List of available third party ROMs for the ZTE Axon 7 - ZTE Axon 7 Guides, News, & Discussion

Hola
Below is a list of third party ROMs that I have found both on XDA and elsewhere. I am in no way associated to any ROM development or developer suffice to say I do have my own preferences.
I have tried to list either the XDA page, or external sites from which the ROM is associated with. If I can't find an official XDA link or external site, I may just list the download link.
Hopefully the ROMs that are only available via a download page will not give rise to any issues from the developer.
All ROMs are based Android v7.x Nougat.
And of course - our greatest thanks to all associated developers, maintainers, cooks, and other folks who assisted us regular users - we're looking at you DrakenFX, musicman5844, among others!

IMPORTANT NOTE:
1. Please let me know if I missed any ROMs that I can add.
2. Let me know if I messed up with any info I have provided.
3. Again and again, we must all thank the developers and other folks who have helped us along the way. Thanks to all!

I flashed DARK ROM not knowing one single thing about it. We don't have a thread and I didn't see a Google+ footprint (yet).
ROM is totally bare as far as apps go. Nothing there but AudioFX, files, and Settings. Not even a launcher.
At first I thought it was broken but then realized it was probably by design. Leaving it up to the user to provide their own apps. Nothing needs to be uninstalled, disabled, or frozen (as some folks like to do).
Currently I have a mostly transparent setup (themes, TBO Clear apps, etc.).
Searching some more I found the Nexus5 thread for this ROM that details its features. It apparently has signature spoofing support making it ideal for microG / NanoMod.
The dev does provide his own gapps and extras in the OP. Full support for Viper even with Enforcing.
Found the the following thread after already being setup with it.

Been using dark rom all day in the thread he meant for this room to pretty much be as close to pixel as possible and I can say it's super close it's like pure Nexus workout the bugs

Hi. I builded LineageOMS ROM. This is my original thread. You can add first message if you want.

Oops. Deleted.
Premature ROM info. ?

Hi, I'd like to ask which ROM would you recommend
I used to have nexus phone and I loved it. What I'd like the most is stable experience with solid set of features. I don't need root. I don't need the high customisation but just stability and solidness. I want all the features to be working straight after flashing the ROM. I would like to have audio on quality like in the stock ROM. What would you recommend? I don't want to test all the ROMs.
Good support with ota updates is important too.

Has anyone found a MIUI rom for this great phone ?

[Q] difference between cyanogen and kang

So I'm seeing two different release types here, one from the cyanogenmod branches here:
http://review.cyanogenmod.com/#q,status:merged,n,z
(and built roms here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1425631),
and then the Kang project here:
https://github.com/AOKP
(and forum post her: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459287)
Are these the same thing? The commit logs for each branch sort of line up but not really. What's the difference?
Kangs are unofficial Cyanogen builds created by members of the community. They're not supported by the Cyanogenmod team. Sometimes you'll find that they aren't supported by the person who cooked it. Sometimes the "chef" of the Kang will throw in extra mods or config options, sometimes they'll just compile from Cyanogen source.
In this case, the Kang rom you are referring to is built and supported by Romanbb who is building off of the experimental (read: non-final) builds of Cyanogenmod. He cooks certain tweaks into the rom as he builds it. In this case, it's just a matter of development and support.
Basically:
AOKP = Roman's tweaks on Cyanogen (Unofficial, no CM support)
Cyanogenmod = The combined work of the entire Cyanogenmod team. (Official, full CM support)
Hopefully this information was helpful.
awesome, thanks for the info
No problem. Happy flashing!
While the above is sorta correct... I would point out AOKP is not your traditional kang. Roman has tweaks built into the settings menu that make it a top ROM and they support multiple devices.
Any ics ROM is going to be limited by the closed source of Samsung currently, hence the no camera.

Awesome love it
this project looks interesting. btw, is that "Ultra Slim Gapps" package meant only for this rom or can it be used on other stock/aosp roms? to be frank, the "slim gapps" term is very appealing.
You can use slim gapps on any ROM but android version should be same.

[ROM][GOOGLE NEXUS 5] Custom ROM’s – Nexus 5, Best, Quick Links [20-Feb-2015]

Here is a small list of Android Custom ROM’s for the Google Nexus 5[Hammerhead] that I find most suitable to be used as a daily driver[Performance, Stability, Battery, User-Friendly, Customizations] for LOLLIPOP. No doubt, there are a plenty of official/unofficial builds that do the trick, but these are the ones I most frequently jump on/off.
Apart from your usual Cyanogenmod, Paranoid Android, Slim, Omni, etc, I have made a short list of the top 5 Custom ROM’s that I use while this post is made, but do keep in mind this is only for the Google Nexus 5, and a basic idea of rooting/recoveries/flashing along with knowledge of Custom ROM’s in general is needed in prior.
Yes, there maybe other posts and threads spreading the word of Custom OEM’s and this is just another. Please feel free to PM anytime for any help. Even though I might not give you the right answer ill point you to the right direction.
The Nexus 5 is still alive

The only very minor issue I've had is that in the "About phone" part, if i touch "System updates" then the settings app closes. There aren't any updates, so no real reason to touch that, but it's something I've noticed.

Official OTA builds have begun as of this week. The first can be downloaded HERE.
I've updated the OP with new links to the Invictrix OTA page and recommended GApps packages from GZR (pico gapps) and Beans (nano gapps), as well as a link to NanoDroid's microG implementation by @Setialpha if you prefer to go without Google.

Check the kernel source link in the OP. Wireguard-related commits are in there. iirc, it pulls the latest version via http when the build is started, so it should always be up to date.
Has anyone tried dirty flashing this over Omni?

New Update, Gapps build: 24/11/2020
This build is pretty different from the previous build
I will try to issue a MicroG-exclusive variant in the next few days.
Notes/Changelogs:
- Built some QS Tile Icon Overlays
- Gapps prebuilt
- Switched to CarrierSettings, Google's alternative to CarrierConfig.
- Removed most of LineageOS Prebuilt apps, replacing them with Google alternatives
- Switched default font to Inter
- Also Ubuntu Font is available under styles
- Added Smartspace (aka Lockscreen weather by google)
- Added FOSSConfig, reduces weird behavior on automatic brightness.
- Tweaked some SF Props (lemme know if you do face some issues on this)
- Flipendo (Google's Extreme Battery Saver) is added, it will give you a notification when you turn on the battery saver
- Switched kernel to LOS, considering stability
- Sig spoofing is still supported, but this build highly advises you to stay with gapps.
- CarrierSettings might depend on GMS for working.
- Build was tested over 3hrs before publishing.
As earlier, my builds are signed with my own private key, so to flash them, use the recovery provided!

New Update, Gapps build: 26/11/2020
Notes/Changelogs:
- Selinux Enforced and User Build!
- If you face an issue where camera is not working, head to a root terminal and type
Code:
chcon -R u:object_r:persist_camera_file:s0 /mnt/vendor/persist/dual_camera_calibration/
- Everything was tested to be working normally
- If you do face issues, please log them properly and also provide me a way to replicate it.
- The recovery of user build apparently doesnt allow flashing anything thats mismatching signature. Hence Magisk/other mods might fail to install
- On such an eventful case,
Code:
fastboot boot twrp.img
and need not decrypt, just head to advanced, enable adb sideload, and sideload Magisk from your PC.
- I have tested Magisk 21.1 to boot pretty fine on this rom, but should you face any issues, I would recommend trying Magisk 21.0
