3GB/16GB Mido - Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Questions & Answers

I have just seen a new version of the RN4X (SD625) with 3GB RAM and 16GB internal storage. Does anyone know whether this is a genuine product?

Was the bootloader unlocked?

The real question here is ... why would you get the version with 16GB of storage when the 32gb is just a few bucks more?

some people like me rarely take pictures/ record videos, and do not install bunch of games and apps
so, 16gb is more than enough for me... If I need more, I can always put a microsd...
And yeah... 16gb is just $123 here in Indonesia
$123 for a 3GB, Snapdragon 625, fullHD, 4100mah, Fingerprint, IR, FM, Gyro, Compass is crazy bargain.

it's really confusing, because Redmi has different codename for 4 and 4x.
thanks for clearing that up, and how about the back of the phone?
i asked the seller and he said plastic back, is it like the one on Kenzo? middle metal with top and bottom plastic?

12GB for firmware?

Why it takes so much space? It does not seems normal.
It seems to be the norm for Android now, it's as big as NT6....................who'd have thought a mobile OS would be bigger than Windows

Same ?
12.13GB Mate 10 ALP-L29 8.0.0.119 C636
8.6gb on c636128 firmware
I just checked my Mate 9 which had been mothballed. It has 14.64GB for Firmware. So I guess this is nothing new. Also, I just asked a friend that has the new Pixel XL and his system memory (probably similar to Firmware) is 9GB.
8.34 on c185b126
Just checked mine... 16.55GB !!!!! This is on C782 (BLA-L09.8.0.0.124).... Holeeee hugeness... remember vaguely that old firmware was 12GB-ish... That's a massive loss of storage... Any way to free up space ?? Or, to is this the way it is ???
16.56 gb. Having 128gb is nice
Why is there so many différences between firmware's size ???

Maybe there will be some development for the Honor View 10 that we could also take advantage from.

Is that phone related? I'm holding off on unlocking my bootloader until we have proper TWRP working. I sure as heck am not going to pay $30 every time I brick my phone.

Yes, they have a lot in common. Same CPU, same OS at launch (so maybe same partitioning) and usually Honor has Open Kirin support. I guess time will tell.

Messages for web on LeMax2

So, I have 2 oneplus one devices and one lg g5 device, all of them running LineageOS. All of them has already received this functionality.
But, my LeMax2 still does not. Can anybody confirm, do you have messages for web available on your LeMax2?
P.S. I mean this: https://www.androidauthority.com/how-to-use-android-messages-for-web-computer-878155/
I can only suspect dual sim phones are not supported, but there is no any official confirmation from Google.
Just wait, it's been a few days from now that I'm able to send message from web. I did nothing, except waiting :victory:

That's weird, my advise is to wait a few more day.
I don't think that a ROM can block this functionality

Yep that's where I got mine from. There was a bit of a delay initially on shipping. Took about 5 days before they actually shipped it. Otherwise it was great. Great communication from their customer service and all. I got the phone in 3 days after it actually was shipped out. Paid about 18 bucks for fastest shipping option

No OEM unlock option in T-Mobile Samsung S9+?

I have a T-Mobile s9+ and for the life of me, I cannot get the OEM unlock button to show in Dev options. I've had my phone for over the 7 days, as I saw you need. I've even tried doing the "change the date manually and restart" trick and no luck.
Is there no option for the T-Mobile version of this phone and it's already OEM unlocked? Can I just go ahead and root my phone without issue? Or do I need to get that button before I can go ahead and root/install a new rom?
If you have the G965U, no you will not be able to unlock the boot loader.. My oppinon, is when all manufactures were done stealing ideas from dev's live here on XDA.. They decided they did not need them anymore and locked the phones down.

You can root, but it comes with big downsides. Search for Extreme Syndicate S9 root here in XDA and you can read all about it.

You can install GSI, but they have the same downsides that the default oreo root ROM included has, if not more. I'm on 10 too lol. I tested it, played around with it then went back to stock. It was neat.

I mean the good thing about this method is that it doesn't unlock bootloader, so it doesn't trip knox. The bad thing about not unlocking bootloader is that you can't install custom kernels or recoveries.
