While the phone doesn't have as much custom ROM support as other Xiaomis, you can still choose between the unofficial LineageOS ROM, Mokee, and Resurrection Remix, my personal favorite custom ROM.

I hope it gets better and better..

Most of the development is done by psy_man.
Without him it will be dead.

I found on Android File Host a new developer for our phone, Giasen that has just published the RR 6.0 rom (Oreo based). There are no information about the rom, no changelog or anything else but hopefully there are good news

I believe the mi note 2 us underestimated
It has potentials but nobody really cares about it
After all these years i found that newer versions of custom ROMs don't help the note 2 become faster
I m still in aosp Oreo and thats a conclusion after testing many ROMs 8.1 and 9.0

Regarding the special edition Marshmallow for Redmi Note 3 SD!
Seeing as the only bug is a locale after reboot change, can any of the most mighty devs here create an AOSP style ROM from it or use the base of that ROM to stabilize the current set of custom ROMs?
I am a novice be nice to me!

The answer is no. Devs can use some parts of the code, kernel etc, but that's the idea behind aosp (and the others), so that it is a pure android, which can't be based on miui.
Btw. All pure roms based on marshmallow work pretty well.
Sent from Note 3, Xiaomi Redmi Note 3.

[Question] LineageOS for Redmi 5 Plus (vince)

Will there be a LineageOS for the Redmi 5 Plus soon? (Codename: Vince)
It got a snapdragon 625 so it shouldnt be that hard, isnt it? Or is something important missing so there will no custom roms soon?
If someone CAN build LineageOS for this device, but hasn't got enough resources for this, please contact me via PM. I'll able to set up a Server
(Just for Lineageos )
Good question - should be fairly straightforward in theory, but changes in displays, touch panels, cameras and fingerprint sensors will always present a unique set of challenges for an experienced dev considering there is no kernel source code yet. Redmi Note 4 development efforts will definitely help no doubt as certain blobs should be ported over without issue, but a bit of classic reverse engineering and testing will be needed to begin with. Building 7.1.2 shouldn't be too hard, but 8.0 will be a little trickier until codebases stabilise. Really hoping that MIUI 10 introduces treble support!
Will definitely be keen to test ROMs as they become available for the Redmi 5 plus though, seems like a decent successor to the Redmi Note 4 even if the lack of an SOC upgrade makes it a little boring as an upgrade - but they won't be selling the Redmi Note 4 forever.

Yea sure, no kernel source is a problem, and as it seems Xiaomi wont release any kernel sources soon anymore .. take a look at the Mi A1.
For my knowledge, treble will be ONLY available if the devices COMES with Android 8(.1)

did it come at least with 8.0?
Do we have information if the Lineage team is working on an official version? This seems like it will be a quite high volume phone.

I am planning to buy the redmi 5 plus ( aka Redmi note 5 in India), but i can't withstand miui. I hope there are developments regarding the custom roms for this device very soon. Currently on redmi 4x (Crdroid custom rom).

Custom ROM or not just yet

Hey everyone! I'm waiting for my new mi 8 lite to come and I'm wondering if I should flash a custom ROM immediately or not.
I used to have Redmi 3s prime (land) and I faced a few issues with custom ROMS, i.e. huge battery drain (LOS 15.1), camera picture desaturation (LOS 16), unbelievable lags (dot os).
In that device, the most stable ROM among those tried was Havoc OS, but the one I enjoyed most was LOS 16, because it was simple and minimal.
So, is there any platina ROM that has both good battery back up, simplicity and preserves the great camera mi 8 lite has?

Like any miui device if you want the best your camera offers you need miui. Custom miui roms will provide the best compromise. If you want aosp Havoc is available also but the maintainer builds and posts in his limited free time. So builds are a little behind source but for me havoc has what I want in an aosp rom.
There is fully working MIUI Camera port for custom roms. You can try one of many the most popular currently are Aosip and Pixel Experience. Roms are updated fairly regular but all the main notifications and changelogs are in telegram group. So join there if you want to be up to date and also if you need help you will get it faster than here. Btw for me best experience is Xiaomi EU stable rom, its MIUI without ads and bloatware. But its up to you to find what suits you best.

Development of roms kernel and mods for redmi note 9 pro curtana

I am just want to know why the development of custom rom kernel is not going on for our redmi note 9 pro curtana because its about 2 months now and there is no twrp that fully working and there is nothing much custom rom available for redmi note 9 pro why? Xda developers
Lol, same question I posted earlier today on another board.
I wonder, if the Note 9s/Pro isn't really attractive for users?
Or is it more difficult to build custom ROMs with android 10?
Or other reasons?
I think they have a problem with the kernel
Who are trying to fix it
But for twrp, mauronofrio has developed it as a test, which I believe will come in a stable version in the coming days.
I hope that in this post, developers will give us more information
I mean if it is easy develop it yourself. We have functional recovery which can flash roms. What are you gonna do more in recovery?
I started to regret to buy 9s because it has no stable aosp
