Round (google apps) icons are not displayed correctly after upgrade to 7.1.1 - Moto Z Questions & Answers

Hi,
after upgrading to Android 7.1.1 I realized, that some of the Icons inside the appdrawer/homescreen are not displayed correctly.
With Android 7.1.1 round Icons were introduced. Some of the Icons are just fine, like Maps or Google+,Google keep etc., while other google apps (like playstore, inbox, drive, gmail etc) are round, but they have a white space around the icon which has shrunk in size.
These Icons normally should be displayed like the first three I mentioned.
This problem seems only to be appearing with google apps. There are apps which are not displayes as round, but that is okay since they do not have a round Icon by default.
The issue can be seen on the attached screenshot.
after updating I did not do a hardreset, which supposedly fixes this issue, and I do not plan on doing so at the moment.
I am looking for a solution, which does not force me to do perform reset.
I am thankful for every clue I can get to solve this issue
Hopefully I can be understood, since english is not my first language.

You can reset your system. After that, all icons will be shown correctly.
Maybe you can try wiping data and cache from your Launcher.

A reset is not an option at the moment. That is why I am looking for another solution. I already wiped the cache and data from the launcher (nova) and google now launcher, which I do not use.
It seems that the settings (how the Icons are shown - maybe another cache) for the stock icons are stored elsewhere.
Furthermore I already tried formatting the cache partition from recovery mode.

Hm, the last idea: Try changing the icon pack in nova settings, maybe reboot and revert back to system icons?

Unfortunately that did not work either

[Q] Request: Stock E3D lockscreen

So I was tinkering with some stuff trying to get a semi transparent app drawer to work. I got that to work and now have a close to perfect setup for my device. The only thing wrong now is that my app shortcuts on the lockscreen are missing. I've tried numerous things to get it back to no avail. I was trying to hold off from performing a hard reset. Does anyone know of a way to reinstall the lockscreen itself without having to hard reset? Everything else is so nice that I'm almost considering leaving it as is. Thanks in advance.

I actually really like what you have there. I've been working to remove the shortcuts ... lol. Do you think you could send me or post your APKs?
And yes ... if you pull the APKs from the stock ROM, you can use ADB or a File Manager to import the APKs back into the ROM. It will restore the original setup.
Thanks
fix
i think that you could probably take the setup that they have for the glass skin and apply that to your current work they have a transparent lock screen i believe

Any chance you want to share that background?
As far as fixes the only one I would know would break your transparent lock bar so I am not sure

I could flash the zip successfully, but when i come to the part of choosing a launcher (the lollipop launcher) (after clearing the default setting for the current launcher) i dont find lollopop launcher in the list to click on it. But i do see it in the app drawer.
Weird issue.

Z2 lock screen wallpaper locked to image from Youtube vid???

Hi folks,
I was watching a vid on youtube today and have noticed the lock screen wallpaper features an image of a scene from it. A blurry picture of hotdogs on a kitchen top
I can't get rid of it, I've tried setting other wallpapers, have applied Xperia themes but the bloody thing won't budge. My phone is unrooted and I'm using Sony's Lollipop OS.
Any help? It's infuriating and looks stupid as hell!

I tried locating the above image and deleting it to see if that would help. I tracked it down via File Manager and it was saved to my internal memory to a screenshots folder. I deleted it but it keeps regenerating and its still there as a lock screen wallpaper.
Here are the image properties if they mean anything....

This has been observed as a bug in lollipop.
Try these suggestions -
1. Clear Cache/Data of the YouTube app and Reboot
2.Just play a station(Fm radio) or any music from an app and then close it.(This will put an album art on the lock screen) and the lockscreen picture will be back to normal.
3.Watch a different video on YouTube and then close it.
Thanks for the advice. I didn't do any of that, I installed the XZ Locker app last night, set a wallpaper (which didn't work) but after deleting the app my lock screen had reset itself to a pre-installed Xperia wallpaper (which I can now change to anything of my choice).
Strange one but everything seems to be fine now.

I need to find a "ghost" notification

I just upgraded from an LG G4 to a G6. I set the phone up as a new device and did not do a restore from the G4 or from any other device. I installed my apps one-by-one.
Just recently, the phone started playing the default notification sound and I am unable to determine what app might be triggering the sound. Is there any way to determine what app is triggering the notification? Is there a log somewhere?
The attached file is a screen shot of my notification shade.

Hello
as a first step i would recommend a cache cleaning:
From the home screen, tap Apps.
Tap Settings
Tap Storage
Under device storage tap Internal storage
Wait for the menu options to finish calculating
Tap Cached data > clear
Wait for the cached data to clear; depending on size, it will take several seconds to complete.
Reboot device
=============================================================
Goto settings > accessibility > Turn off notification reminder. -if enabled-

Hangouts and Gmail are reported to cause this problem please check your gmail inbox incase there are new messages coming to you each time this happens as well as Hangouts if you are using it.
I suspect it's something to do with "location services" "... we've located you...."

Yes, but since it happens intermittently I don't know if this resolved the issue.

Have any of you encountered this problem? (see picture for reference)
Just got the phone yesterday (6gb/64gb variant, global rom) toggled themes to make the battery percentage appear just before updating the phone. Now after the update the "NoGlyphs" appeared suddenly. Tried applying other themes, restarting the device but the problem still persists. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Yes I get it too.
Here is the attached screenshot.

Clearly font issue. Did you change any font that was applied with the theme? Change the font back to stock. It should fix it.
No glyph means there's no placeholder for that character (unicode).
Some additional problems encountered:
-Can't change wallpapers when using nova launcher, you need to go to themes and change the wallpaper from there.
-NoGlyph appears on some instances when trying other themes. But later on after 2-3 changes it goes back to normal.
-Text color on some notifications blend in with the color of the background which makes it unreadable
-notifications dont even appear on the lock screen and sometimes don't drop from the status bar whenever a notif from fb or a message comes.
-don't even get me started on the clock display. Even when I deselect the 24hr ver. It stays the same and just adds am or pm next to it
Hopefully they'll fix the bugs in future OTA updates. Its buggy as hell!
