A custom recovery is used for installing custom software on your device. This custom software can include smaller modifications like rooting your device or even replacing the firmware of the device with a completely custom “ROM”
Some features:
Built with the AOSP 3.10 kernel
The latest twrp version
fiops i/o scheduler: don't know if this makes an actual improvement, but I just wanted to add it
Fixed the clock
Really fast and cooler
Notes, current issues:
When entering the recovery, the screen will be black, then flicker but after that it will work flawlessly. This is a mdss bug, but I don't know how to fix this
There is no support for encryption, as I don't use it, and I think neither do you
Though I added 'support' for f2fs, it didn't work the time I tried to format my cache, if you want to test it, use the SkyMelon kernel
Any other issues:
You tell me
How to install:
method 1:
flash it using adb fastboot:
install adb and Xperia m4 Aqua drivers
download the recovery.img and put it in adb folder
1- turn off the phone
2- press volume up and connect the usb cable
3- open cmd and type fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
method 2:
Use Flashify from the Play Store to flash it.
method 3:
flash it using older twrp (that support flashing img files)

I think I know why your variants don't want to boot, it's because the Image.gz-dtb thingy
I'll try to use the uncompressed one

I uploaded a fixed one in here or in the google drive link in the op, you have to extract it with 7zip or a similar program

the initial release works perfectly on my e2333

Hey,
I'm having some problems with this. I've tried to boot into the bootloader using adb and the button sequence and that doesn't look to be working.
I've tried to flash it using the latest flashify but the file explorer just crashes when trying to select a file.
I've also tried to flash it using TWRP 2.8 but that after rebooting back into recovery it remains on 2.8
I've been trying to do this on a bootloader unlocked and rooted e2303 running stock 5.0, any idea as to what other methods I can try?
Edit: Fixed, took some doing!

Hi, do you know if some twrp 3.1.1 exists for M4 aqua locked bootloader? E2303
I have this device root-ed + twrp2.8 installed but I want to put twrp 3.1.x
I would need some kind of pack as in this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/m4...-twrp-touch-recovery-bl-locked-t3257430/page1
This kind of file package with install.bat
M4Aqua-lockedTWRP-0.1-installer

Sorry if this question is absurd, but will this kind of ROM come with Overclock? Your webpage suggests something on 'More overclock' so I guess the ROM may come with it. Just curious, sorry >.<

Thanks, I managed to compile successfully, but couldn't boot the image stuck in fastboot mode and when flashing it, got stuck on the sony logo :/
@husam666 Mine passes the Sony logo, but after that... Screen is black but vibration, usb mass storage, adb, and maybe more is still working. Looks like sony isnt yet done with our kernel, is here anyone with kernel experiences? I really need some help, I am good in device tree's but not in kernels... Btw, my device tree completely works! I compiled with success, i tried booting with stock kernel: resulted on Sony boot logo loop... My own kernel: resulted in black screen after sony logo, but as I can see using adb: it boots successful, vibration also works. When i click the power button for 2 secs.
So the screen is the only bug i know so far.
Anyone, please contact me if u think that u can help with the kernel
Kind regards,
Jeffrey

If it boots that's really good news, I don't know anything about kernels, sorry. Anyway twrp has an adb command line interface, which means we don't need the screen in order to flash zips, atm I'm only interested in flashing supersu in order to root the phone.
So can you upload the kernel, please zImage and DTBs?
Thank you for your work

Does your recovery work with stock rom? Can you give me the .img file?

[KERNEL][41.2-41.3.A.2.24][G8231-2] Rootable kernel with disabled force-encryption.

It includes DRM patch and disabled force encryption.
Because fstab.qcom has been moved to system since 8.0, I cannot modify the boot image.
Some of you guys might have a problem with TWRP encryption password. With stock kernel, /data will be encrypted in a few boots even if you set no password.
About this kernel:
- Working camera (DRM-patch)
- Disabled dm-verity (so we can use magisk)
- Can mount /data in recovery (it means we can install magisk inside /data)
- Pass both safetynet
- You can still encrypt any time
- It will not decrypt your data. In other words, you have to do factory reset (wipe data) if it's already encrypted.
- See encryption status in Setting->Security
You can download from the attachments.

How to disable by yourself? - Not for Oreo
Prerequisite:
- 32-bit linux (you can use it on liveboot drive or VM)
It doesn't work on cygwin (windows) because of its native executable. So use linux 32 bit (i386), or 64 bit (amd64) with multiarch.
- Unpack using mkbootimg tool made by xiaolu (I tried kitchen and it won't work)
- Open fstab.qcom
- Replace "forceencrypet" with "encryptable"
- Pack again
- Done!
Thanks tobias.waldvogel and xiaolu for their awesome tools.
If you have any question, feel free to ask me or some nice guys here.

In what order to I flash recovery, root and the kernel? (I've never used a kernel before)
Great, but you can just flash twrp-3.0.2-0-kagura.img instead of a newer version and it will work perfectly. For some reason the newer twrps for xz will ask for password to decrypt data
And can you make this for g231?

You have to unlock bootloader first before you can flash anything. Then just "fastboot flash boot <thatkernel>.img" in fastboot (blue LED). Recovery and root is optional. Normally, you have to use TWRP recovery to flash zip (su installer).
So, unlock bootloader -> flash kernel -> flash recovery -> install su in TWRP
Also, you can read detailed my tutorial here.

I understood the issue was twrp saying is encrypted while you didn't encrypt it yourself, may have misunderstood but I didn't test it while I actually encrypt it myself. And thanks!
Everything is working fine for the kernel, I no longer get the green photos and I can download Super Mario Run (my go to Safetynet app), but when I try to boot into recovery to flash Magisk all I get is a black screen. I tried flashing another TWRP version and still get a black screen. I'm on the dual sim variant.
Even if this problem can't be fixed, thanks for the kernel!

The problem wasn't installing magisk, it was that TWRP wasn't installing correctly. Attempting to reach TWRP leads to a black screen. It's easily avoidable by booting the twrp.img through adb/fastboot (then flashing magisk there), I just can't install TWRP onto the phone.

Team Win Recovery Project (TWRP) is an open-source software custom recovery image for Android-based devices. It provides a touchscreen-enabled interface that allows users to install third-party firmware and back up the current system, functions often unsupported by stock recovery images. It is, therefore, often installed when rooting Android devices, although it isn't dependent on a device being rooted to be installed.

No the bootloader was unlocked. I finally was able to flash twrp. You missed a step though:
0) Reflash all the OEM First before flashing TWRP
Just a heads up to anyone else....
If you get this message in red text:
"Only official released binaries are allowed to be flashed"
or this message in a blue screen of death:

Congradulations! You just tripped SAMSUNG'S SECURITY APE! You just won..... more flashing.... :silly:
Just reflash "ALL OF THE STOCK FIRMWARE." The BL + AP + CP + CSC to fix it and put the ape back into the cage.
Here is the command to push a file to the SD card with ADB:
adb push Disable_DM-Verity.zip /sdcard/Disable_DM-Verity.zip
Thanks rupanshji !!!! Hope you get encryption working soon and LOS.
If you could also make it compatible with the SM-T597, that would be nice
Hi rupanshji. Any news on lineage? I'm really impressed with the specs of the tablet and confused why there is almost zero efforts to get any custom roms ready for that device.
Just to let everyone know. LOS is still being worked on. His laptop is in repair so he has to get it back. If you have the 595 tablet PLEASE JOIN THE TELEGRAM GROUP so you know what is going on.

I can confirm that it is working on SM-T597P with firmware T597PVPS2ASG3. I also went ahead and pulled the stock recovery and boot, as well as modified the RootFix for any device. You can find those files here Link. Thanks Dev for bringing this to light . I also didn't follow the install directions exactly so ill list the steps i took.
1. Flash TWRP with modded odin and reboot to download.
2. Flash Stock recovery and as soon as it reboots enter stock recovery.
3. Wipe Data/Factory Reset.
4. Reboot to Bootloader from Stock Recovery.
5. Flash TWRP again and after reboot enter TWRP.
6. Flash RootFix.
7. Flash DM-Verity and Force Encryption Disabler.
8. Reboot to system.
If anyone would like me to pull the stock recovery of their firmware for them i'm more than happy to.
Compatability with the sm-t590 would be greatly appreciated

Notes:
These are built with kernels from the latest Beelink GT-King (Amlogic S922X w/ w400 reference board) and Beelink GT1mini (Amlogic S905X2 w/ u212 reference board) firmware, but will probably work on any device based on the same reference boards.
The signed .ZIP files are suitable for installation with stock OEM recovery, but they use platform test keys and so might not work on builds requiring release keys.
If your device uses Android Verified Boot, there are additional measures you must take to successfully boot with a custom recovery partition.
Some OEM firmware have a stock recovery auto-restoration "feature" that will immediately replace TWRP after you reboot to system. The easiest workaround is simply to reboot to recovery immediately after the flash by holding the reset button. You can also try renaming /system/recovery-from-boot.p.
This is unofficial and unsupported, so the usual caveats apply. Since we don't flash the bootloader, you should be able recover from any problems...but nothing is guaranteed.

Sounds like your box is using AVB 2.0.
Can someone please assist with how to root the U211 devices? TWRP works great, SuperSu 2.82 installs successfully via TWRP but when the system boots, it's still not rooted.
Any help is greatly appreciated here

Do you perhaps have the DDR4 (S/N: B922X) version of the GT-King? This one was build for the LPDDR4 (S/N:922X) hardware revision.

Just hold the reset switch in for about 20 seconds while connecting power.
Fastboot mode is more of a challenge on the GT-King, since it can't get enough power from the USB cable by itself. You've got to hold the reset switch while simultaneously connecting both power and the USB cable to the back port.

Magisk installation
And what to do to install Magisk correctly. The root is already on the Android 9 device. Unfortunately, the Magisk installation by TWRP has failed so far. Have any ideas? (applies to device and Amlogic S905X2 HK1 Play)
Can this be used on the Ugoos AM6 pro 4 gb / 32 gb s922x?

My understanding is that Ugoos doesn't use the platform keys, and so the .zip file won't work with the OEM stock recovery. You should be able to flash the .img file, though, from TWRP or dd with root. (Yes, I know that's a bit of a chicken-or-egg scenario, so you might need to use Amlogic's USB Burning Tool or update.exe.) Also, look to see if they've implemented AVB 2.0, which can also be a PITA to work around.
Hi
I've got my eyes on a Beelink GT king Pro. Does this work with a s922x-h board @Magendanz ?

I'd be surprised if it didn't. It's based on the same reference board as the GT King.
Ok great !
Thanks for the quick answer ^^
have someone a way to put TWRP on Amlogic S905X3?
Hi.
Can this be used on the S905X3? (Wechip v9 4GB/32GB)
Hello. When I try "Apply update from EXT", I got:
Code:
Found: Amlogic/p281:8.10/OPM1.171019.011/root:userdebug/test-keys
E3003: This update package is intended only for Android Pie builds (SDK 28)
Does it mean I cannot install it in Oreo Android?

Yes that is what it means, I think his REF to TWRP-9.0 pretty much explains its for android 9 aka Pie only.
But there are many other recoverys that do work for Oreo...

About Team win recovery project
TWRP is an open source, community project. TWRP development is done by roughly 4 people at this point. We also have a large support community with many people who are willing to answer questions and help people with their devices either through our IRC channel or on forums like xda-developers.
Team Win was originally formed to work on porting WiMAX to CM7 for the HTC EVO 4G. After our work on the EVO 4G we wanted to work on a project that would work on more devices than just the EVO 4G and we settled on working on a recovery. Today TWRP is the leading custom recovery for Android phones.

No! You need to unlock your bootloader before using this.
Hi,
First thanks for your great work.
But I have a problem.
After doing a full backup and doing some testing, I restored my whole backup. The process succeeded. But I am stuck in a bootloop,my phone boots to the point, where I can see the LOS 17.1 Logo, But does not continue. Have waited for 30 minutes a few times now.
I tried the built in bootloop fix, But it does not fix my problem.
Thanks in advance

Hi! I'd like to install TWRP on my Nokia6.1 2018 however whenever I reboot to download mode for whatever reason the device isn't found anymore through ADB and because of that I can't do fastboot devices as it yields nothing and when I skipped it, it just waited for a device forever. What's weird is that it is connected, even windows says that.

While phone is in fastboot mode, open device manager. Locate the unknown device and update its driver. Choose fastboot driver from existing drivers. It will install the driver and will work

Follow this,
fastboot flash recovery (drag recovery here or insert path)
press enter, it will fail saying something about a-b slots
Then finallay do,
fastboot boot (drag recovery here or insert path)
press enter
should boot your TWRP now

Thanks, I had same problem and this is working. Anyway the problem is, I have to do this every time I want to TWRP. Is there any way how to fix this and be able to avoid `flash recovery` part?
edit: removed
Looks like can't decrypt with Android 11. I'm 100 % sure that password is correct. With Android 10 it worked fine.
Are there any plans for updates? Thanks.

The device has 2 boot slots. Try switching with fastboot --set-active: https://www.techmesto.com/possible-fix-nokia-smartphone-stuck-on-download-mode-after-ota-update/
I cannot file the download link for the twrp installer.zip file. I have the image file but cannot find the zip file on the github download site.
