JoD to Note 8 returning current phone question - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Guides, News, & Discussion

Anyone know if you can return your current phone to the tmobile store. I preordered the note 8 through 611 was told to mail back my old phone but I don't wanna mail it I rather return it in the store. I guess mixed answer whether i can or cannot return it to the store. Anyone have an answer?

Usually if you order by phone then everything is handled by mail. The stores will refuse to deal with you. The only reason I could return my Note 7 to the store, last year, was due to the recall.

Returned my V10 in store last year when I got my N7 in the mail. Shouldn't be a problem. I would have mailed it but procrastinated and was afraid I'd get charged another lease payment ? Try it the worst they'll say is no.

ALWAYS return JOD devices in store and get a receipt. I have done about 10 JODs since it's start and never had an issue.
They actually clear it out right there so no worries about following up or potential shipping damage.

Def do it in store. They actually tell you not to mail JOD devices. Takes like 5 mins and you're free and clear.

[Q] return amazon wirless rezound

I just got my rezound from Amazon wireless. I love the phone however I.have the light leakage and its already overheating. Do I.need to send it into Amazon or can I return it at a local Verizon store? I I've read both circumstances happening. Just wondering if anyone else has done either yet. Also if u send it in can u get a loner? This is my first Verizon phone. Thanks
I think you have to use amazon for the first 30 days then you can use verizon. It may be worth it to put up with it until verizon can help you.

I got both a Rezound and RAZR from Amazon. The Rezound is great, but I had some serious issues with the RAZR overheating and searching for signal. Called Amazon, they shipped me a brand new phone. Swapped SIMs, mailed the old phone back. Problem solved, and it didn't cost me a dime. Think shipping was 2nd day air.
EDIT: I also tried VZW first, because it would have been quicker, but they directed me to Amazon.
So they send one first... Have the replacement phones been without flaw or is it the same gamble. Might be better to wait the 30 days and use Verizon so I can check it...

The only reason I suggested waiting and using Verizon is that Amazon was backordered last time I checked.
Send back to Amazon. I just went through this and don't be afraid by the 2-5 week wait. They told. Me that and got an email a few days later it was being shipped.

Amazon is excellent for returns/exchanges hands down. I assume it will be the same process you request an exchange and they ship it out to you. They generally gave me overnight shipping for free (even on a saturday) to get me non-defective item. Then you just ship it back to them within a resonable time frame with the included label and you should be good to go.
You guys do realize Amazon will send you a brand new phone and if you wait 30 days Verizon cannot swap in store and will send you a refurbished phone thru the mail.

Verizon has a 14 day policy normally, but now if you purchased the phone after 11-15 you have until Jan.
Wouldn't the phone have a warranty through htc as well? Sounds like ill be contacting Amazon tomorrow though. Thanks a lot guys. Hopefully that one doesn't have the light leak. Lol watch me have a new problem. Is rather have the leak than pink buttons and all the other problems I hear about...

All of them have the light leak at the bottom. It is simply how it was designed. Sad really considering my Incredible S didn't have this issue.

I'd be willing to bet that it was a CSA who probably doesn't understand what light leakage is. Between my 3 rezounds and everyone I have looked at in the stores you can see the LEDs through the bottom of the screen when the soft keys light up which is what is causing the bleeding. There is no way to fix it except by turning off the LEDs or by lowering their intensity to improve on the light leak.

Went into verizon and they won't take the phone tho it sounds like I may as well deal with it. They really pissed me off though. I wanted to put on my work discount. Supposed to be 22% line 20% data. I called and reviewed online before I got verizon and the rep told me I would get the discounts. The store wouldn't discount my data because he claimed I need to have a 5gb data and hotspot plan. I was never told this and most likely wouldn't have canceled at&t during the penny sale. Anyone think I could complain enough to get this changed? Can't seem to find a phone number for them to save my life lol

Bestbuy 50$ offer, don't forget, like me

I almost forgot to use my 50$ BB card, because they never gave me one...
For pre-ordering the EVO, you're supposed to get 50$ BB card. My EVO was shipped to my residence, not the store. I am not sure if it is the same with others that dealt with Bestbuy, but they haven't contacted me in any way to redeem such a gift card. Maybe it has to do with the fact that it was not shipped to a Bestbuy store for pickup?? I am going to Bestbuy this evening and plan to use the 50$ toward the Otterbox case, they better honor it which they are still offering new EVO LTE purchasers- and I'm taking my receipt with me.
Maybe I missed something?

1) its a promotion which you agreed on when purchasing it
2) its still a valid promotion online
and 3) that crawls all over me
Go back to the store and fight for your 50$.

When I picked up my phone at Best Buy last Thursday, they applied the $50 Freedom discount, the $50 gift card discount, and the $50 trade-in of my old original EVO to my new EVO 4G LTE upgrade. I walked out of the store with the new phone, case + holster, Rocketfish car charger (needed new one) and Zagg HD shield for $94 and some change.
Make sure you get your $50 gift card. I think I do remember reading something where it said that it would be emailed to you in 2 - 3 days.
I just pre ordered today ti said I should still get the 50 gc as promotion is running to June 3.

I believe I saw the sign you are referring to when I pick up my EVO. I read it and the wording was confusing to me, so I asked about it. What I was told was that it was in reference to the planned launch date of 5/18 that was presented in last weeks flyer and not the $50 gift card offer. The offer was only mentioned as to provide a reference to the specific ad... or so I was told.
I was also told that I would receive my $50 gift card via e-mail in a few days, but I have not seen anything as of today. I will probably call them tomorrow if I don't get anything by then.
Ok this is weird I checked my email to see if anything was sent to me. I remembered getting emails saying I had x number of days left to pick it up. I didn't think much of it since I already picked it up. Then I got an email that said my preorder was canceled. I just read it again and it said
" Your reserved order has been cancelled because it was not picked up at the MANCHESTER MO Best Buy store #1897 within 3 days of confirmation. A refund has been issued for the amount of the cancelled item(s)."

Ya that happened to me. I am guessing that I went out of order and picked up my phone early. So I got the email saying to come pick up my Evo LTE, but was out of town with no service. Once I got into a service area I seen 3 emails from BB saying pickup, reminder and now cancelled, lol

I preordered online on may 7. Shipped out on the 24. Receiving them today. Got the gift card email last night. You might have to contact them about it.
Yeah so I went back to my best buy this morning and got my 50 dollar gift cards they sent them to me in the email got them 30 minutes later. funny thing is if I didn't ask they wouldn't have given them to me and they acted surprised when I told him there was this gift card.

My wife and I went into the ATT store in our neighborhood Saturday for her to pick between a SGS4 and a One, and see if we could get her an early upgrade. She's not due for an early upgrade until July and her Samsung Infuse is not performing well anymore and we wanted to take advantage of their trade-in offer. After waiting for about half an hour and haggling with a sales associate and the manager, the were not convinced and we left empty handed. A co-worker put me up to calling customer service and after explaining the situation and our in-store experience and a brief hold, the rep came back with some awesome news! She was approved to not only let my wife have the early upgrade, but a FREE upgrade to the black 64GB! And just to sweeten the deal, she threw in free overnight shipping!!! We're expecting it to arrive tomorrow. I think i'll keep the black one and let her have my silver 64GB.
All of those TMOUS and VZ subscribers who say ATT has terrible customer service have no idea. I have been with ATT since 2006 and have never needed to call customer service. This is not bad for a first experience!

Thats the funny thing because i didnt even tell her we were treated poorly in the store, but i think thats how she interpreted it. All i said was that my wife's phone is i sad shape and the store would not honor an early upgrade.

U just got very lucky. That one experience does not mean all of ATT is that way. Believe me you can call with the same question 5 times and get 5 different answers..been there A LOT with ATT. Go to vegas soon my friend, before your luck runs out

I simple told the Rep that I need my upgrade 2 months early because my current phone wasn't working for me anymore. she understood my problem and said retention department could help me. Five mins later she came back and said since I was nice and in good standing that she could approve my upgrade and wave my upgrade fee. I need a larger screen due to losing most of my eye sight in an accident she said the only draw back was I'd have to pay for whatever phone I wanted right then . So I told thanks and then spoke with her supervisor letting him know how great she was. Being very decent is the key even if you need to speak to a supervisor ask nicely and erasure the Rep that you understand that she help as much as they could. So I paid for my phone and they shipped it out ocernight. Be patient be pleasant they get ****tiy people calling all the time so it helps to be nice.

Co-worker got a similar deal. His problem was that the online system would cancel his order immediately after completing it. It happened twice. He called not to complain, but simply to order the phone and got it free with free overnight shipping. His account was eligible for an upgrade, though.
The store manager has the power to give u an early upgrade within 30 days of the eligible date. Its funny BC some managers will say well it has to be in the same calendar month or ah it's gotta be within 14 days. U got lucky!

[Q] Where (and when) did you get your HTC One Max?

I've had the MOST DIFFICULT time locating this phone. No one has them except Corporate Sprint (and Verizon) stores, at least in my area. It seems that Best Buy decided this is a phone they will NOT stock in stores...ever. I have called and visited over 5 Best Buy or Best Buy Mobile stores. None of them have it, and none were able to order it. I ordered it from BestBuy.com on release day, with a promised delivery by Monday, November 18. Well, I got an e-mail basically saying it was out of stock, and they expect to receive and ship orders within 30 days. I called Best Buy Mobile and spoke with a representative, who transferred me to a manger to find out more. The manager then called HTC for availability information, but HTC said "You need to call Best Buy." So then I called HTC and spoke with a representative, who transferred me to a manger. They called Best Buy to find out more information, and Best Buy said "You need to call HTC." PATHETIC. Between the two companies, SOMEBODY has to know when these phones will be in stock. And if they knew they didn't have any to begin with, they should have listed "backordered" on the website, and not "Add to cart."
Then today I called Wirefly.com and placed an order with them, and after giving all my information and going through all the steps with the representative, it turns out they, too are out of stock!! I opted for expedited shipping, in hopes to get it before Thanksgiving. But Wirefly.com says they "expect" to have more info on availability within 72 hours, but I don't trust them at all.
What is going on!? Is it just me, or is this the worst HTC product lunch ever!? I've heard (rumor) that they are trying to pull a card from Apple's deck, and create a false sense of demand. I'm a fan, and I've upgraded to a new HTC phone every year for the past 7 years, but I'm no idiot. I know HTC has neither the popularity nor the market share of Apple or Samsung. Not even close. So why is this phone so hard to acquire? For now, I'm going to leave both my BestBuy.com and Wirefly.com orders pending until one of them ships and they confirm it by sending a tracking number, then I'll cancel the other.
Side Note: For those wondering "Why don't you just buy it from the Sprint store?" I want to buy it from Best Buy because they have it for $250, plus they will give me a $50 gift card for upgrading through them, so that results in $200. Also, I like the advantages of the My BestBuy program. Wirefly had them for $200, which I would have been okay with getting it there. Sprint is asking $250, and they seem unwilling to match any of the others' offers. I'm going to try a different Sprint store tomorrow, where I know one of the managers. Maybe he will be willing to match Wirefly.com's offer. I'm tempted to order from Amazon.com, but I fear I will get the same "backorder" nightmare.

My local Verizon store had it in stock on launch day. I did get the same run around at Bestbuy before going to the VZW store. I too was a big fan of my note 2 and the jury is still out on the Max but I like it for now.

It's a Global Phone meaning it has the radios to do it. But knowing verizon it will be locked.

How? I asked to be notified by email of when it was coming by way of the HTC One Max coming soon landing page for Sprint. They did, and the page asked if I wanted to check my upgrade eligibility, so I did, and qualified for the One Up promotion, but it involved setting up an appointment to go into a authorized store. This was on a Friday. I made the appointment for Saturday, and waited all of about 7 minutes and they started the ball rolling.

No I've had the phone for a little over a year. Google replaced one of my phone's due to the battery drain issue.

I was actually trying to get a refund after the replacement they sent me also failed. But I guess getting a different phone altogether is a better way to go about it. Any tips for me on how you did that?

I just called and talked with them. I told them my phone was very important for work. They said they would send a phone out and when it got here it was a Pixel. I actually thought it was a phone case I had ordered when I opened the outer box.

You lucky dog, you ?! I am currently having a refurb shipped to me as well, hopefully I can be as lucky! Maybe they gave up on sending refurbs with the same issue... At any rate, I'm just glad they are taking care of their customers!

Got the email that my replacement has shipped it says 64gb 6p. Mines a 32 so I can't complain. A pixel would've been nice though.

I had the 128gb version. I also have one I purchased through Huawei but they won't don't anything for me.

I called them a few times. I also asked was the Pixel XL still on sale because I was thinking about that phone. They told me the sale ended on the 13th but if I wanted I could order it online. So I don't know if they made notes in my file.
I ordered my refurb 6P Monday, and it still hasn't shipped. When I emailed asking why, they said they are having stock issues, and if my phone doesn't ship by Friday to contact them and they will make sure to get a different phone sent out. Fingers crossed!
