches (like that's a surprise).
I'd like to move to a Note 3 on Credo. I know they use the Sprint network but that doesn't necessarily mean all the Sprint hacks will work on their phones.
Anyone worked with a Note 3 (or S4) on Credo? Possible to root? Possible to run a custom ROM? Able to do anything without tripping Knox?
I have been using Credo for several years and have rooted several phones and installed custom ROMs on them. It always works fine. The only thing that sometimes doesn't work is MMS, because the APN for Credo is different than Sprint I guess. Everything else has worked flawlessly. I am running MiniN3 Maximus on my Note and the MMS works fine. I'm upgrading to KitKat now so we'll see if it still works, but I would bet it will.
In short, everything works fine using Sprint ROMs on Credo. Having unlimited data and a hacked Wifi hotspot is awesome.

I mostly concur with these positive experiences with Credo and CM, except that without setting the proper Credo APN on CM10(+?), you also won't be able to get 4G/LTE service.
There's a useful thread about setting the Credo APN on the S4 at http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/84151-credo-mobile-4g/

Good to know. I've only ever used touchwiz ROMs or sense (when I had HTC) ROMs, never AOSP or CM, and didn't come across that problem. The only APN issue I've had was that mms wouldn't function until changing APN, but on the Note 3 I haven't even had that problem.

Does X829 have T-Mobile VoLTE and wifi-calling?

I am about to buy LeMax 2 X829 cuz it supports full 3G (1700/2100) and LTE (2,4,12) on T-Mobile (US).
But I must have native wifi calling feature.
Does it come with VoLTE and wifi-calling?
If it doesn't, what kind of ROM do I need to install?
Thanks in advance.

VoLTE available stock rom, and wifi-calling, I don't known!
thank you for your comment.
is there any stock rom that I can flash to have that feature on?
What bands are supported on x829? I think they are different compared to x820..?
829 supports most of US bands. 820 does not support tmo 3g bands (1700/2100 B4) but supports all LTE bands (2,4,12).

Hi,
I have the X829 6gb/128 version, and i can confirm that wifi and VoLTE work on T-Mobile.
Phone was purchased from eFox, and it was shipped with the notorious
leaked American Rom (5.8.16s). Hope this helps.
Yes definitely has wifi calling n volte on tmo, you wont see any option for it till you put in a tmo sim, but after you do and boot up it's there. I have a silver and a gold x829 both 4/64, both bought at tinydeal with coupon "199LX829" silver is $192 the gold is $194. I paid extra $7 each for DHL express And the one I ordered Friday night came Tuesday at noon, the Next ordered Tuesday got it Friday. Couldn't have been happier. If your american theres no customs but Visa and Mastercard will charge an extra 3-3.5% to convert currency so calculate an extra $6-$7, paypal is 2.5% if you pay with them. Had 1 phone a week other for 4 days and 0 issues yet. Both benchmark around 130k in antutu and turn in 4k/1750 in Geek.
hi JohnnySJ, you mean T-Mobile in USA or Germany

VoLTE should work on O2/Vodafone/Telekom but they have very restricted compatibility lists... don't know if those lists actually mean anything
even subsidiaries (i.e. otelo) of those 3 don't work - let's not talk about small independend providers

Stock rom that it came with.
Just a suggestion since I believe someone was asking where to get it. I bought two fro gearbest it only to about a week for each to get to my house. I live in Oklahoma.
I wish Leeco would release source. I have WiFi calling working in rooted EUI (via T-mobile), but no custom ROM that I tried that has WiFi calling built into the ROM has yet worked. Kind of a bummer, because I cannot stand EUI. RR & LineageOS has been my favorite custom ROM thus far. Unless there is a trick I am not aware of to get it functioning in other ROMs.

I installed Dirty Unicorns
https://forum.xda-developers.com/le-max-2/development/x82x-dirty-unicorns-7-1-2-t3593864
Enabled WiFi calling, and it has been working. I was able to see the WIFi calling traffic via tcpdump from my router, so I am fairly sure it is working in that ROM.
**Edit**
My mistake. Using Dirty Unicorn AOKP ROM. What I thought was WiFi calling traffic in tcpdump (from my router) was actually traffic being generated from the T-mobile app. The only ROM that I've had both WiFi calling and Volte working flawlessly is stock EUI, unfortunately.

SM-G965F/DS on MetroPCS

What is the best way to try to get working Wi-Fi Calling and VoLte on this model phone? Just ordered it yesterday so I don't have it yet
Thanks
I am not a developer but experienced user.
There is MUCH confusion about VOLTE .
To get VOLTE in the past on 99% of phones you needed 2 Things .
1] A VOLTE capable phone .
2] Network SOFTWARE on that phone to enable VOLTE ( and often WIFI calling ). This means you only get VOLTE on Tmobile , for example with a Tmobile BRANDED [ or Metro OCS phone ] with the preinstalled software from the Manufacturer for that specific NETWORK.
Android was supposedly going to ADD this into their system but I don't think it's possible technically or legally.
A friend as recently as a week ago on SPRINT had an S9 with a VOLTE On/OFF setting and when he engaged VOLTE is affected call quality negatively - I heard it.
This is one of the reasons Sprint is merging with TMO , IMO.
I have heard rumors of 'generic ' or AT&T Iphones having VOLTE on Metro PCS/Tmobile for example but real VOLTE stays on LTE always and you never lose Internet due to a call - simultaneous STABLE voice and data is the benefit - not some little trick on /off thing.
If the F/DS is an Exynos you may have issues however someone pointed out in another thread that the Exynos should work with T-Mo WiFi calling.
I am using the firmware for the 965U1, it is generic software for US Based Snapdragon phones. When I flashed and put my SIM in, it detected T-Mobile and set up WiFi calling automagically. The VoLTE also works with no adjustments or settings.
So I am thinking at a minimum you should be able to get WiFi calling. Hopefully.

Yes, and Secure Wi-Fi has now been added. I think it previously existed only on the European firmwares. Now we get it, too.
Any way to see if AT&T Wifi Calling will work as I do not see the option in Settings? I have US Unlocked GS9 on AT&T
If I flash this U1 for my ATT phone (running full Tmobile firmware now),
will I have Wifi calling with Tmobile? Or Wifi calling only works with Verizon with U1

Despite what the websites like to post, there really isn't a VZW U1 and an ATT U1. There's just XAA U1. You'll get Wi-Fi Calling on every carrier with it now, except for ATT.

Reading up on it (short summary) this is because AT&T uses a database of IMEI numbers to provision WiFi calling and VoLTE. Since our IMEI numbers from our phones are not in that database we won't be able to use WiFi calling or VoLTE.
Makes sense but is ridiculous for AT&T to restrict it. Has anyone ever called to ask to have thier Unlocked IMEI added to this "list" so that these features will work? Seems like it is a disadvantage for AT&T if it works for TMo and now Verizon but not AT&T...?
Just curious...

It's odd for sure. Verizon has always had VoLTE on unlocked too. At least since the S7. Probably before that. ATT has never felt the need to change the policy.

Who can say if it's disadvantageous or not, for all we know it might be the technology differences between the networks. Also it does make sense... having specific IMEI numbers known to connect to carrier specific services like wifi calling and VoLTE ensures that everything works. It doesn't make it convenient for us and I will admit it would be nice to have the features.. but for calling via wifi there are options.
Personally I use pbx in a flash and bria softphone. With the right VoIP provider it's a good setup and doesn't break the bank at all. I haven't even spent more then 5 bucks maybe in a month. For me this is better then wifi calling and I don't have any problems.
As for adding our IMEI to that database I tried inquiring about it, but I do recall reading where some people may have had luck in doing this. I suspect it may require a bit of luck and/or perserveriance after my last discussion with AT&T customer service.
I explained the situation and what needed to be done while being placed on hold a few times. As the call continued I tried to be patient with the person I spoke too, but I admit it is not easy when he is saying that just because I see H data speed that it's actually VoLTE. When I mentioned the speed test and how it was H data speed (and that H data speeds are not VoLTE) he was saying that H data speeds were like blazing fast compared to LTE..
I had to politely finish the call before I either started to laugh or feel sorry for that rep.

In my case I tried to be patient with the person I spoke too. After waiting on hold a few times the representative tried to say everything was normal.. and then proceeded but to say that just because I see H+ speed that it's actually VoLTE. The only thing I've seen some people do successfully to get VoLTE working on an unbranded unlocked device is to have AT&T provision a SIM card to an IMEI of a phone that is AT&T branded and capable of VoLTE. Then use that SIM card on the unbranded unlocked device.

No problem. You're not the first person to look for it in the wrong place. U1 builds always place the setting there. So they stayed consistent doing it this way.
