It's OEM unlock under developer options. Make sure the toggle is on (lit up blue, toggle is on the right), if it isn't you'll bootloop.

yes i know, but how i can unlock the bootloader also with odin?

adiJ5FN THANKS!!!
Works fine. If someone get bootloop due later locked OEM, you can repair it by install full original rom in download mode (Power+Home Vol down) via ODIN.
Some original firmwares are there: https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-j3/SM-J320FN/

Which TWRP is this one?
Oh, 3.0.2-1.

OEM mode enabled
Odin recognize device and put attached TWRP as a recorevery (TAR file given in AP section)
But, when i want to launch TWRP, i see stock recovery...
I root many galaxy devices in past, first time with this problem
Somebody can help?

Did ODIN tells "PASS" in green after the twrp flash?
" Once the setting up of Odin is done as per your requirements, click Start and the flashing process will be started. Your device will start automatically after the process is finished, and a “Pass” notification on green background will be shown on the top left corner."
Perhaps not real flashed because some errors (check the text log for succeed 1 / failed 0 - means OK )?

Hi
i'm also getting the stock recovery screen. If you select "load from external storage" then at least i can see the SuperSU zip file to install. But installing that did not root the phone when i do a "root checker" test

I had the same problem with a J320FN. Solved by means of a factory reset before installing TWRP (EDIT: maybe factory reset wasn't the key for a successful flash of TWRP, but unflagging the "Auto reboot" option in Odin should be):
- enabled debug mode and oem unlock from developer settings
- (probably unnecessary) reboot in recovery mode (standard recovery), factory reset + cache clear
- switched off, then booted in download mode (VolDown + Home + Power)
- started ODIN on PC, loaded TWRP with "AP" button, unflagged "Auto reboot" option in Odin
- flashed TWRP
- switched off the device by pressing VolDown + Power for few seconds
- rebooted in recovery mode (VolUp + Home + Power), TWRP started
- flashed SuperSU
Hope this helps

Once you have done the installation of twrp, you can try using POWER,HOME and VOLUP (Instead of VOLDOWN). This could be the problem if you are pressing volume down it still brings you to the stock recovery.

worked for me, i mean i had same issues like some of the posters but removing the auto reboot worked, vol+/home/power brings twrp ok.

I have this problem: link2sd does not work, the system does not allow link2sd to recognize the ext4 partition on start-up, I have to restart a second time.
I execute the guide for the root and the phone is ok.
Where is the problem?

Can't install recovery after Stagefright update

My Rogers S6 edge W8 got an OTA OG2 yesturday so I went back to stock to get the new update. Now I want to root back but somehow the previous method of installing TWRP in odin, then flash SU and nosleep fix just doesnt work...actually only the recovery doesnt want to install. Odin tells me everything was a success, the phone seems to have installed TWRP but when I boot into recovery, it goes back to stock again.
Any ideas what could have gone wrong?
Also please dont suggest usuing CF-Auto root because it brick my phone every single time.
Here are the instructions I followed, the first time the process went without a hitch.
1. Download ODIN v 3.10.6 from http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2711451 and extract it to a folder.
2. Download TWRP v2 by eousphoros (Odin Flashable Version) from https://mega.co.nz/#!aQhTnQRR!k-M-j9...swZO3CWYi0mMtI
3. Download the latest SuperSu Beta from http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps...v2-05-t2868133 and transfer it to your internal storage on the phone.
4. Download Deep-Sleep flashable fix from http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...7&postcount=56 and transfer it ot your internal storage on the phone.
5. Put your phone into Download Mode. Power Off, then hold Power+Home+VolDown. At the warning press VolUp to continue.
6. Connect your phone to your computer via the USB cable.
7. Launch ODIN.
8. You will see the text Added! in the status panel (left side).
9. Checkmark the box beside AP and then click on AP.
10. Browse to the TWRP tar.md5 file you downloaded earlier and select it.
11. Wait a few seconds for MD5 check to finish successfully.
12. Press Start. You will see the progress bar at the top and when it's complete status window will have message "All Threads Complete (Succeed 1, Failed 0)".
13. Boot into TWRP (Button combination Power+Home+VolUp) and then flash/sideload SuperSu beta zip and then the deep sleep fix zip that you have on internal storage.
14. Reboot to system. Congratulations, your phone is now rooted.

Did you uncheck Auto Reboot when you flash the recovery in Odin?
There is no such option with the newer odin
Sent from my SM-G925W8 using Tapatalk
I have heard that this update also breaks ping-pong root. We'll have to wait and see if those are updated
Ok, i found a fix. The problem was when i flashed recovery with odin, the custom recovery was overwritten as soon as the phone would boot back to system. I was able to keep TWRP installed by pressing Volume Up + Power + Home the second the recovery installation was finished and kept holding until Samsung Galaxy S6 edge logo appeared, then it booted me right in TWRP where I was able to flash SU and Sleep Fix.
I am using 3.10.6 and it has the option on one of the tabs on the left side. Yea, that's what I meant not to let it auto reboot. Reboot by holding Volume Down + Power + Home. When the screen goes back, hold Volume Up + Power + Home to boot into Recovery.

a) DO NOT HAVE ODIN OPEN YET
b) Stop KIES on your PC if it is on.
c) Put your phone into Download mode, BUT NOT PRESS CONTINUE (Home, Vol Down, Power at same time).
d) Connect your USB to PC/Laptop and phone.
e) NOW Press Vol Up on your phone

a) untick Auto Reboot
b) add the recovery.tar.md5 on PDA

d) When finished to turn off device, keep Home, Vol Down, Power for 3 sec
4. Boot Phone normally and put into:
a) root file of your device extracted as: boot.img
b) supersu zip file
[Extra] i flashed from adb sideload, more fast
5. Turn off and boot in Recovery (Home, Vol Up, Power)
a) Install boot.img
b) install supersu zip file
6. Reboot (i swiped cache and dalvik to be sure )
MAGIC!
Finally that forgotten phone is rooted
Now you can procede to install Titanium, AdAway and so on
---TO TRY------
[XPOSED]
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/unofficial-xposed-samsung-lollipop-t3180960
----COMMON ISSUES SOLUTIONS----
[IMEI]
If someone have lost IMEI this is a tutorial to recover it.
1. From the store download: BusyBox and GSII_Repair
2. Open BusyBox and install
3. Open GSII_Repair and press on the menu Repair GSII
a) step 1, backup
b) step 2, forces mounting, reboot
c) step 3, delete and repair, reboot
Now you have easily restored IMEI
[DATA]
For the ones that have lost data signal you have to flash the right baseband with your recovery.
Or a quick fix you can try if you have the signal bar full but no data, is to go on: Settings->info->status or in Settings->info->updates and magically data will work. It is a common samusung bug.
[SEANDROID]
If the message at the start is: NOT SEANDROID ENFORCING BLA BLAH, is because who made the root kernel did some mistakes, but for now it is the only one working and the error have no effects.

doesn't work for me: When i try to install TWRP and boot into it, just the normal recovery starts. :/
I also had the normal recovery when i used Odin 3.07. But Odin 3.09 did the job.
Hmm i tried with 3.09 and still doesnt work. How much Power Do I need for flashing? Is 30% too less?
EDIT: The answer is: Yes, 30% is too less. Now everything works fine and i got root.

Sorry, my fault. I have edit it to download mode. Thx for correcting.
I don't find any boot loop. And if you do, then you can try reflashing the phone back to stock.
the original recovery is still there.
you can as well install TWRP but you will find that red kernel error on boot (enforcing).
and you can only boot to TWRP by using NDR utils -- not with buttons.

Rooting Samsung Tab E (SM-T377W) on 7.1.1

Hi all,
First time poster and honestly, a complete noob re: rooting. I tried once before with a BLU device I had, but had driver issues and just gave up.
Anyway, looking to remove a bunch of bloat from my Tab E that I barely use....... just fired it up today for the first time in months and saw an update to 7.1.1
All of my Google searching links me to this:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/recovery-official-twrp-gteslte-galaxy-t3419219
My concerns/problems are ....
1. Do I just pick the latest '.tar' file?
2. At no point does the guide actually say when to connect the device to the computer
3. I should be able to maintain my LTE connection after rooting, I assume?
4. I can't seem to get into "download mode", I got into "safe mode" somehow by mistake, but when following the suggestions here:
http://techbeasts.com/how-to-boot-samsung-galaxy-devices-in-download-recovery-mode/
To access "download mode", I get some life.... followed by an increasingly green circle. Get's to 66% with a flashing white circle, and then nothing happens.
5. Even if I could get into "download mode", it says to Hold [Volume Up] + [Home] buttons near the end of the flash, and keep holding them until you are in recovery. but Odin doesn't appear to be overly user-friendly as far as knowing when the end of the flash would be? Haven't got that far though, so mere speculation on my part.
I'm really lost at this point.... can anybody give me any pointers?
****EDIT*** So, I went ahead and tried again - turns out I was able to get it all done...... problem was the instructions didn't quite relate the my Tab E? Power+Vol Down+Home was needed to get into download mode, and Power+VolUp+Home was needed for Recovery.
Funny though, after confirming TWRP and following the reboot promps, device still didn't appear to be rooted. Tried again and "Root Checker" says it's not..... but NOBloat is not prompting me I'm not rooted, when previously it stated the device wasn't rooted? AND, I have SuperSU installed?
Easily done if you follow the rooting guide for the 6.0.1 ... anyway, here's how.
Download Odin (version 10.12.x) and then download TWRP into the same folder:
https://dl.twrp.me/gteslte/twrp-3.2.0-0-gteslte.img.tar.html
Now donwload Super User: https://download.chainfire.eu/1220/SuperSU/SR5-SuperSU-v2.82-SR5-20171001224502.zip?retrieve_file=1
Run Odin (preferred in Admin mode) and load : twrp-3.2.0-0-gteslte.img.tar into the AP.
Put your Tablet into Download mode (Vol Down + Home + Power and then Vol Up), connect to your PC and Hit Start on Odin.
Wait for it to fully reboot and Power it Off, now reboot into Recovery mode (Vol Up + Home + Power), once in TWRP, copy Super User file into the Download folder of your Tablet, select Install from TWRP and install Super User. Reboot and enjoy Root
Using updated Odin (3.13.1) to root Tab E SM-T377W
As this post is somewhat dated, would the most recent Odin version (3.13.1) be appropriate?
I have the same Tab E (SM-T377W) running 7.1.1.
Thank you in advance for your help.
Reid.

Root is possible. On firmware version: T377WVLU2BQI6, I just flashed this
TWRP-3.2.3-0-gteslte.img.tar (PM if you need a link. I uploaded it on my drive)
Then flashed magisk through TWRP yesterday.
Couple of notes though. Once you fllash TWRP with Odin, even with auto reboot ticked off, the device WILL STILL reboot. Once this happens, if you're not holding pwr, vol+, & home buttons, the custom recovery will be replaced back to stock. And as always, ensure drivers installed and debugging and OEM unlock is on.

Usually when I flash, I found it's best to use which version of Odin was released at the time the device was. For instance, if I wanted to flash an S7, I'd probably use Odin 3.10. This is only AFTER I've tried my go to Odin version - Prince Comsey. I find it works 90% of the time though. This of course excludes any devices running stock Oreo or Pie. Where it's mandatory to have the latest version of Odin.

Which firmware version do you have on the tablet?? Like, is there a 3 or 2 prior to the B?? I think it's the forth from the end
For example: T377WVLU '2' BQI6 or do you have the 3rd Bootloader?

Firmware SM-T377W T377WVLU3BRG4 [7.1.1]
halp
I've been trying to use this thread and several others as a guide to root my galaxy tab E version sm-t377wVLU3BRG4 running android 7.1.1. I've been trying to root the tablet for 3 days including one click rooting applications both on and off pc.
I can't even get TWRP installed, I've tried using odin to flash it but when it reboots and I'm supposed hold volume up and home to boot into recovery mode it just keeps booting. I don't understand if I'm doing something wrong. Also half the guides I've read have had most of the files removed so I've just googled another guide
@Helium Iz Ninja
Probably your attempt flashing TWRP miserably failed for whatever reason.
BTW: How to install TWRP using ODIN is explained here.
If you have phone's Stock ROM at your fingertips, then re-flash this to bring back phone to its original state.

How I root the Samsung Galaxy J5 (2017) (SM-J530F/DS).

Hello, I have this phone for 2 years. I tried to root in the past 5 months but no success because I flashed the TWRP recovery that i found in here but is for J5 2017 with Android 7, and mine have latest Android 9.
How I can find a recovery compatible with latest android 9? Thanks!
Sorry for bad grammar. I don't speak English mainly.
Edit: Edit: My phone still works now with latest stock android 9. But aparently the bootloader is so locked down even if I try to revert to android oreo it doesn't flash, only if i leave the phone full 7 days without disconnecting from sim network. Unfortunately i cannot maintain connected to celular sim( or whatever is called) because i live in vilage that i cannot catch good celular signal.
So for me, this phone is unrootable to me.
So. I'm done rooting!

When i did last time, it does boot in to recovery, when i wipe the data, cache, dalvik cache it doesn't want to wipe cuz is in read only , and when i boot normaly its doing boot loop and eventualy i kinda give up and flash the stock rom back.
As i can see your device has twrp, and many users faced same issue, what i'll suggest you now is flash this twrp from below guide, after that format data, wipe your system and flash any other pie rom which exist for your device with latest magisk... if the issue still exist you can pm me with the same

you need to format data instead of wiping data

Well here i have solution:
NEW TWRP: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...twrp-samsung-j5-pro-twrp-3-1-10-v2-0-t3728233
STEPS:
Download Odin v3.13.1
Download and install Samsung Drivers (if you have them installed you can skip this step)
Go to settings/Developer options and enable OEM unlock (If you don't see developer settings, go into Settings/About phone/Software info and tap "Build number" 10 times to show Developer options menu)
Download TWRP_*.tar
Switch off the phone
Use Home+Volume Down+Power to enter Download Mode and connect the device to usb
Open Odin and untick autoreboot in "options" tab. Also make sure that your device is detected
Put TWRP_*.tar.md5 file into AP tab
Click Start
When Odin shows "PASS", take your device in hands, disconnect the usb cable and press simultaneously the "Home" + "Vol. Down" + "Power" buttons until the downoad mode disappears
At the precise moment the screen becomes black, immediately release the "Vol.Down" button and press the "Home" + "Vol. UP" + "Power" buttons during 10 to 15sec to forcefully enter TWRP
If it didn`t worked, redo the steps from #1 more careful this time.
