Fast wireless charging? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

After receiving the new update today my fast wireless charging doesn't seem to work. Cable still fast charges fine. Anyone else having this issue?

I have had this issue since the red tint fix and posted about it here a few months ago. 4 phones later and I am still seeing it. No response from Samsung direct or going through sprint as of yet. Hopefully this link will give you some more insight to the issue as it is becoming more widespread.

Wireless charging woes...

Has anyone else had problems with wireless charging? My phone will connect then immediately disconnect. Started with the LG charger that I got from the store, and I thought it was just the charger so I ordered a Nokia one and it does the same exact thing leading me to believe it's the phone and not the chargers.
I plan on going into the store, but wanted to see if there was anyone else that has experienced this.

Well, thought it might be a recovery, kernel, or Rom issue, but after changing all of those I've seen no difference, although now it flat out doesn't work. Tomorrow is my one day off, so I will be going to the store to figure it out.

I can only add that I have no trouble with the Nokia charger.
I have Nokia charger work perfect no problems

I have had DNA since release day, not rooted. Have LG charging pad and nokia 900 pad. Initially no issues with wireless charging but on friday lost this capability completely for no apparent reason (no new apps or drops, etc). Still can charge via usb cable fine. Spoke with HTC and Verizon, and I was the first person to report this issue. Per HTC this "must be" a hardware defect, not easily fixable, and new phone sent out. Should get tomorrow and I think HTC is going to look at my device. They seemed surprised by this problem. So you are not alone.
I have been holding off on getting a wireless charger to see what people are reporting but now im thinking i should of got it right with my phone to see if i also would have similar issues and if so i could of changed out my phone to a brand new one rather a refurb. I will follow this post to see if more people report the same issue
I can report that my DNA has done all it's charging(except when plugged in for file transfer/unlock/adb commands) on a Nokia Fatboy Pillow and it's freaking great. Does it charge slower? Yes. Is it worth it for the convenience? Yep, no question about it.

[Q] damaged charger; both male and female

hi,
Thank you for looking at my question. I have a prime which is roughly 15 months old. rooted and running the new energy rom. I use this both for work and at home daily and I am totally happy with everything about it.
Over the past week or so I've noticed that it's hard to plug in the charger every evening and today when I plugged it in the display went dark. You can very faintly see the start up screen but no real lighting at all. I took a look at the charger and several of the cooper peices are bent over and you can see a bit of where on both sides from 15 months of use.
I just contacted Asus customer service and got the normal caveats you typically get when you attempt to return for repair anything by phone...it will take about a month, you need to pay for shipping, etc.
i checked this forum using keywords like "Damaged charger" and didn't come across anyone else that's had this problem. Is anyone familiar with this issue? There's no reason except the charger (and the possible short to the display I just caused plugging it in ) that I wouldn't be happy with this tablet for a few more years. I just don't want to put out, potentially, comparatively alot of money if the plug has been failing regularly for others too.
Anyone familiar with this problem? does anyone who's dealt w/ Asus care to guesstimate a cost?
Thank You for your help.

[I9300] Battery charging issues.

Hi all,
The problem I have is rather well known and sooner or later will probably hit every S3 user out there. I'm asking this question to see if someone found a solution now.
I've been using my S3 till it premiered in 2012 so I'm aware of most surprises it can throw at me. The first time I encountered charging issues was a few months after I purchased the phone. Then I found a solution on XDA - a charger&cable duo needed to be replaced. I did that, the problem went away for another few months.
Till now this phone munched several sets of chargers and a few batteries. I always used Galaxy Charging Current app to pick the best charger, but it started to become a challenge. Right now I can neither use power banks nor charge from USB. No car charger works. The best I have are S5 stock charger and some Sony replacement one, but they give 400 ma for 20 minutes at most, then it falls to 0 i I need to reconnect the charger.
And finally I borrowed a 2A Xiaomi charger... and that gives a solid 1A charge. I'm going to buy myself one, however I know it's a temporary fix.
The problem is definitely of hardware origin - I used different ROMs / kernels. It's either USB port or some charging module.
Have anyone by no figured out what is responsible for S3 losing ability to charge properly? Is it worth to resolder the charging port?
No water drop ? (corroded usb port or cold solder joint)
I'm currently using a S3 as my so-called main phone and I have no battery or charging issues at all.
However, I did get this phone for free with the motivation that the battery is fried and it holds no charge.
Like you're saying, alot of S3 owners are experiencing theese issues you describe.
Allthough I DON'T know the reason for why this happens, what I do know is that the problem stopped for me as soon as I flashed my ROM with Cyanogenmod 12.1 (Unofficial - Dated 2015-12-18 ) and TWRP.
So I guess that's my recomendation. It's actually a real nice OS with loads of great features.
EDIT: I would like to add that I'm still using the same battery that was in the phone when I got it.

Just got the update, and letting it settle in a bit.
Did the update.. S8+ seems to be a little snappier..
I have two S8+ and both have experienced a couple of problems with this update. Both also have an Otterbox Defender case. Before the update, I could use the Samsung Fast Charge Wireless Stand without any problem. Now, it stops charging after about 10 seconds. If I take the case off the phone, it will charge fine, but I shouldn't have to do that now if it worked fine prior to the update. The other problem is the charger that came with the phone consistently gives "slow charger connected" messages on the phone.
I've never had luck with otter box cases as far as charging is concerned

I agree. The added protection seems to prevent a strong enough "signal" (not sure if it is wave or what) from charging the devices I've had. I guess that is the one of the trade-offs.
Does this affect hotspot?
I've had two random reboots today since I upgraded last night

Lost hotspot after update.. But was able to reapply settings with no problem.
My S8+ did the update now wireless charging is not functional. I have the Samsung fast wireless charger and my S8+ is in an Otterbox Defender case. The wireless charging worked perfectly before the update. 50 to 100% in 45 minutes before the update. Now after the update wireless charging disables itself about 5 seconds into the charge. Doesn't matter what i do it wont charge. Will try to remove it from the case later today and see if that helps. Why would they break this?
You're not alone
I have also been having issues waking to a full charge in the morning after leaving on the Samsung wireless fast charger overnight. I place it on and see that I have connected and the screen goes off. I awake and the phone has less charge than when I placed it on there. Mine is also in a Defender case. The weird thing is that it is inconsistent. Will happen some nights, and not others. Completely hit or miss. Not sure if it is relating to applications running in the background, if they should be cleared out prior to charging overnight or if the phone is heating up and stops charging.
I have also seen where it displays a ridiculously long time to completely charge while plugged into a wall fast charger. Have seen where it will display 5+ hrs for a complete charge when it is at 58% and I am charging because I am going to an event and will not have access to a charger and don't need it going dead on me in that time frame.
I feel this has started ever since the most recent update.

Well an update for those interested. I removed the otterbox case and wireless charging worked again. I put the plastic surround case back on the phone and left the rubber skin off and wireless charging worked after fighting it on the dock for a bit. Placed the outer rubber skin back on and nothing, the wireless charging stopped working again.
This blows, whatever the last update did (changing the signal threshold for the wireless charging, maybe something with the batter security) Not sure those smarter then me might be able to figure it out, broke it.
This update has pretty much made the Otterbox Defender case useless if you intend to use the wireless charging feature. Or if you don't mind disassembling your phone every evening to use the wireless charging. I guess I could use the cable, but I wanted to avoid that, they wear badly.
Hope this helps someone out.
AQEF new bluetooth issues
After AQEF, my s8+ is royally wonky. Bluetooth is unusable because of disconnects for headsets, gearvr controller, you name it.... wish I was back on release rom.

That sounds more like an issue with the phone itself... gotta love that we haven't destroyed the warranty at all, so it's covered as a warranty thing...

Galaxy S7 Powers Off Overnight While Charging?

Not sure where to find the answer to this as I have searched and searched and came up empty handed but I am running Stock 7.0 on my S7 from Verizon. When I leave my phone to charge overnight it turns off but I don't believe it's due to lack of charging as it's the standard quick charger that came with it. I figured it was due to sometimes leaving the hotspot on but even with the hotspot it still occurs. I've never had this problem with 6.0 but 7.0 has been causing it lately and it's bothering me as i need it for alarms and downloading stuff overnight when my speeds are faster. Thank you if anyone can help me.
http://thedroidguy.com/2016/10/samsung-galaxy-s7-not-turning-charging-issue-related-problems-1066134 this may be of help but LMK if it isn't any help or doesn't point you in at least one direction towards a solution.
