Dont wanne bash you or something, but you find MIUI clean?
The build in cleaner/security/antimalware? apps very irritating!
Will maybe try in the future to ROOT a MIUI rom with nova launcher and removing the above specify apps.
But today im glad i could flash LineageOS!
I find (apart from Google devices itself that is) the Experia from Sony still the cleanish version i have worked with.
But i have to agree with all the other points!

I just bought this phone last week, May 16, 2018. My first impression about the phone is amazing. Especially for the price, i got this for $115. My Redmi 4x has 2GB/16GB variant. The price to spec ratio is absolutely great. With its specs, we all know what we are getting. Being a practical user that's why I choose to buy one of this. From my Motorola Moto E LTE, which is pretty old device, that's why I need to change to something even greater. Plus I like SD chips. Overall, my experience with my Redmi 4x is amazing. Cheers to all.

Please let me know how is this phone in real life? Many mixed reviews are confusing me. Also please understand that I live in Mongolia and when I purchase something from US it will take 3-4 weeks to get here and purchase is not good/faulty then impossible to return, so I have to be very careful.
My current phone is Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and it is dying. When I compare SGNote 3 and Oneplus X in GSMArena I see almost same specs such as Quad-core 2.3 GHz Krait 400, Adreno 330. I installed Cyanogenmod on my SGNote 3 when CM was available and still with CM ever since.
I want a phone with good battery life, good camera and good GPS, because I do lots of traveling, hiking, camping and taking outdoor pictures. But this time I can spend only $250-$350.
If software is only an issue on Oneplus X then how is it perform in CM? I've been using all my previous phones with CM, I have very good experience with CM, if all problems is related to Oxygen OS then I'm happy to install CM. But how stable is current CM?
My current choices are below, if you were me which one would you choose? Also if there are any other recommendation please let me know.
- Oneplus X (Good price, looks nice, to me small is really good, for one handed use in cycling, driving, hiking etc. But unknown to this brand and there are so many mixed reviews are scaring me, specs are outdated) $249

Why is your note 3 dying? Perhaps its better for you to buy a new battery (or other parts). Because in performance it will be almost the same.
My experience with opx is that it's the best < 140x70 mm with 5" device for me. Close followed is xiaomi mi4, but lack of amoled and design quality (aluminum trims) made me go for opx. My sot is stable around 6 hours with stock oos and root.
Mi4c has better battery life and better camera (when not tweaked). Mi5 has better hardware.
Huawei is an alternative too.
But both are less custom roms capable!
OPX has a tons of alternatives!
PS : it doesn't come from the US...
Well to be honest this OPX device maybe is not the best spec phone ever, but im my opinion for its price its a master piece, ther way it performs is absolutely great in every situation. From my view the important thing was to have a device with a good GPS, this phone is awesome at that, and of course, I wont use my phone to gaming but to work, that is the main point.
Everything depends on your necessities, mines are absolutely fulfilled with this phone.
Positive points are, overall performance and multitasking, its very fast 0 lag from my experience.
As negative I have some too, im honest, The gyroscope is not 100% precise, but nothing important just some little degrees.
And another point is that the back glass can get little scratches very easy.
I cant say nothign about that the gaming is bad cause I dont buy this device for gaming , instead of that I would have bough a gtx 970 for that purpose.
And the most important thing, and what for what I finallly decided to buy this phone, the magnificent team of independent developers, specially this community that bring us many possibilites and tweak our phones to be even more satisfied with them

Thank you guys for taking time to answers my questions to help me make my decision. I just ordered onyx OPX .
About my Note 3, last summer I have dropped it into the river. Technician said he fixed it but it is acting weirdly since then, specially last 2 months, such as randomly restarts, freezes etc, so annoying. And I'm starting to like small phones, after using my girlfriend's Galaxy S5, it is so easy to use when I'm in active situations

The only slight icky thing on this phone is battery life which could have been better definitely. Heating is another slightly icky issue. Otherwise, there is no zone on this phone which can disappoint you!
The honor 8 Pro has it's own quirks and sub-optimal menus. But overall, it's still good!
Honor is a pretty underrated companies functioning out there, with their Kirin Processor they basically blow Mediatek and Snapdragon out of the water and their cameras, I remember them to be the first to implement RGB+Monochrome sensors in their phone and the display just to dope, there phones need more attention!
I love this one. Planning in buying one too.

really a competitor to OP5 in less price. With EMUI 5.1 and most probably an O update in future, this is really awesome.
Camera, Battery, smoothness, RAM management is pretty good and no comparison to camera for sure.

It's been a while since I've been this happy overall with a phone. It just look and feels great. Only thing that is a let down for me is the sound in headphones which lacks depth.

Honor 8 Pro review, after 40 days of use.
I have used 2 phones over the past 4 years, the iconic Samsung Note 2, and Redmi Note 3. A year into its life cycle, the redmi had started showing its age. It was time for a change.
• OP5 Comparison
o The 2 phones that came to mind were One Plus 5 and Honor 8 Pro. I was very confused between the two and took a long time researching. Following tipped the scales in favor of H8P:
Grammar Nazi – I am a self-acknowledged grammar Nazi. Spelling and grammatical errors bother me. The OP5 website contains a glaring grammatical error. I even tweeted them about it, but it never changed. This may not be applicable to others, but this troubles me. It is also an indicator of attention to detail.

Jelly scrolling effect – This is a big one. And it is there on EVERY OP5. Some notice, some don’t. Some are bothered by it, some are not. I used my friends OP5 for a bit, and I saw that the Jello gets in the way every time one interacts with the phone. Very irritating.

• Data Privacy – A cell phone contains a lot of personal information. I would rather trust a big trusted conglomerate over a start up. Sure enough, just after I bought it, this report came out: Oxygen OS is sourcing personally identifiable information.

And it did! In 40 days I have not experienced over-heating even once. No exaggeration. Even extended camera use was handled with aplomb!
This one turned out extraordinarily well.
o Software Update Speed: This concern is still valid. However, Honor has been very keen in developing a dedicated community. The discussions on Honor meets have helped ease most of my concerns.
o Software : EMUI 5.1 is a gem of a software. I have found vanilla android to be very boring, and would opt for a skinned android any day. EMUI was never really a concern for me, it seems like a concern for a lot of people.
• Pros : Most other reviews have covered this. Hence I will not waste much space on this. Same old pros: Butter smooth performance, great screen, good battery & charging speed, OUTSTANDING camera, 128 GB Storage !
• Cons :
o Screen is highly reflexive. It is a bit tough to read/watch videos under direct sunlight;
o A big CON is the non-availability of accessories from the local markets. Doesn’t sound like a big deal, but it is. It is impossible to get phone covers/screen protectors locally. Honor doesn’t make it easy by providing options in this regard. I have struggled to buy a screen guard, and have not had any luck in that regard;
o This is a big phone. Those uncomfortable with this should stay away. It is leaner and lighter than the Iphone 7+ though;
o Knuckle gestures are very irritating. Wish they be replaced by something that doesn’t involve punching a brand new phone!
• Improvement Suggestions for H9P:
o Please find space for a stylus… Given one, this phone will blow the Note series out of water!
• X factor : Got this baby for a 4K discount!
All in all, a great device. If heating issue is what bothers you, buy it with a peace of mind.

I don't think any screen guard will apply on it because of the 2.5D curved glass on front.
Also, rest assured. Oreo will come within a month or two.

Looking for great experience
After half a year or so(or longer? Lol) I must say that this phone has been working perfectly and I've been more than happy with it. Screen quality, responsiveness (both hardware and software) and battery life among the best under 500€ ever.
Just hope Honor keeps up the updates, if so then this phone will easily be up there with in my top 3 best phones ever, right after the legendary 3310 and Sony Z2 (no heating issues here).

If you are lucky you will get a good phone, but as a user for a long time (almost a year without problems and with custom ROM, rooted and Xposed installed) I recommend you to buy Xiaomi A1 or Redmi Note4X.
I also think that it depends on luck and you get a good piece. I saw some bad problems on forums, but if there is 500 000+ sold units and there are lets say hundreds of bad pieces, I dont think it is not high number. I was lucky so I have it for year and half, using custom ROM, can pay with it instead of credit card, it has enough power for smooth run and everything I need and I cant really say anything bad about it. After that long time I still like to just take it and play with. It is also pretty phone and for that price I think it is still great. I would also mention cordless charging which is slow but still pretty badass for me and comfortable if u r not in hurry
low quality hardware, bad fingerprint, screen lines are visible under direct contact to sun light, needs lots of tweaking and rom replacement to actually get a somewhat stable piece of hw.. what i have good to say about it, is that it has a lot of custom rom support which us surprising since its an mtk cpu..

not hard at all, an example would be, Jiayu S3, might have worse specs, but overall vompared to elephone it is a better phone since it has custom rom support, doesnt have as much quality issues, and doesnt break that easily, and i think its even chaper than this phone, and it has a better camera

I have a weird question for you guys.
Currently I'm owning a OnePlus 7 Pro. But as a second phone I would like to buy a OPX (I don't know why I would need another one but I really love the aesthetics of the OPX).
Do you guys still recommend this phone in 2020? What are some advantages/disadvantages?
I don't want to replace my 7 Pro but I would like to use the OPX from time to time (especially with custom roms because I love rooting and things like that). I know that the custom ROM section of the OPX is nearly dead, but I saw that AEX and Lineage are still supported.
I would be glad to hear your stories and what you think about that idea. The OPX I could buy costs 70 Euros (78 USD), is it too much? The phone itself is in a good condition with no scratches.
Or do you guys think I should look for a OnePlus One instead?
Honestly if you're looking to buy a device to test custom ROMs and other software, go for the One. It has a way larger dev community, and is still supported officially by LineageOS. If you want a more compact and aesthetically pleasing device and can't think of anything else to burn that 70€ on, then the X is still a decent device to use as a backup phone. It has a great screen, awesome build quality and looks that hold up to this day despite the large bezels. Don't expect blazing fast performance, great battery life and an impeccable camera as you'll be disappointed. If you have realistic expectations from a device that's nearly 5 years old and all but abandoned and forgotten by the manufacturer and most of the community save for a dedicated cult following, then go for it. I've been using the X as my main phone since it came out, and the only thing that's pushing me towards upgrading is the tiny storage (16gb is really not enough in 2020, especially if you use a lot of apps and/or play games). I don't really use that many apps and I still barely get by, and the card reader is so slow that I'd never recommend installing apps on an sd card. Here's hoping that the rumored OnePlus 8 lite will live up to its spiritual predecessor in price to performance.
I have to agree. The OPX is the right size for me and has the same processor as the OP1, but there's not a lot of development going on with what is essentially a concept phone
I've been using my OPX since 2015; my brother gifted one to me pretty much right after it came out.
I can't speak to the relative size of dev communities, but I've had some fun trying different ROMs on it. Currently running "/e/" ("e.foundation") - which has been interesting, having all of the Google stuff excised (though I did eventually add some Google apps/services myself because I'm so used to them). Before I switched over, I was having a lot of problems with the stock OS acting up after years of auto updates. Now it runs beautifully. The camera leaves something to be desired (though actually the photo quality was better when using the stock camera software, so with the right app and settings it might be better), but that's not a big deal for me. I've also never had a problem installing/running apps on the SD card.
I love the form factor of the OPX. When I first got it, it seemed HUGE - but these days it's small and sleek compared to a lot of the smartphones I see. I actually get quite a few compliments on it. Folks are surprised to learn that it's an old model. Actually a big part of what spurred me to do the work of installing a custom ROM was that I didn't want to have to buy a new phone; I didn't like the look/size of any of the other options. With the custom ROM, I'll probably still be using this phone for another 4-5 years!
I have been using opx since the premiere with wooden case. A year ago I sent him to service to change my battery. I have always custom rom on my opx (on 8.1 by yummemuchi right now, but I think sultan rom is the best for opx) waiting for stable android 9.
The phone works well, looks nice and I don't feel like changing it.
The only thing I would like to change in it is:
- add nfc
- better battery
- processor
- faster memory
I just bought an OPX yesterday for $100 CAD and flashed POSP on it and it's working pretty great, super stable for a daily driver.
Camera is better than some older phones but really not great, especially on ROMs without the OOS cam it's pretty bad.
I wish the performance was better, I think if you overclock it a little it would feel more smooth. But the battery life would suffer and it's not that great already.
It's a great phone to tinker with and my girlfriend is currently using it as a daily driver.

Only as a secondary phone i reckon. I'm only keeping this phone because i just love it's beauty,however it is such a delicate darling. The glass sandwich device with AMOLED is a treat for something which sells for mere 50 dollars in used market where i live. So no point selling the beauty for so cheap. Also the spares are hard to find. My power button was broken from inside (not the actual smd internal power button but the one which we physically press), had to disassemble the whole device and i had to do DIY repair on it by literally rebuilding it with a piece of plastic from where it was broken from the other side.
The custom Rom scene is almost dead now, i'm currently on AEX which had the last update done months back.
Having said that, i kept it in pretty much new like condition by using it sparingly.
One good thing was last i checked with the service center for spares, they were providing free battery replacement where i live.
Anyway,how is your Oneplus x holding up?
it has the same form factor as iphone SE 2020. if you are using LOS 17.1 then it is worth it.
Seems to be a pretty decent phone, batteries might become an issue, as they always are,
And halting of constant pdates via the community on XDA, might also limit this phones utility.
But for a 4 year old phone, that's still going strong, I think not bad at all.
I think so! I still use my OPX as my primary phone. I love the small form factor, dual SIMs and FM radio. I'm not aware of any modern devices that compare. I had the battery replaced about a year and a half ago.
Thank goodness for the custom ROM scene here, because OnePlus abandoned support almost immediately.
So I'm looking for a new phone, with a bit more power.
Would you recommend this phone, I saw a couple of posts about sw issues, how serious is it?
I'm trying to decide between this one and the oneplus 10t, which is on sale right now.

Well, I haven't had software problems.
I come from a OnePlus9 pro and there I had more software problems. It would once crash and the screen would go black and couldn't be unlocked. I felt worse with the OP than I did with the Zenfone9.
Asus has updated my phone once every month. That in OnePlus did not happen to me.
In short, it depends on the personal experience of each one.
And if you can, go for the 16gb, but you will only have it black... I love red model! Snif...
I write to you from a black Zenfone9 16gb with the official beta of Android 13.
I would go for thisone over the 10T. OnePlus Software is just not good anymore. This fone is what OnePlus was onces.

Pretty much, the OP9 was the last OnePlus before they got fully merged into oppo. Check the OnePlus 10P/T forums here to see all the problems.
I came to this phone from OP 7T Pro, there are few things I don't like (the camera is not as great as I hoped and the bezels around the display are pretty huge, especially after coming from 7T Pro), but overall it is a great phone. The FP reader is the best I ever tried, it unlocks on instant, it cannot be any quicker, I love the small footprint, this is the main reason I went for this phone. I hate those huge 6.7"+ devices, I have short thumb. And all the small phones are usually low or mid tier, this one is a proper high tier phone, very smooth and fast.
The battery is also awesome, almost 2x better than my OP 7T Pro, which wasn't too bad either. And I'm using 120Hz and AoD, I'm getting 6+ SOT easily. With 7T Pro I was getting 3-4 hours SOT
SW wise it is great, as someone wrote before me, it is what OnePlus used to be. Clean Android experience with few extras. I didn't have any major bugs, just small details, but ASUS is nicely active on their support forum, we are reporting bugs and they are working on them.
I'm currently on the A13 beta and I haven't noticed any major issues so far, smooth experience, good for daily driver.
AND FINALLY the home gesture bug is GONE in A13! Now my Niagara Launcher experience is smooth.
But you cannot judge the phone based on the support forums, all you can find there are issues, right? Nobody is posting on forum about good experiences, people usually post only if they encounter any issue. And there are issues with every phone

Yeah I know, originally I planned to include something like "...of course people in support forums will always point out the issues..."

Is this phone a good upgrade to the Pixel 5 ?
I've been satisfied with the pixel 5 in general - it feels great to hold, has good bezels, good camera and it's light.
Performance has been better than decent - for the apps and things I use it at least.
But still would like to have a snappier performance with the better chipset that the Zenfone 9 offers.
The only drawbacks I'm seeing with the new Asus Z 9 are the slightly thick bezels, it's weight, camera perf., and ROM development
As far as the camera goes - are the GCams giving any considerable improvements in the Z 9 ? The factory camera app is giving decent results but I think I like my Pixel 5 pics better from the comparisons that I'm seeing.
Also - what do you think ROM development would look like for this phone ? The love these phones get in the NA market is non-existent pretty much. And maybe Lineage will drop a ROM - but would like to see some ROMs dev. in the future.
I'm loving it so far. While I'm not enthused about the two years of updates instead of more, I am learning about ROM development and will post here when I can.

I have a Pixel 5, too, though currently as a backup. Performance is okay on that one, but I can't believe how much better 120 Hz on the ZP9 feels than the 90 Hz on P5. Battery life is also much better, too: P5 is 10-11%/hr screen on rate, ~1% screen off rate; ZP9 is ~8% screen on rate, ~0.8% screen off rate. (Accubattery)
If price isn't an obstacle, I'd recommend it.
I wouldn't change this phone for anything. I upgraded from Zenfone 8, as the one thing that was missing was a physical fingerprint reader (rather than the under-screen one).
The software experience also feels much smoother (stock) than what it was on Zenfone 8 (which I later rooted and flashed wtih LineageOS). I am content keeping this one stock.
i currently have the samsung galaxy s20 5g and debating on i bought the zenfone 9 and try to decide whether to stick with it the Z9 or S20

The battery life on this phone is awesome, Im running with 4.5 hours screen time so far and 2 days stand by and I still have about 41% battery life.
performance is great, the camera is not bad, however those huge lenses do stick out like a sore thumb.
but overall if you can get this phone on special price, its well worth it.
